It seems that we reached a agreement to sign Arthur Melo on a loan basis
If the Eds have dealt with this I apologize. Barcelona and Juve both have sold him on. I read on his Wiki page he was criticized at Barcelona by Suarez and Valverde for his positionial play and his reluctance to play the ball forward. I don't know if Juve are selling him to raise funds or he just not fit into Allegris future plans.
Is he a good fit for Arsenal.
Views of the Eds and posters welcome.

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

1.) 24 Jan 2022 13:38:41
Ed002's Note - Arthur Melo (CM/ DM) Available - has not worked out in Europe. Barcelona skinned Juventus of Pjanic and cash and it has largely been a disaster in Turin. Juventus want to revamp the midfield with Arthur, McKennie, Ramsey and Rabiot all seen as surplus to requirements. All are for sale and all can be used in exchanges. The problem remains finding takers for the likes of these players who pull a total of €600k in weekly wages will be difficult - but there are mugs out there. Arsenal have asked after taking Arthur on loan - and that might be attractive if a buyer can't be found and Arsenal were to pay his wages. I am sure there is knocking on the door of St James Park. }.

2.) 24 Jan 2022 22:11:55
BBC are confirming a loan till the end of the season.

3.) 24 Jan 2022 22:48:05
Sorry, to be more accurate Arsenal have agreed terms on a loan deal until the end of the season.

31 Aug 2021 11:18:27
Gone on the internet and done a bit of research on the Japanese rb. He seems to highly rated hard tackler, good in the air and can play the ball out of defence. I don't know if any the Ed's can give us anymore info on him.
Apologies if the subject has already been dealt with.

{Ed002's Note - Do you mean Takehiro Tomiyasu (CB)? Spurs nearly agreed a transfer and Arsenal have expressed an interest whilst Atalanta were looking for discussions. Much will depend on Bologna replacing him - and they have made a proposal to Chelsea to take Malang Sarr on loan.}

1.) 31 Aug 2021 11:48:07
Thanks for the info Ed
Much appreciated.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 11:55:16
Ed002, Is he primarily a CB or RB and more importantly is he coming in to play as a full back or a CB? The confusion keeps piling up.

{Ed002's Note - He is a CB. Arsenal no longer need a Bellerin replacement.}

3.) 31 Aug 2021 11:58:58
Why do they no longer need a Bellerin replacement, Ed? Looks like he's off to Betis on loan.

{Ed002's Note - Ainsley Maitland-Niles will provide cover.}

4.) 31 Aug 2021 12:28:09
That's worries me there Ed. I mean who does he provide cover to. Cedric, Chambers? Not even sure who our first choice right back is.

{Ed002's Note - There are plenty of choices as you note. The new CB could also perhaps play there as well.}

5.) 31 Aug 2021 12:49:40
Thanks for the reply Ed002, Great insight. Do you think Arsenal are working on getting in another player after Tomiyasu with 12 hours remaining for the deadline?

{Ed002's Note - If the can.}

6.) 31 Aug 2021 13:49:22
Another well known QUALITY signing…
Where do we keep finding these top players from.

7.) 31 Aug 2021 13:55:25
Planning for life in the Championship.

8.) 31 Aug 2021 13:38:09
Feel better after the update and clarification Ed - thank you.,

Who is our first choice right back though?

{Ed002's Note - No idea I am afraid.}

9.) 31 Aug 2021 14:21:28
Thank you - hopefully Mikel knows but I’m not sure he does either 😂 😂.

10.) 31 Aug 2021 14:54:46
I fully expect this guy to be utilised as a RB. White and Gabriel will be a 1st choice pairing with Holding and Mari as backup. Bellerin out and Chambers/ Cedric are not a confident 1st choice for MA.
When fully fit, I am expecting we'll see Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, KT as our back 4.

{Ed077's Note - or White could be utilized as an RB?

11.) 31 Aug 2021 17:26:21
Possibly Ed yeah and switch up the CBs. We'll soon see!

{Ed077's Note - whatever way the CBs get deployed, it's still lots of money spent on a position that wasn't in urgent need of revamp. Well at least the next manager will have a few decent players to work with😉

12.) 31 Aug 2021 17:47:15
White could play DM as well.

11 Aug 2021 16:18:04
According to reports we are in advanced talks with Sheff Utd over Ramsdale. The fee is apparently 24mill so I am of the opinion
he is coming as first choice keeper . With no Europe so need to rotate the squad as much, would it be safe to assume that Leno is on his way out baring in mind we have another 2 highly rated young keepers in Okontwo (not sure if that's the right spelling and Karl Hein.

