Hi ed. Is there any truth behind us and Marquinhos, with regards to him signing a pre contract with wolves, so unable to sign for us?
Apologies if youve already covered this, and thanks in advance for response ?.

Ramsgategooner

{Ed002's Note - He signed an illegal contract and his club are forced to sell him or release him. I cannot see how a contract could legally be signed with Wolves.}

Love Santi. Hope he can stay fit, one of the most gifted midfielders I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

So, with regards to recent discussions/ opinions, I think I'm split. Am I pleased with where we are compared to 4yrs ago, absolutely I am. Could it of been better, yes.
Regarding Arteta, he's bought a connection back between fans and the club that threatened to boil over, so, again thankful for that.
Could he manage team and his own emotions better, 100%. And I (think) he knows that.
I'm not for one minute saying he's a messiah, but, he did have to clear out some players that were living purely for a wage. He's changed that mindset. We've all been literally crying out for a striker which hasn't been addressed (as of yet) but we had the most prolific scoring season last year in recent seasons. I'm not sure if it was more edu's imput than his, really don't know. And are PSR rules holding us back a little bit.
We might of bought a forward in the summer or Jan, with the biggest reputation in the world, but who's to say it would've worked out. I kind of like the fact we weren't willing to throw money away on a gamble for 6mths and wait for what we believe will be the right player. But again, if we sign a certain striker we would all crave and think would make us better, who's to say it wouldn't fall flat (think torres chelsea) example.
I've got an opinion on how my sons team should set up and perform better, would I be right? Who knows, but it's the opinions that matter, and most of the time we're all wanting the same outcome, just have a different view on how it might be achieved. But most decisions are a heads or tails, it'll either work or not. but absolutely no harm in trying
Really love everyone's input and opinions on here.

I read SY saying below we lack ambition. I just think we are being very picky. I bet Arteta is set on signing Sesko and is prepared to wait for him. Is this the right call? I'm not sure. I think we should have loosened our criteria a bit. Not getting the second best option may well end up costing us a trophy this season. But this should have happened in the summer. Even if we were more open to other options this January it was always going to be very difficult to pull off.

Now that we have made our choice i can kind of see everything coming together in the summer. Sesko, Zubimendi and Williams all look ready to move in the next window and we could finally see the squad being completed. A "complete" Arsenal squad sounds a bit surreal though so let's see if it really happens or not.

Ramsgate, that's the whole point of competition though - taking calculated risks. Of course, every player a team buys can turn out not to work, but you learn by doing.

If no one ever took a risk, we'd all be living a very different reality.

If you're not willing to take risks, then it's time to step away from the business of competitive sport.

I'm not saying I'm not pleased, because really, I am. We're playing some lovely football, most of the time.

My issue is not even really about this winter window. My issue is, in 5 (or is it 6?) years we've never really replaced adebayor. Seems strange when I say that out loud.

And to be honest, I don't even care for a marquee signing. I didn't know Martinelli before he played for us, or seen much of Ode before he played for us.

Hopefully Kai stays fit.

I’d rather wait and signe a striker in the summer than sign a 30 year old for 60m and inwas desperate for us to sign one, but I think we should have signed a winger people have there own opinions like sy said above, but some people don’t like it and come up with some stranger comments like sharpe said, am I happy where we are yes would I rather win than second of course and whoever says otherwise should never post again football is about winning not coming second you play to win trophy’s and don’t get one for second place,

On a side note, there are some things about social media that have a positive effect. But, the majority is full of idiots who hide behind this platform to spread s***
Latest is Joe willock.

A quick and very easy way of identifying those who use social media must be found both to prevent future suffering for victim's and to get those who are so clearly mentally unwell people the medical support they so desperately need.

Would people behave so irrationally if they knew they would face instant dismissal at work or all potentil future employers be made aware of their record before offering them work or that they would lose all entitlement to public funds for 5 years when prosecuted? Not those who were capable of controling themselves wouldn't and those who simply were incapable of controling themselves should most definitely be sectioned under the mental health act.

Good result tonight. Job done. Nwaneri fantastic goal and performance individually. Really feel for sterling, seems a great person, but however hard he tries it just seems to never happen. Maybe he needs to try a European league to find himself again. Clearly hasn't worked with us.

Hi everyone. Firstly, hope everyone had a fantastic Xmas and will have brilliant new year and a healthy one.
Just wanted to mention lewis-skelly, at 18yrs old, he just continues to impress me everytime I see him play. Wasn't best game yesterday, but, he continues to be a positive.

He was awesome - especially when Delap was all over him.
Really excited about him and some of the talent of the youngsters
There was something he did in the Ipswich game that was amazing. Can’t remember what he did but thought WTF did he just do and who did it. It was so so cool and natural when under pressure.

Regarding match of the day, wouldn't mind seeing Jeff Stelling fronting it.

1.) 14 Nov 2024 17:24:39
I assume it would have to be someone who gels with the other presenters, unless they will be leaving too.

2.) 14 Nov 2024 18:59:47
Jeff Stelling would be absolutely brilliant Ramsgate
So much better than the brain numbing state the frigging obvious w-----s on their atm.

3.) 14 Nov 2024 23:58:14
Jeff Stelling is brilliant in high tempo situations like Sky's Saturday afternoon show but not sure his energy would work with pre-recorded football though .

Yes, really good post shambo. Different style of player (and I'm not for one minute we'll go for, or are interested in) but you'd probably get ward-prowse for less, and with bags more experience behind him.

Genuinely feel majority of us ask a reasonable question, there are some (myself included) that seem to not word it right.

However, there are those that know what they're typing and know how they want and mean it to come across.

Id just like to mirror remarks regarding ed002.

You're insight and knowledge are gold dust. And we're privileged, as to all of the eds that keep this fantastic site going.

We are (pretty much) in the main an honest decent group. And value any comments and info you're able to give us.

Lastly, sincerely hope all eds and posters are well, and everyone connected with you ? ❤️.

{Ed014's Note - Ed02 has kindly put his info back on the above post and I’ll thank him personally on our group chat.

Just be kind people and treat others like you’d want to be treated.

One thing I want to say is, after all the years of reading (not always commenting) on this site, there was (still is) fun banter. Compared to other teams who wouldn't think twice about differing opinions escalating into becoming personal, it seems it's heading that way slightly (just my opinion)
We only know of each other from this fantastic site, and its fantastic to gauge other supporters opinions whether agree or disagree.
Wouldn't want our arsenal site to become like the other teams sites.
We all want same outcome 4 our great club, and if my suggestions are right or wrong, it doesn't matter as long as the club moves forward.
COYG.

Completely agree. He's a good forward, but, personally think we need to aim for a younger player with that kind of investment. Is he an upgrade on havertz? Not sure, as although havertz don't score as much, his all round game (my opinion) is slightly better.

Agree with all that post Sharpie
Just wondering if Skelly could perhaps fill the void of Saka?
After all Skelly has always predominantly been a midfielder and looks so calm and assured and even playing left back, his first thought is to burst forward.
