Lots of chatter about a youngsters called Sverre Nypan. Have any Eds got any info please. Seems he's highly rated.

Also Evan Ferguson. Perhaps he is being considered as a bit of help for Havertz who it's been reported had to be helped off at the weekend as he was so knackered.

Sallyjannine!

{Ed001's Note - sorry for late reply, took the old folks to see Atlantis today, it was the first time they had been back since it sunk beneath the waves....

I believe Nypan should be all set to join, there were other offers but he seems set on Arsenal.

Ferguson is still not back to anything like his best, I would be very surprised if Arsenal moved for him. He is being offered around.}

1.) 27 Jan 2025 19:42:25
I'm intrigued where you took your folks Ed lol

And thanks for the info. Looks like Nypan could be a good signing for us :)

{Ed001's Note - Atlantis is a big hotel on Palm Jumeirah with a waterpark and aquarium. It is a beautiful place to visit and Emirates residents get 30% discount.}

Orndtein saying we probabky won't be getting Sesko this window.

Sallyjannine!

1.) 23 Jan 2025 20:53:22
Hi Sally, hopefully we move to plan A or B. Seaman was saying on talk sport we are working super hard trying to get a striker which is good to hear. Not sure if we left it u til a Jesus got injured or European next round guaranteed ( almost ) but sounds like they are trying. ?.

2.) 23 Jan 2025 20:56:14
Wont be Randal Kolo Muani either as he’s gone to Juve.

Wonder if that has a knock on impact?

3.) 23 Jan 2025 23:36:26
I'm a bit concerned about Cunha's attitude Sy. Apparently he had a 2 match ban for attacking an Ipswich security guard and got fined 80k.

4.) 24 Jan 2025 06:38:09
NADA looks a safe bet again this January.
Same as last year….

5.) 24 Jan 2025 19:33:10

Can any of our lovely Eds please put us out of our misery and let us know if we are anywhere near signing anyone this window? I think I'd be happier if you said nothing will be done as then I would stop endlessly searching the rumour pages haha

Hope you are all well and enjoying your various clubs' football this season.

Sallyjannine!

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, I am not expecting much to happen at all for anyone other than City. It looks like it will be a quiet window as money is so tight.}

1.) 21 Jan 2025 17:57:11
Thanks Ed, much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

2.) 23 Jan 2025 09:16:18
I get a feeling that this arsenal set up will not budge on the type of player they want and won't rush into any knee jerk signings.

Sesko is the player they want it would seem and he is not coming this winter, part of me likes this approach as we have made some poor decision in the past when not securing our first choice target, however it does seem to me that we don't seem to have any other close choices, it cost us in the summer, and it looks like costing us in the winter transfer window.

I am not sure if I feel this is good practice and having a vision of who we want or just bloody singly mindedness that is having a negitive impact on our squad development.

03 Jan 2025 21:42:05
Now here's the question. Will Saliba have his head turned by Real Madrid?

Sallyjannine!

1.) 04 Jan 2025 08:07:35
I don’t think so sally

I still think he has much more to learn under the boss and it looks like he’s really enjoying playing with our back 5.

Hi eds, there is lots of chatter about Vlahovic to arsenal at the moment. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this please.

Sallyjannine!

{Ed001's Note - there was a longstanding interest, but I don't know if that went with Edu or not.}

1.) 13 Dec 2024 17:25:23
Thanks Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome Sally.}

2.) 18 Dec 2024 15:35:09
Hey Ed, Do you see us pushing for deals this January. Vlahovic as asked above is an interesting one but Arsenal may wish to wait til the summer to go Big on Isak who looks very much like an Arsenal kind of player. Whether Newcastle sell is a different story. Kudas is another interesting one who's got quality in the final 3rd. One name I'm not sure I've seen mentioned and I'm sure will trigger some Lols. Pogba? What a quality player he was a few years back. at 31 tho and not proven for a few years now. Could be too much of a gamble.

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect much to be done by anyone mate, not in January. The regulations are constricting teams from doing business, unless they offload players first. That is why Arteta is looking to blood youngsters. If they perform, then brilliant. But if they do not live up to expectations, they can be sold for a higher price due to having Prem experience - so win, win.}

Do any of our Eds know what this new APT victory by City means? Have they just won regarding the old APT rules and not the new ones. Soooooooo confused!

Sallyjannine!

{Ed001's Note - it is against the old rules, there is a separate case pending against the new ones, so it should mean little.}

1.) 15 Feb 2025 17:59:31
Thanks Ed, your clarification is appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome Sally. We will know more in the next few days when the clubs have had time to examine the judgement properly.}

2.) 15 Feb 2025 18:50:22
Ed001, I'm reading that tribunal have ruled in City's favour on sponsorship deals. I know it isn't directly Arsenal related but I wonder if this will impact other PL clubs. I'm not sure how sponsorship deals work, I assume the more successful a club is the more sponsorship they attract. Or am I being naive and there is more to it than that?

{Ed001's Note - this is about APT sponsorships again Sally. They were blocked from a couple of deals involving companies that are owned by the Abu Dhabi ruling family, Etihad Airways was one and First Abu Dhabi Bank another. Basically, the ruling has just said that it was unlawful to block those deals. It is not about success, it is still about them being from related companies. If they were getting the big sponsorship deals that usually come along when a club is successful, their owners would not have to keep finding sneaky back-handed ways to pump money into the club like this. Success does help, but you have to have a fanbase to entice sponsors and Citeh simply are not a big club in that regard.}

3.) 15 Feb 2025 22:36:29
Thanks again Ed001. What a conundrum!

