For the last 8 years we've transitioned from THE men, to the nearly men, to the not near enough men, and sadly to the nowhere near men. It's been a steady flow one way. Backwards.

The time for could be's and what ifs is over.

'Project Youth' can work, but not on its own. There has to be a marriage of both youth and experience, more like a 20/80 split in favor of experience. Even then there has to be a distinct level of class intrinsic in both the younger players and the more experienced players. That class is just is not prevalent in this current team, with a few exceptions.

We are relying on players that aren't of the standard needed to succeed at the highest level. It need not be more complex than that. At the most basic rudimentary level, we are not good enough.

I don't want jam tomorrow. I want it today. And given the club's stature, ticket prices, stadium, location and sheer class of our fans (for the most part) I do no think that is too much to ask.

Steve Knows Best

1.) Spot on mate, we need to be more ruthless. We don't have the players to win trophies. Not exactly rocket science.

Nick.

2.) Dortmund and Barcelona have proved project youth can Work.

The only difference being we have sold our talented youth - due to unknown reasons to me.

I think the main reason we have suffered is our defense. we have been unable to hold onto those 1-0 leads or 4-0 leads due to the defense.

you don't see Puyol and pique playing tiki taka with messi.

and neither have I seen Hummels and Subotic playing german taka with gotze and reus.

move over to arsenal and vermalen is practically trying to head anything he can find, koscielny is making forward runs, and then we blame mertesacker for staying behind being out paced by a winger.

I am under no delusion that bundesliga and la liga are not as competetive as EPL, however its the champions league which leave me pondering about the players we have.

I understand your statements and perhaps we all want jam today, considering we have been having jam before the 8 year no jam theme.

for now I would suggest we support the team and manager we have. think of the summer in the summer and try to pip those noisy spurs, and join me in driving bale to madrid so we can restore parity.

3.) Glad you've calmed down since your last post. No deaths in this one. Much more like it, but then again you don't care anyway. You have as much class as your mate Gervinio.

STEVE KNOWS A LOT LESS THEN HE MAKES OUT.

Trust Arsenal fans.

So we should extend Gervinho's contract now. he scored and played decent against Reading.

This guy is rubbish.

He is quick, does what he does on the fly, never knowing what he's going to do, it just happens. A defender will struggle.

Pay attention to every time he goes down the line. when 'attempting' to put a cross in the ball travels 15mph along the floor EVERY time. Either cut out by a defender or trickling hopelessly into open space.

When he's shooting. I imagine he's wearing flip flops, like he tries to hit it such a way he doesn't hurt his foot, which result in a scuff shot, that trickles wide. He'll score the odd tap in, like yesterday, but as we all saw against Bradford and Blackburn he's more than capable of missing when it's easier to score.

Yesterday is the best I've seen him play. which if I'm being honest, is truly hilarious.

Galatasary offering 12m? I'd take 5m and Muslera.

Part of the reason we are so up and down, our standards have dropped so far. Fans are willing to accept he, and others are good enough for one of the world's elite clubs. End rant.

Steve Knows Best

1.) Steve knows best, could not agree with you more he ain't good enough for our club I'd call him a headless chicken with the ball but that would be an insult to a poor chicken who already lost his head. He has had two seasons now and he has proved he ain't good enough

2.) People getting really carried away with that win over reading. Bayern munich, fine. Swansea away, fine. (spurs beat them aswell. they are on a terrible run of form) but going on about how good someone is because he played well against reading. well, it looks silly.

When arsenal play everton, or man utd. let's ascertain how much we need some of these players, and if they perform when they really need to perform.

Ramsey against carrick in midfield? only one winner for me. Gervinho against valencia? again. Giroud vs vidic? not only does giroud jump a second too early for every long ball. he has no pace to speak of. I think he has an excellent touch for a big man, and he is smart with the ball sometimes. a bit like peter crouch.

3.) Geronimo is a scandalous waste of money. Lille FC must have thought that Christmas had arrived early!
Why is our Club suckered into so many sub - standard players.
Geronimo
Chamakh
Bendtner
Diaby (injury-prone and over hyped)
Denilson
Almunia
Arshavin (Promising start then?)
Park (Who?)
Squillaci (Dear oh dear)
This is just a recent-ish list. Let's not forget Stepanovs, Wreh, Cygan.
I can't go on it's depressing me. We must employ the Ex-Lax system.
and have a massive clear-out at the end of this season. It was essential to get the points on saturday and it was an easy win. Let's see if we can up the effort against Everton and the Mancs. Beat these two and we will get 3rd place!

