Eds can you please update who our main targets are please.

hzy

{Ed002's Note - Some of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving, and (b) how much money the club can raised through sales. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players fairly recently:

GK: Cech (clearly the preferred option), Leno, Perin, Begovic, Leno and Ochoa have been considered. Interest in Neto has probably gone. Casillas might be an expensive alternative.

RB: After the progress Bellerin has made I don't see a RB being a priority.

CB: St Et's Loic Perrin is also a consideration for Arsenal, as is Virgil van Dijk. Howedes may just be a possibility. Roma are losing the battle to get Alessio Romagnoli to sign a new contract but Inter has the edge over both Sampdoria and Arsenal who were very keen on the player. Dragovic, Glik and Subotic have been considered but interest is likely gone, as has interest in Hummels has gone. River Plate's Balanta has been watched by Arsenal, but nothing will happen there.

DM: Arsenal will look to Southampton's Schneiderlin this summer and I think a deal can be done. Biglia does not appear to be a viable option but has been looked at. Carvalho remains a player that both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in and his situation remains the same. He is for sale, but the asking price would need to come down to make any move possible. Khedira needs to get his act together and make a decision - put I suspect it will not be Arsenal. Asier Illarramendi has been of interest to Arsenal although a move is unlikely.

M: Fekir is a player of strong interest to Arsenal amongst others - Lyon do not want to lose him and Lacazette and are very difficult to deal with - but it is just possible. Certainly Arsenal are considering Calhanoglu and might move for him if Fekir is not available. Regardless of what Juventus say about wanting Vidal to stay, there is every chance he will leave Juve this summer and Arsenal has looked at him – but there is certainly no deal in place. Matuidi remains a possibility as he will probably be available and the club are aware of that. Bernard will be available but I doubt that Arsenal will consider rekindling their interest. Inter were looking to sell Kovacic and have spoken with Arsenal amongst other - the player does not want to leave at this time, and Inter will likely sacrificice Hernanes instead. Interest in Draxler has probably gone. The club will be approached about Arda Turan but I do not know if they will be interested at all. Arsenal have made an enquiry regarding Isco's availability. Interest in Gundogan seems to have been rekindled as he is still delaying signing a new contract – but I doubt a move to Arsenal will happen.

W/F: Dybala has been of sustained interest but he will not be moving to Arsenal. Arsenal will possibly turn to Jackson Martinez, Aleksandar Mitrović, Rodrigo or possibly Gonzalo Higuain as they cannot bring in their first choice.

Gameiro has been looked at and might provide a fallback position but there is interest from Marseille and Liverpool. Another alternative is Hoffenheim's Firmino, but Manchester City are already in talks. Kishna (I understand his agent wants him to move to Juventus) is probably no longer a consideration, and Lacazette is almost certainly not going to happen. Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali and Andre Ayew - are very unlikely. Arsenal's interest in Pedro remains. Whilst there is still possible interest in Reus, a move does not seem viable this summer.

Eintracht Braunschweig failed to make Bayer Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi's loan permanent in the summer amidst interest from both Hamburg and Hoffenheim. Interest from Stuttgart seems to have gone although Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham have had the player scouted this season - Chelsea has another solution in mind now. However, any move this summer is unlikely as he has signed a new long-term contract with Leverkusen.

Douglas Costa appears to be heading elsewhere and I suspect Arsenal have dropped their interest in him. Malcom and Tielmans have been looked at but there appears to be no interest. "Apparently" (an agent's "apparently"), Manchester United and Arsenal remain interested in Mandukic. I very much doubt it.}

Ed02 what about Vidal please tell me if u have any news? Thanx

{Ed002's Note - Obviously I wasted my time.}

2.) 25 May 2015 15:07:13
Absolute top post Ed002.

Note to everybody.

Read the above and stop asking the same questions time and again..please.

Thanks again Ed, you have covered everything from top to bottom.

3.) 25 May 2015 15:34:35
Great info Ed - you are not wasting your time.

If you had your pick - who would you go for?

I quite like the idea of Vidal, Cech and Martinez ( Benzema but no mention above)

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest from Arsenal in Benzema, but PSG are looking for a high-profile French signing in the summer - and Benzema is one of the options they are looking at. There will also be interest from Manchester United and just possibly Liverpool. But right now, PSG are still unsure if they can lure their preferred replacement to the club, and are to go through a tiny bit of upheaval as well.

I would think that Cech is certainly possible for Arsenal, but there is interest from elsewhere. Loic Perrin and Alessio Romagnoli have both been available to Arsenal but due to their ages offer very different but decent option - Wenger does not seen keen to commit. van Dijk was watched by representatives of Arsenal and Southampton yesterday but it is hard to see where the CB interest will end up. Schneiderlin is certainly viable. Fekir would be a great solution but Lyon will make it difficult and may drag it out all summer. Calhanoglu may not see a move to England as a good option at this time. Vidal would be expensive and very high risk. Jackson Martinez can be done if Arsenal want to do it - Rodrigo may be a viable option.}

4.) 25 May 2015 16:45:52
Why is Vidal such a high risk?

{Ed002's Note - Expensive, never played in England, language issues, culture issues, he is 28 so no youngster.

It made another English club step back from a deal previously.}

5.) 25 May 2015 17:22:01
Thank you ed! i cannot believe someone actually asked about Vidal after you just posted that. Ridiculous.

6.) 25 May 2015 17:22:27
You say PSG are looking for a high profile French player, Would they count Giroud as high profile? I can't help but think he would be a great option for them and possibly some-one we would have to move on to keep any incoming strikers happy? That's if we were to bring a high calibre striker in to the club. possible Benzema who Wenger is known to admire.

