any news on carlos vela?is he staying spain permanently or is he coming back for us after this season?i truly hope hes coming back for us,great speed,good shot and good trippling,just deserves to get a proper change for us in i think.what you guys think?

P.s. when Arsene was asked why he didn't bring in a new CB last seasn he said 'so what you're asking is that I kill Johan Djourou?' - except what he has done is kill Park and kill Vela - absolutely disgusting way to treat players. How can you let Bendtner (who scored every 2 games BTW, or assisted) and Vela (untapped potential waiting to be harnessed, polished and unleashed) and bring in Park and never play him, and expect us to be ok.

Its a shame,i would give vela more time in the pitch than crapmakh or park,why an earth wenger put give on loan?!?btw any truth on pep guardiola coming for us in summer?

Vela has already said he wants to stay in Spain, possibly signing for sociedad permenantly, it's a Shame because he's one of the best young finishers I've ever seen, just needed an extended run in the team, as for the guy/gal who asked about pep, it's all circumstantial mate, he never said he'd like to come to us, he may stay at barca, he only signs one-two year contracts as it allows him flexibility in his project, plus it gives him leverage, if a board won't give him the cash he wants, he'd only have to put up with it for 6 months then leave, a lot of people say he's most likely to go to inter of anywhere, we'd appeal to him in that we play similar football, but the difference is, if Barcelona's defence arent playing well, they can usually just out score any opposition, if ours is playing badly, RVP gets isolated and we have no other great goal threat (honestly, after RVP it's the ox or Vermalen who threaten most in my eyes!) so he'd want a mad budget, even if we did free up say �60m for him, we'd have to flog our deadwood (would you buy squilacci?) and conform to the home grown rule and to be blunt, pep inherited a team from frank rikjard that already had a core of cavi iniesta, valdes, puyol, Eto and Henry amongst others, then just tweaked it, with us, and knowing peps tactics, we'd probably only keep Wojech, Tv5, Sagna, wilshere, RVP and the ox in our first team, he'd want a disciplined tough tackling midfield bully who wouldn't break ranks like his busquets or monster mash, because song isn't nearly that role, we'd need another attacking winger who produced results, not like theo, plus an attacking lb and another cb, basically a major reshuffle and were not talking �5m players, we're looking big bucks mate, so to sum it up, it's unlikely

I don't think he has the presence to be the loan striker in the epl.

I feel like if Vela goes permanently, Wenger will be wise enough to add a buy back clause. He is a player that will develop in Spain and I still think has bags of potential. Sad he could never find form at Arsenal.

I think wenger can do it if he spends, The OX is not ready yet, but theo is not the answer...

Ox and Ryo should be our backups for the wings.

I have heard we are in for pato, and a 25 million bid would do as AC milan still want tevez. As great a player pato is he is forever injured.

Torres should be on sale between 15-20 mill, i think wenger can make it work.

We need to sell our crap, Almunia, free to go, Vermalen and koser need more game time together. per is an amazing backup if at all, we need to go for Jan vertongen or samba.

Djourou, should be sold, miquel promoted and play cup games

arshavin, chamakh, park, bendtner, vela, denilson, diaby, walcott should be sold thats nearly 50 million in sales or more depending on how much they give us for walcott and chamakh and arshavin.

We need to have ramsey and arteta come off the bench

gervinho on the left wing, gotze on the right, wilsher in the middle, rvp up front and we can improve drastically.

I do hope we land podolski and gotze.

I honestly believe that we need only 4 players in the summer (but wenger will probably by 'the next best thing' from somewhere as well...

Anyone else think we threw the Milan game and this game? Bare with me ok - we all said it after Spuds were knocked out of europe, that Harry 'blatantly' threw the game so they could focus on getting back into the champs league. They have a squad brimming with talent and players like Pienaar couldn't even get games, and they're miles ahead of us in the league. They have sod all injuries and are currently laughing at us, but the point is the world felt they threw it.

Now, I know this goes against every so-called principle AW might have and certainly goes against the ethos of the club - but then again, these are unfamiliar times for us. Not a single thing is going right with this club right now. This is not normal. Ok maybe the last few years yes, but I think it's now come to a head, and desperate times call for desperate measures.

How can we justify our tactics against the retirement team on weds? Arsenal used to play good pass and move footy and were lethal on the break. Now we're useless, can't pass, can't cut a defence open and don't seem to ever make a break count. Our players are simply TERRIBLE. I know AW does everyone's nut in with his parental support of the players regardless of their performance but he just know how shyte they are. Sorry I'm waffling, the point is the tactics for Milan were wack.

