The Higuain situation will be decided within the next few weeks. There was no meeting between Wenger and Higuain as the media has been reporting, however discussions are arranged as I previously mentioned.

Bendtner will (finally) be off our books by the end of the month. Expect a permanent move for Park Chu-Young too.

ASEG.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The alleged meeting was between Wenger and Higuain's father. And please don't pretend that you know anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Ted, you know nothing

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Seconded Ted. This guy is a class a bearder. However, I am on cloud nine because I think Higuain is almost in the bag

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you saying they met ted? It's crap. Wenger was and is in Israel. At most it could have been an Arsenal representative meeting his father.

Not a rumour just what I want.

4 positions:

CB: Dragovic/Ginter
CDM: Fellaini/Bender
CM: CESC
ST: Rooney/Higuain

My preference is Dragovic, Fellaini, CESC and Higuain.

Call me crazy, but I think that Richard Dunne would be a good punt for fourth choice CB. Released by Villa because he had the season out injured, but on his day, a colossus, Bags of prem experience, fans and players choice for player of the year wherever he played, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You're crazy.

Agree0 Disagree0

As 4th choice I agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh dear.

Agree0 Disagree0

Richard Dunne went for 5 million to Villa. We should have signed him then, not now.

Churchill Gooner

Would rather have Richard Madeley then Richard Dunne.

Is the hot weather making people cranky, seems an awful lot of undeserved and unwanted abuse of the Eds, they do a great job if you don't like don't use the site. Gets right on my nerves taking your frustrations out the Eds when you can't direct them directly at whatever is annoying you. Like bullying the smaller kid at school because you weren't breast fed. Grow up people leave Eds ALONE.

On a cheerier note goodbye Bendtner do u need a hand packing?

Holmesy {Ed027's Note - Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree 100% with this post. And also why would you abuse a fellow gooner in Ed027's case?

Agree0 Disagree0

Life eh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would you sit behind your keyboard and bully anyone

Eds do a great job and its a free site

We support a club who aren't at the top of the league on pay or points so deals collapse - club also keeps info within its own circle of trust

Enjoy the site for what it is and the hours the Eds do to keep it going without loads of Ads.

Whatever mate I don't like it when people slag off the eds, but they should be able to deal with individuals, the entire fan base doesn't need to suffer. It's not like every gooner went against Ed 002. However it's his wish, by the way I think Ed 027 is doing a proper job.

By no means not slagging you off eds, but just out of interest have any of you actually predicted a transfer before the media and got it right? Thanks for any reply, just interested.

CheetahChaz97 {Ed027's Note - Use the search function, people will no that Edoo2 said Song will be off, Nasri will be off, Clichy will be off, yet everyone slagged him off, I said Podolski to Arsenal in the January window, the summer before it was more of a dream but I started to put it forward after Grimandi scouted him, and you will all know that I said we were in talks with Montpellier before anyone got hold of it, even the media, so be it I never knew who we were In for, I was hoping for Belhanda at the time because I wanted RVP to stay. That's a few we have got right, and yes we may have claimed on being interested in some, and they never came off, but that is football, it is a business

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - People just slagged Ed002 off, one of the small reasons he's gone

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed's have certainly got more right than you Malaga that's for sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely understand ED02's decision, but that's was due to a small minority of posters. I think I can speak for the majority in saying that we cherish every Ed's info and opinions. Is there anything we can do that'll bring ED02 back? {Ed027's Note - I don't think so

Malaga didn't say anything. So why are you directing your reply at him? {Ed027's Note - His reply got deleted

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has claimed he is in talks with 'five or six clubs' and expects to secure a permanent move in the next fortnight. (tv)

I think he said this also before he went out on loan!

Lets hope he is going for sure this time & take your pink boots with you by by by.

In all honesty, is Jovetic really a good buy? Personally, I think he's overrated, although young, he isn't world class, yet.

Now, if we want to compete we must buy world class NOW and I think that the club would compete with Higuin and Fellaini. I know someone who has sources in arsenal, apparently Jovetic IS still on. Not sure about the fee but I think he's a waste of money.

Fabregas to Arsenal: the deal has been agreed
By Myles Palmer

Readers plead: Myles, write something positive.

Here it is.

Cesc Fabregas, a winner with the La Liga champions, is coming back to Arsenal.

I got this scoop last night but didn't post it then because we were invited a barbecue.

Fabregas took over Vieira's No 4 shirt and played for Arsenal for seven years and achieved 70 assists in the Premier League.

Why is he coming?

Because he wants to start every game and be with his baby daughter and girlfriend.

He wants to see his kid every day.

Which is fair enough. Babies and toddlers do different things every week, every day.

Cesc was mature at 16.

At 26, he's a proper grown-up and a family man.

