Hi Eds, Eze has been linked with Man U and Spurs, surely if he is moving then we should be going in for him or is he not a target for us?
{Ed014's Note - Rodrygo is the only winger I’ve seen us linked with so wouldn’t know about Eze.
It would seem strange for him to take a step down and join the Spuds or that Manc 5h1te. ?♂️
1.) 16 Jun 2025 17:07:18
Thanks Ed, same thoughts regarding him taking a step down by going to either. It will be good for us to get one of Rodrygo, Eze or Gordon. Can take a punt on Grealish with loan.
{Ed014's Note - a case of wait and see HB.
2.) 17 Jun 2025 20:01:15
Flirt with the prettiest girl at the disco and leave empty handed or with a tramp. Great.
We need to be more strategic and deliver - who cares about the fish we wanted to catch. 3 years later and we are still chasing the dream.
If we win trophies - it would be easier.
03 Jun 2025 09:40:48
Hi Eds, do you know if we have had any serious discussions with our primary targets and their clubs? It is very early days and transfers are complicated process but I am fearing the usual hesitancy in our approach. It will be disheartening if good players are snapped up and we keep faffing around.
{Ed001's Note - yes, I believe you are trying to sort out at least a couple of signings in this initial window. It is a different year for PSR purposes than the second window, so getting them done now will get them off the books earlier in the future.}
1.) 03 Jun 2025 10:32:31
Thanks Ed.
{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}
26 May 2025 12:56:31
Hi Eds, do you have any latest on which wingers we are looking at if any? I would have liked Eze or Gordan, but with Palace in Europa and Newcastle in the CL, they look unlikely. We missed out on Marmoush and will have to compete with many clubs for Nico Williams. We need someone who can hit the ground running and preferably with premier league experience.
{Ed001's Note - Rafael Leao and Gittens seem to be the main two targets.}
1.) 26 May 2025 13:36:53
Thanks Ed, Leao is a good player but hasn’t lived up to the hype, Gittens also is one for the future but any additional depth to the squad will be welcome.
2.) 29 May 2025 02:26:39
I would be chuffed with Gittens, 20 y/ o with 8 goals and 3 assists for BvB? Sign me up. Williams would be the premium target but doubt we'd pay the asking price.

It is still a long way to go and all that…. but next season’s PL looks very tough. Man city has done some good business with Marmoush, Cherki and Reijnders and they will not have another off season like the last. Liverpool if they keep the tempo and add the players they are tracking will be difficult as well. Chelsea, New Castle and Aston Villa will also challenge. We never look like big club who could barge through and take matters in our own hands, always cautious and slow on and off the pitch.
1.) 11 Jun 2025 07:47:52
But other than everything looking great for everyone but us, everything is OK. Isn't it?
????????????????.
2.) 11 Jun 2025 09:55:36
G62, I admire your positivity and I am also positive and happish with where we are, my point was the feeling we get from how we operate in the transfers. We are a big club but we are not feared, imagine us and Real Madrid are linked to same player where RM have serious interest in the player as us, everybody knows what the outcome will be in this case. We had the one off triumph with Rice but when we have an absolute glaring need for a good striker for last two years, we are so hesitant.
3.) 11 Jun 2025 12:03:51
Zubimendi? COYG.
4.) 11 Jun 2025 12:47:58
Hang a min Highbury. weren't Real in contention to sign Zubimendi? Have we beaten them to his signature or?
I personally believe we can compete with the best/ attract the best, but I also think we dilly dally around the bush and try and buy a Rolls Royce for a pence!
{Ed001's Note - no, Madrid never wanted him. The hold up was that he wanted to play for Xabi Alonso and waited while his agent asked if they were interested in signing him, but Madrid decided not to make a move for him.}
5.) 11 Jun 2025 13:15:58
In which case like the man in the orthopaedic shoe I stand corrected Ed COYG.
6.) 11 Jun 2025 13:48:17
Thanks Ed, I appreciate your insight and clarity. :)
{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}
7.) 11 Jun 2025 14:57:42
Hi Highbury, I'm actually neither positive or negative about this window and what Arsenal will or won't do during it. I'm just very open to thinking it will all come out ok for us by the time the window closes whether I choose to worry about it or not, I don't see any value in telling my lots of negative stories about Arsenal and really positive stories about all our potential competitors because that would naturally make feel negative and down about all things Arsenal. So I prefer to wait and see what actually happens rather than concerned myself with positive or negative thoughts about any of it mate.
Up The Arsenal ? no matter what the future holds for us as a club.
8.) 12 Jun 2025 11:10:36
Ed001, you might as well just wind up the sites as apparently there's no need to discuss any of this. Just sit on your couch drinking camomile tea dressed in monk's robes.
