What do you boys think of Stan Collymore on?

Love him. He says it exactly as he sees it and is not afraid to pull the rug from under the feet of the 'establishment'.

A lot of radio pundits waffle total crap, but he speaks his mind.

Am I his only fan?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your the only one I've ever heard of Dags, personally I think he's a publicity seeking desperado who is a wanna be has been if he ever had been in the first place

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2014 07:38:30
Not a fan than G62? Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I concur Dags. Although I agree with G62 to an extent especially when he touches on subjects like racism etc within our sport.

I think that's why I don't mind Gary Neville as a pundit because he says it like he see's it. His classic 'look at David Luiz's positioning, it looks like someone has a game console controller and is moving him around the pitch'. Classic Gaz!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sorry but none of those pundits speak their mind at all. They are all just playing a role to stir up as many idiots to phone in and whine as they can. Neville, for instance, has all those little clips spoonfed to him, he doesn't pick them all out. They are just a different type of actor on a different stage.}

Sometimes I think listening to stan collymore feels like a slap in the face. a women I remember once said the same thing

lol no I think he's good esp on his views with arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

I've always wondered that ED, but never known for sure. Do you know that as a fact and if so, do you think any of the pundits pick out their own clips and make their own points? Like Danny Murphy I've always thought of as reasonably intelligent and, for example, Pat Nevin writes some fairly decent analysing articles.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I know Danny well and he is not that bright, lovely lad but he is no genius. I know when my uncle worked as a pundit for the BBC, he was given what amounted to a script of things he had to fit into his analysis. It was a Man Utd game, and he had a list of things that had to be mentioned. It is no different now, they have roles to fill, and they do get some leeway, but they are still expected to fill certain roles. Hansen, for instance, ended up as a caricature of himself by the end of his time, as he got so set in his role as a critic of the defending.

What happens is that they have a team of analysts to pick out clips, then the producers will pick out a bunch to make the points. Sometimes the points are chosen by the pundit, sometimes by the producer, some are decided mutually, but the most a pundit will do is tell them a moment he saw something and ask them to find it. There simply isn't the time for them to do so during a game and in the short gap before they are expected to provide their punditry.

If it is done well, they all work together as a team to find the right clips to illustrate the points, but it is definitely a team effort, not the pundit himself deciding it.}

11 Dec 2014 18:29:36
Great insight Ed.

Thank you.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it did make me laugh, as Man Utd were playing foreign opposition and he was forced to say things along the lines of "we are all supporting United" and "obviously we all want to see United do well here" etc. It was just about the last thing he wanted was to see United do well, being as he is a Liverpool fan! But it was either that or forget working in TV again.}

11 Dec 2014 18:47:01
Ed,

Do they have to adhere to the same guidelines on radio, or are pundits allowed to be more expressive and opinionated?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they are encouraged to express opinions likely to cause people to phone in and complain or moan on social media. The more reaction, the better.}

You know you have made the top table of dogging, when a bloke comes up to you and says we had stan collymore here last week, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

That wouldn't be uncle Ray would it nephew Ed001? Intrigued :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2014 19:14:15
Fair play Ed, thank you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did I guess right Ed? Took me ages to piece all the clues together :-) I bet I've put 4 and 12 together and come up with -1, again :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers ED. Jermaine Jenas is an obvious one for me, he sounds like he is reading straight from a script out loud, word for word.

Could we win CL?

We could face Real, Athletico, Monaco, Bayern, Barca and somebody else lol.

Why can't we win it?
Its now a cup competition, albeit 2 legged.

On our day, granted they are few and far between, we can beat anybody, especially if the other team has an off day.

Dare we dare to dream?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The problem is when we have an off day it's a catastrophe.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we get Monaco, Athletico or Porto I'd be happy, if we get barca I'd be a lil worried, if we get Bayern or Madrid I think that's our champions league fun finished for this year! But hey maybe by the time the next round is played we will actually have our first team fit and be able to actually give them a game, one can hope!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags some common sense is needed here. Just ask yourself how we've been vs the top teams in the prem lately let alone three to four better teams in Madrid, barca, barren, athletico. and over two legs our chances get even slimmer

Agree0 Disagree0

With the way we have swept aside Galaturks and Burnley this season there no reason to believe we can't do the same to Real Bayern and Barca is there :-)
All The signs are there aren't they, maybe it's worth telling all the new learner drivers how you feel on this Dags, before they go out with you for the first time, at least that way they can make an informed choice before setting off

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2014 07:40:43
Lol at you lot.

