The funniest thing would be if Tottenham beat City in a few weeks meaning the title would be ours if we beat Everton at home.

It would be interesting if spuds went into that game on level points with Villa.

2.) 27 Apr 2024 02:06:47
I have a nasty suspicion that, even if spurs were winning, they'd give the three points to city to spoil our party.
All we can do is beat them ourselves and hope.

Well done Everton, let's hope Brighton cab snatch something tonight .

{Ed025's Note - your welcome mate.. :)

Liverpool need City to drop 5 points from their last 6 games to stand any chance at all, not imossible but extremely unlikely. We need City to simply fail to win just one of their last 6 games which is certainly not unthinkable by a very long way.

Win our last 4 (not easy but very doable) and there is absolutely every chance we will be very worthy champions of England, we have both scored the most and conceded the least goals in the league ????

Up The Arsenal ?.

Excellent win last night, play in that manner and we win the remaining 4 matches.

Havertz has certainly answered a few critics.

Think Jesus is now on borrowed time IMO.

That’s incredible to think we’ve only spent that much to offload that horrible squad load of players we had to now having a squad in which every player is a genuinely saleable asset.

I think in Saliba, Saka, Odegaard, Gabriel, White and Rice we’d recoup more than that figure alone.

It’s been forever since we could say that.

Great post for picking that out mate, even though I know you actually simply meant to say, ARTETA OUT! ?.

2.) 19 Apr 2024 12:25:14
Hey stoner me old mucker.

3.) 19 Apr 2024 14:48:12
In which case everyone has fecked up and the answer is to sack MA and get Man City manager - he must be good! Thank goodness they haven’t got 115 charges over them . Not sure if we have any! Each to their own I guess let’s try and win without the charges I rather like that idea - call me old fashioned COYG. MA in ( am I in a twilight world)

{Ed014's Note - they couldn’t cope with 5 penalties the other night mate, god knows how they’ll cope with 115! ?

4.) 19 Apr 2024 17:29:42
Can we look at net spend from 2008 not what suits the bias. Up until 2019 ( from 2008 ) believe C£ty net spent £1.2 billion on players! Us well £297 million thick end of a £1 BILLION Bit of perspective please Banbury! These figures may or may not be true but no animals were hurt in looking for them COYG.

5.) 19 Apr 2024 18:59:21
Just goes to show its not all about money, look at Chelsea and United. Money helps but you still need to spend it well and have a manager who can get motivate and get the best out of the players you buy. Pep and Mikel have been the top 2 managers over the last 2 seasons.

6.) 19 Apr 2024 19:45:37
Right Sussex, the city figure is quite skewed they've got a very good net spend the last 5 years, but they've sold high value players they had brought for high values previous to those 5 years, they got about £500 mil income from the likes of Mahrez, Laporte, Sane, Zinchenko, Otamendi, Danilo, Jesus, Sterling

Their net spend for the 5 years before is £-640 mil.

7.) 19 Apr 2024 20:06:20
Which club's have risen or fallen furthest during this spending period, obviously the biggest climbers are Newcastle and Arsenal from near bottom and 8th place and the biggest fallers are Chelsea from top to nowhere noticeable.

8.) 19 Apr 2024 20:21:59
Maybe Eden but are we just ignoring the £1 BILLION NET they spent more than us! We could have bought 15 Pepe’s for that! They may well have sold well they are good players! I hope you’re not on the premier league FFP charging panel which charges runs from 2009-2018 ( the billion pound era ) I agree it is a bit skewed! But good luck to them if that’s their bag Money talks and they’ll get a slap on the wrist no doubt about it COYG.

9.) 20 Apr 2024 01:01:39
I can see that "Right Sussex. " may have come across as opposing and confrontational! ? When what I meant to put was "you're right Sussex" I was agreeing with you, if it was done over the last 10 years their net spend would be much higher, because they spent the money in the 5 years previously.

10.) 20 Apr 2024 13:48:59
??? and not for the first time I misunderstood your post Eden! Still reeling from one of your posts I and only I couldn’t see the irony in it and so jumped in with both feet. It’s so rare I hear you’re right Sussex it throws me! Anyone who thinks Chelsea and City have not bought trophies is barking - as I said each to their own and good luck to them but be honest for feck sake COYG.

Disappointed to lose last night but it was close over the 2 legs

We have a hugely talented squad one of the best for many many years IMO.

BUT, has Arteta taken the side as far as he can?

