Hi Ed’s it seems common knowledge we are interested at least in Aouar and Partey. Would be interested to know if any other teams if any are talking to Lyon and Atletico? COYG.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - Juventus and PSG have enquired after Partey but neither see value in the fixed price. Aouar remains of interest to Manchester City but he is not first choice, as do Juventus but the interest of Barcelona and Chelsea will have gone unless. PSG might be interested as an alternative to Lucas Paqueta but might want to wait to their managerial situation is resolved first.Other interest can be forgotten.}

1.) 22 Sep 2020 21:38:06
Thanks Ed! Good to see some top top teams interested. Fingers crossed for one or both provided we sell COYG.

2.) 23 Sep 2020 00:48:59
I heard that regarding Partey, obv we don’t want to spend his buy out clause, so we’re playing hard ball. If they don’t work with us with the price we’ll buy full price last minute and they won’t have time to replace as it’s clear he wants to move on. could be a load of BS. thoughts?

{Ed002's Note - Just makes Arsenal look even more of a bunch of jerks.}

28 Aug 2020 11:55:50
Hi Eds. Understanding the delay in announcing Gabriel and after what Ed002 has said fully confident he will be a Gooner soon. My question is about Aubamayang and the reason he hasn`t yet signed a new contract. Would have thought it can only be financial and terms as the transfer of funds, registering etc aren`t applicable. Is the hold up the fact money and terms have yet to be agreed? COYG Thanks.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea I am afraid.}

1.) 28 Aug 2020 13:17:16
Hi Ed. When I am afraid I ask my missus for a cuddle. It helps soothe my nerves. Good luck!

2.) 28 Aug 2020 13:43:55
What's your missus number Alex? I get afraid quite a bit and if she's really hot I could be open to be absolutely terrified on a regular basis mate :-)

3.) 28 Aug 2020 16:05:58
😂😂. sometimes I suffer from the old petrification myself 62.stick me down for a trial.

4.) 28 Aug 2020 16:52:53
I wonder if he is holding out to see what happens at Barcelona and Messi?

5.) 28 Aug 2020 17:06:46
I'm always happy to share my fears with the right sort of company Shambles mate :-) .

6.) 28 Aug 2020 17:37:36
Do you think Barcelona would be interested Sally? Auba is a brilliant goal scorer but I'm not sure his all round game would be Barcelonaesk!

7.) 28 Aug 2020 18:29:25
Who knows gunner. I believe there were rumours Auba was holding out for an offer from them at one point. I was surprised when they appointed Kuman but what do I know haha.

8.) 28 Aug 2020 18:57:53
Good point about Barcelona choice of new manager Sally! Auba is absolutely brilliant for us but other than the usual tabloid rumour mill there has never been any offers for Auba from Barcelona Real City Liverpool United Chelsea or PSG either before or since he joined Arsenal.
We love Auba but I'm not sure the best premier league or European clubs share our feelings about him for some reason.

9.) 28 Aug 2020 21:19:17
That reminds me G62, I kept fearing everyone was out to get me, so I went and told my doctor and he said hold on a second, leant out the door and said he’s in here lads.

10.) 28 Aug 2020 21:53:50
I know how you feel Epping mate I've experienced very similar feelings myself mate, the only difference for me was I thought just one person was out to get me but the whole world knew their identity but was refusing tell me who they were!

11.) 28 Aug 2020 23:11:36
Highly doubt Barcelona are in for an ageing player when that is precisely the reason they got Koeman in. No, I think Auba doesn't have many options which is why he is staying. PSG or a rich Mickey mouse league are his only choices if he leaves, I reckon, and PSG can't guarantee starts over Mbappe and Neymar.

12.) 30 Aug 2020 08:47:23
I haven't heard any rumours of anyone coming in for Auba. Do any Eds know if there has been any interest?

{Ed002's Note - Aubameyangadingdong was always going to consider his options but there won't be much. PSG may offer him a way out as a Cavani replacement but they are well stocked and game time would be limited. Napoli retain an interest in Aubameyangadingdong as a preferred option to replace Milik - Barcelona could look to an offer but money and priorities are against it.}

21 Aug 2020 18:20:14
Hi Ed’s it has been mentioned elsewhere that four teams are in for Kante . Are Arsenal one of them? COYG thanks.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 21 Aug 2020 20:59:08
Thanks! Shame.

