Hi all,

Been a while since I've posted, hope all are well!

Eds, any news if we've looked at Higuain?

He's in devastating form at the moment, and is the striker highest on my wish list - probably the most attainable too!

Would much rather have him over Morata!

Thanks!

Iraaj.

IraajV

{Ed001's Note - why would he be the most attainable? He has settled in Naples and is held in almost as high an esteem as Maradona was. I wouldn't hold my breath on getting him, though Napoli would have to consider silly offers.}

1.) 25 May 2016 18:39:29
thats the most sense iv heard all year ed. he suits how napoli play don't think he would bang that many in for us. italian football suits him.

2.) 25 May 2016 20:22:40
Higuain would be almost perfect for us, but like Ed1 said we've got almost no chance of getting him.

Napoli don't need to sell and even if the player wanted to leave he'd still command a big fee and big wages. He'd also draw interest from Chelsea, PSG etc and we simply can't/ won't compete with them.

3.) 25 May 2016 21:55:59
Many thanks for your reply Ed!

Are we not looking to pay the big fee and wages he commands if we want what he brings to the team - goals.

We're going to have to learn if we're spending £30M+ on midfielders, we're expected to pay far more for the strikers who get us the goals to win the league.

In terms of attainability, my opinion is simply I thought he'd be more likely to leave than say Aubs/ Benzema/ Lewandoski.

I'm not too keen on the idea of Morata, but that's my two cents.

And Sanogo, I think he would be the perfect fit for us. He has some pace (more than Giroud) , clinical finisher and can play with his back to goal. The thought of Ozil behind gives me goosebumps (Ozil behind any quality striker would send shivers down anyone's spine) .

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that Higuain is 28 now, which means you are buying a player that has had long term injuries right at what would be a peak age, if he had not had them. As he has had them, there is a very good chance that he is already on the decline.}

4.) 26 May 2016 08:55:11
Agree. That is a Football manager signing, not a real life signing.

The premier league has become exponentially more physical over the past 5-7 years and aging players will always struggle unfortunately.

Example: Rooney with out his pace and power.

ed, what's the current position regarding sakho? i've read he's available, but then some are saying spurs have also enquired. would absolutely hate it if he joined the spuds, as I absolutely love sakho, and if he goes there, then i'll have to loathe him. {Ed044's Note - From Ed02 on the Liverpool page: Sakho has been on the list of targets for many clubs over the past year or so - Monaco, Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there has been some interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and even possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Baader has explained that AC Milan and Liverpool have recently enquired about his availability - but at that time PSG were not keen on selling and the player was then keen to stay. However, Laurent Blanc remains concerned about his attitude and would be willing to let him move on - that could be facilitated after the departure of Leonardo who had been lending him support. Would be an excellent buy for Liverpool if Agger or Skrtel were to move on, and not out of the question - but no offer has been made by the club whilst AC Milan are actively pushing for a deal. Napoli are also considering Sakho as an alternative to Alderweireld but have been put off by the asking price - they might still seek a loan.}

IraajV

1.) Cheers for the reply Ed. I really hope Wenger expresses his interest in Sakho and something materialises. Him and Kos at the back would be, I think the only way to put it, beastly! Would be ideal for the upcoming world cup too, playing together in a club can only benefit the country.

2.) We should be raiding PSG, so many good players they don't want! we should go for a triple swoop I reckon - Sakho for defence, clement chantome for midfield (him and flamini for DCM) and to complete the set Jeremy Menez - three players not wanted, 3 players to fill much needed positions in the squad. I would still take micah richards for the squad/competition. Also from Real I would rather Benzema & Kaka oh and a goalie so 8 players total! that's good enough for me, except for benzema no bif transfer fees so Wenger is happy too!

Eds, any interest shown in Luca Marrone at all? Plays for Juve in the CM role, stands at a healthy 6"1', quick feet, great vision of the game.

Copthorne Gooner {Ed022's Note - No interest that I know or have heard of im afraid. Not to say there isn't though...}

Hi Eds and fellow Gooners,

Following the picture that was uploaded from Balotelli's girlfiend's Instagram (those who haven't seen it, it's them two stood infront of a pane of glass with the Arsenal crest and Puma logo), is there any genuine interest still in him?

