{Ed002's Note - Bitello (AM) Joined Dynamo Moscow last summer to replace Arsen Zakharyan who Chelsea and Manchester City were blocked from signing. As he is not a Russian citizen he is free to move on but the issue is making a payment to the Russian side. Would likely need to be signed as an exception as he is not naturally able to obtain a Work Permit just yet. Arsenal were interested before he left Gremio.}

{Ed001's Note - yes, there are almost none that don't come from their academy that they can sign. So almost every transfer fee involving them is incoming and they invest heavily in their youth academy and current playing staff's welfare and happiness. Not just big salaries, but all the ephemera that makes them enjoy playing for the club. But obviously the big salaries is a problem for potential buyers as it is very rare they value a Bilbao player as highly as Bilbao do, unless Athletic have someone else in that position coming through.
If there isn't anyone coming through, they can't exactly go out and buy a replacement. They have been a bit more lenient on Basque-links in recent years, but only to a point. It means the pool of players they can sign is tiny.}

I do have a soft spot for Bilbao na duaed to follow them a few years ago They generally stick to their principles, which these days are rare.
{Ed001's Note - I like them too. Though I made the mistake of asking my parents to pick me up a shirt when they were in Bilbao. Only my parents could think I must have meant Sociedad because of the Toshack connection. I mean their shirt is blue and white ffs. No one wants a blue and white footie shirt do they? And Bilbao usually play good footie too, they have the best youth academy, probably in the world. There is a lot to like about them.}

For years they were my go to FIFA team on the PS aswell.
I had hoped that they would have qualified for the CL. but a 5th place finish was pretty good.
I was really happy when Utd signed Herrera and was gutted when they let him go for free, whilst priorising Muppets like PP and JL.

Hi Ed’s hope you all had a great weekend, ed002 I recently seen you said Toney was our number one target, I’ve just seen a rumour that arteta talked with Toney and arteta didn’t like his attitude, do you know if he is still number one on our list, thanks Ed.

Hi Ed025 I agree never been convinced - one season 22/ 23 everyone bangs on about with 20 goals but 6 pens included! Saka does that from the wing. Forget the pity penalty v Bournemouth Kai didn`t score in twelve games - then scored 12 goals in 25 games (think no pens) so on that form he gets 19 goals without pens - which is pretty good. He also assists. Haaland scored 27 goals but 7 were pens. Kai is nowhere the scorer Haaland is (Haaland played less games) but he is important to the way we play. Unless it`s top drawer and prem ready spend the money on the best midfielder possible to complement Rice and Ode. Isak is the only option for me or Alvarez but City won`t sell. Anyway what do I know but I know a man who does - come on MA get Isak COYG.
{Ed025's Note - i think Isak would be perfect SUSSEX, it looks very unlikely to happen though but you still need a top draw striker for me mate, Kai will do a job but if he gets injured you are up the creek without a paddle i feel..

I agree ed025, I don't believe we want his character in our squad. There aren't many top strikers around these days though, so while I agree of the necessity of one I have no real suggestions.
{Ed025's Note - its a tough one SW, Isak seems the perfect fit but i just cant see it im afraid, you may have to take a bit of a chance on somebody who is not quite the finished article but you do need a striker mate, i like the look of Vlahovic myself but getting him would be very difficult..

Hey Ed, what’s your thoughts on Bruno Guimarães? The links gone quiet of late but a player that gets stuck in whilst still being good on the ball could be what's needed in the middle. Would be an expensive buy. Havertz I imagine will be first choice no1 with a new 9 signing for healthy competition. Watkins perhaps? Could Arteta improve him and he’s a huge Arsenal fan who’s stated be a dream to sign for us.
{Ed025's Note - i do like Guimaraes coldice i must say, has that nasty streak which i like but i feel a striker should still be the priority mate, i like Watkins but feel he has reached his celing and Villa is his limit..

We need a CM for sure as Partey didn’t look the same player and we need competition in there. Kai can’t play there and Rice needs a good partner. Jorginho certainly can’t play there.
We are moving way to slow in the market place with the start of the season upon us. Ideally we would have signed him plus a striker and a winger in time for preseason games….

I have a bad feeling about this window I personally think the difference between second and the title is a goal scorer! Morning Dublin, your bang on my friend. you see all these other clubs doing their thing (regarding transfers) in advanced talks one day/ next day done deal. we seem to take forever to buy/ sell players. very frustrating. every man and his dog know we need a striker yet we seem to faff about time and time again. really pleased we got calafiori done. but I think all in all that one took a month to get done. this deal we are trying to get done for merino is taking forever. also regarding transfers I think we could do with someone who could play on either wing someone like sane from Bayern who would probably not cost shedloads but again it would probably be two months to get the deal done. Come on Arsenal get your act together raya, Calafiori, merino, striker would be brilliant an extra winger on top off that would be out of this world. seriously believe we are 2/ 3 players away from a squad that can really challenge for serious silverware.

I like our more measured approach, and our recent transfers have mostly worked out well so I don’t think we can question the club in that respect.
I still think we’ll bring in a CM, and if Nketiah goes a new CF will come in as well.

Hello all, Hope you guys are enjoying the build up to the season.
Dublin mate I get you and as a fan we are all a bag nerves probably we want a striker but there is no indication we are bringing one in.
We want to get things moving quickly but these things can take time as has been mentioned FFP is playing a big part too we need to balance the books. Can you imagine we go all out spend mad money and breach the FFP and get 8 or more points deducted.
One thing is for sure we are in safe hands and we need to trust Arteta, the team and Edu.
I am hoping we bring in a striker but I do believe we have enough fire power to share the load upfront even if we don't get one.

Can you show me where I said Chelsea are better than us in the transfer window glenn? I took an example and said look how quick Chelsea get it done, realistically I could have said any club really as we are probably the slowest, I don’t even think we are being cautious I think we haggle the price to much that’s how it takes so long, a forward should have been priority then a midfielder then defender, but that’s what I think yours could be different, like I said I think the difference between 2nd and title is a striker.

Disastrous transfer window if we don’t sign anyone else especially a forward player! I think we are ok in midfield to cover our new injured signing, hope it’s not a panic and buy a 29 year old Stirling, a striker or winger should have been prioritised, I’d saka gets injured that’s us knackered.
