Admittedly I only watched the highlights but you boys looked good yesterday, I’m looking forward to the cup game. It looks like we both have options going forward but are potentially dodgy at the back so we might get a high scoring game. I also think it’s between the two of us for 4th, or 3rd if Spurs implode without a striker for 6 weeks. Sarri’s comments about his team were Mourinhoesque so I see Chelsea sliding away.

It’s a shame we’re fighting over 4th and not 1st but give it time. How are you all feeling about next Friday night?

Should be a gloves off no hold bars cup game. Winning an FA cup won't help either team much as far a going forward is concerned but it should be blood and thunder.

Some of my favourite and worst games are cup games with Arsenal, the semi finals of ‘83 and ‘99 were great, although I can’t watch the ‘79 Final wthout feeling physically sick, even after all this time.

The cup game is a fan pleaser not a season maker as LVG discovered.
Both clubs need to be challenging for titles to call a season a successful one by their standards, obviously that's the long term target with the immediate target being 4th place and champions league football.
I think if Ole gets 4th he gets a contract while for Dick 4th isn't a necessity this season where only clear and obvious progress is really expected from him.

I love the fa cup and hope we win it. It is a great trophy for me and would be a success if we win this as it is a trophy.

In the modern game it's no longer enough for managers of City United Liverpool to deliver and have a guaranteed job at the end of it.
The game has changed and for big clubs success is decided in the league and champions league where the domestic cups are merely stocking fillers.
If you enjoy it Stephen then that's all the matters mate, for me i enjoy all big games against other big clubs with the league and champions league games being the most interesting followed by fa cup and Europa league games then the league cup which is neither here or their really, I'm not sure to many people would miss the league cup If it stopped.

I think we all enjoy the fa cup but the truth is, it is just a football jolly. The real test and money for the bigger clubs is the league, then champs league and the europa league. The prize for them and the kudos is on another level.

AJH I wouldn't write Chelsea off especially if they sign Higguain, he could easily be the piece that makes everything else come together for them.

Nah, the Manager is losing the squad at Chelsea, I think they’re in trouble. Maybe it’s because I’m an old bugger but I love the FA Cup. I accept that many don’t care any more but for me it remains a major trophy: we had the best record until you overtook us but I love it. The best game I ever went to was the semi in ‘83, I was 18 and it still feels like the best atmosphere ever. Looking forward to Friday.

I was 21 mate :-) . THE STEVE FOSTER FINAL:-)
Beauty in in the eye of the beholder and if people still value the fa cup then of course it's still valuable but the premier leagues huge sums of money means Teams at the top rest players in order to either win the title or make top 4 while teams at the bottom play weaker teams in order to try and stay out of the bottom 3 and even championship sides field weak teams in pursuit of premier league riches.
For lots of fans and lots of players the fa is still a big thing but for clubs it's the fizzy drink rather than the starter main or desert.

It's a shame but 4th place is so much more important than winning the fa cup.
Find a way to get all clubs from all divisions to value the fa cup again and you bring back the magic.