They were wack today too. You're in a cup you could quite easily win, so what did AW do? He played miserable, tired players and unfit players, and non-first-choice players. What. The. Hell.

We could have looked like this against Sunderland today:

Szcz,
Yennaris, Miquel, Vermaelen, Coquelin
Rosicky, Arteta
Arshavin
The Ox, RVP, Park.

Explained: Sagna unfit, Yennaris very capable. Miquel over Squid or Djourou any day. He;s Spain's U19s captain for a reason people. Coquelin- best LB we've had since A Cole left IMO, good choice today by AW, gutted about the injury. The worrying thing is that AW would have picked Gibbs or Santos had they been fit, despite how blatantly good Coquelin is at LB.
Song, Arteta and Ramsey are a terrible combo. They've proved this time and time again this season. IMO Song needs a break, and some instructions. Arteta's our best mid right now. Rosicky's been good this season and has creativity. Could also have used Yossi today, he would have loved being on the pitch, he plays with passion too and he's a chav. Arshavin, for all his flaws, still has that killer pass and should have been played. It's no wonder we suck going forwards when Arteta's busy defending, Song's awol and Ramsey goes the wrong way and has the creativity of a fart.
The front 3 IMO would have taken Sunderland apart with Arshavin feeding them.

Le Grove always goes on Park 'blatantly being rubbish' however I 100% disagree with this - he blatantly has talent and hunger and a great strike too. AW is a total f***nut for the way he's treated Park when the guy so obviously has goals in him. He is an out and out striker and he is rotting at our club.

Today's line up especially the midfield was a disgrace. Milan's performance was a disgrace. Is it the players, the manager or both?

Somehow my cynical side is telling me that that 25m loss is looking way less attractive/ way more problematic than the board would have us believe. The stupid thing is if we can really afford not to have that money then why not just spend it on a player or two who would improve us and probably guarantee us top 4?

I am starting to think AW cut his lossed and threw everything this season because, as much as we hate this fact, an FA Cup win or Carling Cup win or Champs League semis would have been 100% meaningless if we didn't make top 4, in terms of rebuilding the squad. Because if we are serious about a big singing or two in the summer, then we 100% need to be in the champs league. End of story. So for me, this week is no surprise, I think it's been thrown to a point. Or maybe not thrown, but maybe the bi-product of being knocked out is a silver lining AW will grab with both hands.

He has til the end of this season either way, I think his time is done and we all know it.

I posted recently before the Sunderland league game that i would take being knocked out of the Champions League and the FA Cup for 9 points in the next 3 league games. Little did i know that AW would be reading my post.

Very Interesting Post... It could well be the truth or at least the silver lining as you mentioned. Good way to look at it.

The solemn truth is one way or the other, we as arsenal fans will keep supporting our team. The reality is we are so mediocre, we just have to get used to it.

Agree that we might have "thrown" the games to focus on making fourth but if you think Park and Arshavin are good then your raving! The truth of the matter is wherever we end up this season Wenger must go, his tactics are stale and he fails to motivate his players who technically are some of the best in the world but fail constantly to perform as a unit. Vermalean is alongside Vidic as the best Centre half in the league Sagna is proven to be the best right back in the division and Koscilney has improved to the extent he would make most teams in the league and yet we cant defend? Thats down to tactics and mentality both of which have grown stale under Wenger in the last 3/4 years. United have the worst team they've ever had and are relying on two OAP's to carry the team and yet they're 2 points of the top! The Fergie factor carries them over the line every year, tactically and mentally they are unrivalled and such a combination of Factors has been missing in the Arsenal camp since they left Highbury for the Groove

Arshavin is a good player, why does everyone get on his back, also your not an Arsenal fan if you say that your own players are rubbish. We need possitivity going into the Spurs game. Show Some Support!

WTF is the point of making such a big deal about finishing in the top 4 if AW is prepared to throw the game to finish in the top 4??? ludicrous

You do have a point there because usually if arsenal wanted to win there football would be a lot more attacking with plenty of crosses and eye of the needle through balls but there was none of that because it seemed like all of our attacking intent just deserted us.

You would think that after a demolition job at Blackburn and solid a result against a resurgent Sunderland team that they would go to Milan brimming with confidence but nothing and again a chance to progress in the F.A Cup with a tricky fixture away to Sunderland you would feel like they had something to prove but once again nothing.