1.) 11 Aug 2021 18:46:23
I hope Leno is on the way out. Ramsdale though? I would've felt better with Onana in goal. I won't dismiss Ramsdale though as he has been in two crap teams that got relegated. Can't all be blamed on him. Interesting window though none the less. Still got a feeling Arsenal also bring in Maddison.

2.) 11 Aug 2021 18:58:46
He also got voted player of the season for both teams the last two seasons.

3.) 11 Aug 2021 19:16:27
Didnt know that J Gunner👍👍👍👍.

4.) 11 Aug 2021 19:24:42
I'd rather Dean Henderson if De Gea is Utd's no1 Henderson will want out.

5.) 11 Aug 2021 21:24:01
Ramsdale is a bit young for me. Goalkeepers mature later and so you can afford to pick up someone older than you would for another position. However, he appears to be a good keeper, and if it works he could be our keeper for the next decade or more, so you can see the attraction. Would definitely prefer him than this drug ban fellow, too much baggage we could do without.

6.) 12 Aug 2021 16:56:19
Ramsdale is Pony. I watched his best saves on YouTube to try alter my mindset and yeah he can stop a shot but a lot of the time, he cushions the save into a danger zone for a rebound. Catches nothing. He doesn’t bring confidence in his teams, hence 2 relegations last 2 seasons.

Forgive me for my pessimistic outlook. How next game is Wolves away if we cannot score at home to Burnley cannot see us winning away at Wolves.

1.) 23 Jan 2022 17:55:14
Hi Bill mate, you feel how you feel mate, is not right or wrong it's just your personal feelings

For me it's let's wait and see, I never thought for a minute we'd be pipping Chelsea for 3rd place because they had a few bad results and neither I did I think Thursdays defeat by Liverpool meant we were suddenly awful again and I don't think today's failure to beat Burnley confirms will we finish 8th.

For me if Arteta finished 4th he's definitely earned the right to carry on while 5th of 6th I'd consider progress and it might be harsh to sack him but 7th or a 3rd 8th place finish after 38 games should mean definitely mean Hasta la vista Mike, you've earned the sack baby.

2.) 23 Jan 2022 17:59:09
Hello 62 summed it up nicely.

3.) 23 Jan 2022 18:28:58
Hi Bill mate, it's easy for us all to get carried away by both good results and bad ones.

I've never been convinced Arteta is the man but over the past couple of months I've been a little bit more hopeful at times, but ultimately if we finish outside he top 6 it will equal 3 out 3 worst Arsenal finishes for more than 40 years and that surely has to be time to say enough is enough.

23 Jan 2022 16:05:12
What's gone wrong
Are we still sulking over the City game.
All that possession
12 corners
20 attempts on goal
And we cannot win at home against the bottom team.
150 million we spent in the summer for project Arteta and our season is over in January.

{Ed014's Note - maybe we need a genuine striker instead of the 3 we have who can’t hit a barn door!

Don’t dislike Lacazette and makes a good captain but geez he must struggle to finish his dinner.

1.) 23 Jan 2022 16:13:57
What's that, 4 games without a goal since 2005? #ARTETAIN! No cup competitions, 'trusting the process', making big leaps forward = still not in the top 4 ? ? ? ? ? ? ?.

{Ed014's Note - if there’s a poster who knows how to embarrass himself after his team wins a game, step forward Scholesy! ?‍♂️???

Another rise from the ashes is it mate, another false dawn or is this the real thing.

Is Elanga the latest new Ronaldo, please keep us updated mate as it’s a beautiful thing to watch! ???

2.) 23 Jan 2022 16:18:25
We have seen to have thrown our eggs all in the one basket Vlahovic.
If that doesn't materialize which I don't think it will, what we going to do play the strikers we are trying to sell.

{Ed014's Note - who knows Bill, pretty sure the club don’t! ?‍♂️?

3.) 23 Jan 2022 16:21:22
Your right there Ed mate.

{Ed014's Note - sadly I probably am Bill

4.) 23 Jan 2022 16:21:57
He won’t be coming to us mate.

{Ed014's Note - you’re right mate, Woods has already signed for Newcastle ?

5.) 23 Jan 2022 16:23:25
I am the second coming of Arsene Wenger ED014, not Arteta, no more false dawns. On a serious note, we have been sh1t this season yet we're still ahead of you, how bad are you?

{Ed014's Note - that would be remotely true if you hadn’t spent a billion bucks to be shit and remember we still have a game in hand.

I know you are always a little premature ?? but prob better to keep your powder dry until you actually achieve something.

I always wonder why fans of such an allegedly huge club are not on the Liverpool, City or Chelsea pages giving it large, oh wait, I know why! ???

6.) 23 Jan 2022 17:29:06
Not a chance you'll finish ahead of us ED.