{Ed001's Note - personally I think they need to give owners ways to pump money in. Maybe something similar to the NBA's luxury tax, where a team spending over the cap has to pay a tax. That tax then gets split between the other teams. That way a team can overspend but they are helping everyone when they do so.}

4.) 16 Feb 2025 02:55:55
I agree ed001, the solution to me should be something other than what would in any other case look like clear money laundering.

{Ed001's Note - interesting way to put it.}

Just seen this Dennis Bergkamp quote:

"When you start supporting a football club, you don't support it because of the trophies or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong. "

?.

1.) 06 Feb 2025 19:43:21
Smart man, helluva player.

2.) 06 Feb 2025 20:06:21
A winner.

3.) 06 Feb 2025 20:43:14
My wife stopped going to the Arsenal after The Dennis retired. Last game she went was his testimonial against Ajax at the first game at the Emirates.
I know what he is driving at because I was bought up about a mile from White Hart Lane but my first ever professional game I saw was Arsenal way back in 1964 and that's where I felt I belonged.

4.) 06 Feb 2025 22:10:30
Hi Bill I think once you've made your choice (usually at a very young age) the commitment and bond just gets stronger and stronger with the passing years.

For me my passion for football has become 100% dependent on my passion for The Arsenal, if ever I lost my passion for the Arsenal me and football would be done too.

5.) 07 Feb 2025 07:40:51
Same here John mate.

04 Feb 2025 14:18:34
Ornstein saying Isak probably not possible for us as PIF have him at the head of their plans. As they own lots of clubs as well as Newcastle I suppose it makes sense for them to keep him inhouse.

Sesko he thinks is a real possibility woohoo!

Sallyjannine!

1.) 04 Feb 2025 20:25:09
I have to seen anything is Sesko sally
Is he any good?

2.) 04 Feb 2025 21:13:14
I’ve only watched clips on line and read a bit about him. Seems to score a decent amount of holds with head plus both feet. Not sure how quick and nimble he is or deadly but can’t be too bad

I’m still a Victor Osimhen fan though….

3.) 04 Feb 2025 22:58:32
Haven't seen much of him Mal but he definitely gets talked about a lot!

30 Jan 2025 17:33:17
Bit annoyed that 7 of our last 8 games this season won't be on tv (3 o'clock kicks offs)
Booooooo!

Sallyjannine!

1.) 01 Feb 2025 09:48:00
Sally I think if we are still in the mix the channels will put on extra games involving the mighty Arsenal.

2.) 01 Feb 2025 11:33:08
I agree Mark, game dates and times are subject to change depending on TV companies interests, if we are still in the mix some of those 8 game schedules will be changed to accommodate those who pay the piper.

3.) 01 Feb 2025 19:04:12
Thanks guys.

30 Jan 2025 13:24:08
If we don't bring anyone in this window I'd go Trossard Martinelli and Nwaneri with Havertz just behind.
My worry if we do get Ollie is could that jeopardise any preferred signing in the summer? Surely if we did get our "favourite" then Ollie would be backup?

Sallyjannine!

1.) 30 Jan 2025 20:12:16
It’s probably a bit of a panic buy and very last minute and only got ourseolves to blame. If we are to challenge, we need to invest. We failed in the last few wi ter windows to do what’s required. If we get Ollie, we are stronger and he’s a decent striker with a few years in the tank but limited sell on value. Would he be a spare part next season? Why not sell Jesus to free up some space and have two decent options. Sell Kai?

Buy Nico, Ollie, Osimhen - sell Jesus, Trossard and Kai. Doesn’t that resolve the issue and strengthen the team a lot…the wages that would free up would be huge and help pay for the upgrades.

If we don’t improve - we are saying once again - we don’t want to win the league (again) . Just my negative opinion.

2.) 30 Jan 2025 21:00:10
OK, we do all this, and it doesn't work what's next?

3.) 30 Jan 2025 22:11:42
Hi, what’s your point? We could always do nothing in any window. If we do this and nothing happens - at least we tried and showed some ambition while addressing the glaring holes in the attack….

4.) 01 Feb 2025 11:52:32
Football like life is so easy when viewed through a fantasy lens where all our personal desires are both possible and so very easily achieved, if only other people had the sense to listen to us.

And the really wonderful thing about fantasy football it's never exposed to the test of the real world so the dreamer can continue to convince themselves that they really do have all the answers to all the problems without fear of ever having to come up with the goods.

5.) 01 Feb 2025 14:27:32
Who said we have all the answers but I’m sure we have the brain to have an opinion. Doesn’t mean they are right but if the whole footballing world says we need a striker and our attack is one sided and slow. Surely there is a valid point somewhere. You can’t control the narrative or try to mock opinions with some credibility. Saying we stand still feels more ridiculous than the club stepping up and improving the starting 11…. Do you honestly believe we are in a strong enough position to win the league.

6.) 01 Feb 2025 17:44:47
Do Nico, Ollie and Osimhen want to join us? Do Jesus Trossard and Kai want to leave? In a fantasy world they have no choice because in a fantasy world they are merely pawns in the fantasy football game .

Back in the real world it's no quite so easy because players have to want to come, their clubs have to want to sell them, other players have to want to leave and even if they agree to leave other clubs have to br prepared to buy them at a price that would fund the proposed replacements.
