My thoughts on the United game:

It was a terrible game. Both teams played so defensive, especially Utd in the 2nd Half. We didn't deserve to lose, and they didn't deserve to win. Neither team created many chances. Cannot remember either keeping making a good save.

Ask yourselves this. Out of the 3 tough games we just played. Which one would you have rather lost. It was essential we beat Dortmund, same goes for Liverpool. We are still top of the league and I think we will win our next 4 games.

Podolski and Walcott back after this break, both so sorely missed.

Peace

As seen in the article ctg, if you didn't know the score you would think Manchester United won 5 - 0 without arsenal getting the ball. Also, arsenal beat dortmund, spurs and Liverpool yet apparently are not contenders. Yet now Manchester United will apparently be champs haha. At least the van persies side kick will be off soon.

arsenal will still win the league.

saints will be top 8 but will have to have a brilliant second half of season to get top 6. We are bridging the gap though with a philosophy of young English talent. That is something to be admired. Shaw, clyne, ward prowse and a couple others are the future of england

For me, southampton are the team of the season so far

EDS, Any chance of a poll on how many goals Bendtner will get by the end of the season- bearing in mind that between now and January he is likely to get a few games and also whilst he is also a complete ar5e, he is actually getting a bit fitter- had he made the right choice (50/50) he woulda had a shoo in on Saturday.

I'm thinking he may get 4 or 5! {Ed027's Note - I think with Theo and Poldi on the way back, he wont be playing much at all, plus im told he will be shifted in Jan

Ba
Lewandowski
Benzema
Hernandez

Lew anytime but Benzema or Hernandez will make me a happy gooner. Not too keen on Ba

Agree0 Disagree0

Ba is a risk. Lewandowski is good pal with schez so you never know!? Let's hope poldolski is fit again soon as he is quality

Well I'm stoked after such a great start, I also have little doubt had we fielded the same team that played Dortmund the result would have been different.

Last time we played Arteta and Flamini it put Rambo on the wing and we didn't play well and only got a draw against West Brom.

Rambo on the wing should strictly be a thing of the past, he did his time there and totally deserves his slot in centre midfield.

I think it took away exactly what we needed to keep in place against United.

I care that we lost but truly don't believe come the final mix that United will be our main contenders.

That's not being bitter toward United but they, even in victory are still in a poor vein of form with little creativity.

So I think we are in for good things with plenty of a long season left and are still at the top with a 2 point lead and a healthy goal difference.

Most importantly our first 11's confidence remains intact.

Did anyone read Steven howards column in the sun. Didn't watch the game but cringed after the first paragraph. Why are papers so pro united? No mention of the illnesses and injuries arsenal have and how the just beat dortmund who I believe are a better team of players and individuals that united. Also beat Liverpool. Manchester United lost to lesser teams than arsenal and its clear anyone can beat anyone, but arsenal have been the most consistent. Also, missed the second half but heard they played 11 men behind the ball. Is this true? Apparently their the champs this year already. 5 points behind I thought.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So pro United? Really? This is news to me? Remind me how much great press u lot have had over the last 3 months(deserved aswel)?
Come on pal!
We have been getting pelters all season(rightly so sometimes) but to claim the media are pro united is laughable! They are anything but that!

Keep it that way siant mate, the more they knock us the harder we will fight

I haven't read that pepper since they admitted making up such heartless callous lies about the Liverpool fans at Hillsborough.
I stopped buying it years ago because it and its journalists were full of bias one way or another but now refuse to touch it in cafes takeaways or any where else.
Sorry to rant but just feel for those fans who were lied about at such a tragic time in order to make money, they should have gone when the other one was shut

I see on the site that people are having a go at the world's greatest striker. Which other team can field such a great (self-proclaimed) sub, he can easily walk straight into such teams as Epping Forest Rangers or Dudley Town Reserves, so we are lucky to hold on to him! Sorry, must go, I banged my head earlier and am starting to talk rubbish and believe what I say!

The table at the moment really does show how important the win away at Swansea and point at West brom were, the big head to head matches are more important in terms of prestige but its not slipping up in other games that determines ours and all other challengers fates more.

