Hi Ed002 hope you`re well. You said a while ago Arsenal were in for Ivan Toney if the price reduced. Is this still the case or as you like to say have we moved on? Thanks in advance COYG.
{Ed002's Note - I understand that efforts are being made still to take Toney to Saudi.}
1.) 29 Aug 2024 18:45:02
Hi ed002, you mentioned on the europe page before that Arsenal were likely bidders for Gyokeres. Is that unlikely as we near the end of the window.
{Ed002's Note - I am not sure I said likely bidders but it would take a single payment of €100M now and the player to agree. There may be an offer from elsewhere tomorrow but suspect Arsenal will step away at that price.}
26 Jul 2024 10:19:27
Hi Eds hope you are all well. Is there any interest in Thomas Partey as he enters the last year of his contract? Seems we are looking to upgrade him and just wanting to know if he`s aiming to run his contract down. Thanks in advance.
{Ed002's Note - There has been interest from Turkey and the Middle East but he wants to see his contract out. Arsenal want him moved on.}
1.) 26 Jul 2024 14:05:30
Thanks Ed002, frustrating for the club I guess but if ( a big if ) he stays fit for the season he is a big asset. Much appreciated COYG.
{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}
2.) 28 Jul 2024 16:35:50
From what I’ve seen merino isn’t an upgrade on Partey. Any CMs Eds you’d be looking at that’s up for potential grabs or you like the look of merino?
{Ed014's Note - I’d never heard of Merino prior to the Euros and never watched him there either.
Ugarte was supposed to be the dogs but looks like PSG are trying to off load him, have to ask why. Think Utd are looking at him to replace Casimero, but let’s be honest, any elderly lady would be better than that lump.
I liked the look of Wharton at Palace from what little I’d seen of him.
That aside no real idea mate, who do you like the look of?
3.) 28 Jul 2024 18:25:21
Wharton would be a great signing but I think Palace would want stupid money for him. I’ve seen Ruiz linked with us which could be a good signing.
4.) 29 Jul 2024 03:15:05
Well Ed I think the player I think Arteta could coach to be a worldy that would fit into the quality of squad we have is Mainoo not that we could get him. But he’s the kind of player. I always thought Kimmich could be an interesting one but I’ve seen you mention about his high wage and he looks maybe city bound if he moves?
{Ed014's Note - Mainoo does have a lot about him and I’m sure he’d be better here than where he is but that move would be very very unlikely.
Kimmich would definitely want big money and at 29 doesn’t have much of a shelf life.
I’m sure Arteta has someone in mind so it’s just a bit of wait and see unfortunately.
5.) 29 Jul 2024 18:59:02
Ed do you think though with Saudi buying players of all ages, teams will be thinking it’s now a possibility to get your money atleast back if you can get a quality player relatively cheap for the individual market valuation even if they’re on the older side of 20s?
{Ed014's Note - it’s possible mate but I don’t think things are going quite as swimmingly as the Saudis hoped and maybe the crazy money signings will drop off.
The other thing with Kimmich is how he’d affect the wage structure. There also doesn’t seem to be a mass of clubs looking to sign him.
14 Jul 2024 11:53:40
Hi Ed002 Hope you are well. Do Arsenal have any interest in Julian Alvarez at City? Not sure they would sell to us but would be a great signing COYG.
{Ed002's Note - There is interest from other clubs, but not Arsenal.}
1.) 17 Jul 2024 16:25:23
Thanks as always Ed002 ?.
18 May 2024 05:07:14
Hi Ed02 is there any truth in the rumour of Aaron Ramsdale to Newcastle? The reason I ask is because I would have thought Nick Pope was their number one and Ramsdale would be sitting on a different bench . Thanks in advance COYG.
{Ed002's Note - Aaron Ramsdale (G) Ramsdale is stuck rather and needs to figure out his future with Arsenal. Wolves are very concerned about losing Sa and are keen to take Ramsdale to replace him but have other options. Milan are the same with Maignan. Newcastle may offer a good solution that will be of interest to the player. A wildcard could be West Ham.}
1.) 18 May 2024 14:09:18
Thanks Ed! Other teams makes sense Newcastle not so much! Have a great weekend COYG.
