I'm guessing Sanchez has size 8 boots.

I'm also guessing Cazorla also has size 8 boots.

Dear Alexis,

Could you please borrow Santi a pair of your spare boots because he seems to have lost his since the FA Cup Final.

Yours,
Dags.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Santi's body language shows he is suffering from a bout of confidence.

i think this will be his last season at the emirates, and its time to send him back to spain, he does miss that paella.

welbeck was decent, he ain't no sanchez but he tried.

the CDM position keeps worrying me. the fact that even burnley knew which part of the team to attack was scary. and it should be difficult going thru the middle.

Agree0 Disagree0

So what you two are actually saying is that Santi is suffering from a boot of confidence?

I'll get my coat

Ed007,

I put yes on poll of the day for Mrs E to do a FHM style Avatar.

At present, 50 votes with 44 saying yes.

I also sent a personal post to Mrs E on the Celtic banter page, on behalf of all us Gooners.

Let's hope it does the trick, lol.

Happy to oblige mate.

{Ed007's Note - Good man.}

What are we missing dags? who is mrs E?

337,

She's the only female on the Celtic banter page.

Ed007, wanted to wind her up lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I the only female on here? Well i'm in touch with my feminine side, i've even got a pink polo shirt in my wardrobe, I don't wear it but it's there

I think on Wednesday we have to unleash the waw factor of Walcott Alex and Welbeck against Anderlecht and play every thing around them.
Can't wait till January when we can unleash the WOWS factor with a fully fit Mesut creating and dictating, that could be a sight to see

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Nov 2014 20:27:35
Still think when Giroud comes back, he should replace Welbeck. An attacking four of Ozil, Alexis, Walcott and Giroud has pretty much everything you could ever need.

Agree0 Disagree0

MACC
that has my drooling down my chin

Agree0 Disagree0

An attack of bale. Ronaldo di maria. Benzema. That had pretty much everything u ever needed.

Ribery. Muller robben lewndowski. That also.

{Ed007's Note - Dags we're having a bit of fun teasing our only female Celtic poster with the Poll of the Day, be a sport and you and the lads on here get on it and click YES, cheers buddy.}

My vote is cast!

I think Anderlecht is too early for Walcott to start. They'll be out for blood after the last game. Last 20 minutes if we're winning I reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner can't agree more, could be pretty lethal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id leave walcott to after international break. Play it safe and use him in few weeks time

Agree0 Disagree0

Pace on both wings and then we put the slowest striker in the world (and possibly the clumsiest) to finish of our moves? I THINK NOT SIR!

Giroud has never been prolific for us. He would only return to the team if Welbeck's injured

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 17:48:45
Quick question:

Sanchez is performing out of his skin playing behind the striker so.

Would you trade Ozil out for a proper LW (cough* Marco Reus *cough) or move Sanchez to LW and keep Ozil?

Ozil being on the left is NOT an option!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Getting the best out of both Sanchez and Ozil would be a very exciting prospect, much like the Suarez Stirling and Sturrigde effect on Liverpool it could cover multiple weakness's enough to make top two possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 18:15:43
I'm not anti Ozil but I would swap him for Marco Reus in a heartbeat.

Agree0 Disagree0

G95 stop nicking my reus sanchez idea lol. Get reus in 100 percent. We would not regret it. I have the bayern dortmund game on now. Sven bender is so good. I think dortmunds right back is excellent too great steady player

Agree0 Disagree0

Reus for Özil? Do it now.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 20:07:12
I was watching a programme on Sly spurts about the Invincibles and Wenger was talking about using Bergkamp as his quarter back feeding the forwards.

If he gets his finger out of his butt and plays Ozil as our 10 then I'm all for him staying.

If not then sell him and a couple of others and get Reus and Pogba. Job done.

Never happen but hey we never thought Ozil or Sanchez would either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you know if we didn't has ozil
We would be saying?
Wish we could get ozil best number 10 in the game
Ozil dosent become rubbish overnight, he seems to have some personal problems, I have seen him put some great balls threw
I said to my son why we bought him i, ll never know, He is C**P.My son went out and bought me a real madrid dvd,
It amazed me how good he was
Have faith. When we get Khadira/Hummels, and second division french striker.
We will look back and laff about the times ozil looked like the only thing keeping him on the pitch was the stand
In LORD Wenger we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

U people are serious fools for swapping ozil for reues, Ozil anyday, and they both aren't similae players to even swap or compare.

Agree0 Disagree0

100 percent reus over ozil all day long.
Sanchez is a better num 10 than ozil. In the prem sanchez is the player you want. Pace. Power. Skill. Can beat a man the lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 21:29:50
Hood,

We are judging Ozil by his performances in an Arsenal shirt not a Madrid one.

