More transfer news take as you like. Willian deal should be completed by middle of next week. 3 year deal. His agent kia is receiving a hefty fee for this not sure how I feel. Same agent as coutinho and he is trying to push they deal through. As Ed002 said I believe about him he does seem to have his nails in arsenal.

It is a little concerning isn't it D16!

{Ed047's Note - definitely concerning Sally

D16.i have noticed that too, it is so worrying to have our deals being driven by agents. if Edu and raul can only do recruitment only through agents, they should both be fired.

On a good note also heard ceballos is close to joining. Imagine its a Loan again. And martinez has been offered a new deserved contract.

WTF is the club thinking? Willian is 31 and at best a squad player for Chelsea. We just bought Pepe for 72m and have Saka, Nelson, and the returning Smith Rowe all fighting for places. His wages will probably be huge - wages we need to be offering to new signings in positions we actually need or using to rebalance our books. This is going to be worse for the club than any of the bargain punts we took on Chamakh or Kallstrom by far.

Don't get me wrong, I think that this would be a stupid deal but only really down to his age and length of contract. If we were talking 2 years I might even be able to look past it because he is still a really good player. 3 years though is madness. However, he is still a very very good attacking footballer which would certainly make us more potent going forward, it's just a strange, expensive and risky deal.

Cam William play as a cam if so it might stop us going for coutinho.

An agent in charge of our transfer strategy? What's not to like about that!
Perhaps next we could ask Raver to pick our starting 11 all next season too and ask KFC to provide our players prematch menu.

A friend of mines father is friendly with somone in the club and said Coutinho deal is close, not sure how true this is do the Ed’s know anything thanks Ed’s.

{Ed002's Note - I have no way of knowing what is meant by "close".}

Have you heard any thing of a deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note -As has been explained: Philippe Coutinho (AM/LW) after missing out on Bruno Fernandes and Hakim Ziyech Spurs have enquired after Coutinho and been told that a loan fee would €30M for a season with an option to buy at €50M at the end of the season with any loaning club paying half his wages. I would expect any interested side to look for a significant reduction in such a deal. The player is being offered around PL sides. Barcelona will have to keep him if no takers are found although with a small amount of money owed to Liverpool still there may be room for them to negotiate - but I don't expect them to be interested. Leicester might offer a solution to get him off the books - but again there would be a need for some negotiation. Right now Barcelona will likely cut their losses and get the best deal they can as soon as they can - his "representative" may look to some sort of creative deal with an English side - but that could cause a delay but the overall package might need to be something like a loan at a low fee, the player taking a cut on his €215k pw week wages, with Barcelona contributing nothing, and an obligation to buy at a lower figure at the end of next season. Matteo Guendouzi plus some cash might work.

His "representative" has his nails in to Arsenal and is looking to suck them dry as their advisor.}

Great, someone else trying to use Arsenal for personal reasons, not the way forward in my opinion.
I'd rather take a chance on lower profile more appreciative options.
Arteta had to accept less wages at Arsenal than he was on at Everton to make his move to us happen, obviously he was reluctant to do so initially but he wanted to join us so much he took a chance.

Can anyone actually work out why we would need him? Maybe if we manage to lose Ozil perhaps, but not exactly the hard hitting central midfielder we so desperately need is he?

{Ed047's Note - no idea Epping, I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole

I'm sure Welsh would have settled for a simple. sorry, no update since last time. 🙄.

Any truth in the report that Auba was looking for a move to Chelsea last winter Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, when Chelsea were seeking an additional striker in January (at which time Giroud was leaving) there was a discussion about Aubamayangadingdong but Chelsea did not see value in the requested wages.}

03 Aug 2020 10:32:08
Very interesting Ed,
Are you privy to what type of wages the player and his representatives were looking for back then?
I’m just curious because reports this morning are that we are offering a 3 year 250,000 per week contract. If Ozil was not on the contract he is I think Auba would accept. However if they naturally want as lucrative a contract as they can get considering it may be his last big one and they see the club paying Ozil that then I would have serious doubts that our reported offer would be enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, just that Chelsea saw no value.}

Ozils wages shouldn't come into the equation, everyone in football knows Mesuts 350k wage offer was one of footballs most crazy decisions made for all the wrong reasons by people who had complely lost touch with reality at the time, and I'm sure all who were involved in offering Mesut that contract back then are embarrassed by thier decision back then.
Offer Auba the going rate for a player of his abilty and not a penny more and if it's not enough cash in and let someone else pay him more.
It's not fantasy football as I think the Mesut Ozil situation has proved and decisions need to be made logically for the greater good rather than emotionally and regretted later.

Any truth about raktic Ed’s.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Ivan Rakitic (CM) Being offered in part exchanges and being offered for sale to anyone who will listen. Sevilla are keen. The player has been open that he wants two years in Italy or Spain and then he wants to end his career in the MLS. Arsenal should not be looking at players his age and on his €250k per week wages if they want to move forward but Arteta has praised the player. He has also been offered to PSG and to Inter as part of a deal for Martinez.}

Hi Ed, rumours we are looking at Diego Carlos?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There would need to be the money found from somewhere and Arsenal is overrun with CBs.}
