Hi Eds, just a quick question - do you think there is any truth in this speculation about Mata? I think he's probably one of the best players in the EPL. {Ed001's Note - no I don't. Chelsea won't stand in his way if he wishes to go, but they don't want to sell him and I don't believe he wants to leave. They just want cover for his injuries.}

sally

1.) William is very good cover!

Hazard
De bryne
Mata
William
Oscar
Lampard
Essein
Mikel
Moses

They all can't play

2.) I think there might be a case Chelsea will sell Mata because they currently have 18 Non-homegrown players over the age of 21 and you're only allowed 17, and with the latest rumour they want Eto'o as well, then they have to offload at least 2 non-homegrown players before end of transfer window cause they can only register 17!
I think they will sell Mata, and if Eto'o comes in they will sell Ba as well!

3.) I think one of the Eds said that moses was availble

4.) Moses is "Homegrown" and wouldn't matter in this case if he was sold, they need to sell at least 1 "Non-homegrown" player, and my best odds go to Mata cause it looks like Mourinho doesn't think he fits in with his type of play.

5.) Moses is leaving, that leaves us with 6 attacking mids to fill 3 positions. The perfect situation for any manager with 2 players fighting for 1 spot in theory. If Mata leaves it will be to Spain. Forget that one, you can have Moses if you want though. A step up in your transfer business so far don't you think?

Oh dear, pods is out for ten weeks. So that means we have virtually no cover on the wings. If Giroud were to get injured now, we would be in serious trouble. With the Ox and Pods out we really need some attacking players.

This is getting silly.

I don't understand why we still haven't signed anyone. I think Wenger is a great manager - one of the best in the world - how he gets the results he does with our team is beyond me, but surely he knows we are in trouble. I think Wenger's job as manager should be to pick the team and get the best out of the players. If he has a few targets in mind, bring them in, but the board has got to have a bigger role in bringing in players.

sally

1.) Looks like we may be relying on Miyaichi and Gnarbry then.

Just watched the highlights of the Newcastle game and Ben Arfa was the only decent player they had on the pitch. I reckon a sneaky bid for Ben Arfa and Cabaye would be a good option. Could get them both for £30 million.

I think those two would give us more depth. At the moment I dread to think what would happen if pretty much anyone in our current squad is injured!

sally

1.) Yep I'd agree to that! Sign freebie flamini and a keeper and it looks a bit better than the pie in the sky players we are chasing like Suarez, Rooney and now Torres!

Hi Eds, great result today. Any chance of us bolstering up the team with Dimitri Payet?

Looks like a decent signing and a typical Wenger one. {Ed027's Note - joined Marseille this summer

HI ed, just a quick question really - who do you blame for our lack of signings? There was a bloke on telly, a former agent, who believed that Dick law was the main man for arsenal in completing transfers and that Wenger had little input, except from highlighting potential players and a possible price. Am I just being horrendoucly naive in thinking that the board must be playing a major part in stopping our spending. I know Wenger has short arms and long pockets, but he does genuinely seem to know that something is wrong with the club. I also think he loves the club. So surely the board should have gotten their act together sooner and either freed up funds or actually placed bids.
After what Lady Bracewell-Smith said, I think Silent Stan must have something to do with all this inactivity, which we are all sick of.
It's easy:
Cesar,
Sakho,
Bender,
Lamela,
then a few unknown frogs who can bolster up the team!

Just wondered if it might be worth a cheeky bid for Defoe. I think he would get more games at Arsenal and he is a quality player. With all the balls that we get into the box, he could score 15-20 a season I reckon.

{Ed022's Note - Have we fallen that low Sally? We've gone from Suarez, Rooney and Higuain to Jermain Defoe. I hear that Adebayor is available too. Why not double up?}

sally

Whilst we're about it let's get bidding for Lescott and gutted we missed out on Scott Parker!!

{Ed022's Note - It's ok because Gareth Barry is available...}

2.) Haha! I'll take that as a no then Ed! You've got to admit though, Adebayor is about as useless as a chocolate fireguard!

{Ed022's Note - You are right to take that (IMO) as a stonking big no. To both. Im as frustrated as you guys to be honest...}

Cheers Flybo - who do you favour out of those guys? I've no idea really who is available {Ed027's Note - sorry Sally must of missed you're comment at the end. Vidal is more or less no chance, he is ahppy at Juve, we'd be competing with the very best if he were available. Matuidu is in contract talks with PSG his future will become clearer soon. Bender is of interest from Arsenal, but Leverkusen don't want to sell, it would have to be a 20m+ fee to tempt them, I guess this scared Arsenal off. Schneiderlin is very much in Southampton's plans, he signed a new deal recently, and the only place Southampton are going is upwards. I don't know about the other lad, so it could well be him lol

Great post - I enjoyed reading that.

For all of those reasons above I would rather we didn't sign him for Arsenal. I think that we should sign more defensive cover and then strengthen our wings so that Walcott can play up front, if we need more pace. I would have loved to see Higuain at arsenal but nevermind.

I don't want to sign LS - he believes he is bigger than the club and that's wrong. Hanibal lector can go elsewhere.
