Why are we even looking at weise I've seen him in a couple of games and he's been terrible has anyone seen the goal Daniel cousin scored into him I'd stick with fab

Believable8 Unbelievable3

From what I'm aware of, we aren't interested in Weise, it's just peoples thoughts, that said, don't know which games your watching mate, but Weise has been brilliant for Werder this year, he's likely to go to euro 2012 along with Neuer and one of the many up and comers like Bernd Leno (who's displaced Adler at Bayer Leverkusen)and Marc-Andre ter-stegen.

D

Agree0 Disagree0

Google weise mistakes and there is a page full of blunders wear hes handed the other team the game

Agree0 Disagree0

You could say the same
About sczeszny of last season, or almunia every season since that one where he wasn't terrible.

Just because someone has compiled a site of bad things is irrelevant.

It'd be like someone making a website of all the great things David Cameron has done ( of which there a few to none) and you reading that, but not the terrible things and believing he's a great politician.

Apparently we're keen on Gylfi Sigurdsson, the on loan midfielder at Swansea from Hoffenheim

Probably around £8-10m I reckon, and from current showings I wouldnt mind!

D

Believable9 Unbelievable15

He is absolute quality mate, if he can do that well there he could do well here.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear that mate! My only concern is would he start in the spare space, next year wilshere (all being well) and song will occupy two of our three midfield places, the third would be up for grabs, but would sigurdsson make it his own?

What do people know about Simon Kjaer?
Free in the summer, defender for Roma, normally worth around 7-9 mil approx.
Anybody think he is worth signing?

Nick.

Believable8 Unbelievable14

Isn't he only on loan at Roma? Saying that I swear he's back at Wolfsburg now?

Anyway im probably wrong!

The problem is we were interested when he was the next " big thing" at Palermo and never made a move for him, since then he's rarely done anything to make people take notice, I fear he'd just be like Djourou, incredibly hit and miss, to be honest it's looking more and more likely that we'll get Verthongen and if the M'bia rumours are true he's a cdm by trade who plays cb for Marsielle, which with a trio of Vermalen Koscielny and Mertesaker, already without jv then M'bia would he a great cdm or deputy cb, essentially mate that's my long winded way of saying i think no!

But nice to see people thinking outside the paper reported players!

D

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure we were linked to him a couple of years ago - he was being touted as a top centre-half in the making and was playing at a high level for someone so young - i havent heard much of him for a while, dont really follow italian football but apparently he's out of favour - and once your out of favour in italy thats your career in italy over... thats not to say he couldnt do a job for us.... if we sold djourou in the summer (which i cant see happening) then for a free 4th choice why not...
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

He wasn't good enough for wolfsburg and isn't doing well with roma too. how could he make it at arsenal? he's a big flop, was probably the most promising danish talent a couple of years ago but certainly not anymore.

iceman

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely not more talented than Nicklas Bendtner?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Pakistan AFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Douglas from fc twente is available on a free and is better than kjaer. Apparently Newcastle are linked with him
And may bag themselves another quality player.
Imranredman

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm from Denmark. Simon is not out of his contract this summer. He will be going back to Wolfsburg. I don't see him going to Arsenal. Makes to many mistakes. He is losing his place in the starting 11 for Denmark to a player in the danish Superliga, so find someone else.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah... Was an exeptional talent when he played for palermo, but hasn't evolved the way us danes hoped he would. He is a decent player, but not good enough to play for arsenal. a.t.m. we have I. Miguel, who is a much better prospect that Kjær.

Anyone else prefer the idea of signing M'Villa over a playmaker? I think him paired with song behind wilshire would be incredible. As much as I love song, always seen him as too much of a roamer and a bit under-sized to hold down the fort on his own. Really think wilshire would play best as the most advanced of the midfield 3 as well. Combine that with Arteta, Rosicky and Ramsey rotating in with an emerging Coquelin and we probably have the best midfield i the prem. Not to mention the 17 million guestimate on M'Villa is half the price it would cost to bring in a world class playmaker. Your thoughts Ed?

Curious gooner {Ed002's Note - Inter Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus have all shown a determined interest in M'Vila and perhaps PSG will become interested as well. I think he would be a great buy.}

Believable26 Unbelievable6

Wenger said he wants to add quality over quantity. Keep it in mind guys.

Stefan

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree stefan, but does wenger consider quality?

BGDgooner

Agree0 Disagree0

*what does wegner consider quality

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Podolski and M'Vila may be our only 2 signings barring some last minutes bargains. But let's not forget we have a long list of players leaving (this excludes those on loan who have effectively left).

1. Almunia
2. Fabianski
3. Squelch
4. Yossi
5. Chamakh
6. Park(?)

Based on the above, it seems we will be short on GKs (apparently Weise is free this summer) and Attackers.

Podolski, Miyachi, Joel Campbell to come in. Maybe M'Vila although I wish we were signign Christian Eriksen.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think Ramsey will be great for us when wilshere is back

RG

Agree0 Disagree0

M'villa , it may seem that we don't need him however if we do it would mean we don't need an attacking mid.
Why? Well because if we change to a 4231 formation then we have
..................song....M'vila
W....................wilshere................W
W=Gerv/walcott/podolski/aoc/miyachi/...

Rather than getting another Attacking Midfielder especially as Gotze has signed a new contract.
This would mean that we have the likes of Frimpong, coquelin,Arteta,Rosicky, walcott,(podolski?)miyaichi and others would have to work for a place in the team.
So it would force them all to work harder which is only good.
It would help the defence.