{Ed002's Note - It will be due to Pope's injury and wanting better options than Dubravka.}
2.) 18 May 2024 16:19:50
Thanks again ?.
29 Aug 2023 13:14:54
Hi Ed002 Sorry to disturb you I`m sure you are very busy but I`ve just seen an article stating Edu has contacted Napoli regarding Osimhen and was given encouragement from his agent. Have we indeed contacted Napoli or is this just click bait? I have searched but couldn`t find anything. No worries if too busy just thought I`d ask COYG.
{Ed002's Note - Victor Osimhen (S) Napoli made it clear to Chelsea who enquired in 2021 that even €100M would not buy the player then and buy now they would look to around double that. He will not move this summer although an offer could yet be made by Al-Hilal will offer him a chance in the Middle East. Interest of Manchester City went with Haaland signing last year but may return if he were to depart. Real Madrid interest is elsewhere and Manchester United have opted for another. Conte wanted him at Spurs as a Kane replacement but the new management has other ideas. Bayern Munich now have Kane and that removes their interest and he is too expensive for Milan regardless of investment coming in. This leaves PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal, and his “agent” is doing the rounds this month to try and get them to seek to agree a deal with Napoli for next summer and give him a large fee now. Chelsea are not interested in such a deal. I doubt the others would be stupid enough to commit such huge amounts of money in such a deal either.}
1.) 29 Aug 2023 13:45:41
Thanks Ed much appreciated! Must stop reading clickbait COYG.

Is it the good news tell ten people bad news tell 100 scenario or have you all been invited to a party are recovering from a heavy night and left me out? A great result yesterday and nowhere near as close as result says.
Don’t fall into the media narrative that we let in two goals so have a soft underbelly, nonsense their first goal was well worked (teams can score against us - it’s allowed) and second an unstoppable free kick.
Important away game v Lisbon more than taken care of, third in the league, purring, most are fit, joint top scorers, three winnable CL games to come (8th 23rd and 30th to play) tons to be positive about.
Whatever Pool may think title race is on even if they beat City who are poor at the moment. Keep as we are and keep 11 players on the pitch and we are in for another rollercoaster. Is anyone out there? Mal you`re always positive ( except for Martinelli) have you been kidnapped?
COYMG
#IlikeMerinoandPartey.
{Ed014's Note - positive all the way for me mate.
We’re in a good place, not front runners, Liverpool already having won it in November. I like that.
#metoo
1.) 01 Dec 2024 18:32:57
Well, it's not 9 points behind city, and its slots first season, so there's still a decent glimmer of hope.
11 against 11 I think we're better than them, and if we can carry this form into christmas the gap will get smaller. Top 8 in the champions league is a massive bonus, think that's also going to be crucial for us with liverpool already all but secured.
2.) 01 Dec 2024 18:56:14
It's going to be a challenge to topple Liverpool that's for sure! They made City look very average today.
And yeah I agree the Hammers goals were something else.
We're doing well so no complaints from this lady gooner Sussex :)
3.) 01 Dec 2024 19:07:13
Don`t get me wrong Pool are playing well and deserve to top the league. Frustrated when we played them ( granted at home) when they were almost at full strength and we had Odegaard, Saliba, Calafiori all out and at 2-1 up ended with Partey White Kiwior and Lewis-Skelly as the back four we got mugged with Gabi and Timber off injured.
Four out of the nine points right there, it`s gone but shows we are pretty close to them having played several games a man down. Every team has a rocky patch let`s hope we`ve had ours and they haven`t, but most importantly I have 100% confidence MA and the boys haven`t given up. And we have had some tricky away games out the way City, Spuds, Chelski Villa Newcastle. Game ON! COYMG.
{Ed014's Note - they are mate but when we’re on it I don’t see them at the same level.
The first 20 minutes today was actually the best I’ve seen them play but they should have won by more as City were so poor.
I watched them live against Southampton last week and they totally unimpressed me.
Winning it was counts though and doing that has them top, you can’t argue with that.
But honestly no other side in this league frightens me like they used to under Wenger’s latter years with us.