Looks like I will be dreaming on my own :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not beating atletico can't see it. monaco would be a dream. porto next. anyone else we are out. sad but true

us and city will be praying for monaco

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we get a 'lesser' team such as Monaco or Porto and give them a battering. That way we will be full of confidence going into the round of 8. But I'm with you Dags, at the end of the day anything can happen in cup football. Just look at City, 4 points leading into the last 2 games and qualified. Unbelievable!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree van der gunner.

city got lucky with fixture list tho. playing bayern when there already through as winners. if bayern had to win both games I think they would of. they rested many players tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2014 18:49:52
The team I fear most is real, they have been a class above everyone this season. Let's be honest though, any team we face in the next round will be tough, no team comes through the group stages is going to be easy. If we draw Real then I'd be well up for seeing that fight, is the team they've got now better than the one we beat? Plus I'd love to try get tickets lol ;)

So am I right in saying that we are pretty much about to get Ozil, Walcott and Diaby back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2014 22:56:08
Walcott is pencilled in for boxing day match against QPR.

Ozil for Southampton game on 1st Jan.

Diaby is due back anytime between now and 2034.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, you're not!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2014 15:25:03
I think you got your numbers wrong on Diaby. Pretty sure I heard some time before 2043. Even Gnabry might be back before him at that rate

Strange game last night.

We saw the best and worst of Podolski. Wonderful full blooded display in the first half. Missing in the second but popped up for the goal. We need to see more of that and he will get the games he wants.

We saw the best of Ramsay and a major problem with Ramsay. 2 sublime goals an assist some great tackles, full blooded display. But a lot of greed before his second, trying the make space for himself 25 yards out rather than playing campbell/sanogo in at times. If he's back to last season form we're looking good. 4goals and 2 assists in the last three games.

We saw the best of Arsenal and a big problem with arsenal. Wonderful first half display with full blooded performance. There a poor side and 4 goals in par for the course against them I think but we have to beat what's in front of us and we did.

Second half we forgot totally the six unanswered goals would have got us top. I know niles/zelalem dropped our standard in the second half (not a slight on them just a case of two 17y/o coming in the CL) but we lost all edge and fight I think. Conceeded from a world class free but we didn't at all look like keeping a clean sheet in the second half. All in all we let up, we didn't have the killer champion instinct in the second half.

Joel Campbell, decent display but I think he showed his mediocrity.

Debuchy is going to be a massive boost to us and great he got as many minutes as he did. A full strength defence is on the horizon and will help us massively.

Need three points at the weekend plain and simple.

Thats about it. What do people think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2014 16:41:50
I think that Podolski suffered due to the changes forced on Arsenal - he wasn't able to take up the positions and be found - he was also suffering the same as Sanogo and Campbell - lack of MATCH practice. I remember God (aka Dennis bergkamp) saying that whever he was out of the team for more than a couple of weeks he would not be fully match sharp for about three games.
Think Campbell and Sanogo could be big improvement if we had stayed in League cup!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Dec 2014 16:54:26
I think we have to factor in the form of both Chamberlain and Ramsey playing together in the first half as they were immense.

The loss of Ramsey because of the tight hamstring at half time made a huge difference, as good as Zalelem is he isn't yet a driving forward force. We were also easily losing possession and Gala had somewhat of a go at us.

The biggest thing though was Sanogo back from injury and Podolski and Campbell not playing regularly meant they were pretty knackered 2nd half.

