Arsenal to sign Khedira, Manolas and Falcao(loan). Only thing holding the deals up is Wenger and players want to know outcome of the tie against Besiktas. If we don't qualify (god forbid) only Manolas will come in, with Rabiot a possible alternative to Khedira.

mhc

{Ed025's Note - sounds good mate..

1.) Since it is an all you can eat buffet, hmmm. let's see. i'll have ronaldo, reus, and you can throw in that other chap. what's his name? messi? yeah.

Come off it mate.

2.) Rabiot is an attacking midfielder, not the same player as Khedira who we need. Khedira. German, cultured holding midfielder, Mesut's best friend and World Cup winner. That's who we need.

3.) Khedira is not a holding midfielder. Why do people think he is?

Not to be the harbinger of doom but everyone calm down a little on Sanchez. This time last year everyone, including the bbc, was reporting we were about to sign Higuain and look what happened.

I'm not saying it won't happen I'm just saying don't get excited until it's on the Arsenal website.

mhc

1.) 06 Jul 2014 08:41:42
Mhc,

I think we all post more in hope than expectancy mate.

2.) Very true live and believe is my motto

3.) 06 Jul 2014 09:24:59
Nah let's all get excited it's what's the window is all about. Then we can all get disappointed at the end of it.

4.) We love the highs and lows of the window. How, else do you expect us to cope once the WC is over!

5.) I just hope city don't scupper our deal for sanchez but then again why would he go to city when it seems all they do is ruin careers any way if we get sanchez would be one hell of a signing simply because this fella can play
Anywhere left right center or as cover for giroud exactly what we need

6.) Bookie's suggesting transfer to Arsenal is 1/4 with both Man City/Utd at 16/1.
Make of it what you want.

7.) Well smartie let's hope the bookie wins that's all I can say

I've been told that the reason we pulled out of the Cesc race is part of an agreement for Chelsea to open negotiations with us regarding Lukaku. Anyone else heard this?

mhc

1.) 06 Jun 2014 08:35:29
Sounds good to me!

2.) Sounds like fantasy.

3.) Would Work for me! Lukaku could tear any team apart with our midfield

4.) 06 Jun 2014 12:20:05
Ed, is there any interest from arsenal for Iker Casillas?

{Ed002's Note - David Marshall is the target right now.}

5.) Sounds like the worst deal in the world IMO. Give Chelsea a free reign to sign a top class player that would improve their team just to give us the right to buy a one season wonder (so far) player they don't think is good enough for them.

6.) 06 Jun 2014 16:30:47
Lukaku is NOT a one season wonder.

Could Arsenal go for Diego Costa after Wenger's comments today? {Ed044's Note - I am told by another Ed that there is little to no chance that Costa will leave Spain in January, nor in all probability next summer.}

A deal for Arda Turan is very much on the cards for Monday. Trying to get it done for buy out clause of £24m.

Very good source this.

Btw everyone be slightly wary of tv reports. They have been known to report stories or rumours they know to be false to encourage betting

mhc

1.) My thoughts exactly, most of their reporters/correspondents seem to be more trained actors than journalists to me

Apparently we are going to wait until Monday and gamble on cast offs. (Madrid for example).

Seeing as international week it is likely we will miss out on all targets.

mhc

1.) Transfer window closes on tuesday midnight in spain, and levy plans to wait until then to finish the bale deal.

They really do fear us. lol

2.) Can't, our window closes 10pm Monday, all English clubs must be done then, anyway levy's desperation to get cl football may be his Achilles heal, he's brought but not brought well, all should ask why no big clubs are after these players, must be a reason.

3.) 30 mill for lamela, 25 mill for a 28 year old soldado

they still have defoe and adebayor on the books and massive wages too.

alot of new players also means time needed to blend.

we should utilise the early stages of the season to build a gap. and hold fort.

Another point I would like to make is that Wenger is a very stoic manager. It would not be the first time the board have said we have money when we don't and Wenger has taken the stick. I am not excusing the man from all blame, however it is possible he is allowing himself to be the fall guy yet again because he loves the club.

You might find his bold statements irritating, but until we make signings he can't come out and say the current players are crap can he? He needs to keep confidence up amongst our current crop. Hopefully we manage to get some deals across the line before the end of the window, but IF Wenger's hands are being tied then we are doing a diservice to a man who gave us so much. A man who has turned down offers from Real Madrid amongst others.

Even if Wenger is to blame for the lack of spending then we at least owe him the courtesy of thanking him for his work and giving him a respectful send off. That is the least we can do for him. We are a million miles further ahead than we were when he took over and it may just be he has run out of steam. Either way he does not deserve the abuse he has been getting.

I thought we were classier than that.