It's exciting news and I'm buzzing for the first time in years.

out of rooney, higuain and jovetic, who do you guys and eds think is most likely? {Ed027's Note - Jovetic

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hope not, I think ed is just guessing, he doesn't know that much

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow you're a dick, you ask for an opinion then you slag him off anyway. I'd like to see jovetic and higuin, competition for places can surely only benefit everybody at afc

Agree0 Disagree0

Jovetic wants to stay in Italy, and he is Juve first choice. I think Higuain is most likely out of those options.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think Rooney would be a very good signing for us. Proven in the Premier league, and would work well with Wilshere and Cazorla behind him. And with ox and Theo either side not only would we be fairly devastating but the near future for England could be really promising.

Agree0 Disagree0

When I think to goal scoring chances missed last season and think out of those 3 who would make the difference in front of goal I'd rather see Rooney or Higuain. Don't see Jovetic as being the 20+ (league goals) striker we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just really don't rate Jovetic. I haven't seen anything from him that has made me think he is a world class player. Is there something I've missed? I'm hoping for Higuain

Chriscamo

Agree0 Disagree0

On form Rooney by a mile

Bergkamp's apprentice

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres been a lot of different stories.

recently i've heard that Higuain met wenger in paris with his father.

Arsenal can afford Rooney (everyone knew that, was just a case of buying him and paying him)

we want to pay 20m for jovetic, but florentina want his release clause activated.

so it could be any of the three, can't see us giving rooney 200-250k a week. Don't see jovetic happening now, I think higuain is the more likely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain.

The reason is simple. He finds the net most consistently. We don't need a grafter, or technician. We need a finisher plain and simple.

And he's, imo, the best available at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain for me

What's people's verdict on Frimpong? I think he could be our cdm saviour. Is he still on the books with us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is not good enough for Arsenal, we need to be bringing in world class players.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's had a few injury's, but would love to see him have a run in the team, maybe preseason.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with above, he has been very strong whenever he plays. On top of his aggression he has surprisingly strong technique, as seen in his loan spells with Fulham and briefly at Wolves. The only thing to suggest he is not good enough for us is his injury record and perhaps his discipline, but that has to be seen with time. I would hope he can get a run of games, I suspect he could be the dedicated DM we need in the long-term.

What's happening with Emmanuel Frimpong? Is he still on our books, I personally think he could potentially be the answer to our defensive midfield issue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Frimpong is currently recovering from an op, but I would think Le coq has more chance and is the better player in that position, Frimpong has what it takes he just needs to get more serious about his football imo

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba is viera mark 2 everything about him if you ask me spending 20 million on gundogan or pogba would be more worth while then spendng it on a striker. The time of giroud starts now

Good for us but also good for you you can see him tested once again in Europe before you splash the cash on him (if you still want him) but I'd be happy knowing if he left celtic for arsenal that he's in good hands arsenals a great club wish you all the best for next season boys. Tom Ince to Arsenal, what we recon? I'd love to see it to be honest, arsenal fan as well, Walcott on the right Ince on the left, Ox and Wilshere in the middle would love to see an all English midfield, what with Gibbs, Jenks and Rambo as well. Rooney up front? Or am I just dreaming?

Ins

Rooney
Ince
Grenier
Williams
Fellaini
Cesar
Higuain

Can dreams come true?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ince has a great future but I don't think we need him. We have a much better England prospect in Ox, who needs more game time. Some may disagree but I think we should get ONE of Fellaini/Grenier/another AM (I personally think it is too defensively risky assuming Fellaini would take a more defensive role). Unless a second signing in that area could also play left wing.

i don't have any sources and i'm not a itk, but based on rumour's and people on twitter such as a person, this is what I can see happening:

goalkeepers:
people may not want to hear this, but don't be surprised if no goalkeepers come in. the reason I say this is because contrary to common knowledge, fabianski and mannone's contracts run out in 2014 not 2013, so they both still have a year left. therefore, due to the impressive form of fabianski at the end of the season, I can see him staying and although he isn't great I don't think you ask for a more suitable 3rd choice goalkeeper than mannone. I mean, what more do you want for 3rd choice? then szczesny will of course still be here, his form improved after coming back into the team as well. if a gk does come in the players linked are: julio cesar, mignolet and adler.

defenders:
when it comes to the defence, I can't see us signing any full-backs unless sagna leaves and i'm increasingly beginning to think he will stay at least one more season. jenkinson is improving all the time and we have two top class left-backs in gibbs and monreal. at centre-back I think we have two top class players in mertesacker and koscielny. vermaelens form dropped last season and he has been linked with a move away, this could happen but I still think he will stay. where will he go? I can see him staying and then I think we will buy one other centre-back. ashley williams has been linked the most, winston reid has also being linked. not sure who we will buy but would be happy with either as fourth choice. however, I wouldn't be surprised to see us sign a young player with potential such as matthias ginter. then finally fringe players such as santos and djourou will hopefully be sold along with the released squillaci.