Had Ramsey stayed on the 6 goals would of been on without a doubt, I'm sure they knew what they needed but those factors didn't see it happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Taking ramsey and flamini off for two 17 year olds in central midfield so hardly surprising we lost our dominance - most emphasised when pod started dropping off to cdm to help us retain the ball. I agree with the decision totally though, definitely not worth risking either of them to go chasing 6-0, especially since dortmund could have won and made it all pointless. Pod, Sanogo and Campbell all had decent games but faded heavily second half due to lack of fitness. Debuchy looked knackered by the time he was subbed, hope he's fit enough for the weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Dec 2014 19:42:30
I think if you win 4-1 away from home, in an intimidating and hostile CL game, there's no need to dissect the result.

Would take that result/performance all day long.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said dags! Unless you're Adrian Durham of course, he was slating us for not winning 6-0 and said that ramsays goal was not as good as we all think

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Dec 2014 23:00:02
337,

Adrian Durham is .............

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Actually a nice guy.}

11 Dec 2014 00:41:48
That's what I meant Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Anything less than 3 points this weekend will be a travesty Sheeny. These up and down performances in the league just ain't cutting it for me. We either slump badly or get on a role. I personally need some clarity as to where we are headed this season. My heart can't take anymore of this year and it's not even the festive period yet!

Agree0 Disagree0

Durham is excellent at his job. I love his show. of course he's there to stir up people to make calls. if both presenters keep agreeing the show is dead lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently his wife is an arsenal supporter so he prob picks on us more to wind her up.

If I were him i'd be suspicious of my dinner!

Was Podolski playing so well last night to impress the competition.

Galatasaray have been suitors of Podoski recently.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2014 15:49:29
He wouldn't go to a sinking ship like them. He's doing it for his place here

Agree0 Disagree0

Commentators said Gala were after Campbell, wouldn't mind him being sold/loaned out as he doesn't look like challenging sanchez/walcott/ox/pod or even gnabry(wherever he is?)

I seriously think we as fans need to take a leaf out how other fans support their club no matter what, Look at Galatasray loosing 3-0, still all the noise could be heard from them, and what are they a strength of 30-40,000. Still holding thier banners high, same with Dortmund fans they are rock bottom in thier league, but do they hold wenger out banners,? No, they instead hold banners of how they will continue to support the club during this hard time. It is really silly and Atrocious what our own set of fans did last week, abusing wenger, fighting amongst themselves on that wannabe Arsenal TV, claude seriously.

Wenger or no Wenger I think the least we can do is stop fighting amongst ourselves, remember the times we sang we love you arsenal while loosing 8-2 to utd.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2014 15:54:08
Dortmund fans were booing and whistling the team/klopp a few weeks ago when they were losing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no they were not booing and whistling Klopp, he has still been the subject of plenty of love. They were creating huge banners asking him not to go and constantly flooding radio phone ins etc with messages of support.}

10 Dec 2014 15:56:49
Every one is going to come at this from a different angle and whilst I support Wenger and see what he is building there are those that don't.

They have had a gut full of Wenger and will use any single thing they can think of to put him down.

I don't agree with abuse, banners or want the team to lose but like I said opinions differ.

The main difference to me is that I can happily look at Wengers whole tenure at Arsenal, see what he built back in the first nine years and see what he's achieved bar trophies since then and what with money I believe he can go on and achieve again.

I think even the most die hard Wenger out fan can see that a top class DM and CB and we would be a whole new proposition.

What they don't believe is that he'll do it or have a clue what to do with them when he has.

I don't have my eyes closed and get as miserable as everyone when we lose and the big losses last season and losing to dross like United this season erk even the most patient of us.

I think the basis to challenge for everything is right there, add those two players along with replacements for others who need to be moved on and we'll have reasons to be cheerful.

Ed he in an interview a few weeks ago said

"I totally understand the criticism, that's just human. I also understand the whistles. They are normal.

But everyone who whistles must also question himself whether it's helpful to have a go at someone who just failed a test and tells him: You are too stupid to piss in the snow. But regardless of that, the situation feels disastrous. Nobody needs it."

It seems after this the support came out in spades after that and was around the time he made the Bayern comment

One thing I noticed last night was that Podolski and Ramsey were greedy (in a good way) for most of the goals there were players in the middle they could have passed to, but decided to shoot instead.