{Ed001's Note - it is very strange that the one claiming to be least concerned is on every thread giving us his thoughts on everything. Anyone genuinely so unconcerned would not even be looking at the site.}
9.) 12 Jun 2025 13:21:16
Haha, I thought I was the only one that noticed.
Is Dubai still treating you well? I'm hearing from my sisters back home about the unbearable heat. I've gotten soft - wilting in 17 degrees Scottish summers.
{Ed001's Note - I don't notice the heat, but then I don't have AC running during the day, only to sleep, so it doesn't feel so bad when I go outside. I am down near the Sharjah border these days, I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I love this area. Right by Shabab Al Ahli's stadium, so I go along to watch them when they are at home, and it overlooks the training pitches for first team and academy. I get to spend the evenings sat on the balcony watching the training during the season.
Scottish summers reaching 17c? Wow, the earth really has heated up, that is about 7 or 8 degrees hotter than it was when I was a kid.}
10.) 12 Jun 2025 13:56:52
I can only wish for AC. I'm seriously wondering how I survived summers before I came here, but every place is airconditioned there.
I've only been to Sharjah once and that was about 2 and a half decades ago. It wasn't very developed back then but buying alcohol was much easier. Is it as busy as Dubai is these days?
{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I haven't been there for 20 years. Nowadays though, a lot of people commute from there to Dubai as it is cheaper, means it is terrible traffic to go there.
Are you ever returning to the Gulf, or is Scottyland home for good now?}
11.) 12 Jun 2025 15:21:37
Don't know if bonnie Scotland will be home forever, but a return to the gulf isn't in the cards. These days I don't mind it for a holiday, but I haven't been over for 6 years now.
Plus, I have a higher power that makes these decisions. She called Wife ?.
{Ed001's Note - ah yes, she who must be obeyed.}
12.) 12 Jun 2025 18:27:58
Might I suggest a dash of cayenne pepper and a sprinkle of dried mint with that camomile tea Mr Sharp, oh and if you don't have a monks outfit handy a double bedsheet will be more than sufficient.
13.) 12 Jun 2025 18:20:43
Hi Ed001 I'm interested in what's going on, optimistic and looking forward to the new season ahead. I just don't worry about or bother getting myself upset about things I have absolutely no control over whatsoever. Whatever does or doesn't happen this summer and next seaspn will take place with or without my consent to do, what where's the value in getting myself angry about things I cannot change even if I wanted to.
{Ed001's Note - not sure why you are talking about getting angry, no one else has mentioned that.}
14.) 12 Jun 2025 18:57:58
Hi Ed001 there have been people who are themselves clearly angry and upset about us coming 2nd again who have become angry with those people who refuse to share their opinions and anger. Which is why I mentioned the word angry.
{Ed001's Note - how can you tell that when none have ever said that? It is impossible to tell from text only what someone's state of mind is.}
15.) 12 Jun 2025 20:02:42
Your wee passive aggressive "Mr. Sharpe" is in contradiction to your zen lifestyle. Just saying.
16.) 12 Jun 2025 21:30:48
If I lived a Zen lifestyle you would possibly be totally correct Mr Sharp, but the camomile tea and monk robes were entirely of your creation, all I've done is play along with the image you have decided to project onto me, but in my own way.
I have long since stopped commenting on your posts and comments to others and choosen only to respond to any comments you post towards me or about me. I find life's easier if we accept there will always be people who for whatever reason we are never going see eye to eye with and to keep a respectful distance from those people who we simply don't gel with.
17.) 12 Jun 2025 19:45:41
Hi Ed001, someone who has recently decided to stop posting certainly sounded very angry with Arteta and those posters who refused to agree with his feelings about Arteta, he made absolutely no secret of how he felt about those posters who refused to agree with him. He definitely sounded like a very angry and upset person to me mate.
18.) 12 Jun 2025 22:16:43
If only anything you said was remotely true. From the numerous times you've accused people of being someone else, to the constant belittling of other people's concerns, opinions, or arguements about the team that don't align with the zen philosophy you're peddling. It's like you do it for a living. It's very weird.
19.) 12 Jun 2025 22:55:16
You don't sound like someone who is ready to keep a respectful distance Mr Sharp, neither do you sound like someone who is ready to accept the zen camomile tea and monk robes version of me is entirely of your creation.
I have absolutely no problem whatsoever of respectfully staying away from you, the question is can you it within yourself to simply ignore me and get on with enjoying the company of everyone else but me on the site?
20.) 14 Jun 2025 21:38:59
Hi 62, hope you are well. I presume you could be talking about me. I get we are different. I am not angry or have anger towards you. I get that football is for enjoyment and entertainment; I also see sport as 100% about competing to be the best or to be the best you possibly can. I’m 100% not behind participation and 100% against not celebrating winning.
