Good morning Eds and gooner ladies and gents.
Quick questions for Ed 002. It's being reported an unnamed Prem club have tabled an offer which Leeds are seriously considering, rumoured to be close to £60M including add ons for Raphina. The fee part is irrelevant I'm just enquiring as to whether you might know if this unspecified club is Arsenal or if Chelsea or Spurs are looking to sign the player?
Also, hoping you might have some updates on Gabriel Jesus?
I know reports are everywhere of our interest but I'd just like to hear it from your good self as we've been down this road before and lost out on deals to more proactive clubs so like many my first stop each day of the transfer window is here for informed info.
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - If this has happened this morning it would be unliklely it is Chelsea or Spurs as both have other priorities today.}

Appreciate it Ed. Have a good one.

Hey Ed's,
Hope your all well.
Can I just ask Ed 02 if you are aware of any details of the Guendouzi deal to Marseille as we've all heard there's an agreement in place for a permanent deal for a fee between €9-€12M.
I know we've done extremely well recently with regards to outgoings, as highlighted by a fellow poster on the banter page, but I still have a concern around how Arsenal negotiate and put a value on some of it if outgoings.
Auba and Ozil of course are obvious in that they went for free and the perception was we would save on wages, a mess all of our own doing originally.
But I do have concerns over deals like this and the Torreira one where our public urgency to be rid of an unwanted type of player diminishes his value when they are performing well about the rumoured sale price.
Other teams seem better at selling unwanted assets for surprisingly large fees at times and I'm curious about your opinion specific to Guendouzi at least.

Shambo3

{Ed002's Note - I can confirm that on July 1 Guendouzi will formally become a Marseille player under an obligation to buy. The player is very pleased with joining Marseille and fears they would sell him on for a profit have gone. Arsenal have struggled with selling players due to overpricing and not negotiating well - hence Granit Xhaka did not join Roma and Arsenal gave him a nice new contract. They have made errors with buying (Pepe is the best example) and have ended up in a situation where they need to buy two strikers in the summer.}

Cheers Ed appreciate the reply ?.

2.) 31 Mar 2022 14:39:15
Arsenal have also struggled selling players due to the C.V. - as have many other clubs. It's only fair to acknowledge every side of the issue; it's not all the result of incompetence (though that certainly has played its part) .

Morning Ed,
Could you clarify something for me?
If reports are true it's claimed Abraham has agreed terms with Arsenal.
How is this allowed when it appears Arsenal have not yet approached Chelsea with an official bid to rival that of Roma?
Are they doing the Arsenal thing when it comes to transfers here and looking for a more favourable price and risking losing the player by annoying the selling club with penny pinching because the Roma offer does not seem excessive at all.
Also could you give any insight you might have on the realistic opportunities to sign both Tolisso and B. Silva.
And just one last question, looking for your personal opinion here. Why, compared to other clubs, do Arsenal find it so difficult and why does it take them so long from when they begin negotiations to when they officially announce signings? I mean it happens all too regular where they are inept at getting their business done clean and quick and very rarely is it done in a way that gives the incoming player time to hit the ground running.
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - His agent has permission to find him another club so it is fine by Chelsea - but I am not sure it is true. There was a lot of pressure on Tuesday for him to agree a move to Roma after rejecting Atalanta. Whilst he may want a move to Arsenal the club has not made an offer and Roma will push today to complete a deal.}

1.) 11 Aug 2021 10:39:04
Interesting Ed.
Are you aware of preferred targets or have Arsenal stopped looking for a striker based on ‘Lacca’ interest in our own strikers?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained all of this before so there is nothing new. Right now huge efforts are being made to sell players.}

2.) 11 Aug 2021 10:45:45
Hi Ed you mentioned a little while ago that Icardi is very much on Arsenal`s radar if he leaves PSG. With Messi arriving and likely he will get less game time is Icardi looking to leave? After all PSG need the money lol COYG.

{Ed002's Note - No. I have never said such a thing.}

3.) 11 Aug 2021 10:59:19
I read it again and I think it was wishful thinking on my part. I guess he is on Lazio`s radar not ours. Thanks again for info COYG.

4.) 11 Aug 2021 11:42:43
Cheers Ed. Appreciate the work and prompt reply. 👌💯.

Hey Ed 002,
I know you don't like to speculate but could you give some insight into whether Arsenal are still actually looking to strengthen in these positions, GK, RB, CM or Striker?
If so, would you have any idea of who they are realistically targeting at this point?
Appreciate your time 👌.

Shambo3

{Ed002's Note - I don't think there is anything new in terms of targets and the club certainly want to add a G like Onana, a RB like Aarons or Dest, a midfield player, perhaps an AM rather than a CM, and a Striker. Serious efforts are being made to sell players.}

1.) 05 Aug 2021 15:04:15
Appreciate the insight and quick response Ed. 👌💯.

2.) 05 Aug 2021 15:12:58
Interesting Ed, do you think it's just the market in which it is tough to sell and basically find buyers willing to pay bare minimum or Arsenal are simply not good in selling these players? Because the reports suggest enough interest in few of these players we want to sell.