Ramsey and Podolski have two of the best finishes in our team, Hard and straight, pretty unstopable, AW admitted after that when Ramsey took the shot he thought it was the wrong thing to do. I personally want to see more of that, I hope that AW isn't trying to stop them doing that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2014 12:24:01
I think we all thought he took the wrong shot!

How wrong were we! My only worry is that he tries that every time now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Id be happy for him to try that every time even if one in three go in!

Agree0 Disagree0

Me too, we need to be braver and shoot from distance more often

Agree0 Disagree0

That bloke in the Arsenal No. 9 Shirt last night.

Who was he? And what has he done with the lazy, sluggish Lukas Podolski that I've become used to over the last 18 months?

What a performance. Let's hope he can keep that up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That was Lewis Podolski, Lucas's twin brother!

Lets just hope he did'nt do that last night because he is in the shop window for a move in jan. Would be very dissapointed if that's the reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

Podloski still dint have a good enough performance for 90 mins, apart from the 2 goals, I thought he dint offer anything much defensively other than first 30 mins of the game. I do agree that he has a killer foot, but we need him to offer more in a 90 min game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did, nt watch the whole game, but podolski can't really be fully match fit as he has'nt played so I wouldn't have expected him to even last the full 90, however we have the choice with him to either sell him, or play him and expect that he mostly attacks.

In all fairness his job should be scoring goals and the defender behind him should be aware of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hood

If L P plays like that for 90 minutes each week and score 2 goals a game, there can't be many complaints.

I thought I was harsh :)

Agree0 Disagree0

BG I don't mind the goals, the thing is in a PL game there needs to be more on offer, and helping the defense out. I saw on many occasions poor Hector Bellerin was left to do deal with 2 on 1 situations. Its the same on the other side, where I thought Campbell could have helped Debuchy more. don't get me wrong I love that left foot of his, but when we are playing bigger teams or slightly good teams like Swans, SH and West Ham. We need a little more. Perfect to bring him on with 20 mins to go I guess or start the game with him, get the goal, and take him off at 60

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Dec 2014 15:04:05
The reality of it is that Podolski has become a squad player because if Sanchez, Welbeck, Giroud and Walcott are up and running, who do you drop and where do you play him.

It is exactly or should I say was exactly the kind of performance you want from a squad player, to fill in, do well and maybe earn himself more game time.

He was doing a lot of cajoling and organising of the younger players but he cannot be a luxury player, he has to be on it for the full 90.

He earns big money, should work for it, speak to Wenger if he needs to but don't whine on social media.

Two great goals and he always has that in him.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Dec 2014 15:33:58
Hood

In fairness to Podolski, even if it is for 30 minutes or so, that's more defensive work than he's done in the last 18 months. That alone makes his performance impressive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly I agree with Red Dog lol

Agree0 Disagree0

He clearly still isn't fully fit so wasn't surprised he faded a lot second half, but was clearly trying. Personally I think the main issue with Pods is he plays best as a 2nd striker where as we favour playing 1 striker with 2 wingers who have to track back. Would definitely like to see him used more as a 2nd striker in a 442 when we need to score.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we get Real Madrid in next round.

They are struggling for form at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha amazing form, wouldn't mind seeing the best player ever rocking up to the emirates once more

monaco we need dags by far the worse team there and there left back may be off to man city

Agree0 Disagree0

A Madrid wouldn't be a bad draw for us either

Agree0 Disagree0

I would pick any accept for Madrid, Bayern and Barca. I don't even mind PSG. Ath Madrid, Proto, Monaco, Leverkusen, all can come.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Dec 2014 16:03:13

Still a good prediction on your part mate.

Respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont get me wrong i'm not joining the AW out brigade yet, but I feel last nights performance was purely down to the players wanting to win, they went against pur normal 'tippy tappy' sexy football and just played to their strengths.