I love the guy and love the fact he is an Arsenal player, but performances have to improve.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't quite know how anyone could say that Ozil is better than Reus. When the guy eventually moves he'll be the absolute steal of the century to whoever gets him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Welsh if Ozil had gone to city or chavs and been played in his best postion as he surley would have been anywhere but with us we would be saying IF ONLY WE HAD A MESUT OZIL!
Easy to forget the worlds king of assists we bought little more than a year ago and turned into a very poor winger, I wonder how Rues will do at left back should we sign him and if in 15 months after this arrival we will be wanting to swap him for Leighton Bains

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 23:21:22
Don't get me wrong, I want Ozil to stay and play Bergkamp's quarter back role and feed Sanchez, Walcott and Giroud with Ramsey breaking into the box and Wanyama killing anything that moves towards our goal!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is nothing to do with Ozil's form. This is about Sanchez excelling at No.10 at wondering wither we should trade out Ozil for a proper left winger and keep Sanchez at No.10.

And let's be honest here, Ozil for Reus? Every single day of the week. And don't even bother arguing!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 23:28:32
@G95 It's easy to say Ozil is better than Reus, purely because he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 23:30:20
agree with gunner62 - this is Ozil you ungrateful bunch

Agree0 Disagree0

Watch reus and get back to me. The boys class. King of assists ozil? he took corners at real madrid and passed to ronaldo who scores 40 plus goals a season.

Ozil is a good player but he has played number 10 and was poor for us that's why wenger has played him out wide and so has lowe for germany. If reus was fit for the world cup ozil would of been a spectator.

I got slated the other day for saying david silva is better than ozil. I stand by my claim. Silva is day

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2014 08:34:44
Totally agree Derby

Agree0 Disagree0

Derby take a look at Mesut pre Real, then think why did the club who pays what it takes to get who they want chose Ozil and get back to me
Trust me 15 months of Reus and you'll be asking for him to be swapped if Arsene used him as badly as he has Mesut.
How can we not want Mesut Ozil in our team?
Maybe we really do get what we desrve each season and we have a 4th place mentality

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner iv follwed ozil all his career. Its not like real madrid are missing him badly and not winning champions league without him isit?

Im sticking with my point reus is kind i'd new on the block developed later than ozil. I want sanchez to stay in the hole he's dangerous and gets about the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thing with reus also is he can play anywere in the front three where as ozil is very limited positional wise.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet World champions Germany prefer Mesut, makes you think doesn't it

Agree0 Disagree0

This is not about Ozil or how good he is or anything about being ungreatful.

It is simply about Sanchez playing out of his skin at No.10 (where Ozil must play!) and if you would keep him there and swap Ozil for a proper LW.

I am very grateful to have Ozil here. He is a terrific player.

I don't want to sell him.

However he must play No.10 and if Sanchez keeps performing the way he is there would you move Sanchez back out wide?

That poses the question I asked. Ozil at No.10 with Sanchez out wide OR Sanchez at No.10 and sell Ozil for a proper LW.

I have no problem either way. Either way it's going to be amazing to see!

PS. Forget the Ozil/Reus debate. I simply used Reus as the best example for the LW.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point 95 mate, personallyi could live with
4
3
Sanchez Ozil
Theo
Especially with a proper DM stuck in the middle of the 3

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2014 16:03:51
@95 Sanchez is such a good player I think he can play on the wings and cut inside. Ozil on the wings is clearly a complete waste as he is not a winger and lost there, but is a number 10 - even mourinho said he was the world's best no 10. He is class, I just want fans to back him or he will feel unloved and want out. He needs two seasons chance at 42 mill

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Ozil massively as a player and when played at No.10 I think he would be amazing for us.

However, Sanchez is equally amazing there which lead me to ask the question because I can't decide what I'd rather have.

I'd have no problem either way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner62. Do germany prefer ozil over reus? No not at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 17:32:52
Happy happy happy.

Bit of a sweat but its a game of 90 minutes.

Sanchez is a beast.

32 shots on goal, the most we have had in a game for 7 years I believe.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The shots on goal stat is quiet incredible

A shot every 3 minutes is some going

Agree0 Disagree0

If we had to hand pick two fixtures to get our season going Sunderland and Burnley would be the ones to pick, now we have some momentum let's go to Swansea and get a good 3pts to really rubber stamp a turning point

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags,, you got a score prediction correct! What happened?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 18:30:04
Don't mean to pick a negative but 32 shots and only 3 goals?

That's 10 shots to a goal. That's a big problem and it's the reason we started so poorly.

