If you think about our title winning teams of the the recent past, we have always pulled off some stunning wins against the big boys. Fact of the matter is, apart from beating Liverpool, I can't remember the last time we actually beat Man City, Manchester United or Chelsea. Think we beat Chelsea 3-2 at the bridge a few seasons ago. We also beat Man city after they had a player sent off if memory serves.

My point is, if we are to be crowned champions come May, then big performances are needed. 6pts in our next two games would go a long way to making all our dreams a reality.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree 6 points in the next two games would be great.

Not that stats are everything, but still, its interesting to note that who ever has won the PL title (last 21 years) has accumulated at least 11 points against teams in the top five (we currently have 5 points, win against Liverpool, draw with Chelsea and Everton).

There is one exception, man u - 2008/09 who managed 9 points and still went onto win the title.

The invincibles managed 18 points against the top 5.

Although we did get 15 points in 2006/07, but were poor against the mid-lower teams- so who knows!

But if we can get 6-8 points (which would make 11-13 overall against the top 5 clubs) from the top 5 teams (away Liverpool, everton, chelsea and home city) and we are still consistent against the mid and lower teams, we could be in with a good shout.

Taking nothing for granted as tomorrow is going to be tough but I'm less nervous going.to Anfield than I am playing utd at home?
Bizarre I know, but guessing I'm not the only one!
We desperately need the utd no win fear put to bed, if we can do that I think our confidence and the players too will escalate to another level

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes, I agree, once we have started beating our main rivals, the belief will come.

There is no pressure on us. as all of the so called pundits and experts say we will come unstuck against Liverpool, and it will be between Chelsea and Man City for the title.

we will win tommorrow at least 2 or 3 -1. but we have to defend from the front and win the battle of midfield. cut off the supply to Suarez, and job done

Thats all until tommorrow

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hmmmm bold prediction I am confident in the team though!

A statue of Dennis Bergkamp is being erected (childish humour giggle) outside the Emirates alongside Wenger Chapman Henry and Adams. All absolute legends in their own right.

Adams Henry and Bergkamp are literally my top three all time Arsenal players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would love to see Wrighty up there too.

He came into the game quite late but an absolute legend at Arsenal.

About time God got a statue

Tomorrow's going to be a good test, we've done quite well at anfield in the past so I'm confident, I reckon it'll be 2-1 to us with poldi and santi scoring for us and Suarez for Liverpool. I'm pretty confident about Man United too tbh, we've done pretty well against them at home in recent seasons so I'm confident :) then Liverpool at home which I think we will quite easily (If that last match is anything to go by) then bayern which for me is the big one, I personally think we can get wins in all of these :)

One very optimistic gooner :) COYG!

I'm so fired up for this stretch of matches

Top clubs play stretches like this

3 competitions, top level opponents, if you can't enjoy this type of stretch then this sport isn't for you

Tomorrow has got to be a signal of intent. We cannot start this on the wrong foot. Play with urgency and go for the kill.

This will be our toughest match of the season if we make it so. Don't let it be. Take control early and never let go

Coyfg!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree! Got excited butterflies in my stomach awaiting the game tomorrow! I really hope that we nick the win. Don't care how we get the 3pts as long as we do.

Evening all! Prediction for tomorrow's lunch time game. I'm going to be bold and predict a 1 0 win to The Arsenal with Giroud scoring in the 64th min. I expect it to be tight but with our wall of defence we have a great understanding and leadership with the BFG. COYG eie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My head keeps telling me 1 1 draw leaving all three top teams level at 5pm.
But some where inside I have a real feeling your spot on PL2 with us getting a fantastic
0 1 win, so I'm listening to that and you and saying we will be top at 3pm and 5 pm no matter what Chelski or city do

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool 1
Arsenal 2>>>>cazorla and Giroud.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cazorla and Giroud are both in my dream team DG so yes please.

I also have a nagging doubt of 1-1. I really don't think we'l lose with per and Kos!

Still, going to fight my head and say 2-0 to the Arsenal!

Bring it on!

