Welbeck or Giroud?

Talk to Dags.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wellbeck for me. They will both miss lots of chances but Wellbecks pace for me puts him above Giroud. Suits our play more.

Agree0 Disagree0

If danny boy repeats his feat against chelski, no contest. If he doesn't then , neither. Only jesting, welbeck all the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck defo, but giroud is great back up

Agree0 Disagree0

For me its a nice rotation sometime both right - Arsenal I can't stop thinking we are going to pull something big off this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some times one sometimes the other and at other times both.
Thats the whole point of having strength in depth surely, there will hopefully be games and formations we play that will suit Olly better and vice versa for Danny.
Having options and being adaptable has to be a good thing especially up top

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck dags! or u asking a non football related question? then giroud I guess welbeck looks a big lad

lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Red when you say we're going to pull off something big this year, your not thinking what I'm thinking your thinking are you?
If you are I don't think you've thought this through properly :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we are going to be in the hunt for EPL and CL. Key for me is getting the new lads up to speed and integrated then fitting in a Schneiderlein or Khedira as the missing piece in January.

Agree0 Disagree0

Red rooster I want to agree but I cant. we are still along way off. ask me again after jan window tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also think Wanyama could do the job, prefer him over Tiote or Diame, probably even Song. Can Wanyama be a DM and back up CB?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just joined because sick of all these negative posts were not far of a leauge wining team get behind wenger instead of all this negative rubbish bad result 2night but we weren't bad good times comeing

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good performance/result.

Team looked very balanced and with Ox, Sanchez and Welbeck up top we had pace to burn.

Well done Deadly Dan, 3 very well taken goals.

Very happy, perfect build up to Sunday but still very worried.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your worried DG! A tad concerned my self mate

Agree0 Disagree0

The pace is scarey.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 22:54:51
G62,

A little less worried, but nonetheless, still worried.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will be dramatically different come Sunday so I'd be surprised if anyone on here doesn't have any level of concern.
Compared to Chelsea tonight was like a top boxers penultimate fight before the title fight. A cherry picked opponent that will basically role over and get their belly tickled till they are unconscious.

I was impressed with Welbecks finishing, especially the second. Strengh to win the ball, pace to give himself the chance, and a cool finish. Sanchez was sharp as was Ozil.

People on here raise concerns about Wengers tactics but my god Prandelli's set up and tactics were awful. His tactics made it easy for us. The only people it was made difficult for was the police when the galatasary fans got bored of watching their team get pummelled so they thought they would "light up" their corner.

Let's hope Mourinho and Prandelli have a conference call tomorrow and the Italian convinces Mourinho to play 3 at the back and Oscar as the holding midfielder instead of Matic.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 23:14:42
Just as well. wasn't favoring us to do so well tonight. I think we'll see if the rest of the league believe we're contenders or not by the way Chelsea play. Mourinho always goes for a draw against the big teams unless its make or break. if they come out blazing against us (which I suspect) we'll no how we rank amongst our competitors.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea tend to go pretty attacking at home against most teams, including the bigger ones.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea won't go for a draw sunday at home. will be a great game and I see lots of goals

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 21:39:52
Spot on with the score prediction G62 for tonights game any chance of the lottery numbers for saturday. Top performance from the whole team bring on Chelsea especially if we play like that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers Paul mate

Take a bow G62, take a bow son.

Top prediction.

Respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 21:18:27
No surprise to us that when we play a balanced team we are much better I hope he keeps the pacy front three against Chelsea but my guess he will revert to ozil or jack on the wing in a unbalanced formation because he is such a stubborn person

Let's hope he proves me wrong, let's not carried away he should of worked this out a long time ago we all could see the problem s I don't know why he cant

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Oct 2014 20:55:48
Welbeck can't finish Haaaaa!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Oct 2014 22:22:16
Yep he's the best striker in the world now! Well until Sunday when your all whining and whinging about Wenger not signing a worldclass striker again 😃

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 22:59:38
Unfair Chris,

We do moan, but only about lack of a DM and some defensive cover.