We have 8 Pl games left to play in 2013 and I think 20 points from them is doable, its a big ask I admit but I guess its the sort of thing that will separate the champions from the other contenders come may.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very true G62. Pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and go on another kick-ass unbeaten run.

The utd fans say on their page yesterday was their best performance of the season, I think we all agree it was our worst? And we lost 1 0 at Old Trafford. Reasons to be cheerful No.78

I try never to post straight after a game because my emotions are running high and I'd just chat rubbish. So now I'm calm I'll comment.

If you look at the big picture to play liverpool, Dortmund and Manchester United and get six points is a good week and its a lot to ask from our players who haven't had a chance to be rested because of injuries. Throw in the fact we lost our defensive organiser in mertesacker and our ball of energy in rosicky the morning of the game it was always going to take a lot to get something from the game. Oh one thing that made wanna explode is when we brought on bendtner he is so ineffective it hurts.

Don't be negative be positive look forward to bouncing back against southampton. COYG!

Bendtner. What in the world are we doing with this joker. All I can think of is that Arsene is playing him to put him in the shop window so to speak. First touch he had on Sunday and he passed the ball to Man Utd! after that I can't remember him doing anything I think we were playing with 10 men as he might aswell not be there. I have honestly seen players in the Conference league that would wipe the floor with him. He is an embarrassment to our club, sorry.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

GOLDBOY

We have no one else, you could put Walcott or Podolski up there but as we know they are injured

Agree0 Disagree0

He is an embarrassment to football.

Agree0 Disagree0

What shop window would that be then, Lidl, Aldi or Poundland?

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he good enough for Arsenal? No. But he is still a player who has scored 45 goals for us, so I think he deserves a bit more respect than he is getting on here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clewis. Hello mate. He may have played 45 games for Arsenal, but if you and I had been at Arsenal the amount of time he has we would have got 45 games too. I'm not going to back him up just because he is an Arsenal player the fact is he is absolutely embarrassing. I really don't understand how he is a Premiership player, don't get it at all. Neither do a few friends of mine that played in the Championship and in league 1 so that's saying something!

Agree0 Disagree0

JUICER. Nice one! Well let's get it right he wouldn't get in Harrods or Selfridges shop window would he? LOL.

Of all the big clubs we have properly the thinnest squad and in those short numbers we have had properly the heaviest injury list, yet we top both PL and CL tables.

Walcott Wilshere Poldolski Rosicky Mertesacker should all be available after the break and Ox joining them soon after.

This will give us chance to rest players when we have 3 games in a week so all can be at their best in every game they play.

Walcott can give Giroud a break in some games which would in turn give us a slightly different option in games when we need it.

Yesterday was a disappointment but even still what a great season we're having so far? And the long range forecast is for better to come,
Yup we've had worse starts to a season for sure

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post G62. I honestly think we can beat soton, hull, everton and cardiff and still remain top of the tree.

Mert and rosicky were vital. once jack came on the direct play he brought changed the dynamics.

man utd had chances but they were pegged back at home for large periods.

yes they won the game, but its only because we didn't show up, maybe due to tiredness. who knows.

and our finishing was horrible. we had chance after chance just begging to be tucked in.

bendtner was again MOTM. did nothing.

Hehe 1404 that's blooming brilliant, love it

Lets not panic. We are top having obtained 3 points from difficult matches against Liverpool & Man U, with a superb away win in the CL sandwiched in between. Mertesacker & Rosicky had an enforced break due to illness and some players will be rested during the international break, if they are not selected. Walcott will hopefully be back after the break and Podolski & the Ox will hopefully be back in December. If we had to lose a match it was a good weekend to do it, when rivals Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham & Everton all dropped points. After the break our rivals have matches coming up against each other, which means some points must be dropped. What yesterday confirmed is that we need to buy a 4th centre back, who must be right sided and tall. Vermaelen is ideal cover for Koscielny, but we lacked a tall dominant CB, hence a headed goal from a corner. We also need a quality striker, as Bendtner has been absolutely useless. I would like to see us top at the end of December and in the knockout stages of the CL. We should have all injured players, bar Abu Diaby back & with two top quality January signings, we will be in a great position, fpr the second half of the season.