Well the City page is about as full as their stadium so no point giving them a visit. and the other two teams rarely lose so no point giving them the finger. Arsenal fans on the other hand, love giving it the big one, but reality is, you're rubbish and its very satisfying fishing for some comments on here truth be told ?????.

You mention the £, how much have Arsenal spent under Arteta? Yet, you're just as bad as when he first took over???.

{Ed014's Note - you wish mate, your side is just a mishmash of prima donnas and over rated shite as usual.

One minute they’re awesome the next their woeful.

You haven’t been any better since Fergie left you dreamer! ????

As for your fishing, 3/10 please try much harder! ?‍♂️?

7.) 23 Jan 2022 18:07:40
Anyone remember when Arsenal only had 40 million to spend 3 summers back, Arsenal never stated this but the media said this was the cae all that summer, we spent 77m on Pepe plus signed others too.

Have Arsenal said we want Vlahovic or that it's him or nothing, or is it just more media silliness?

Why not wait until the window closes before kicking your dog, grounding the kids for a month and beating your car up with a crowbar, you never know the media might be fibbing.

{Ed014's Note - with us it’s a case of never say never or I told you so! ?

8.) 23 Jan 2022 19:20:13
100% Ed014 mate ????.

{Ed014's Note - that aside I’m sparing a thought for raver who is no doubt somewhere beating his car with a crowbar! ?

9.) 23 Jan 2022 21:11:39
Absolutely mate, his dogs booked itself into the local kennels and his misuss and kids moved out.

{Ed014's Note - ??

21 Jan 2022 04:26:30
I know we can have a clear run at 4th spot now and if we do get 4th please not let us embarrass ourselves by doing a lap of honour.
But the point for me is once again we have come up short in the big games like last season against Villarreal when one goal at home would have been enough to take us thru. Last night again seem to me reflect us a club at the moment and where we have been for the last two seasons, on the outside looking in. I will say again that it's there waiting to gel together but once again I say I am not sure if Arteta is the man for the job.
If we do sign Vlahovic and Melo and don't get Champions league then we surely must be looking at a change of manager.

1.) 21 Jan 2022 08:08:36
Personally I think we have to accept we are not who we were in the late 90s early 2000s we've fallen a long way since those giddy days.

4th place and champions league football would be a huge step forward compared to the 6th 5th 5th 8th 8th finishes of the last 5 seasons.

There is and never ever was a 4th place trophy it's the stuff of unicorns and Robin Hood, 4th place is 3rd runners up for Liverpool Chelsea and City and a huge disappointment but for everyone else it's the biggest prize available in English football and way better than an FA or league cup win.

We all want to see The Arsenal back in the elite challenging for PL and CL titles because in our hearts that's how we see The Arsenal but it's not and hasn't for a very long time been a reality.

Will we finish 4th? I've no idea in truth I think we could pull it off but equally i am very aware we might well have another 8th place finish in us yet, last night wasn't the end of the world or even the end of our season, if ever we are to get back among the elite it won't be through winning FA and League cups it will have to be done the hard way over a 38 game season.

20 Jan 2022 21:34:54
When are we going to step up to the mark in these big games.
Outclassed again.
Season over in January.

1.) 20 Jan 2022 21:55:10
The cracks are showing going further into the season. I don't know when White will really starts to look solid. Yes it's his first season but locks aggression and pushes up a lot and not having the speed to get back, keep on getting caught out.

He would probably be better in the middle instead of Lokonga, until he develops. We wouldn't need to spend any money if Saliba is good enough.

2.) 20 Jan 2022 21:56:33
Think about Bill what have we really lost tonight mate?
A chance to win a guaranteed place in next seasons Uafa's version of the Johnson paing trophy

4th place gets us CL and even 5th gets us EL which is still big step up from the rather embarrassing ELC.

3.) 20 Jan 2022 22:22:48
What a excuse gunner ??? you just lost to Liverpool B team after pulling out on the weekend too,

4.) 20 Jan 2022 22:22:59
Yardy mate I said from day 1 White is out of his depth, we paid well over the odds for him, mainly because he had just become an International .

We clearly lack a world class striker, but I do believe we have many many top top players, 2 or 3 clever signings and we won’t be far off being a genuine top 4 challenger.

5.) 20 Jan 2022 22:43:07
I'm with you on this Ox spotted it as well he needs someone to cover him and on a night when Tami was off it makes it worst.

We definitely need a world class striker, but I feel for Martinelli as he's not really a winger for me. He's good but don't put enough ball in the box. He needs to be running out the middle or countering. MA did say he and Tierney conflicts each other on the same side.