Are you only posting on here mate because you are missing the excitement of CL footy? Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Cr, how many of your strikers will score a hatrick in the CL this season?

Oh wait, how many will even play?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Oct 2014 06:50:27
Lol 337, great argument and your right none will score in the CL this year 😂, but equally my lads won't be around in the comp to put it woeful performances like u did against Dortmund too.

Do I miss that guy? In a way yes, I liked Danny and always thought he would make a really good back up striker to rvp, Rooney and falcao.

Nice to see even with a win and 3 goals from Danny u still can't take a little bit of light hearted banter, even dags run with the bait for a while lol.

Oh well I'm off to the bookies to lump £100 on Danny to score a hatfull at the weekend. Any1 want in? 😃

Two Henry goals from Welbeck?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought that but I thought it was just me, two good goals!

Agree0 Disagree0

Three Henry goals from Welbeck :)

01 Oct 2014 23:03:48
3 welbeck goals from welbeck, I'm made up for the lad thou tbf.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 20:35:41
My prediction is we will be 3-0 up at half time, welbeck with 2 & Sanchez with 1, oh wait.

Sorry that's reality!

01 Oct 2014 20:29:53
What a fantastic player Alexis Sanchez is.

How can he not start every game?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Oct 2014 23:01:37
Its his first season mate, he can't play every game or he will be shattered by Christmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 23:27:31
Slows down our play big time when he hits the edge of the box. last two seasons we've played ideally gibbs/podolski over lapping down the flank with quick lay offs and then a squared ball to the central runner.

he prefers to hold it up on the edge and wait for the central runner ie messi iniesta, lesser extent xavi. Expected myself for it to work with ramsay but generally the play with barca for a few years was the chip and take down, don't get as much time in the prem as la liga though which is why low square balls work better and ramsay is most effective running onto the ball.but he's shaking the habit by the game. him welbeck Ox and ozil in behind that pace and soone gorgeous technical ability

Agree0 Disagree0

I love sanchez his work rate is insane its a joy to watch.

Anyone else seen the premier league injury statistics that have been published recently?

It shouldn't come as any surprise that we've topped the table with a staggering 889 injuries in the last 12 years! I wonder how many of those were Diaby, RVP, Jack and Vermaelen.

All joking aside, it's pretty ridiculous, and unacceptable. Since this new injury saving fitness coach had turned out to be a load of rubbish, you really have to wonder what it is about us that is the root of all of our injury woes.

I mean discounting injuries the like of Eduardo, Giroud, Ramsey's leg break, and Theo's cruciate ligament, which were unfortunate and unavoidable to an extent, the rest of our injuries tend to be either little niggly strains, recurrences and just general muscular injuries which a professional sports team near the top of it's respective tree should have next to no problem in preventing and treating.

So what do you lot think it is?

Personally I think it's just Wenger's current generation of players ever since he decided to sack off bringing in players with imposing physical qualities as well as technical skill, and decided to turn us into a club of midgets. It can't be a a fault in the training or the conditioning of the players since our bigger players like Mertesacker, Koscielny, Flamini, even the Ox who's short but beefy. All seem to have longer runs of fitness than the likes of Ramsey and Jack Wheelchair.

Granted, squad depth is a massive factor in keeping our players match fit, and it has been for too long. But that being said, it's also Wenger's stubbornness to make this brand of Del Bosque wannabe midgets on grass show work and win titles, when it's clearly evident to 7 billion other people that it won't.

I've never been one of the outright Wenger out crowd. But at the same time, the more I think about the club's troubles, the more I end up realising that most, if not all of our troubles on the pitch rest solely on his head, and unless he decides to completely re-brand our style of football and players, I'm not holding my breath for much more than top 4 and the odd FA or Mickey Mouse Cup here and there. until Everton overtake us.

Not liking the way things are looking at the moment. A defender and a holding mid in January would help, but Wenger hates the January window so I'm going to go with no signings in January for us.

Sigh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Oct 2014 23:33:36
"Since this new injury saving fitness coach had turned out to be a load of rubbish"

Dude he's been with us 2mnts!

He wasn't even with us for pre season as far as I know because he was till with Germany. (Do correct me lads if I'm wrong)

Simple example.

