This is how I see it.

Rafa Benitez likes to play 4-4-2.

He wants to play Ronaldo and Bale as his two front men, with Isco, James Rodriguez, Luka Modric and Tony Kroos in midfield.

So, Benzema is surplus to requirement.

Also, selling Benz to us, approx £45m, would give RM the finances to buy David Dr Gea and/or Marco Reus.

£45 million to Rafa benitez is an injured left back twice retired, he's never let a silly thing like his club having the money to spend stop him him spending it.
His spending makes Derby's 300 look reserved in comparison, sorry Derby:-)

Benitez likes a four,two,three,one formation. Benzema up top Ronaldo,Bale,Rodriguez or Isco in behind. With Kroos and Modric sitting in behind. That's the way he will play it. He may want to buy another twenty midfielders just in case! I need players and options he will pleed!