midfielders:
in midfield, I think we will look to buy a defensive midfielder and a attacking midfielder. with arshavin already released there is room for another creative-mid, grenier has been linked and if we want him I think we cane easily get him, he's a typical arsene wenger signing. people talking about fabregas are just in dream land in my opinion, he'll probably retire at barcelona. in terms of defensive, I don't expect coquelin to be at the club next season, whether that's a loan or permanent move I don't know but even though he's a decent player he isn't good enough if we want to challenge and I think wenger knows that, based on how little he played from january onwards last season. so I can see us signing a defensive-mid such as gonalons, fellaini or kondogbia. I also think frimpong will leave on top of others like denilson whose already gone.

attackers:
i think we have a pretty decent attack, just not a world-class one. walcott, giroud and podolski will all improve next season I would expect. gervinho I can see leaving this summer. he's not as bad as people make out but I think its obvious he isn't improving as much as wenger had hoped. with yaya sanogo coming in plus one more, its inconceivable that he will stay. in terms of the big striker we are looking to buy I think the shortlist is like this:

1) wayne rooney
2) gonzalo higuian
3) stevan jovetic
4) david villa

rooney is number 1, that's why everything is so vague atm, the club never knew he would be available so they are now waiting to see what happens. if we don't get rooney I think we will get either higuian or jovetic.

in terms of sanogo coming in think it spells bad knews for joel campbell. he's not scoring enough goals and - similar to coquelin - I can see him moving although he is decent. the finally players like bendtner, park and chamakh will go.

wenger to sign a knew contract.

Hi Eds,
Is all the recent talk of big-name signings, particularly from Gazidis, just a ploy to increase season ticket renewals (the deadline for which is soon approaching)? Or is there going to be a legitimate shift in our transfer policy this summer? {Ed027's Note - There will be a shift

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not to be like that but I do remember ed:s saying the same last summer and nothing changed then. {Ed027's Note - Nobody said that, last year Ed002 said we will buy if we sell

Agree0 Disagree0

"Ed027's Note - There will be a shift"

Ed (great job you do here btw), what does that mean exactly, as far as you know?

For example- does it mean, we no longer have to sell, so we can keep hold of our best players- BUT wenger continues with pretty much similar targets/price ranges he has over the last several seasons or that he will now go for more recognised and as a consequence bigger fee type players?

As an arsenal fan yourself, I'm sure you can appreciate some of the cynicism, doubts, etc around, this apparent shift.

Is it a guess because that's what the papers are reporting or have you heard from a source regarding this shift!

We have been waiting and hoping for a change in policy for so long, it seems all to good to be true (but so exciting if it is ofc!).
LG.
Thanks Ed. {Ed027's Note - We don't need to sell to cover losses or make a profit, we have struck new commercial deals for 2014, we will get some advances on these, there are lots of cash available, this has been kept for security, I we never sold over the years we would be in trouble. We have shifted a lot of players, and we are changing the wage structure, judging Gazidis's comments in the past more or less proves this

Agree0 Disagree0

OK Ed thanks- that makes logical sense and I would agree with it- the best part, relatively, is that at least we can hold on to our talent. now its about building a side that can compete,
could be an interesting summer a head.
Cheers.

Wenger will not buy any stars! Look at his transfers over the past 6 years not good, wenger does not have a plan b only plan a and it does not work, need cb (hummels), dcm (felliani)and striker (higuain) as much as it hurts wenger needs 2 step down need younger manager with passion

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So why did wenger meet with higuain and his dad in paris, just to have tea and catch up?wenger has done a brilliant job with very little financial suppport. Things are changing we have the financial muscle to compete for top players.

when I was told about this special player I could not get my head around there was any substance to it.

your going to have to trust me that when it comes to press you will remember that I and know else had it 1st.

this player wants a NEW challenge

he wants to come to london.

he is not bothered about the limelight

he is not bothered about wages.

he is a ready made superstar.

as I said in my post, I am sure if its this summer or next.

if I get anything else concrete on this player I will let you all know.

I wouldn't get too excited about what Gazidis has said about us being able to sign big money players.

He can say all he wants, he said that last season as well. Until we sign a few 25 mil+ stars, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Also, whilst Rooney and Fellaini (apparently we matched his 22 mil buy out clause) are good players who I wouldn't mind having at Arsenal, they aren't really the solution to our problems. We need a winger, a striker, a CDM and an all-round defensive player. That would make us title contenders (providing that the players we buy are of great quality).

At least it seems as though we are showing signs of intent.

Nick.

Malaga I hope your right! there's nothing more boring than being an arsenal fan in the transfer window, so I hope Wenger pulls off something magical, Higuain anyone?

coyg

Agree0 Disagree0

A winger? We have Walcott, Ox, Podolski and Cazorla can play there. There is no need.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe you Malaga, I really do - I was joking (obviously) about Messi but stranger things have happened.