I believe our style of play has been less than entertaining for large parts. We’ve lacked the squad / starting 11 to compete, tactics and mentality to win.
So, why wouldn’t I want change, have an opinion and demands on the club. Don’t you have opinions on how we should donate to charity, tax people, green investment, music, films etc. How much do you believe you control in the world - do you not have opinion on anything? It feels you want people like me to chill. I’m interested as to why you think our players out maximum effort in over the season when they’ve taken the easy sideway pass way more often than not and not busted a gut to get forward or insisted on others raising their games. The manager is the same - over play players and whine about injuries while not being prepared to manage tough players or make big in game decisions. He’s ruined Martinelli by ensuring he’s scared to give ball away and must always defend. You are on the rumours site and banter site but want me to be happy with 2nd, be chilled and grateful. I just want to understand and banter but you just talk in riddles….
I wish you well and want you to interact as you are an intelligent individual who surely has an opinion, desire, see weaknesses etc - it’s not a crime to express them or say Kai sucks. Doesn’t make you angry, sad, bad person or nor a fan. Just a human with an opinion and something to back it up whether we agree or not.
Hope you have a great weekend mate and I have no ill feeling or anger. Post facts and opposite opinion as it’s a banter site - it dies if you don’t express
Evening Ed ?.
31 May 2025 21:48:17
I hope Arteta is watching the CL final, what an absolute joy to watch this PSG team play! We were almost playing similar style 2 years ago, how did we change that this season, he needs to get us playing fast and furious again!
1.) 31 May 2025 22:49:17
Those kids were amazing Highbury.
2.) 31 May 2025 23:17:58
This season Highbury? Is it August already mate!
The past is history, done and dusted but the future is still to play for.
3.) 01 Jun 2025 00:09:08
Yes, come August we need to be playing on turbo charge.
4.) 01 Jun 2025 08:05:17
Fingers crossed ? Highbury mate.
The good news is that I am absolutely sure everyone at the club wants that too ?????
Up The Arsenal ?.
5.) 01 Jun 2025 09:11:31
Let’s hope so but it will take a lot more than want - that’s obsession, great tactics, great brave subs, team work, actually passing infront of team mates, first thought to go forward, desire, press…. We need to more than want it mate. That was an experience and we are miles off that. You can have hard working press in attack but with fast skilful goal scorers.
I know what you are saying and not trying to be a pain but how would Kai fit into that attack. Saka could or could be on bench. Kai and Jesus just aren’t it.
Were PSG brave in the Jan window?
The manager nailed that game with his tactics and subs…
Well done PSG - best team in tournament and great spectacle.
Great team for Arteta to study rather than saying we were better and still says it up to final.
31 May 2025 10:01:05
As we enter the 3 long months wait for the action again, hope that the team have a good break and rest up to fire on for the next season.
Next season, we should:
Sign:
Gyokeres/ Sesko
Williams/ Leao/ Ekitike
Zubimendi
Backup GK
Extend:
Partey
Promote:
A centre half from the academy
Max Dowman
More game time for Nwaneri
Sell:
Zinchenko
Lokonga
Viera
Tavares
Trossard/ Jesus
Nelson
Thoughts?
1.) 31 May 2025 11:37:19
I'm definitely up for more game time for Nwaneri Bill mate. It can't be a case of Nwaneri only when Saka is not available or he will definitely abd understandably leave the club.
I get he'd young but he's also extremely good needs to be given the opportunity at Premier league level to show how good he is.
2.) 31 May 2025 11:49:21
How about Eze for LW? Proven in the PL, and I think his game would step up an extra level in our side.
3.) 31 May 2025 11:58:32
Absolutely agree, he has shown whenever he is on the pitch that he more than capable of bringing something to the team.
4.) 31 May 2025 16:20:02
I still really like VICTOR OSIMHEN although AFCON next year at a crucial part of season would be an issue and any travel for international games I guess. Perhaps he may be difficult to manage for Arteta but looks like a winner and proper striker.
If we are to go up a level - we need a change in captain as Ode doesn’t dictate a game like a KDB or Henry and I’d like to see him dropped more for poor performances. Rice has to be captain. That’s a change in mentality day 1.
5.) 31 May 2025 17:03:40
Looks like a decent start to addressing the starting 11 which isn’t good enough and too slow in attack.
Eze, Victor, Zubi, GK, may be Cunha
Eze - could he put a bit of pressure on Ode?
I’d like two strikers if I’m honest - happy for Jesus and even Kai go to make way although happy if Kai stays but on bench. He can’t start.
