Ok, to Cesc or not to Cesc is still dominating this page, with the yes votes probably slightly on top. However even the yes voters probably accept that if we spend £30m getting him back we will have to compromise on our other targets, as we are not a plaything club for some rich oligarch with nothing better to do with his money.
So here are two options, would be interested to know what you would prefer:

A) Very top level Striker(i.e. Cavani or Benzema) + Top level CDM (i.e Bender) but no Cesc
or
B) Cesc but with cheaper striker (i.e Remy) and downgraded CDM (i.e. Shenderlin or Barry?)

We are not getting Cavani, his wages at close to 300k should tell us that.

Or c) buy cesc a decent forward and then either stick with our right backs and get a cheap dm or buy a cheap rb and make do in midfield.

I would go with c and try an approach for Martinez or someone around the same price area and caliber if possible.

A) without a shadow of a doubt.

Option A all day long.

Epping you got me thinking before with your crying into your Cavani shirt line and I'm now of the opinion we should blow the vast majority on Cavani and Pogba and then get Vela and Aurier who can also cover CB.

Thats it then, I would be forever happy. and back in the room. Lol.

Cavani and Pogba in new Puma Arsenal shirts stood next to Arsene on July 1st. :-)

Why should we compromise?
when was the last time we spent any money?
Granted, we spent £42m last time out, but before that?
The last time I remember us spending big was a few seasons ago when we spent £40m on Cazorla, Giroud and Podolski, but we also recouped £40m selling RVP and Song, so we didn't spend anything.

we have suffered 8 years of penny pinching and selling our best players to keep the boat afloat.

The stadia is paid for and we are financially sound.
We have £130m in the bank, plus we received £90m from TV revenue and placing from last season.

That's £220m in the bank, available for transfers.
We are Arsenal Football Club, supposedly an elite European team, one of the best, at least that's what the price of our season tickets suggest

why can't. We just have one transfer window where we splash the cash and buy the players we want?

No bargain basement trolley dash.
pick the player we want/need, pay the required amount and just buy them.

Simple?

Hey Dags welcome on board mate, phew you had me worried with all that talk of the bloke from Cheapside.
Let's ditch the bargain buy one get one free starting 11 signings, it has to be 4 and 5 star buys when where thinking of main players who will be needed to play 30 games plus, bargain buys for cover i'm not against at all but not as Cesc substitutes

Totally agree dags

Why spend 42 mill on Ozil if your not going to follow it up with equal quality players.

Add to your money totals the 2 new sponsor deals kicking in this summer, ( puma and new emirates deal ) you could argue that there are very few players which are financially unattainable.

No point drip feeding new signings in over the coming years this is a 1 off window where the foundation for the next decade should be created.