We lost to Chelsea because the scored 2 in 3. Draw with hull because they scored 2 in 3.

We score 1 in 10? What happens when we don't get 10 chances?

Don't get me wrong guys I'm delighted with the result but it's these inefficiencies that have held us back so far

Agree0 Disagree0

Sheeny maybe that is as much to do with our poor defending also, I will watch the game later but what shots were blocked or saved against those blasted wide or over?

Agree0 Disagree0

32 shots is a good step in the right direction and Sheeny I think its a very valid point about shots per goal mate but we have to believe this is us getting out of neutral and up into first gear, we need to quickly slip into second against Anderlecht on Wednesday and be well into 3rd or 4th to get the win we need at Swansea next Saturday.
A draw would normally be good enough at the Swans but because of dropped points early on in the season we need to turn good draws into great wins from now on

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 19:08:16
Mick, I'm glad you noticed mate.

Another correct scoreline for Dags, lol.

I'm after G62's crown.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think your world cup semi final half time prediction puts you well out in front of the chasing pack Dags mate,

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 20:45:28
OK G62, I agree lol :-) :-) :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 21:07:23
Don't get me wrong the result is of course a step in right direction, hopefully wins against Anderlecht and Swansea will give us some momentum going into the united game because that's a must win imo.

And it's great to create chances and play attacking football but we've fluffed our lines in front of goals a lot this season and it's cost us valuable points. Cazorla has had a season worth of missed chances in his last 2 games (not inc today).

I just think we should keep that in mind going forward and hope it's addressed.

As for the defence I'm caught for clarity on this one because I don't think they've preformed all that well but in matches such as hull/chelsea the fact that they allowed only 3 attempts against them stands in they're favour I think. The oppositions just took they're chances those games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Sheeny if we don't beat utd this season them when?
I think this could be a case of ROLL UP ROLL UP FOR But THE LAST CHANCE TO SEE AN ARSENE WENGER TEAM BE A manchester united EVER!
If we can't manage it this season then it s a big worry because certainly won't get any easier in the near future

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 21:43:48
Exactly g62. We need to be taken seriously

Agree0 Disagree0

Sheeny its definately poor defending, we are wide open and easy to score against. The make up of the team is the reason.

It was refreshing to see us go for more goals when we were 2-0 up. Previously we've sat back and defended the lead which has caused problems. We probably should have had 5 really but what a display by Heaton in the Burnley goal.

Sanchez is unreal. They should of charged us double the fee. Amazing. We don't miss ozil I don't think. Keep alexis central and add reus left wing il be a happy boy. The ox looks better right side I think

Wanyama with a rocket. We should sign him in jan I believe. And if ospina is still unfit i'd like us to get tim krul. Steady steady keeper

Was going to reply to post further down about refereeing these days but it's a big one so here it is. (just my thoughts on the matter)

Was surprised when I saw the poll results the other day.

I honestly don't think the standard is dropping. Steady improvements in fitness, training and technology, I think it's a more or less constant progression.

That doesn't mean however that the standard is very high either. In today's game the camera is microscopic and the referee is the focal point.

It's easy to make a decision after watching a slow-mo replay 4 or 5 times. Referees don't and never did have that luxury.

At worst today's refs make the same amount of mistakes as any group of refs from any era. Just that previous generations didn't have the all seeing eye to contend with that refs nowadays seem fatally flawed.

Some one will point out we had cameras enough to give out about refs in the 80's and 90's and we did but not as much as we do today. Why? Maybe because now we have at least 30 cameras spying on a Premier League game. Nothing goes unseen.

Offsides even with cameras were at a stage hard to distinguish, in one part due to there being fewer camera so if it couldn't be caught from a couple of viewings angles the audience couldn't really argue.

The other being camera technology. The cameras being used today can shoot 120fps, they can take so many pictures a second that we can see sunlight flicker.

And in real time calculate the precise distances and draw a line to the millimeter of the offside line.

There's more match game coverage. Every single game is scrutinized on MOTD as opposed to some years ago it was a handful of the best games. This shows us more of what we give out about but it's always been there.

And finally which has just sprung to mind. There is so much diving and simulation and play acting in the games these days that refs have probably had a harder job than ever.

Bale runs @ 34.7km/h (no joke) and dives at 48.2km/h (no joke) "colliding" with and defender running 24km/h and the ref is 30ft away on the break. You decide weather he was touched or not.

All while watching the rest of the back line and advancing players to ascertain if it's goal scoring opportunity or not or if it's last man back.

I think most of them do a damn good job but it doesn't matter because they will never get any thanks. They'll always be easier to blame than poor players and bad managerial decisions.

