Arsenal to sign Julio Cesar for an undisclosed fee.

Higuain deal a non starter. Man City see him as back up should Alvaro Negredo bid fail.

No word on Fellaini, unlikely to be any deal in place.

Unlikely any signings will be made/announced until after Asia Tour.

Wouldn't worry to much, Manchester United have yet to dip into the market. City and Chelsea have the greater pressure to buy big and buy fast. -

justagooner

1.) I would absolutely worry! man united have actually bought a right back already and they are not under the same pressure to spend as we are. they won the league and have the best striker in the league - kindly donated by us.
moyes will buy again. city have already bought navas and fernandinho and chelsea will get whoever the hell they want

2.) From the list you've provided, we finished below all of them.

The pressure for us to strengthen is MUCH higher

Paul

3.) Why is Higuain a non starter?

Because he is a back-up option in case city don't get negredo?

So Higuain/RM is going to hang around in case the negredo deal falls through? Well that's very nice of them (I am being just a tad sarcastic).

arsenal make it a starter by getting the deal done asap.

4.) The difference being is that finishing 4th in the top four is acceptable to the board. Not winning ANYTHING for 8+ years is acceptable. Sorry but to me, that indicates less pressure. If Man City or Chelsea don't perform well, their managers WILL get the sack before the seasons' out. It's different with Man U, Fergie hand picked Moyes and he will be given time. It's not like Man U have had 100 managers in the past 20 odd years.

Anyway, Higuain is a non starter (as in it won't happen) because. if we were signing him we would have had it wrapped up straight away. Think back to our deals last summer. All done early. In all likelihood, Arsenal will not bring in any big names and then panic buy at ten to midnight (Mert, Santos)

All this talk is just fantasy, don't get me wrong I'd love it to be true. The only thing that can be said for certain is that either A) Arsenal's negotations team are just amatuer or B) Arsenal's negotations team are not in negotiations with anyone right now.

5.) This is a good posting - I was wondering why we didn't sign anyone on July 1st but, what's the hurry? The pre season tour is not the Champions League, it's a trip to wave the flag and play opposition that we are expected to beat.
If it gets to August 16th we've signed no-one of note then I'll worry.
I've got £15 at 11/1 for AFC as PL champions - rock on.

Not so much a rumour, Higuain has signed!

.

. for Napoli.

Quite sad really, but I have come to expect nothing less from Arsenal transfer dealings. What a joke!

justagooner

1.) He hasnt, he's yet to complete his medical, not a done deal.

could snatch him last second. there's still hope that the extra 10m we'd save buying hig instead of suarez could go on some real team building!

Oh it gets better. According to the Italian press (pinch of salt may be required), Chelsea have made an enquiry about Higuain.

. fml! {Ed027's Note - Higuain was offered to Chelsea, Chelsea refused

justagooner

1.) Think about it. Why would he go to a club where the manager was at his former club and never rated him.

Arsenal now linked with Tim Krul!

Cesar apparently on his way to Napoli on a season long loan.

justagooner

1.) Haven't Napoli signed a goalkeeper called Rafael from Santos? {Ed029's Note - Yes but they are after a second keeper mate. Cesar or Reina.}

2.) I want Cesar at Arsenal.

NO excuses!

Correction: No MORE excuses!

3.) Block 5; I share yo grief bruv, "no, no, moreeeeee.

This is what will happen.

At the next Arsenal press conference, Wenger will be asked about transfers. He'll play coy, say something like

Wenger: ". We are looking yes for top top quality, and only for the right player to improve our squad"

Journalist: "What about reports of a deal for Higuain?"

Wenger: "He is a player I like"

Then he'll be pushed on it, something like

Journalist: ". are you in talks with Real, is he on his way to Arsenal?"

Wenger: "We have already Giourd, and Poldolski in that position, Theo too. Also we have Sanogo to provide us wid a lidil bit of options"

Journalist: Does that mean you are not interested in Higuain?

Wenger: ". he is a player I like. Like I said, we have top top quality in our squad"

Journalist: What about other reports linking you with Fellaini and Barry?

Wenger: "I don't know about dat"

Transfer Window Closes - The End.

1.) This is spot-on. The nightmare scenario that I've had disturbing my sleep! I've just listened to talkcrap and somehow you have to agree that with a purported war chest of 70-100 mill. we should have secured at least one marquee signing. Talkcrap have an obsession with our club, and I usually lol at the tish that is emitted. However they have a point. Yes, there is enough time, but who is our top target (s)? Other top English and Euro clubs are buying now. I'm reaching for the Valium.

2.) Haha so true.

I was imagining the press conference as I was reading it.

Brilliant.

Nick.

3.) I believe in this in this team individually collectively blah blah blah

4.) Bang on

5.) Great post.

I doubt it. This Benzema story that has gone on and on for almost a month is so tiresome. In or out, at this point I don't care, we have a great squad and a game to look forward to at the weekend.

I don't think Arsenal are looking at him, I think the press think Arsenal are looking at him.

The elephant in the room is; where would he play? It doesn't make that much sense.

Who told you, Stan Kroenke? That guy never shuts up!

I doubt it. Arsene has said in his post match press conference and I quote:

". We work hard but we are not close to signing anybody. the competition in Europe is very hard at the moment. There's a lot of money and not many players.

We strive to get our business done early. last year we looked at what was done two seasons ago, which is certainly not something we would ever choose to go through again"

This is from the mouth of Arsene Wenger himself, sounds to me like what we hear almost every summer. This totally undermines all the stories about Higuain, Cesc and so on. The truth is that I doubt we'll sign anyone worth mentioning, and certainly not a big name star. It's so disappointing that it looks like we'll miss the bus on our best chance in years at challenging for the title. Still, none of this will stop me supporting my team regardless of how much money we spend.

No they didn't. Yes they made an offer but no players were involved.

Chelsea just released an offical club statement confirming the above.

Ibrahimovic's attitude and demeanor would be terrible for the dressing room. I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. But then, I'm not a football manager.

Arsenal have recruited the German national team's head fitness coach Shad Forsythe. I think he is already in post as of Monday gone.

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. Manchester United are a big global brand; it’s going to happen. The thing that makes me smile is how much of this money is going to be creamed off by the Glazers?