Agree0 Disagree0

Greeny, hope you are correct mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I think itll be 2-1 at half time in their favour, but final score will be 2-5 to us :)

suarez strikes first early then we lock up till the 40th min then ox gets our first, and in the 48th min suarez scores again.

2nd half santi goal from early on, then giroud then ox after about 60-15 mins played then ozil gets one on 90 :P

would be a typical arsenal vs liverpool game, and a good one I hope :P

With the end of season approaching, and Arsenal still right in the mix for the title, I can't help but thinking now that we would be in so much a better position now if we had signed Higuain.

We know that a deal was very nearly done, but Real Madrid hiked the price up at the last moment.

Let's say we go on to lose by 3 or 5 points at the end, do you guys reckon signing Higuain would have made the difference?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Instead of Özil? No, I don't think so. Özil Mai not show in the stats, but he makes the whole team better in the field and in the dressing room. Higuain wouldn't have helped in that loss to City, and that's the kind of lapse that has cost us the few points we lost. But he might have helped vs the 0-1 to Utd.

Someone like Gundogan as well as Özil would have made a 5-8 point difference easily.

Agree0 Disagree0

Putneygooner,

I hear you loud and clear man, I think we would all like a more clinical striker, but the thing that people assume is that if we had signed Suarez or Higuain then we would have still gotten Ozil.

I'm not sure but I doubt that we would have gotten both, as I seem to remember Wenger saying that attacking midfield was not really a need for us, but when a player of Ozil's quality comes around, you don't let that slip by.

I would take Ozil over Higuain anyday and twice on Sunday.

Peace,
Trinidad-Gooner

Lets look at the creative midfield and think for awhile.

oscar was not played against city until a late sub.

Mata did not play quite a few games and has been subbed for big games.

Imagine if Ozil played for Chelsea, he would have played that city game, he would have played over both oscar and mata.

he would have played over silva at city, and he would have even started for barcelona or bayern.

for a player to have that sort of an impact on a team states his value.

he may not be tearing the league, but I expect him to step it up after this season.

he drops deep when the midfield moves up to take up position and clearly is a team player above all.

I would even take his purchase over suarez.

strikers are in plenty, although they cost more than a creative midfielder, however when you can get the best creative midfielder you just have to do it.

taking the same squad that did well enough to finish 4th, to leading the pack with one addition says a lot to the value that player has brought us.

Striker will be addressed in the summer.

if we can add the likes of draxler, even without a striker. having drax and walcott on the wings with ozil in the middle, is a frightening prospect for any opposition.

i would say that cavani maybe our target for the summer.

between us and chelsea I would say.

unless city sell aguero to madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont see how we could be in a better position than top of the table, Ozil and Giroud are both very much under appreciated for what they do for your he team.
Someone who puts the ball in the net every other week is very noticeable while those whotake people away to create room for others efforts can easily be over looked

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with G62 on the Giroud question it's because we have Giroud we can play the way we do - He isn't just a striker he is the start of the defence and a way out for us when we are being hunted down at the back. Ozil just eats up the ball and the opponents energy and can always see a pass to someone who can then go forward or into danger areas. WE can't be carrying many passengers to be still at the top well over halfway through the season!

Agree0 Disagree0

Very true DG, for me I think ozil has done 2 things to our team 1, with him in the team every player has stepped up to be at his level, and the 2nd is he's seeing these passes that others just don't. Giroud this season has been fantastic, many strikers just stay up the field and wait for the ball To come to them where as giroud (and ozil tbh) will drop much deeper to go get it, I've seen ozil countless times come into our own half to get the ball off our defenders, that's arteta or flamini's job lol
I know I've waffled on but I just like to share my opinion when I agree with someone else's lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozil better than Mata, Oscar and Silva, there's no fool like the fool that fools himself, get real boys, there's a reason why he's at Arsenal!

I hope we keep rosicky for 2 reasons 1 he has been unreal this season and keeps pulling class performances out despite being 33 and 2 he is doing his coaching badges and having someone like him can only help our young midfielders get better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I didn't know he was taking his badges. Couldn't agree more, someone I would like to see at the club past his playing years. He is driven to win. Fans and players love him.