13 Aug 2020 16:00:11
Just read that Kia has slammed Sven Mislintat for his signings that cost a fortune. Leno and Aubamayang great signings, Torreira and Guendouzi good signings although may not have worked out we should get back more than we paid for them and Sokratis has been decent for not a great outlay. Can`t believe Willian and or Coutinho, Luiz and Soares will have much sell on value but the agents fees are very nice at least. He also said Arsenal has not even been mentioned to Fernandes! Just wondered if the rumours then are complete hogwash COYG.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - He is backtracking on Joelson after ptting a huge amount of effort to have Arsenal committ €45M and significant fees for him.}

1.) 13 Aug 2020 16:26:13
The fact Ed002 he has said what he has just confirms he`s a slippery wotsit and can`t believe him that Fernandes knew nothing of it when he`s put that much effort in. I fear Edu and Raul are hanging their hat on him and with his actual and potential signings we are back to square one where we have an aged squad of players who no one wants . Had enough of that recently COYG.

2.) 13 Aug 2020 16:32:46
Svens signings were brilliant, he's not not responsible for how Emery or Arteta manage them.

{Ed047's Note - that agent seems like an absolute nugget

3.) 13 Aug 2020 16:36:35
Could be wrong here and most probably am. But surely him back tracking on Fernandes perhaps shows arsenal wasn't willing to spend stupid money on him. Maybe he isn't completely brainwashed them yet. Who knows.

4.) 13 Aug 2020 19:59:58
Apparently he's an Arsenal fan too which is why he wants to help us with our transfers, bring success and fix the mess of previous transfers over the years! Welcome 32 year old Willian 😂.

5.) 13 Aug 2020 20:31:51
Good news Glen, what's to worry about then mate 😀😭.

6.) 13 Aug 2020 18:52:51
It will all cone out in the wash Ed047 mate, kia is obviously a road we are going down Whether we like it or not so we may as well hold on tight until this crazy part of our history passes.

{Ed047's Note - sure it will mate, the next few weeks will be interesting that’s for sure

7.) 13 Aug 2020 21:11:54
Exactly Gunner mate 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 I'd love to see Partey but I would be more than happy if we signed Doucoure. Willian brings experience, a good injury record and makes us more potent going forward. Doucoure would sure us up in the middle for sure and again has loads of Premier League experience. 2 more smartly thought out transfers and I'd be happy.

8.) 13 Aug 2020 21:32:28
I think there is a lot to be said for premier league experience Glen mate, there will certainly be different players at Arsenal next season and different players bring the hope of different outcomes whether you agree with the signings when they arrive or not you always have to hope they do the business in an Arsenal shirt once they are here.
Less hope the class of 2020 freshers bring more lasting optimism than the freshers of 2019 delivered :-)

01 Jan 2020 11:17:55
Hi Eds Happy New Year to you and all posters and readers. Are we serious about signing Upamecano ( would be exciting him and Saliba next season ) and are Leipzig ready to sell him, or as has been alluded to do we need to sell before we buy COYG Thanks.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - There has been interest before and if the decks can be cleared a bit there is no reason to think there may not be again. RBL say they have not had any approach at this time (well, as of last Saturday). Regardless, he is available and they have a replacement lined up.

Gabiel Magalhaes would be a cheaper and far better option.}

1.) 01 Jan 2020 11:51:48
Thanks Ed02 are we looking at Magalhaes? Pepe could put in a good word COYG.

{Ed002's Note - Gabiel Magalhaes (CB) could be added as Arsenal await Saliba. Lille have no intention of selling in January unless they are offered way over the odds and have already rejected a $25M offer from Juventus. He is however having a good season.}

2.) 01 Jan 2020 12:14:38
Let’s hope we are in for either or at least similar! Can’t believe Arteta is third manager who can’t see the blindingly obvious . Thanks for info COYG.

3.) 01 Jan 2020 13:03:44
I think and hope Artetta can transform this current squad into producing much much better performances and results during the final 18 games of the season and create a far more positive environment for any new players to come into during the summer.

I genuinely believe Artetta walked in already knowing exactly where our problems begin and end and what he needs to do to change them and it's on the training field where the answer is rather than the transfer market in my opinion.

{Ed047's Note - I’m certain Arteta knows exactly where we have been failing which is why it’s been clear he has been tightening us up defensively as a whole unit.