{Ed002's Note - Giroud is not high profile nor a player they have an interest in.}

7.) 25 May 2015 22:06:42
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a detailed update ed. You mentioned slight upheaval at PSG, could Arsenal move for Cavani? Talk about him in the media seems to have surprisingly gone quiet.

{Ed002's Note - I very much doubt it.}

8.) 26 May 2015 00:48:31
Thanks for the update. Romagnoli would be a great buy, but have you heard anything about Joseph Gomez? Seems like a good option as he's young, English, and we have links with Charlton. Cheers.

Further rambling for anyone interested:
I don't think Vidal will happen, but for footballing reasons rather than lingual. 9 senior players speak Spanish as well as the manager. That is generally not as much of a problem at Arsenal.
We'd play Vidal in a restricted deep central role, but he has much more to his game than that. We'd be paying for other attributes that he won't be using much at all. We already have Cazorla, Ramsey and Wilshere for the more free deep central role. Only player I could see going is Cazorla but his form is too good. Schneiderlin is cheaper and more specialised (though he can get stuff done up the pitch) so he's a better option. Carvalho and Wanyama are there as even more specialised options.
I'd love to see Cech come to the club. He's world class but old enough for Szczesny to work his way back into the team in a year or so. If we're going to buy a keeper now, we may as well get someone that is currently top class rather than a work in progress like Szczesny. Pointless sideways movement otherwise.
Fekir and Calhanoglu would be ideal as they're at the right age to inherit Ozil's spot as they're coming into their prime. Isco would be more expensive and I'm not sure where he'd fit in as Ozil is better and he doesn't seem to have the necessary skill to play deeper. Not Premier League wing material either. Too good for the bench so I don't see him coming here.

{Ed002's Note - Joseph Gomez is just a kid and I would doubt I would come across anything.}

9.) 26 May 2015 03:19:35
Ed002 = Queen. Thanks for the info

10.) 26 May 2015 12:46:47
Just want to say a big THANK YOU to ed002. Enjoyed reading your replies.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

11.) 26 May 2015 21:02:47
Thanks Ed002 for the update. It's this sort of quality info that brought me to this site, oh and the great banter page.

18 May 2015 14:11:05
Eds, can you please give an.update, apparently we want higuain, is this true, please clarify.

hzy

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed as far as I am concerned.}

13 May 2015 20:32:36
for ED002, apparently we are looking at placing a bid for Isco, is this just website nonsense or is they're any truth to it please. Many thanks.

hzy

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid made Isco available last summer - although priced at a level where all but a handful of teams could afford him. They also offered him to Chelsea in part exchange for a player but Chelsea were not interested. There was interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the past, but right now I am not aware of any interest that remains from these clubs. I am not aware of interest from Liverpool. Arsenal have made an enquiry regarding Isco's availability but their first choice is someone else as I have explained.}

1.) 13 May 2015 21:31:33
Our first choice been Dybala ED002, is it true that he has chosen Juventus or is that media speculation?

{Ed002's Note - Juventus has a deal in place subject to some odds and ends.}

2.) 14 May 2015 00:59:25
I'm sure ed said our first choice was fekir

3.) 13 May 2015 23:10:19
Ed02 is fekir is our first choice? Thanx

{Ed002's Note - Yes, and this has been done to death, you have to try using the search engine.}

13 May 2015 13:31:42
hi this is for ED002, apparently I've heard rumours that we are trying to buy Ilkay Gundogan from BVB, is they're any truth to that please.

hzy

{Ed002's Note - Gundogan was refusing to agree a new deal and Dortmund were willing to let him leave as he was seen as a shadow of his former (pre-injury) self. A couple of clubs were interested, including Manchester United and Manchester City, but an approach about his availability was responded to that a three year extension has been agreed between the club and player and details are being finalised. However, since then he has again refused to sign the contract with Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal rekindling their interest. Two recent additions that should be noted: (1) Although Barcelona are unable to sign players before 2016 they have approached Borussia Dortmund to agree a deal now that will be completed next January as their rebuilding begins. This would mean committing to waiting until January with the rest of the season probably on loan, which will suit Barcelona, but perhaps not the player (2) A retired German International suggested to me a few days ago that Bayern Munich will offer Goetze as part of a deal for Gundogan.}

1.) 13 May 2015 13:49:19
Cheers.

2.) 13 May 2015 18:56:55
no to discredit your source and it may very well be true but Bayern would be mad to do that in my opinion

{Ed002's Note - It has far from worked out well for Goetze at Bayern Munich.}

Hi ends now that dybala looks like he won't be an Arsenal player next season, are you of the understanding that Jackson Martinez is our number 1 target now.?

hzy

{Ed002's Note - RTFP}

1.) 26 May 2015 20:25:20
I have but I'm hearing all rumours benzema, martinez, Higuain, we must have a number 1 target, just wanted clarification in your opinion,

{Ed002's Note - So RTFP.}

13 May 2015 20:26:18
Hi ends can you let me know what strikers Arsenal are interested, keep hearing interest in Benzema, many thanks, also is Cech seen as a major target?

hzy

{Ed025's Note - use the search function mate, this has been answered on many occasions..

13 May 2015 13:33:07
Heard about Sterling leaving any chance of a swap deal with Walcott Ed, personally prefer a Benzene, Higuain type, please clarify.

hzy

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer questions with "any chance" in. It is also best to avoid complicating transfer with talks of "swaps".}

1.) 13 May 2015 13:51:28
Are we interested in Sterling ED002.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Arsenal interest in Sterling at this time although previously the club has shown interest. His agent has been wandering the streets looking for interest in the player.}