No chance. never forget the manager and club your talking about

Greg

Agree0 Disagree0

Dream on...

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant buy too many players. also the ones that we have are fairly young. Dont expect us to buy Vertonghen to keep him as a emergency sub...players in their prime want to play and its not about money.

if we pick up the chamkhs and denilsons of this world they will happily sit on the bench and produce nothing...but if you want quality...its hard to convince them to be bench players...unless you pay them alot...which we dont...hence we rely on youth with quality and buy 1st team quality...and thats our depth.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that how you beat Barca/Real Madrid in Football manager... come back to eart mate.

couple of weeks ago wenger gave a press conference and during which suggested we are looking to bring in more than one forward player.when asked about podolski he said 'yes (we want to sign him because we want to add SOME offensive strikers.' well today the express have us linked with clint dempsey again.ed - do you know if there was genuine interest in him last summer? i heard we had enquired about him.i think if wenger wants a second forward signing after lukas,he could do a lot worse than dempsey.great attitude,hard worker,versatile and very clinical in front of goal, knows the league.seems like a no brainer {Ed002's Note - Dempsey has a simple to agree to stay at Fulham or to look for a move elsewhwere. If he looks to move on, then he will likely have several clubs, including Arsenal, looking to sign him. I don't think it is out of the question, but at 29 I am not so sure Arsenal would wish to spend too much on the player.}

I think i did this a while ago but i am going to make a better team for Arsenal on a budget of nothing but player sales.

Bit of fun...

Outs:
Bendtner - 8 mil
Denilson - 4 mil
Vela - 5 mil
Djourou - 4 mil
Squilaci - 1 mil
Almunia - A can of coke
Arshavin - 6 mil
Chamakh - 8 mil
Fabianski - 3 mil
Benayoun - Loan return

=39 mil

Ins:
Weise - Free
Dzagoev - Free
Podolski - 11 mil
Vertonghen - 13 mil
Flamini - Free

=39 mil

Total spent = 0!

Leaves us with:

Am i the only one who thinks that is a better team than the one we have now, with no money spent at all? If anything a profit is made due to all the expensive ticket prices.

I never knew that they were so expensive until i was told on this site.

Crazy.

But back on to the team that i made, what more could you ask for with money spent only from sales? i think thats pretty fantastic and hopefully you guys see it aswell.

Nick.

Believable13 Unbelievable25

Few of your price estimations are way out, 8m for chamakh? vela 5m? djourou 4m? and almunia isnt even worth a can of coke

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud for 9mil? {Ed002's Note - And Dzagoev will not be free in the Summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

While I like all the Ins and Outs, you've seriously undervalued Holtby, especially when you bring in the fact that he's german so has more value in the german league

Agree0 Disagree0

Hah 9 mill for giroud, that was a nice dream but it's time to wake up

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a good plan, and I'm sure its something Wenger has been trying to do for a while now, but first of all you,ve got to find someone willing to buy your players and buy them at the value that you put on them. Then you have the problem of the players not wanting to leave, maybe they are on a very big salary that they wont be offered by a new club, or maybe they see their contracts running down and the chance to leave on a free in a year or two's time.
I'm afraid that the power is with the player, if he doesnt want to leave, he just sits there and collects a massive cheque up every month.
Message to Wenger,
When you buy young, unknown players, get them initially on a long contract with very low wages ( still ridiculously high ), then we wont need to negotiate wages when they break into the first team and be worried because they are entering the last year or two of their contracts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some decent names in the mix there, but not even slightly realistic. We are only going to make 2-3 signings and expect to see some loan players coming back (Miyachi / Joel Campbell).

I would be very surprised if we signed Giroud - I imagine he will either stay of go to PSG. A team who are also keeping tabs on belhanda.

I like the idea of Weise, but I suspect he will want to mvoe to a club where he is in the the starting XI. Perhaps a club like Lazio. That said, I do think we need cover for our GK. Martinez and Mannone do not have enough experience for me...

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

GIROUD would cost nearer the 20 million mark im afriad!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2012 03:48:24
In - podolski , mvilla 17 milion?,hoilett subs?vertoghen multipurpose .

Out - squallaci, bendtner,p.chu yong, miyachi ? Maybe on loan if hoilett arrived

Believable15 Unbelievable1

For what possible reason would Miyachi go? He's been setting the loan clubs he goes to, on fire.

He is due a BIG Arsenal pay cheque come next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Outs:
1. Almunia (free)
2. Fabianski
3. Squillaci
4. Denilson (Santos)
5. Arshavin (Zenit)
6. Yossi (return)
7. Chamakh
8. Vela (Real Soc)
9. Park
10. Bendtner (Sunderland)

Of the 10 players listed 6 have been 'resolved'. Which means along with buying players, Wenger still have to place 4 players.

Wenger will be aware of his squad side and not make moves on players like Hoilett (surplus requirement) until we have resolved some of the above player's situtations.

Can someone please tell me if Lukas Podolski is signing for Arsenal? Im dying to know and if he is when would it be announced or why is it not announced? Ed and others if you can please help :D

TomArsenal

Believable9 Unbelievable1

It can be announced, & he they can all sign a pre contract agreement. BUT he is not allowed to sighn a contract until the window opens. So whilst it looks very likely, don't count ur chickens just yet.