6.) 20 Jan 2022 22:48:30
Yeah but we beat West Broms Z team 6 0 ?

We all know most teams play weakened sides until suddenly it becomes there best or only option for success, the league cup has always been English footballs least valued trophy and the premier league football and titles and champions league football is what all teams value most of all, hence Liverpool B and West Brom Z.

7.) 20 Jan 2022 23:44:54
Yes gunner but surely you should have won this trophy then gone for a top 4 finish mate.

8.) 21 Jan 2022 04:27:36
Make you right raver.

9.) 21 Jan 2022 06:36:29
And you knowcALL about winning trophies eg Rav me old mate lol.

10.) 21 Jan 2022 08:25:30
We surely should have overcome Liverpool and Chelsea to win this trophy Raver?
Are you confusing us with our former self's, what Liverpool Chelsea and City are is what we and Manchester United dream of being again and all other clubs dream of experiencing.

Why are Wolves West ham and Leicester not expected to have won this trophy if that is the expectation of Arsenal mate?

11.) 21 Jan 2022 09:46:08
How come Spuds couldn’t beat a tired Chelsea side that need a rest lol

Funny that.

15 Jan 2022 16:28:29
Me personally I would have played it. Even with our youngsters I would fancy it.

1.) 15 Jan 2022 17:18:45
It was a win win situation for Arsenal Bill, if they lost tomorrow they had a excuse with players missing and if they won they could have really rubbed it in big time.

2.) 15 Jan 2022 17:39:13
I disagree Raver, if we played and lost we'd have cried foul play by the Premier league and now on Thursday if we put out a decent side the Spurs and everyone else will cry foul play by Arsenal.

This needs sorting out because Leeds who had to play the tea lady against us must be questioning the integrity of the league and those who run it.

3.) 15 Jan 2022 18:05:05
Agree 62 it’s farcical mate.

4.) 15 Jan 2022 18:17:32
Agree it's a mess but I love how everyone in media are now going crazy because we've done something plenty of other clubs have done over the last few weeks.

5.) 15 Jan 2022 18:25:07
I can see a relegated side taking the premier league to the courts over this come May as with Sheffield United with West Ham over the Tevas thing.

Just because this has worked in Arsenal's favour it doesn't make it right, it's not Arsenal's fault we and other clubs have simply taken advantage of the premier leagues incompetence and it was all so avoidable.

6.) 15 Jan 2022 19:54:50
I've just read there is another CV case in the squad and did we miss a trick with Coutinho!

{Ed014's Note - they are moaning on other club pages that we’ve got a postponement with only 1 case and not for me re Coutinho.

Little to old, no leader and somewhat injury prone.

7.) 15 Jan 2022 20:02:37
We could definitely of fielded a team. Spurs are missing their best players and are in poor form, so I have a feeling postponing it is going to work out in their favour more, we might have xhaka back! ?

The league statement didn't offer clarity it just opened it up to any team getting a postponement as long as C.V. is one of the reasons, stupid.

8.) 15 Jan 2022 20:16:09
Hi Sally someone had to be the first to do it :-) , it's obvious Coutinho will have good games as he's a good player but no matter how good or bad he was for us it would have come at a cost of ERS especially and possibly Ode as well, way to expensive.

On the postponement, we've cashed in on the PL inadequacy, the blame is 100% at their door not ours, if a bank starts handing out money without asking people to sign anything or any i'd who's not going to cash in while the goings good.

9.) 15 Jan 2022 20:16:09
Agree with you Eden
I would have taken a chance and played it.

10.) 15 Jan 2022 21:09:54
I would loved for the game to be played as well. However, we are sometimes accused of being naive on the pitch. So if we had played a very weakened team the critics would have say we should have requested to have it postponed.

The important thing now is to get couple signings in and press on to seal the 4th place. Man U keeping dropping points so any advantage over Spurs should be welcomed.

11.) 15 Jan 2022 21:23:40
Aren't spurs unbeaten in the league under Conte and a good position for 4th given their games in hand?

I can remember them being in much worse form than that ????.

12.) 16 Jan 2022 09:08:20
Spuds aren’t in a bad position just because Chelsea beat them twice, doesn’t mean they are rubbish, we will be in a better position for the rearranged fixture.

13.) 16 Jan 2022 17:14:23
Agree 100% Banbury and by then maybe Spurs may have lost a few before we play them.

I think we generally tried for Vlahovic but it was never going to happen. Issak doesn't float my boat nor does a loan move for Jovic.
Calvert Lewin would be a nice fit but than again if it happened could not see it till the summer.

Don't think we got time to look else where Sally.
Any chance we had of signing him that's if we had a chance in the first place probably went out of the window after that performance last night.