Spending of nearly 600 million, I should imagine the owners will want to start to see something in return PDQ.

Thoughts?

Since the start of the year until now we actually lost 1 league game. Conceded only 6 while we scores shyt loads. Yes we are out of the champions league but in all honesty did any of us really believed we could win it. We reached the quarter final and we lost on a very small margin although we are disappointed we lost it shows how far we've come.
As for the league position, we still in it.

2.) 18 Apr 2024 15:11:59
My question Banbury is are we improving! In my opinion absolutely! You do realise C£ty did the treble last year and not only spent more than us but Timber has been out all year! Their signings have played! Do we realistically automatically assume we spent the money so should win the league even though C£ty spent more. Chelsea spent a gazillion and but for Palmer would be god knows where. He like Saka will get marked next season! Just look at the squad when MA took over - we have overhauled and with some fantastic players and still in the title race with six games to go! Spurs Chelsea and United were out of it in August! I don’t see the players downing tools but playing for the manager! Rare for us particularly in latter Wenger and Emery years. When it’s mathematically impossible to win the league then we can dissect! But a c£ty draw and we win puts us above them! Me Uncle John used to say defeat is what you stand on but feck me some on here are horizontal! I wouldn’t go into battle with them! Can’t believe I’m saying it but MA in and we are still in it - a lot is down to MA in my opinion COYG win lose or draw Gunners Forever ( but if we don’t win the league because we are improving I’m not throwing anyone under a bus!

3.) 18 Apr 2024 15:43:08
Great shout Sussex, a lot of people seem to forget that we had a serious amount of deadwood, sucking the soul out of great club, when Mikel turned up. he said it’s all about the process and it will take some time to sort through it. and to trust him. he has bought the connection back between fans and the club. we are seeing the fruits of his labour. the experience of Arteta and the squad of the last two seasons will serve them all well. onwards and upwards. COYG/ VTH. ?⚪️❤️.

4.) 18 Apr 2024 17:13:54
Absolutely Sussex mate
Auba, Lacca, Mustafi, Kolinseac, Leno, Pepe to name but a few
Lot of overpaid underperforming players.

5.) 18 Apr 2024 17:38:29
The disappointment for me was the manner we went out it was so flat at least go out all guns blazing not with a whimper.

{Ed025's Note - still need a slotter for me Oleary, should have been addressed in the last window for me mate..

6.) 18 Apr 2024 18:05:09
Not sure how any fan thinks Arteta has took the club as far as he can when he took over he was not meant to get us this far this quick he is actually ahead of schedule in The project I think we have real jem of a manager and need to trust him and the board they seem to know what they are doing also the team is still you g and will learn from every experience good or bad as will Arteta and the will be stronger for it changing thing now would be complete madness IMO.

{Ed014's Note - it’s just the beginning for Arteta for me, he’s been backed to get rid of the toxic money grabbers.

He’s now assembling a great squad which we all know needs to be stronger but we have a fantastic base that he’s built us and it’s only up from here for me.

7.) 19 Apr 2024 07:57:44
I'd take Watkins, good work rate and good attitude and a good finisher :)

8.) 19 Apr 2024 12:14:17
Great post Sussex mate. And as RG the rich man is saying it's only the beginning.

It will take something special to take points off City BUT I have a sneaky feeling that Spuds ( much to their annoyance ) will snatch at least a point off of them.

Raya's blunder could have been costly but we move on, got result in the end.

I can't see Arteta going to City, he knows what fans would think of him. I think his next step would be abroad.

I agree, he looked frustrated last night. As you say he doesn't fit the style of the team now, we have developed well.

I'm the same ED, I was all for an out and out striker, not sure now.

Banburyshire Gooner

{Ed014's Note - it’s mad mate, we were all worried about it and once again we’re still banging them in.

I have a feeling we’ll still get one as an upgrade on Jesus will still be a big need.

I’ve always liked him but he seems to hold us back now as we’ve developed as a team.

I’m wondering if he’s trying to hard too, he looks a frustrated figure on the pitch.

Totally agree Mal.

Banburyshire Gooner

{Ed014's Note - I think we finally saw Arteta’s preferred starting 11 with maybe just the exception of Timber.

With Partey in midfield it allows Rice that freedom where he can get everywhere and Havertz up top makes us so much better.

As I said in chat for the Wolves game, Jesus needs to stay on the bench.

That was probably what cost us the Villa game, playing him up top.