4.) 01 Dec 2024 19:13:37
Oh and Jorginho stop standing in front of the keeper when he`s lining up a wall. Advantage or not it`s classless and beneath both you and The Arsenal. Stop it Man! COYMG.
{Ed014's Note - pointless exercise if ever there was one.
Talking of keepers, nice to see that worldie Martinez play like a clown yet again.
5.) 01 Dec 2024 19:22:11
Hi all. decent away win yesterday. we took our foot off the gas early in the second half and made sure we didn’t let them score again. regarding the West Ham goals… I think raya probably should have done a bit better with the first one. second one was an unreal free kick placed to perfection… BUT 100% was never a free kick in the first place. Declan’s tackle on the West Ham lad was absolutely first class, clearly taking the ball first. my initial reaction was… wow what a tackle by decs. so when Taylor the T*#T blew for the free kick, I was a bit puzzled. still no real harm done. and if any of you said 2-5 away win guaranteed. I’d have taken that all day long. just wanted to say it’s so good to have captain fantastic ode back. he’s vision and range of passing are on another level. ?⚪️❤️ COYG/ VTH.
6.) 01 Dec 2024 20:29:53
Great first 25 mins or whatever it was then we completely feel asleep to allow Hammers a fighting chance that they didn’t deserve. Defence still feel shaky for a title challenge and cover is not great.
Ode and Saka were class for the special goal
Honestly - Kai was fortunate as he had a terrible touch before the goal but still held his nerve. Goalie should have done better.
Raya can drift off a little, not best at crosses when under proper pressure due to his height so we need our first choice defence 100% of the time and the new Italian to screw his head on as mistakes are costly when we have to have 100% win record.
What yesterday showed was three things - when we play the ball forward and fast we are superb. However we keep drifting into stupid possession football with sloppy passes. Lastly, the back up guys just aren’t good enough - Kai, Jesus and Sterling are hopeless without Saka and Ode. I thought someone had stolen Sterling’s confidence and put a rope with a tonne weight on because he couldn’t run forward to save his life. Jesus was just as hopeless. Kai was poor except the goal. These guys just aren’t good enough to start and we must address in this window to have a fighting chance.
We are 9 points off and still with our normal wobble period to come. We need better cover at CB and far better options up front or Liverpool will be mentally Champs come Christmas.
Letting West Ham in - did show a weak under belly. Sorry
Our second half performance should a lack of quality in depth
First 25 mins showed how good we can be but a few I juries and we are screwed. Arteta has not built a strong enough squad. That’s on him.
7.) 01 Dec 2024 20:58:42
Hey Sussex me old mucker
The mighty Arsenal are on the move again
I’m not worried about the scouse, they will have a wobble and we will pounce
I do like an 89 battle, bring it on
Good to see you back 14.
8.) 02 Dec 2024 08:08:46
I'm really not fussed about the points difference between Liverpool and ourselves. We had a few bad days at the office without Ode's creativity and drive, but we've been playing very good football. At the end of the day, that's all I want from my team.
We'll eventually (I hope) find ways to win games without some of our more influential players.
#COYG.
{Ed014's Note - totally agree mate.
9.) 02 Dec 2024 10:27:36
Also agree Sharpie and Mal, Sy not so much COYMG.
10.) 02 Dec 2024 10:42:27
Ed025 has already crowned the scouse as champions.
{Ed025's Note - i have you know SW, they are the best team in the league mate and have what the rest are missing...strength in depth, you have a very good team when everyone is fit but when you lose a key player it all seems to go tits up im afraid, the Arsenal were my tip to be champions but you are playing catch up now and i dont see any weaknesses in the Liverpool team...i do wish i am wrong though..
11.) 03 Dec 2024 20:38:10
It's hard to argue with you, ed025, especially as we're massively reliant on ode, saka and our two cbs, but my red tinted glasses tell me that liverpool are due a wobble and that we are bang on form to pounce.
At least, let's see what Santa has in store.
{Ed025's Note - i really wish i could tell you different SW, Liverpool look very strong mate and even if they get injuries they have players of a similar ilk to step in and thats the difference with the Arsenal im afraid, if you can stay injury free or maybe bring in a couple of quality players in in January then things could change of course, but at the moment thats a big ask...but i wish you every luck in the world..