So in short. I don't think it's getting worse. We just see more of the state it's always been in.

Interestingly enough at the time that Bale stat was taken less than a year ago he was only the second fastest footballer on record.

Antonio Valencia 1st @ 35.1km/h
Walcott 5th @ 32.7km/h
Wayne Rooney 7th @ 31.2km/h
Alexis Sanchez 10th @ 30.1km/h

Imagine that

Today is one of those high risk low rewards games when it comes to the optimism scale, few sceptics will be won over by even a massive win against a Burnley side who look well out of their depth in premier league football but a struggle in any way shape or form would result in a seasons low in mood.
Today's about not loosing ground and laying good foundations for next week's trip to Swansea and the home game againgst utd where two good performances and result would do a lot lot more to increase optimism levels than today's game ever could.
Today we mustn't go backwards after a couple of decent results dispite poor performances

I find it odd that Wenger is complaining that there are no tough forwards anymore. He wants tougher players, but has it seems, refused to get one. We are crying out for a mad man in midfield. Someone who isn't afraid to lead and throw a good tackle in. A Roy Keane for example.

Saying that though, a player with both the attitude and ability of him is hard to come by now. Any Players come to mind?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Give up buddy, there will never be another sportsmen never mind footballer who can hold a candle to Roy Keane. If Keane had been English a lot more people would appreciate what he done as a player and he would be looked at as one of the best in world. In his heyday Keane was in the bracket of player that would have improved any team in the world he had played in.
When (not if) the revolution comes and I'm Britain's first President I will knock down Big Ben and replace it with a statue of Roy Keane.
I was a big Viera fan as well btw, I just love those type of players, remember Edgar Davids?}

01 Nov 2014 08:11:58
unfortunatly the game has moved on since then and I doubt there is a place nowadays for a roy keane,a red card every 4 games sprinkled with a few 5 game bans per season would soon put paid to that

Agree0 Disagree0

Great player. But that tackle on haaland was un forgivable.

Agree0 Disagree0

If keane was playing in the last five years he would be looking at a red card every 5 games.

alot has changed in the way the game is being played, pace is just one attribute.

can you imagine keane running around trying to get the ball from xavi or iniesta in the champions league final?

those days are gone and while I agree he was a very good player, just like viera was, they added something to an era, but I think people over hype certain players a bit too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2014 10:25:33
Ed007,

I would throw Bryan Robson in the mix as well.

Fantastic player and Captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Definitely DG. Robson was my favourite Utd player when I was a pup. His testimonial in 1990 (I was 15/16) was the first time I was allowed to travel down to Old Trafford without my dad as there were plenty of Celtic supporters buses going down. It was round about the same time, I think, that I first visited Highbury for Paul Davids (Davis or Davies??) testimonial and the second was a few years after that for Tony Adams' testimonial. For the Davids one my cousin and his pals had hired a minibus to drive down, I left the house telling my mammy I was going to the football and it wasn't until my dad came in from work she found out the game was in London and he found out I was away to it - that went down well when I got home!
I think I am one of the few people who misses testimonial matches, I know players are paid exorbitant amounts these days and don't need the money but I used to love the the friendly party atmosphere at them and meeting new people. I've been all over England with Celtic for testimonials over the years and have met some great people who I still keep in touch with}

01 Nov 2014 11:54:05
Roy Keane was and is a wombat

I wish there was a statute of him in Dublin so I could egg it every morning on the way to college

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not surprised by that, we all know you Dubliners can't help being jealous of anything that comes from the People's Republic. If you're still at college are you old enough to remember Keane as a player, he retired 8 years ago.}

01 Nov 2014 16:50:59
Remember it well 007.

1991, we took it easy on you because it
was Paul Davis testimonial, hence the 2-2 lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not from Dublin man, I'm from the Premier. And I'm a phd student Viera vs. Keane were my formative year so I remember him plenty.

In particular I remember him walking out in Saipan. But I also remember his tackle on halaand and I remember what he wrote about it.

I remember meeting him in the Dunlop and telling me to eff-off when I asked for autograph, I remember meeting Niall Quinn 20mins later and getting my picture taken like he took with all the other 12 year olds.