Well done to the boys!

we need to draw monaco to have a chance to go through again. porto wouldn't be easy but there my second pick. anyone else though and I think we are ou.t

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Does it matter who we play? eventually you have to play a tough team.

just hope they can turn the epl season around to finish top 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it does. if we play real and lose 4n-5nill both legs that would be a major blow to confidence. happend when bayern did us

id take monaco porto now and see how we go after that. heavy defeat in last 16 is a major blow I feel

Hey guys, chelsea fan here.

Starting off, Aaron Ramsey. His technique of hitting the ball is up there with the best. He's hit more than a couple if worldies, if he can pick up the form if last year, you have quite a magnificent player.

Your keepers, while Snesesny (god knows how to spell the name) and ospiba are quite good, they're not top players. You guys need to go all out for Cech imo. Second best keeper in league, and needs to be at a top club (you are a top club apart from wenger settling on mediocrity).

Defense your defense is a major problem. Kos is the only one who I think is good enough, While Per has brilliant passion and is not bad, he's way too slow to play your high line. Secondly, who is your fourth choice centre back? Why is your backup fullbacks your back up centre backs? Shocking stuff.

Midfeild. Time to cut it for Wilshere, if he's happy with rotational role, good on him. You need that midfeild enforcer. William Carvahlo would be good, Javi Martinez another.

Wing/AM. Why doesn't Pod get games? Direct and a rocket left foot, why have a player on 100 k a week on the bench constantly?

Forwards. While I like Olly Giroud, and think Welbeck isn't bad, they're simply not good enough.

Ins =
Cech
Stones
(Good backup fullbacks, Monreal isn't good enough and chambers isn't a full back)
William Carvahlo or Javi Martinez
Striker = hmm, while I like bony, he lacks mobility and pace, maybe lacazette, Cavani if you can get him cheap, I don't know? Who else is out there?

Thanks guys, just a little post stating what I think you guys should do.

Hope you're doing Well Dagenham and co

Oh and I forgot, get a new manager in! And spend some freaking money, Ancelotti or Klopp would be special!

Morning Aron,

Bleeding cheek of these chavs, lol.

To be fair, your assessment is spot on.

Would take Cahill and Matic off you any day mate, they would make a huge difference to our team.

Lol :P.

And take Cahill if you want, we will take Sanchez, we need a good right winger :) and back off with matic!

Good luck for rest of the season

Excellent performance & result.
I would like to see us use Podolski more, to give other players a rest. I am still not sure about Campbell and Sanogo clearly needs to mature as a player.
It was great to see the three youngsters come on and Zelalem looks to be a huge talent. His touch and passing are supreme. He just needs to strenghthen up for the rigours of first team football.
We need to carry on the good work at the weekend against Newcastle.
Lets get behind Wenger and the team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Zelalem insane talent. i'd like to of seen crowley get a game also. both will be top players

They ran out of Thyme.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - as if I wasn't in enough pain, you add this to it! Thanks Dags....}

I was well impressed with Basle to be honest, they have solid game plan and keep the ball pretty well. They may not have the star players but are a well oiled team by the
looks of it and will be no pushovers in next round that is for sure

Credit to the boys and a lot of credit to Wenger.

4-1 win good attacking performance against a pretty poor side for champions league standard to be honest.

Ramsey and Podolski start performers.

What a goal from Ramsey could well be the goal of the competition already. Great technique to hit the ball flat and hard like that as he was almost side on to the goal at 30 yards out. He will not score a better one than that.

I Just don't understand why Podolski does not get more game time he is direct and purposeful and always makes something happen. With that left foot of his always a danger.

For some reason Wenger seems to think he does not fit in with the tika taka passing we do around the box too much. Yes he may not be as slick passing wise as the other forwards but he offers something different and that is what we need in the side too.

4-1

Considering the side we had out, an excellent result.

Just so frustrating how they can keep the ball so well tonight compared to Saturday.

Particular congrats to podolski, don't get Wenger, LP is an excellent player and always a threat

Sheeny you clearly don't pay attention.

That only applies to the PL

Please do better next time

Sheeny,

Surely you've learnt by now that whatever Banbury says is not actually what he means. You also have to bear in mind he is the self proclaimed font of all footballing knowledge.