{Ed022's Note - Mhc, there is no doubt about us having the money. We have over £100m in reserves. Forbes, Deloitte and other sources confirm this. The factor here is there must be a reason WHY Wenger hasn't spent yet..}

mhc

1.) Yes that is the point I am making Ed. We know Arsenal have money. What we don't know is if Wenger is being allowed to spend it. Gazidiz admitted we have cash because he had no choice - everyone could see it. Doesn't mean Kronke and co. have told Wenger he can spend it. Wenger is a great manager, he obviously sees the gaps. The reason that he hasn't spent it might lie at someone else's door is the point I am making.

2.) We have the money & Gazidis said so. It is Wenger who won't spend, combined with offering poor deals when we after players.

{Ed022's Note - I just get the feeling there is an underlying problem which isn't being highlighted...}

3.) Arsenal Holdings PLC's financials at 30/11/12 state cash in bank at £123m. Add in sponsorship deals signed (Emirates/Puma), the gervinho fee (if fully paid) and the champions league money recently paid and we are probably closer to £150/£160m. I really think money is not the issue here.

{Ed022's Note - No-one is saying money is an issue. As I have said, it's quite clearly stacked up in bank accounts. The reason behind why it isn't being spent is more the issue...}

4.) It is getting more & more obvious that there is an underlying problem! It has to a fairly serious one as well. Eds have said for a while now that there is are big changes happening so maybe this is part or cause of them.

{Ed022's Note - The takeover theory has been mentioned as a reason for no money coming out as that would be part of the value of the club if Stan Kronke was looking to sell. Therefore, we could see a takeover, however, there is no evidence this will happen at the moment and it would mean the whole window has been a bust!}

5.) Ed. I don't think there is any mystery as to why the money hasn't been spent. Wenger was once asked what would he do if he was given 100 million to spend on players. His reply was he would give it back. The guy is a stubborn old fool who wants glory by winning without spending lots of money to prove he is the greatest coach ever. Well he isn't and never will be. A good coach sure but not great. Never won the CL and didn't even manage to win the premiership back to back. And its highly unlikely he will win them in the future.

6.) 'Deluded', wenger was also asked, what he would do with £50mil and he said sign neymar.
Before that he was asked if you could sign one played who would you sign, and he said gotze.
So surely something is restricting him.
Add to that the low offers they have been making for players this season.

I'd like to make a point re. Dick Law who seems open to criticism. I particularly love how people claim he "isn't a football person". I'd like to point out a few things.

1. He was a key ally of David Dein
2. He was crucial in the signings of Gilberto Silva, Vela, Ramsey and Walcott amongst others
3. He is a FIFA licenced agent

The guy knows the game and he knows his job. The lack of spending has to be coming from Wenger or Kroenke/Kroenke's mouthpiece Gazidiz.

Either way we have people in place who know how to get a deal done. What we don't seem to have is the ability to open the wallet.

mhc

1.) Well said. Truth will out as they say.

What do you mean in the news soon? It's been all over the internet and news for the last week that Puma might try and push it through to fit in with their kit unveiling.

Uh oh. Are those voices in your head talking to you again Malaga?

Don't give up. If your "sources" link us to literally every player in the world eventually one of your random guesses will pay off :)

Giroud or Mertesacker getting injured would really hurt us. I see them as our two most vital players who aren't adequately covered.

Jurgen Klopp is number one target for the board as I understand. Wenger is very keen on a manager in Japan who's name escapes me though. A very similar manager to Wenger he plays similar football.

Personally I would go for a big name future manager who can be here for a few years. Someone early in their career but with a reputation to attract players. For me Klopp or Conte would be ideal choices.

Are you serious?! Drop Gerrard? You must be joking.

First of all I hate the idea of going there as also runs. We at least have to give it our best shot.

Secondly if Gerrard deserves to go he should go. Best players go. Not the best players in 2018.

No need to apologise for a rant Ed! But correct me if I'm wrong isn't that exactly the point I made in my first post ;) {Ed007's Note - Ooopsss!!! So you did lol, sorry buddy. Although I must say that I feel I made my point more eloquently and I expanded on your poxy little scribble :)

My one would be this -

All PL teams pays a proportion of its revenue every year to the FA to be directly invested into grass roots football. The money goes into a pot to set up more clubs and train more coaches etc etc. {Ed007's Note - In my opinion it is more to do with the fact English clubs place too much emphasis on physical training rather than football coaching. In the UK you are seen as an athlete first and footballer second. This leads to British players being technically inferior to others.
Look at Ozil as an example, I think he is a fantastic player, one of the best in his position but if he had been English he would have been made to bulk up and become a MF terrier harassing opposition players and breaking up play. There are plenty of coaches out there but it is what they are coaching the kids that is the problem. Coach them in the technical side of the game, allow them flourish and express themselves on the park and most importantly allow kids to enjoy playing at that age. The majority of kids at 13/14 shouldn't need much fitness training, general footballing training and playing matches should be enough to keep them fit, plus they have P.E. at school.
Some of the coaches at local youth games are appalling, they think they are Mourinho the way they carry-on. Sorry for the rant.}

The 5 points for fielding English players is a mental idea I'm sorry. It just can't work.