What do you guys think of him? Would he be a good fit for Arsenal? Would Wenger be able to tame him?

Many thanks!

IraajV

I think she's one of the hottest women I've ever seen

Ever

2.) If you are talking about AW having to tame someone then that person is no good for Arsenal, all our energy has to be concentrated with on field matters, not messages on T Shirts

3.) Usg as I was once told for every hot woman you see there is some fella somewhere sick to death of "listening" to her ;-)

Eds, any truths in the reports that Ozil is now ill, and could possibly not play on Sunday? I know he missed training but he is travelling with the squad.

Would be absolutely devastated if he wasn't able to play. Been looking forward to tomorrow for too long now! {Ed027's Note - yes

I heard that Hulk was available to Spurs for a season long loan for 10 Mil.

Now, I think Hulk is severely over rated, but I think even I'd be interested in that.

Any other thoughts?

Also, not believing the Ozil transfer till I've seen it on Arsenal.com!

But, when Wenger said about signing someone that's super quality, Ozil is definitely that. But I don't think that type of player should have been our top priority. Still, I'm super delighted to have such an extraordinary player amongst our ranks, fully fledged first team international.

How can Liverpool be going after Sakho publically and we can't?

Even with Champion's League to offer this season, players are seeing clubs like Spurs and Liverpool and thinking they're more ambitious than us, planning for next season and they will have a higher chance of getting 4th spot than us.

I'm not angry, I'm thoroughly disappointed and upset. Feel really let down.

Good evening fellow Gooners.

Does anyone feel like we don't need [you don't want] Cabaye? I really don't think he's going to fix the void in our midfield. I see him as a playmaker, and I don't think that's a position that needs to be strengthened, AT ALL.

I'm not sure what the thinking is behind signing Cabaye, if anyone has any better ideas, please do enlighten me.

Furthermore. WHY IS KONDOGBIA NOT IN AN ARSENAL SHIRT YET?!? *sad face*

Hoping some announcements are made after the Fenerbache match, and in time for the on the weekend.

Keep your heads up lads and ladies. Not all is lost. COYG!

Copthorne Gooner

IraajV

1.) Yeah I agree mate, not sure what their thinking about cabaye. Would much rather see a strong cdm come in instead. Why buy a player and change their game to fit a position, why not buy a player that fits the position? I would prefer a keeper than cabaye, a position we've needed strengthening for some time.

2.) If only Wenger had continued to play Petit in defence, Henry on the Wing and Lauren in midfield.

or more recently Carzorla had pretty much only played on the wing before we signed him.

The thought of Bastian wearing an Arsenal Shirt, in real life (as opposed to FIFA). Brings a tear to my eye.

I would eat my mattress if that happened. Luckily for me, I can't see it happening.

He can't go to Brazil because the transfer window has shut there. Its going to be a move within Europe. I can see United possibly getting him, they need that CAM style player.

Eds, I've already professed before, but I feel due to my love for Ed022 I'm suffering from FGA - Fatal Gooner Attraction.

You make the length of the transfer window almost bearable.

{Ed022's Note - I am here to help fellow Gooners through the window. Just comfort yourself with the fact I am suffering with you all! As for the FGA, as long as you don't start boiling bunnies then I welcome the love!}

Do you reckon the board read websites like these and get a kick out of it?

I read that he said that there wasn't as much available as everyone making out to be.

"The desire of the players to join us [makes me confident] and the fact that we have - maybe not as much as everyone writes - but we have some funds available to do the transfers."

So we don't have a £70Mil + war chest? Can any Eds clear this up? {Ed027's Note - we do

I completely agree with you!

The thing I, I don't think Wenger does see this. He's so blinded by philosophy of nurturing young players, he whole heartedly believes we can win the title, or at least "compete", with the current squad we have, which we all know we can't.

Bony and Michu will be a lethal partnership. But I agree with Laudraup, I remember when we played Swansea for the first time last season, and the commentators said, and I quote "Swansea are playing Arsenal football against Arsenal".
Could be a great season for them!