We have to let some go to bring some in and I believe the club are looking at doing that too.

4.) 01 Jan 2020 14:37:21
I'm not fussed if we buy or not or even who we buy or who we sell as long as we finally look like a team that is capable of both restricting the opposition to minimal scoring opportunies each game while creating plenty of chances ourselves once again in the majority of games Ed047 mate.

If Auba goes he goes and if Xhaka stays he stays for me it's all about Mikel and what he can get out of and produce with whatever players he has available to him.

A pundit (can't remember which one) said recently that " Arsenal need a squad of player who feel honoured to wear The Arsenal shirt again, not those who feel they are doing the club a favour by wearing it for them "

I think that's the perfect platform for Mikel to work from.

{Ed047's Note - to be honest I’m not fussed but think there will definitely be movement in January which I also think will make us stronger again.

5.) 01 Jan 2020 15:25:56
62 I think Arteta does know where the problems are and will be interesting to see if he buys or improves. I thought Mustafi did well against Chelsea apart from the goal, but it is the `apart from the goal` which is the problem. However it was an improved performance from him and doubly so because he hasn`t played much. Maybe Arteta sees an improvement in him and feels he can get much more over time or as I think we need to purchase a quality CB to partner Saliba next season. Interesting to see which way we go COYG.

6.) 01 Jan 2020 17:56:30
If we do buy it would be nice to see make some good signings without Sven as both before and after his time at Arsenal virtually every signing without him has proved poor Ed mate, wow how nuts were we to drive Sven away?

I agree Sussex mate their was improvement from Mustafi v Chelsea and hopefully their will be with Xhaka and others too.

I've been a huge critic of both Xhaka and Mustafi but if Artetta can turn them round I'd be very happy to eat any humble pie they serve me.

{Ed047's Note - having got him to the club it was pretty unbelievable when they then let him go.

Agree with Mustafi looking better but I don’t think Xhaka has it in him to make anyone eat humble pie.

7.) 01 Jan 2020 17:27:19
Lol Ed002 the fact that your saying that the guy from Lille is the better option and arsenal never make smart decisions, I think it’s fair to say we will probably buy Upamecano! Arsenal always make dumb decisions. And Ed the price Lille rejected for their player seems quite cheap considering the usual price of players today, unless I’m being naive.

8.) 02 Jan 2020 00:30:20
I loved Xhaka's performance today and think I will be happy with any decision on his future provided it's in line with Arteta's vision.

Mustafi on the other hand, I don't think there's any saving him. The only question is how big a loss we are prepared to accept. Personally I would write off the whole 35m and just send him out on loan. He is unsalvageable.

9.) 02 Jan 2020 11:50:47
Upamecano is the real thing. Strong, solid, positive and a definite leader. He reads the game very well and is an integral part of why RB Leipzig are top in the German Bundesliga. He's also young. A big upgrade on what we have and I believe he could adapt quickly and easily to the Premiership. That's where it often goes wrong with bringing in players from foreign leagues. I also think that's where it went wrong with Emery - he didn't understand the English game, didn't speak enough English so couldn't communicate. Arteta does both - plus he bleeds Arsenal red and had 3 and a half years studying under Pep. Yesterday was a watershed moment for Arsenal.

10.) 02 Jan 2020 20:02:12
Get ready for humble 🥧 Ed - I’m warming it for you 😂.

{Ed047's Note - good because I’m thinking I’ll be eating it! 🤣

11.) 02 Jan 2020 20:46:45
I may have a few portions to eat myself! Hopefully it’s low fat.

{Ed047's Note - 😂 after what I’ve eaten over Christmas it needs to be but it’ll be great if we have too!

12.) 02 Jan 2020 23:51:45
Amazing what 1 win can do.

{Ed047's Note - to be fair gola you were garbage against us until Leno gifted you that goal.

That and all that crap about the fat lad changing the game after he brought on that pile of pants Jorginho on, that was laughable.

You’re as far off winning anything as everyone else mate.

My in-laws are Man U fans and they had to talk their son out of giving his son the middle name "Sir-Alex". In the end they talked him down to allowing him to name the boy Bruno, but he wasn't allowed to give him the middle name Fernandes.

What about naming him Gervinho, Sussex?

7.) 12 Jan 2021 21:58:18
That is wonderful news! Congrats mate!

