heres a question,

what if we HAVE improved as a team.

but the two liverpool teams have improved dramatically, changing the dynamic of the league?

1.) 24 Apr 2014
I think it's hard to tell if we've improved given the injuries, you don't need eyes to tell the Liverpool teams have improved dramatically! ones going to win the league and the other is going to finish 5th

2.) 24 Apr 2014
I think it's difficult to judge Everton based on Lukaku being there only on loan. Take him away and would their position be the same? Possibly not.
As for Liverpool the players, especially the midfield and forwards completely suit the formation Rogers is playing. So the improvement on the red half of Liverpool has been quite dramatic. Obviously the amount of games and lack of injuries they have has made a significant difference.
Have we improved. In my opinion no because once again we don't last the race and we struggle to get over the line

{Ed025's Note - romelu has not been the main reason for the everton resurgence rocky, its down to the manager, his style of football and belief he has given to the fans is massive, lukaku has done well, but he is hardly prolific, 13 league goals is hardly ground breaking mate..

3.) 24 Apr 2014
I'm certainly not saying their a one man team but take his goals away and would they have had such a fast start to the season?

{Ed025's Note - you could say that about liverpool with suarez though rocky, i believe if everton had boney instead of lukaku we would be even higher mate!..

4.) 24 Apr 2014
I think people underestimate the impact lukaku and deulofeu have had at everton.

Lukaku takes quite a lot of worrying from the opposing defense that players like mirallas and naismith can run at the wingers and spread the defense.

Martinez has been shrewd with his loans, and I expect him to utilize that system and capture some more high quality players for next season aswell.

and while Lukaku may only have 13 goals, his overall game is trumps over our own 14 goal giroud who has done half the job Lukaku has done yet managed to score one more goal having a better midfield around him.

I would consider it a good season if we are able to win the FA cup and continue a strong finish to take into the next season.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but Barry on loan has been good for them too. And good for us -:). And fewer games? Martinez has done a great job though, deserves praise. Let's see how both Liver birds do with European matches (can't see Eveton falling to 7th Lol)

6.) 24 Apr 2014
True that Ed025. Martinez is such an awesome guy. He has done lovely jobs with Swansea, Wigan and is continuing his trend with Everton. Its totally not true that Everton is doing good because of one player.

Same doesn't apply for Liverpool. If Suarez was not in Liverpool, I m pretty sure that they wouldn't be in top four.
I m also pretty sure that if Arsenal would have been leading now by quite a margin if they might have signed Suarez! :)

{Ed025's Note - i think your right sen mate..

7.) 24 Apr 2014
Ed if you take anyone's main player out it affects the team. Got to agree about Everton though it's always the managers fault if it goes wrong but doesn't get the praise he deserves when it goes well

{Ed025's Note - thats because fans are so fickle twist, its all about instant success these days mate..

8.) 24 Apr 2014
That's the point. You havnt got someone like bony because that would mean buying them.

{Ed025's Note - we like to try before we buy rocky, its the way of the world now mate, the gulf between the have,s and have nots is so big, that a couple of loans is the only way proper less rich clubs can compete, FFP was supposed to create a level playing field, but i think we all know thats a sham, and like in society in general, the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer..

9.) 24 Apr 2014
Personally, I don't think Lukaku has impacted Everton that much, no more than say, Naismith.

Lukaku has 13 goals this season, certainly not enough to say Everton are a one-man team.

For me, Martinez has been the big difference.
Don't get me wrong, Moyes did a very good job. He kept them on an even kiel for about 9 years with limited resources.
They flirted with the top 4 on numerous occasions and always played attractive football.

For me, Moyes built the foundation for a decent team but Martinez has taken Everton to another level.

He is more adventurous than Moyes and shows more belief in his players, I'm not saying Moyes didn't, but Martinez shows me.

Also, Martinez doesn't single out players, either for praise or condemnation. He refers to them as "we", thus instilling solidarity into the team. So, if they get praised, its collective and not individual.

You have to ask yourself the question. They are flying high with Doofy Loofy, Gareth Barry and Lukaku, but would they be as high if Moyes was still at the helm?

10.) 24 Apr 2014
The thing with everton is that they were in a good position before, without the star names.

martinez has worked wonderfully, but the fact the club was on the cusp of success before he was installed helps.

in the sense that top division quality, 1st team players are willing to go there on loan/clubs willing to let them gain experience there, without the 'direct rival' conscience.

i am honestly more excited at what martinez is going to do this summer than wenger is, as a football fan,

as an arsenal fan i'm expecting arsene to buy someone like david villa, and bid for messi.

{Ed025's Note - good luck with that ink.. :)

11.) 24 Apr 2014
I agree with DG Martinez has taken Everton to a new level this season carrying on the fantastic job done by Moyes, and between the two of them with some very committed honest players have done exceptionally well on very limited budget.
Liverpool without Saurez? Top 4 contenders but Chelski without Hazard? City Toure?
Henderson Sturridge Sterling Flanagan and others have all improved massively this season and Rogers has done a brilliant job there.
The problem for Liverpool I think will be if Suarez goes how do they possibly replace him for city and Chelski replacing their two top men would be difficul but for Liverpool! Almost impossible

12.) 25 Apr 2014
Hey I said BID Ed25, ala suarez last summer, totally unrealistic bid made from speculation, and buying a half decent striker a year after we wanted him