4.) Gotta love it, Spurs lose 3 games and are on a "terrible run". Oh how the times have changed : )

RE:- Ed002

The abuse is WRONG. No question of that!

Some prepubescent clowns abuse him/her and they take their ball and go home, spoiling the fun for everyone else. How puerile!

There are plenty of people that praise Ed002 and appreciate their knowledge on The Arsenal.

Concentrate on those people and ignore those invalids shouting abuse, they'll quieten down soon enough.

All I'm saying is. Grow up we're not on the playground anymore! Even though it does seem like some literally still are. Laughable really.

These mental decisions of Wenger are merely preservative.

Hence Wilshere and Podolski are mysteriously injured and Szczesny is dropped. Rumours Cazorla and Walcott might not start either.

My theory is:

He doesn't think we can win the UCL. He doesn't want to play our best team just in case we do overturn this defeat adding to our fixture list a minimum of 2 more games. The likelihood we'd just go out anyway. This would hinder us in our run in for the all important 4th place trophy.

Top top manager! (for those too stupid, I'm being sarcastic)

Steve Knows Best

1.) Name me the managers who've won 3 prems and 4 fa cups

2.) Name any of the top clubs who have had the same manager after winning nothing for 7 seasons

3.) Everton maybe?

My expectation for the summer, as it stands to be, without a takeover:

Wenger will stay. He'll appoint a new assistant manager, someone at the club already. Boro Primorac in my opinion. Bould will leave.

In addition I think Wenger will beg for Dein to return. Doubt he will.

Coaching staff to be overhauled. Personally believe Henry, Bergkamp, Pires and maybe Adams/Keown will be brought in.

Over the year Wenger will assess Henry, Bergkamp and Pires as to who his successor should be. He'll make his recommendation and then be off on his merry way, 7.5m in the bank. Likely ending up at PSG as a director or some sort of liaison type role.

As for transfers:

Incoming -

I see another 'attempt' at Gtze, which if we miss fourth or don't get Dein back, will certainly fail. A CB, RB and CDM. That's the very most IMO.

Outgoing -

I see Vermaelen/Koscielny and Sagna being the big departures. Along with expiring contracts etc.

That's what I'm half expecting if there is no takeover.

It's impossible to guess what will happen if there is a takeover, which I doubt anyway. think it's an elaborate spin designed to boost Season Ticket sales.

Personally think we're stuck with Wenger for another season at least and the biggest 'on the pitch' changes will come in the summer of 2014.

Steve Knows Best

1.) Am I strange for thinking Man U will go for Goetze? I see Giggs on the way out and it makes me wonder.

2.) I think Man United are more interested in james rodriguez,
i was told they bought kagawa instead of gotze for the same position, and gotze not being available.

3.) Primorac has been with Wenger wherever he has managed and never been his official 'assistant manager' - altough he has always been that in a de facto sense; just prefers to stay in the backgorund. This won't change if Bouldy goes.

I'd rather keep Wenger.

I swear most people are sheep. You lot listen to the plums like Shearer and Lineker say he's a good manager on MOTD and just believe it.

He's bloody dreadful. What has he done?

Kept an utterly b******* team in the EPL a few times, by the skin of their teeth. Hasn't bought a good player. We need to aim WAY higher than that.

I'm telling ya. if we get him to replace Wenger we are destined for the doldrums BIG TIME.

The thought of us signing players like Di Santo. : (

We are The Arsenal!

Register if you feel that strongly!

I mean, what gives you the divine right to claim the pseudonym Flybo? Nothing, so register, if you don't. that's your problem.

Fernando is a dirty **** but I love it. I'd take him. Damiao I haven't seen enough so can't. Prolific in Brazil, but that doesn't really mean much. Fernando is a good shout.

Like I said.

He's never scored more than 15 in a season. Offers no more than Giroud, despite his age.

Not what we need right now.

We lack a prolific goalscorer, it is that simple. Jovetic is not prolific. He is a NAME player being linked so everyone assumes he is the best thing since sliced bread. It's hilarious.

Jovetic would be good in a 4-4-2 with the likes of Suarez but we don't play that way.

I think Giroud and Podolski are both better strikers.

1) I am chilled out. Was I overly aggressive? You're the one with all the exclamation marks hanging out of your response.

2) Cazorla is a CAM. So. Yeah. LOL.

Never scored more than 15 in a season. Terrible for a striker!

I swear, a player's name gets mentioned then.

"I hope we sign Jovetic".

"Jovetic is class!"

You people are a laugh. Dozens better than him. You can talk all day about how he is 23. Not good enough. We need the finished article now.
