For me it's a no brainer to play both Pea and Lacasette down the middle SY mate but we fans tend to think of the present while I think Dick is trying to install a system that will last us for the next 4 or 5 seasons, I'd personally would play 3 5 2 with the players we have and so probably would Dick if he was thinking short term people pleasing.
Apparently top snooker players think 4 or 5 shots ahead where the likes me think 2 shots at most, it's frustrating at the moment to not see us make the best of what we have but I think Dick is sowing seeds that will hopefully blossom into a prize winning garden of the year at some point while we just want the garden to look pretty right now.
City fans must have been frustrated with Pep in season 1 especially with his goalkeeping tactics but I'm sure they are happier now.

Anything that provides more width, playing 3 behind PEA and mainly using players who lack pace and prefer to come inside, means relying on the full backs too much for the width and leaving them exposed when out of position and a lack of cover, 4231 clearly isn't working if he sticks with it for a 4th game I don't know what to think! Problem with 3 at the back is all our cbs are rubbish! Does putting more of them on help them out, or just give them more people to get muddled up with and fall over? 😂 But totally agree laca has to start! When we played 433 end of last season with PEA out wide it didn't seem to diminish his out put, probably because less of the focus was solely on him 4213?
Guen torrira
Ozil
Miki laca PEA
I'm not convinced miki offers much out wide though, but who do we really have with pace to threaten opposition full backs and make them apprehensive about being caught up field, totally left field option that would never happen of bellerin on the right, at least he would track back and cover lich well.

That's some good faith you have there g62 😊 and fair play to him if that is what he's doing and it works out, but surely if the players don't fit the system and you're stuck with the players til January at least, you have to alter the system to get the results or you could not have the chance to see the end of your 4-5 year masterplan, but then when I play pool I only think about potting the first ball and then snookering myself 😊.

Sometimes you have to suffer to achieve things. If some players are not up to it and that is what i think, it will be a case of suffering until Dick and Mislintat decide which players can and which can't and steadily bin them and replace, with the type of player required. Please remember, it is all new to the players and coach, until this summer neither had met. Like the saying goes you can't make silk purse out of a pigs ear. And wenger left a few pigs ears.

Eden mate i personally would go for the shortest route to top 4 challenging and go from there but Dick seems to be putting the system first then finding out who can or can't fit into it.
Mate if I can pot a ball without the cue ball following it in to me that's my two shots ahead;-)

I am generally not a fan of the so called 3-5-2 as it really is a 5-3-2 unless you play two attacking players as the wingbacks rather than fullbacks. However, watching the game on Saturday I think it makes sense currently, as we probably should sacrifice an attacking player to make space for a defender, which i think will give us a better balance. let's be honest, you could easily remove Iwobi from the team and replace with Holding, and it wouldn't really make much difference to us as an attacking threat, but probably would contribute more to our defense. I would also like to see Lacca and Auby up front together but you then have the issue of having lots of (expensive) players competing for the 1 attacking midfielder spot (Ramsay, Miki and Ozil) ? In fact currently, with us being so fragile i could argue that we should sacrifice all 3, especially in the next 2 away games, and play a slightly more solid (on paper) midfield 3 of Torreira, Xhaka and Ghouzi.

Eden maybe Welbeck could do a job at RB and then Mkhitaryan being played behind a front 3.Welbeck, Laca, Auba.