Try and lose 3 stone in 2mnts?

Fitness and conditioning is a strange entity but the constants are that it's slow and progressive.

"Rubbish" is flippant. Yes we've had a lot early on this year but not because our new boy hasn't made a difference. (How many ankle rolls have we had?) It'll take time to see his effects.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 15:53:56
Read a few comments Diaby has made regarding his possible transition to cdm. He seemed to have an intelligent grasp of the job and what would be required of him. Fingers crossed he can get fit and put it into practice, then we may have plugged a defensive hole until a more permanent solution can be found.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Oct 2014 23:38:40
Physically he's a fine specimen for the job but for a man who likes to attack and has played as such for the length of his career and then at 28/29 to expect him to do something different; better than what he's used to doing; and then finally include his injury record where it's been anywhere between 2-10mnts a year on the table.

We got an issue where it's wise to hope but not to hold your breath.

Just watched the end of the U19 game, very convincing win but the GALA goalscorer looked about 30!

Lets hope the first team can win so easily

Like the look of Niles and Dobson this afternoon, looking solid against gala, Crowley looks disturbingly like wilshere, and zelalem has the air of a young Samir nasri

If a hard hearted proven winner of a manger (mourinhoesk) took over from Arsene next summer who of our current sqaud would survive?
Szczesney as sub keeper probably
Chambers kos Ozil Ramsey Sanchez Ox Theo all for sure but how many others still be around come the August kick off?
Giroud Welbeck Jack Gnarby might be kept on as squad players and Gibbs due to injury would be 2nd choice at best imo.
Who do you think would survive a manager with only PL and CL winning on their minds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Might be easier to say who would go g62.

Arteta
Podolski
Rosicky
Diaby
Coquelan
Gibbs
Monreal
Sanogoal
Carzola
Flamini
Martinez

If we were to have a ruthless overhaul those would be my sacrificial lambs. Varying reasons for the selection, not just because they are not good players because some are. Age injury history etc etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 12:29:46
I'd love us to win the CL, but this year I'm finding it hard to get excited about our prospects. We haven't really shown much the last couple of years. What I really really want to see is us winning the PL. Not a treble, not a double, just laser like focus on winning the one thing that matters. Even a close second would feel like real improvement and a statement of intent to me, rather than just being there for the CL. Anyone else feel like they'd take winning the PL over anything else this year, no distractions.?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd take winning the PL over anything any time yyc but its not going to happen this year that's for certain.
Both chavs and city have too much for us at present as we didn't plug our leakest holes in the summer.
We are the 3rd best team in this seasons race no question of that and our first aim should be living up to that as a absolute minimum, absolutely no excuses made and most deffinately none accepted, should we achieve that top 3 place with games remaining then maybe we can think again and look at what's still possible
But 4th would be crime this time round less! Well that's unthinkable

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Oct 2014 13:15:48
That's about how I see it g62. So far we are letting ourselves down on the pitch with needless errors. Hopefully it will get sorted.

Tiote wants to leave newcastle, claims he had contact with arsenal and a Russian club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like Tiote. Goes in a bit too hard sometimes. But I like his physical play, and he is not afraid to try the shot from distance

This has got nothing to do with Arsenal, just didn't know where else to post it, but figured someone maybe up for a bit of a mental trip.

July 2015 or July 2016, Mongol Rally.

sadly most of my mates are in terribly serious relationships to consider this ;)

If anyone fancies a month off from routine life and wants to join me on a rather absurd quest let me know.

the other option is me on my motorcycle going solo. hahah. would be interesting to see what the reaction is, i'm quite sure some daredevils from this forum have done this.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would actually consider this. Would be epic!

Speaking of adventure racing. A friend of mine and I have talked about doing the Jungle marathon, a 200km race through the Amazon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydgunner while I would be tempted by the jungle race, I just don't think I have the stamina or the endurance to run 200km, especially in a jungle, and that to the amazon. I think I would be able to do a couple of stages but I feel the humidity would kill me.

need to do a london marathon before I can think of any extreme runs lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

The humidity. That's the killer! Britain doesn't get a lot of that either, at least we have a little bit.