I reckon there's a strong chance of Cesc although a lot can go wrong.

Fact is, I'm fully confident of us smashing the SH!t out of our transfer and wages records at least a couple of times this summer.

Keeping the faith!

COME ON YOU GUNNERS!

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott wants to play through the middle and I think Ox will eventually play a more central midfield role.
Though you are definitely right these two are wingers, at least for now.
Podolski for me is too lazy to be a winger, though maybe he found it difficult to adapt to English football and will look better next season.
As for Cazorla, he is definitely better centrally.
I think Walcott on one wing and a new left winger would be great. Sanchez anyone?

Nick he never said it last summer, he said in summer 2012 that in summer 2013 we will be able to challenge, new commercial deals being wrapped up and stadium debt all but paid off, these are positive times so just wait and see

At least 3 different papers reporting that arsenal are close to signing Gonzalo Higuain for a reported £20 million.

Fabregas to Arsenal has been agreed according to Myles Palmer. Add to this the fact that Darren Dein was in Barcelona on Monday at the Daniel Jarque tribute game and met up with Cesc and things start to look very promising.

Where will he play in our midfield. we need a defensive midfielder. Carzola, Arteta, jack and theo. don't believe this story to be honest. Although I think he has a few problems with the mother of his children who is based in London. km

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have to play
DM Wilshere

Walcott Fabregas Cazorla

It plays Cazorla out of his best position but is the only way to play them all.
That said, the squad would be rotated and we always end up with injuries so not sure how often they would all play in the same team anyway.

I predict only 4 signings at the Emirates for the 1st team squad this season: Cesar, a DCM (Wanyama, Gonalons or Fellaini), Higuain and Sanogo.
For the academy: Mitrovic, Crowley, Selva.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah but 4 good signings. If that happens, I would be happy with that- why? Because its progress, no one (at least who we want to keep) being sold and signing good players-

As long as we are progressing and adding quality, without taking it away- is all good with me. After many seasons of pretty much the reverse, that would be a sign of change.

There are so any names being bandied about and headlines written to lure us into clicking on websites that know just as much as we do (which is naff all), where the ultimate aim is for them to flog us something through advertisements, "Thai bride anyone?"
It's very easy to get carried away with the rumours/sightings, and even the odd tweet which is subsequently deleted and therefore never happened. (Shhhh, we won't tell anyone) But let's be honest, it would be as dull as dish water without them all.

Which brings me to the Arsenal.
The one thing our club does do well is the old sneaky sleight of hand stuff. With fierce competition for top players, it's only sensible to take the Machiavellian approach to such matters.
To some clubs a Rooney or a Higuain could be an option for them. Where to us in the past these sort of names have been used as a decoy for the club so we get the player that no one was expecting, or probably didn't want. But when it works, my god it feels good.
ARSENAL HAVE SIGNED SOL CAMBELL!
You know that "What the f##k moment. " When National newspapers are shown up as not knowing half as much as they would like us to believe. You can here the editors now, "Give me the low down on this Carzorla chap"
"Actually it's Cazorla sir. Consistantly in the Spain squad, and is right footed. Or is he left, can't tell. Absolute quality sir, and at a cost of 13 odd million"
"How did we not know of any of this?"
"Because it's the Arsenal sir. "

We've done it like that in the past because we've needed to, and we'll continue to do it that way for the same reasons. But maybe our future guess work when it comes to transfers will start to improve, because we'll actually be in for the big players that in the last eight years we've been used to selling.
It's still hard to get my head around that though, and I'm still of the belief that if the internet has a name (Fellaini) then chances are it ain't happening. So then I start thinking of the quality players that we haven't been linked to. Because you can guarantee if they haven't been mentioned yet then your probably getting warmer.

The only Stella anything we've been used to has been served in a pint glass, but fingers crossed for some Stella signings in the NEAR future, and when I say near I mean sitting on my face near.

Anyway that's me for now. Got to send some money to my future bride. Her mother, sister and three brothers need life saving operations that cost a fortune.

Hi eds, bit if a different question, if you could have higuain Rooney jovetic or Hernandez who would you have, and then regardless of price if you could have one player at arsenal, who would it be? Aside from Ronaldo and messi

Thanks,

Bergkamp5353

Ps I would have jovetic and pogba, purely for the Manchester United fans {Ed027's Note - I'd have Hernandez, really like him, poacher, what we have been crying out for, same goes with Higuain, but Hernandez has that deadly pace

Heard that Joel Campbell is to get a work permit this coming season. Ed, How do you see him progressing? Do you think he will have another loan spell at Betis, or be given a chance at the Emirates? 5 goals in 50 games doesn't inspire confidence. {Ed027's Note - I can see him getting another spell, maybe I England, he will develop