8.) 12 Jan 2021 22:01:51
Congrats Sussex

Michael Thomas would be a great name.

9.) 12 Jan 2021 23:22:28
Thanks guys Gervinho hmmmm! Have to say Malaga Michael Thomas is genius as May placate his Liverpool supporting Dad! Have also suggested Tom or Brady after the GOAT himself and a Buccaneer 🏴‍☠️ 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️COYG.

Liam is a great name after a great player from our past. Nice middle name.

27 Dec 2020 10:09:06
Firstly how welcome were those three points and hopefully the confidence can kick in and we move forward. However can we get away from this ` play the youngsters ` and all is good nonsense. Dissect the team yesterday and conceivably the only added youngster was ESR. Saka has been virtually ever present so cannot be included as a miraculous youngster. Martinelli is that good he would be playing anyway - not a youngster just a first teamer who was injured. The winner was perhaps the attitude as Sy said which coincided with the return of Gab and the playing of ESR and an obvious tweak that we play forward quicker and press as alluded to by Tierney. Don`t think that when fit Gabriel and Partey won`t return or that if we bought a world class number 10 ESR won't be benched. Keep Willian Pepe Luiz Ceballos etc away from the best starting line up not being ageist they just don`t have the correct attitude. I`m Attitudist. With the correct attitude these players should be much higher in the table. Crying out for a world class number 10 with a good attitude but to be fair we were in for Aouar just too tight. I agree with Malaga Auba get on board ( as you did last season and we won a trophy) or do an Ozil. Also remember yesterday`s team had players many on here wanted gone Hector Xhaka Holding Leno Laca even. Half the team. I`m not getting over excited by yesterday but I wasn`t getting depressed by what went before. Pick players who give 95 minutes for The Arsenal and the rest follows COYG.

4.) 22 Dec 2020 13:16:15
I can confirm no puppies were harmed in any way Mate, although some humans may have split their sides laughing at this joke or alternatively taken up drinking because this joke, either way all puppies are fine :-)

Or a Fox Malaga - Boom Boom COYG.

15 Dec 2020 09:48:25
Maybe I`m being too simplistic but why are we playing four at the back when you need to trust the two centre backs! I trust Gabriel but not fully Holding ( not him but Bellerin and willian not helping him ) . We were playing well last season and beat United away with playing three at the back! Play Holding Gabriel and Tierney in the three - our best defenders by a mile. if you have AMN/ Cedric on right and Saka on left it looks solid as they`ve all played full back and know the job and aren`t lazy then build from there. It`s a stubborness to play 433 which has us playing this badly. If it wasn`t broke ( end of last season ) why fix it? And we`ve added partey and Gabriel since COYG PS 343 doesn`t have to be defensive.

SUSSEX AFC

1.) 15 Dec 2020 13:47:33
As long as one of the two cm can create chances then no it doesn’t have to be defensive, but again we go back to chances being created 🤷🏼‍♂️ We desperately need a 10 or at least a box to box that scores goals, shame we let a decent one leave for free last year. think Ramsey and Partey could have been brilliant.

2.) 15 Dec 2020 19:29:16
The trouble with 3-4-3 is the 4 consisting of two wing backs not wingers. If you play 5 defenders then it can’t be anything else than a defensive formation. The question is, would you play Pepe on the right as part of the 4, after all it’s supposed to be our midfield not defence right. If the answer is no, then 3-4-3 is not for me. That being said, playing AMN and Saka as the wing backs does make sense as both are solid but can contribute down the pitch, so I have just contradicted myself completely! My main issue is if the wingbacks instantly drop alongside the back 3 when we don’t have the ball, which just results in us having a line of 5 defenders marking one center forward, and a midfield 2 getting completely overrun and desperately looking to the forward players to drop back and help. This formation definitely doesn’t work with a press, which is what all the most successful teams are doing currently.

04 Dec 2020 18:16:35
Don`t get me wrong fans going back is great! I`m hoping it`s Sunday obviously but what if the away team goes two up. Pretty sure the fans can practically have a one on one with a player not doing well! Could get lively COYG.

Lot`s of Brighton fans down here my Son included are annoyed he`s not playing in the first team let alone being third choice. Great back up for Leno - seen him live a few time at Amex and never got the jitters. Only thing is he is quite short at 6 feet for a keeper. Good choice me thinks COYG.