{Ed002's Note - The Xhaka deal was killed by Arsenal asking too much. There are huge efforts being made to try and sell players now.}

3.) 05 Aug 2021 20:08:45
Ed has/ is Declan Rice been of interest to Arsenal?
Think he’d be perfect for us.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

4.) 05 Aug 2021 20:46:53
Dammit!
Thanks for the quick response Ed 🤙🏼.

5.) 07 Aug 2021 10:44:15
Music to my ears Ed, you mentioning Onana. These Ramsdale links are keeping me up at night. I just can’t see what the appeal is. For me he’s Kepa on his worst days.

{Ed002's Note - Onana is an option but there remains the interest of another side who would likely be more attractive to the player - hence the Ramsdale option.}

Well Ed hope your weekends going well.
Just want to tap into your potential knowledge on something that's been annoying me.
Regarding Willian.

{Ed002's Note - I am not interested in discussing the finances - it causes confusion.}

Hector Bellerin was woeful last night. I lost count how many times he ran the ball out of play and he kopped out early in the second half and just resorted to persistent fouling on Gordon before the guy could get turned and expose him.
When he did actually run with purpose into their box he lost the run of the ball completely and fouled.
A complete step backwards if he stays, he’s had ample time and opportunity and isn’t up to it, as much as I’d loved to have seen him kick on because he's never let the club down as an individual.
I think the arrival time of Tomiyasu has highlighted how poor we’ve been in this position since Sagna left.
Torreira should be given a chance but Arteta seems very harsh on him for some reason. Like he’s a better all round player than Elneny yet Arteta gives him no chance. That’s a weird one.

Cheers Ed,
Gonna be tough to prise him away on that basis, unless City were to sign both Cucarella and Mitchell I can’t see why they would let such a quality player go.

Beat on the street is that a Zinchenko approach is incoming.
Personally I’d love this to happen I think he’s quality, any info on this Ed?

Shambo3

{Ed002's Note - Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB/LM) With the Mendy situation, MC will resist any approaches for OZ and have two players in mind to supplement the LB/LWB/LM position. It is unlikely they would sell without strengthening first but Arsenal now nkow that the transfer is a matter of urgency and will push to get it completed.

His performances are part of his attitude tho VM mate, that’s what separates the better players. I’ve lost count of the games where’s he’s been brought on and backed by the manager to have an impact and he’s been inept, that’s solely on him because he could be chasing back hard and putting himself through the pain barrier if he wanted, he just doesn’t feel like he has to and that’s the problem.
He’s never shown he’s trying to turn his form around with hard graft, it’s like he wants his strengths played to so that he doesn’t have to over exert himself.
You can forgive a good player who’s form is out but not someone who relies on others to do it for him.
And that’s been the message with Arteta to be fair, he doesn’t suffer passengers.

Glad to hear you had such a memorable day!
I’m heading over from Ireland in September with my 7 year old son to the Utd game at old Trafford, he’s a United fan (for now) so going for a similar score line to the one you got today, hahah.
Ed Saliba is a Rolls Royce mate, the confidence is high also right now, you can see how comfortable he is drawing opponents in close and then weaving his way out of trouble. Yet to be tested properly but when’s the last time you were so excited for a season?
When Tierney and Tomi come back into that side we’re a handful for anybody.
Let’s not forget about ESR and Vieira either!

Perhaps your right Glenn mate, I just call it as I see it. I read Sallys post and had high hopes, but found it quite underwhelming. I looked in the eyes of those players and I didn’t see collective recognition, I didn’t see them rising to their feet in unison in raw nervous energy at the end, rather it was sporadic token clapping and I think the way he walked out so fast at the end took away from it maybe.

And look you have to remember he had some players back then who were hard to motivate so I’m not anti Arteta, far from it like Ed I just want to see him match the talk with some walk.

I’d rather see that reaction he had on the sideline at Anfield last season than that clip, I mean it was a little counter intuitive to reference a team of skilled individuals who only do what they do because they love it and that he was relying on them to save him only to then take all burden away by saying no matter what they do he will relieve them of all responsibility because he knows they are ‘good’.

Ah look maybe it is harsh because he also has to speak using words they all recognise in a room where English is not universally spoken as the first language. But, unlike Hampshire, I don’t see it as a speech that was focused on an intimate knowledge of the players, he can be quite fractious depending on which player you hear from, but that’s not a quality I dislike in my manager I think he’s managed the change of personnel in a really impressive way that could be the making of him.

Bottom line tho is he’s given us a side to be excited about again, you can see there’s a different mood around the club and on the pages here. We just need to get behind them now and give them that extra push. and hope those ‘rousing’ motivational speeches get those players a little more roused next time, hahahah.

I got to be honest, as far as inspirational sporting speeches go, that was very very tame.
From the look of a few of those players, I’d say few of them were on the same wavelength as him, and that sheet at the end just looked like a mess I’m not sure what you could take from it as a player.
Yes it’s great to see him strip things back and open up, but really and truly that was not a team talk that sends your starting 11 ready to run through walls for you.
I don’t know what’s happening that so many people find this praise worthy, and it’s nothing personal against MA, but it was so tame I couldn’t believe what all the hype was about.