And I remember plenty more player/manager/pundit. It's a pity he wasn't English he'd have no claim to us

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's actually the first time I've ever heard anyone actually admitting they got upset by player's not giving them an autograph, it's usually what we ask people who have a chip on their shoulder about a player 'What's wrong did he not sign your autograph'. Everything else is irrelevant after he broke your heart, your Phd won't even help that heal :( At least he told you to eff-off, he could have just ignored you. Keane's tackle had no bearing on Halaand's injury problems, Keane done him on his right knee, and Halaand had been having problems with his left knee and was wearing it strapped up for months. After Keane's tackle Halland played on and finished the match, he also played in a friendly for Norway that midweek and the following league game with no problems with his right knee (the one Keane caught). During the summer, he had surgery on his left knee, and played 4 substitute appearances the next season before retiring. Halaand had already admitted he had been playing with the injury to his left knee for a few month and he went on to say that Keane's tackle had done it no damage during the game and that Keane did not cause his injury. At least Keane had the minerals to come out and admit what he done rather than try and weasel his way out of it like some players do, or do you think Keane's the only player to ever go looking for revenge?
It was a shocking tackle but the story about how serious it actually was is a fairy-tale kept going by the people in the Irish media that have never liked Keane simply because he wouldn't play their stupid games when he was meant to be playing football, not sorting out tickets for journalist's families. Roy Keane had absolutely nothing to do with the injury that forced Halaand to retire.
What's your opinion on the Arsenal players behaviour at the 2010 World Cup?}

01 Nov 2014 19:51:40
Honestly I couldn't care less that I didn't get his sig, even at the time because I didn't like that he played for United. I mentioned it to highlight the type of person he is, that he couldn't give a child that idolises the jersey he wears(Ireland) a simple token. And yet Niall Quinn could.

It doesn't matter whether he ended halaand career, what matters is that he had the intent to do real harm to. And then in his book -"the ball was there (i think)" that's not admitting it that's mocking it. Plenty of players go out for revenge. And they about it by outplaying the other man by no uncertain terms, embarrassing them with sheer ability. Why couldn't Keane do that? Because by his own admission he's driven by hate. That's some quality in a human being.

I think anyone involved in 2010 should be disgusted by they're own actions. Arsenal players or not.

And how much do you really know about the Irish media? Starting to think Keane would be right at home in Scotland

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You obviously do care or you wouldn't mention it, it's nothing but petty and immature otherwise. As for the Irish media, like everything else, I'll know a hell of a lot more about it than you. I've probably forgotten more than you know, sorry I'll rephrase that, I have forgotten more than you know. So what do you know about Scotland because you sound as if you'd be right at home at Ibrox.}

01 Nov 2014 20:49:05
So rather than tell me what you know about it you make a self aggrandising statement?

I only mention it to highlight the difference between a model professional/all around nice guy and Roy Keane.

But then again you know more than me so maybe I am emotionally scarred. Thanks Dr. Phil.

You'd be the man to get me box tickets i'm sure

@ED007, I do ed although I admittedly didn't see him play all that much. If you're looking for a testimonial, Considine has one for Aberdeen soon! I've hardly been on the (Celtic) site recently, how's?Maloy?, I can't recall the name, but the poster who had a heart attack earlier this year doing?

{Ed007's Note - Timalloy's doing fine mate, I'll pass on your good wishes, he is back posting but not as regular until his health improves some more. I didn't know Considene was getting a testimonial but there's no way I could travel up to Aberdeen on crutches, it's hard enough getting to Celtic or Accies games as it is lol}

That's good news then! Ah, no way, what happened to you? I'll be in London during it anyway, but I don't think I'll be missing out!

{Ed007's Note - I had an accident 15 years ago, around 7 tonnes of steel H beams fell on me, and fractured my leg in 6/7/8??? places and shattered my ankle. I had to get plates and pins in my leg and a 'bionic' ankle fitted. I was back working and then about 5 years ago all the metal work became infected and had to be taken out, I've been on crutches ever since and had another 5 operations, not counting keyhole surgery, as well. About 3/4 years ago it became so badly infected they were saying I might lose my foot, one of the ops was to physically stretch my achilles by I think it was 5 inches, I've got some lovely pics if you're interested lol.
I have an interior ankle impingement and some other problems but I don't think it'll get any better soon. I had to give up everything, my Celtic ST, playing football and golf even doing some weights and training in the house. I still try to get to as many games as possible but it's difficult myself and I can't expect mates to give up their pre and post match pi$$ up to babysit me, plus I get very self-conciuous being outside on crutches so I don't really go out much at all - probably why I tend to ramble on on the sites. Gee that sounds so depressing when I read that back lol, sorry.}

Ed007, I love a gory picture ed! That's absolutely devastating, I thought you meant you picked up a little knock or something. Thanks for sharing that though.

{Ed007's Note - I've posted some onto the Arsenal Dodgy Sightings paste so Ed033 will get them up at some point, they are a couple of the less gory/funky looking ones so keep an eye out for them lol I'm not the type who sits around moping and complaining their lot, I know there's folk out there in far worse situations than me.}