Good point Steve r about the nicey nicey feeling around the club.In the past we had players like Viera, Bergkamp, etc who had the skill and the mean attitude to go with it, but AW biggest failing is replacing these players with others who are not good enough in both departments.Poldi is a prime example of a player who looks like he couldn't give a toss but on his day a great finisher. Not going tonight taking wife out for 37th wedding anniversary, so who ever is going tonight give a shout for me
Take care people
Heybridge Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Oct 2014 12:19:16
It's true Heybridge, we used to a have a determined streak and led the league in red cards in the 1990s. I'm not saying that's the best thing to lead the league in, but those teams were determined to own the ball and the pitch. On his day, my mates and I used to say Dennis Bergstamp has shown up to play.

37th - congrats! We've been together 37, my wife and I, but 'only' married for 30. What is 37 . molybdenum or duck feathers or something odd?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 07:43:16
With the exception of Wilshere, I would play the strongest possible team tonight and worry about Chelsea after the match.
Against Chelsea I would try and change tactics, sit deep with Coquelin and Hayden in the defensive midfield roles. Flamini is poor and the younger players athleticism could work. I would use the more industrious players in midfield, such as Ox, Wilshere & Sanchez. Of course Welback upfront and the last remaining fit back four!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Oct 2014 08:38:38
Wilshere is out, I'd play flamini, with ox as box to box, I understand not everyone rates flamini but we need an experienced head in midfield.

Coquelin I see more as a right back, would rather play him there and ease the defence a bit.

Anyone seen, sanchez backwards stepovers?

Agree0 Disagree0

We have to tally commit to tonights game 3pts no less is a must.
Sunday just put out the best what we have left and should we somehow manage anything at all it would be probably the highlight of the season.
Not losing Sunday would most deffinately kick start our season and be a great way of going into the international break, but so would getting Messi and Renaldo on loan for the rest of the season, both unlikely scenarios I admit but

Agree0 Disagree0

Winning Sunday would kick start the season. Knock off the stupid errors and it's perfectly feasible. A lot of talk about Coq on the board - I know he's a decent utility defensive minded player, but he's also been rash and can make mistakes. Do people think he can step up? That's a genuine question, he's older now, I'm not knocking him.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 00:08:43
So as Gooners, I presume you all watched the Patrick Viera, Roy Keane docu thing on telly a while ago, where Patrick, when asked, Arsenes weak and strong points, replied "loyalty" to both questions. In the light of Artetas impending new contract extension and all the other dead weight we've carried or been carrying for the last few years, do you all feel it's time the clueless dr13k left yet, or should we carry on with him? Discuss. . .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ive said before, its all to nicey nicey comfy comfy at this club. There isn't a much character in our players. No naughty boys to gee things up and stir people into having a fight for the club. Where are the martin keowns of this world and the charlie georges. The mersons and the adams, the wtihhtd and the vierras. The players to get thr crowd stirred up and show passion. Why has wenger stopped getting these types in. We now have the choir boys of ozil, caxorla, and ramsey. Not talking of ability, just chatacter. Its all too comfortable

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2014 05:52:53
Steve
I am pretty sure Joey Barton is available

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta was never a defensive midfield player, even in his prime and I cannot think of another top four side that would want him in their squad. I have no doubt that he is an extremely loyal player and will give everything for the club, but his days are numbered and I see little point in extending his deal. I would also be looking to release/sell Flamini, Rosicky & Podolski. Suitable replacments need to be brought in and the shortage of defenders and athletic powerful defensive midfield options need to be addressed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on robbie on all aspects. arteta has never been good enough for arsenal at all. I don't see how people think he's this legend

Agree0 Disagree0

This season is the last time we'll get away with not doing what has to be done.
utd will be a force again next season
Liverpool will have adapted to life without Louie
Both Everton and spurs will be much stronger too.
Time is most deffinately running out to start doing the things the whole world can see need to be done but will Arsene take notice just in the nick of time? We have to truly hope so

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on gunner62. weather wenger also sees this I don't know