Happy if Calafiori is sold for good money - too many similar players who play in many different positions to cover but not starting 11 quality in any…
Do we need another fullback with all those exits?
Partey would be an expensive back up but if Jorginho goes then perhaps keep for a year for experience and cover. He will miss key parts of season AFCON
ZIN and Jorginho need to go
Keep one of Trossard / Martinelli - neither should start
Will we be able to keep Kai, Merino and Partey happy when we add Zubimendi.
If we sign a few forwards then we need to clear out some forwards to balance books and squad happiness…
Interesting as we can’t rip the team apart, need to keep happiness in squad but need a more competitive mentality and quality of attack. Don’t envy Arteta as it will be tough.
29 May 2025 18:41:12
Hi Eds, do you have any information on what’s happening with Viera, I don’t see him coming back and getting a place in the squad especially when we are looking to add numbers in attack. Will he be moved on in this window?
29 May 2025 18:23:36
Completely unrelated to Arsenal, however, this is puzzling me for last few days: Does anybody know why Jobe Bellingham is trying to leave Sunderland when they have just won promotion to the best league in the world? Doesn’t he want to prove himself here or the Bellingham family thinks moving to Germany is a guaranteed ticket to Real.
P. S. I support Jude B when he plays for England but think he is very overrated and his move to RM has increased his arrogance, pushing and messing around with other players, throwing tantrums etc etc.
{Ed014's Note - Jude Bellingham has yet to play in the Premier League, so who knows how good or bad he really is.
As for Jobe, I guess it worked for one and maybe the Premier league is to daunting for him.
I agree with your PS.
1.) 29 May 2025 18:36:22
Cheers Ed, I have also always wondered how he would have fared here.
2.) 29 May 2025 23:30:46
Jude is a selfish, greedy primadonna with huge footballing talent. Shame he’s not more grounded or a team player. He’s super talented.
16 Jun 2025 17:07:18
Thanks Ed, same thoughts regarding him taking a step down by going to either. It will be good for us to get one of Rodrygo, Eze or Gordon. Can take a punt on Grealish with loan.
{Ed014's Note - a case of wait and see HB.
03 Jun 2025 10:32:31
Thanks Ed.
{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}
31 May 2025 18:33:42
There is a rumour around MLS being tracked by Real Madrid. Nwaneri will also be looking for assurances on more game time. However, we must extend their contracts and my be give them an option to review next year.
26 May 2025 13:36:53
Thanks Ed, Leao is a good player but hasn’t lived up to the hype, Gittens also is one for the future but any additional depth to the squad will be welcome.
24 May 2025 14:43:20
That will be a very bad situation, us mates were discussing if we get another winger and Martinelli and Trossard stay, then it will greatly limit Nwaneri’s game time so should he be sent on loan? He should be developed as Odegard’s successor and rotate with him if he doesn’t go on loan.
{Ed014's Note - Max Dowman is waiting in the wings.
11 Jun 2025 09:55:36
G62, I admire your positivity and I am also positive and happish with where we are, my point was the feeling we get from how we operate in the transfers. We are a big club but we are not feared, imagine us and Real Madrid are linked to same player where RM have serious interest in the player as us, everybody knows what the outcome will be in this case. We had the one off triumph with Rice but when we have an absolute glaring need for a good striker for last two years, we are so hesitant.
05 Jun 2025 16:44:30
I understand if we sign a player and it doesn’t work but the feeling is very different if we are linked to two and sign the wrong one (well it doesn’t work out but the other works out for the rival) :)
We could use Mbuemo centrally as a target man to bully defenders and make space for others in the opposition box.
05 Jun 2025 16:30:32
Yes for sure, I said earlier we can’t have them all but not sure what the club is planning. Now, Gyokeres is linked with United, Ekitike with Chelsea and Liverpool with Sesko.
04 Jun 2025 22:38:47
Good analysis Ice. I am totally unsure between Sesko and Gyokeres, but I also worry if we get one of them and the other goes to one of our rivals and scores loads of goals while the man we got struggles and we suffer!
My personal preference is/ was Watkins and Muembo, both premier league proven with good finishing and offer something different to Kai. On the left we should get one of Gordon/ Ekitike/ Eze/ Rodrygo. Gittens is still young and doesn’t look like an upgrade to Martinelli.
03 Jun 2025 12:29:41
Watkins will be very good for us, the club thought it would be gamble to pay the asking price in January due to his age, but how that would have turned out we will never know. Him for 40 million will be a good business, whether he rotates as the main striker or plays as impact player, he will score goals for us. We should go for Gyokeres/ Sesko and Watkins plus one of Williams/ Eze/ Gordan/ Gittens/ Ekitike to get to the next level.