10 Oct 2024 10:55:04
I'm sure Gabriel has done worse to Haaland but throwing a ball at someone's head then running off does make Haaland a classless cockwomble! Especially as in the cold light of day he'd still do the same! Maybe just me COYG.
01 Oct 2024 22:49:48
Excellent performance and Mr Havertz again doing Mr Havertz things! Round it off with three points Saturday and then re group! Get In COYG.
1.) 02 Oct 2024 02:44:50
Saw someone mention today that if we signed Isak or Osimhen and he was doing for us what Havertz has done in the last 8 months then nobody would be talking about us needing a striker. That header tonight was brilliant.
01 Oct 2024 12:57:15
Sure you know but if not 8pm only on Amazon Prime tonight COYG. if you don`t have Prime find someone who will give you their login . Apologies for maybe stating the bleeding obvious.
1.) 01 Oct 2024 14:39:22
I'm popping into your gaff for the game. What snacks you got?
{Ed014's Note - a packet of rich tea and a couple of penguin bars at a guess, maybe a Wagon Wheel ?
2.) 01 Oct 2024 15:59:21
How very dare you! We’ve a lovely finger buffet, vol au vents, Black Forest gateau oh and a table just for you Sharpie with some nice watches jewellery etc! Bring a bottle! My address is ……. Yeah right COYG.
3.) 01 Oct 2024 22:33:42
I stopped reading at finger buffet.

Really interesting information ( for me at least) from Edu regarding how we look at transfers. Fans I guess just look at performance as it adds to the team. Edu - I`m paraphrasing - takes into account the age the salary and the performance. The age cut off seems to be 27/ 28 but if they are performing it is acceptable to be 26/ 27 with a high salary. If not performing you are out at 28. Essentially younger players performing on acceptable / even high salaries are safe but have to justify it even as they reach 28. I like it it keeps players needing to perform. Can see why Ozil, Mustafi, Auba, Pepe etc etc were got rid of. Age massive salaries and importantly not performing. My thoughts are about Merino, he`s 28 probably a hefty salary and not sure if he will perform. Is he a gamble? For me yes but it`s not my money COYG.

{Ed014's Note - ?♂️??
17 Jun 2024 21:10:00
Hi Ed025 I agree never been convinced - one season 22/ 23 everyone bangs on about with 20 goals but 6 pens included! Saka does that from the wing. Forget the pity penalty v Bournemouth Kai didn`t score in twelve games - then scored 12 goals in 25 games (think no pens) so on that form he gets 19 goals without pens - which is pretty good. He also assists. Haaland scored 27 goals but 7 were pens. Kai is nowhere the scorer Haaland is (Haaland played less games) but he is important to the way we play. Unless it`s top drawer and prem ready spend the money on the best midfielder possible to complement Rice and Ode. Isak is the only option for me or Alvarez but City won`t sell. Anyway what do I know but I know a man who does - come on MA get Isak COYG.
{Ed025's Note - i think Isak would be perfect SUSSEX, it looks very unlikely to happen though but you still need a top draw striker for me mate, Kai will do a job but if he gets injured you are up the creek without a paddle i feel..
02 Dec 2024 10:27:36
Also agree Sharpie and Mal, Sy not so much COYMG.
01 Dec 2024 19:13:37

RIP Ed002! Transfer windows won’t be the same without you! I used to pass on loads of his posts to my mates to put them right mainly regarding transfers and finances. As Sharoie said ask a question with respect you always got a respectful response. Used to make sure I’d read the pages before asking a question and my favourite response was always RTFP! Legend and will be missed . Condolences to his family and friends.

Very lethargic yesterday. Once Ode is back so Rice, Ode and Merino/ Partey with White back at right back instead of Partey and Kai up front and not faffing around swapping with Trossard we are a different animal. We become much harder to beat with just one player back and White in correct position makes us more dangerous down the right. Martinelli really hasn`t helped as we either go right or get no end product. I`d prefer Tross or Jesus out there. No excuses for yesterday as should have had enough. Toothless yesterday very strange COYG As for title over talk bowlocks it is.
