Sagna has just confirmed the inevitable, he is leaving Arsenal.

Heisenbergkamp

{Ed002's Note - Which is why Arsenal have been in discussions over a right back. This should not be a shock.}

1.) 12 Jun 2014 18:21:45
well we all new that?

Ed - is it aurier/abate/uchida then?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal have been talking to Toulouse about Aurier.}

Footage has been released of Pique and Del Bosque talking about Cesc moving to an unnamed team for €33 million, unaware that the microphones are picking up their conversation. Here is a translation of what they said;
Pique: Defend Cesc a bit.
[Camera Cuts and returns to Pique and Del Bosque]
Pique: He has told me it is done, He has told me it is done.
Bosque: Him?
Pique: He is going, €33 Million, he told me.
Del Bosque: The president isn't going to win with this disappointment. It's quite a mess you're going to have on your hands.
Pique: No. No, he said, He's going crazy, poor guy.

It's as close a translation I could make using my own Spanish and reading what others have translated, some of what they say doesn't literally translate into English. I'm hoping if this is true and gets enough coverage, Cesc and Barcelona will have to come out in the open and clear this up, hopefully putting an end to this transfer saga.

Some people are also reporting that €33 Million works out at around £25/26 million the amount some believe to be the buy back clause we had the contract. Though this is purely speculation but I though I'd include it as a glimmer of hope, even though Chelsea and United have been strongly linked with him recently. Apologies if this has been submitted twice.

Heisenbergkamp

1.) Just watched this, any idea on the most likely club eds? :)

{Ed025's Note - chelsea really want him i hear G1..

2.) God, I do hope that he doesn't go to Chelsea!

Has anyone else seen the footage of Pique telling Del Bosque that Fabregas told him that he is leaving Barcelona, for €33 million no mention to what team though. The two were in conversation before giving a press conference unaware that the microphone was picking up what they were saying. If what Pique has said is true, then hopefully him leaking this information will force Cesc and Barcelona to come out in the open and put an end to this saga.

Heisenbergkamp

1.) Really will not be able to see him put on a Chelsea kit. I hope to god we buy him

Reports from Germany that Joesph Drmic will join Leverkusen for €6m. Got to admire his scoring record 17 goals from an under 21 striker in a team that just got relegated.

A player we were linked with in the past Ginter, being reported to being closing in on a move to Dortmund. Who also look likely to sign Adrian Ramos and maybe Immobile who I remember some on here were wondering if we were interested in after his impressive 22 goals this season in the Serie A

Heisenbergkamp

1.) Good news that atleast they are moving somewhere.

Being reported Johan Djourou has joined Hamburg on a permanent deal after they activated the buy-out clause in his loan deal.

Heisenbergkamp

1.) But who will do the Djourou flick for us now?!

Hey, Ed do Arsenal hold an interest in Ibrahim Sangare? He was one of the few bright sparks in a poor Toulouse side.

In my opinion he's the type of player Arsenal should be looking at along with the likes of Alex Disasi, Malang Sarr or even Saliba's partner in crime Forfana. While I'd be happy with Partey I'd rather someone like Sangare singed who is younger and cheaper and will age with the rest of the squad. I think these types of signings will serve us better, far less financial strain on the club, they have plenty of scope to develop and resale value, which is key and something we've been really poor at. I personally think a summer where we look for value in an effected market and go for players like Sarr, Sangare or even Benrahma and Buendia for attacking options would make us more competitive in all aspects both now and in the future. I'm not going to complain if we do sign Partey or Coutinho but just my thoughts.

Also are there any books you'd recommend for fans who want to learn more about the footballs behind the scenes, transfers, agents etc and learn more about how football as a whole works. Thanks :)

Heisenbergkamp

{Ed002's Note - No Arsenal are looking to others and not IS. I know of no such books I am afraid.}

The two players I feel we really need to make huge attempts to sign are Balotelli and Khedira. But if there is any truth to the rumours that Atletico Madrid are interested in Cazorla, they were last year as well, would anyone else be tempted to cash in on him and make an attempt to get Griezmann? Cazorla has been a great servant to the club, and I would only want him to be moved on if we replaced him with a similar player, which I feel Griezmann is much like Cazorla he is able to play anywhere behind the striker and is only 23 rather than Cazorla who is 29. What does everyone else think, would you cash in on the interest that there maybe around Cazorla? Or do we need to hold what we have and address the more pressing issues in the squas, CF, CDM and RB?

Heisenbergkamp

1.) I'd personally get rid. He wants out, is starting to rock the boat a little to. Get rid and get someone who wants to play no matter where he plays. Greizman would be a great choice if he's available.

2.) Balotelli yes please. I would prefer Pogba to Khedira.
If we can get £16m for Cazorla & replace him with Valbuena for less, I would be happy.

Putting aside our feelings towards him and the circumstance under which he left, you cannot deny the quality Van Persie has, and for me that is what is missing from the arsenal attack. Giroud couldn't have scored any of the goals RVP did or take any of the chances he had. He does more than just score he is a complete player and that is what we need to add, Mandzukic, Remy and Bony can't add anything different to what Giroud has in terms of quality. That is why for me we need to move mountains to get Balotelli, I honestly believe he can give us what RVP did, he can score wonder goals, he has level on skill when on the ball others mentioned don't, he can pick a pass and he's got a turn of pace. He isn't the finished article he needs to up his work rate, but I think Wenger could get the best out of him, he's silly antics are over exaggerated as the press know it will make them money. Martinez and Benzema could also improve our forward line though I think financially they might cost more than they are worth.

Imagine though if Ozil and Ramsey had been playing with Van Persie not Giroud, we could of got a huge number of goals and perhaps taken some of our chances during key games. Robben's performance tonight also highlighted the impact a top winger can have on a team.

Heisenbergkamp

1.) Agree we need to replace Van Persie properly, and Remy and Morata aren't good enough to do that. but not sure if Balotelli is the man to do that? Really can't make my mind up if he would be worth it or not.

2.) The only striker in world football with same amount of sheer power, strength and finishing attributes as RVP is Cavani in my opinion.

There is no chance we will pay what PSG would want for him and there is no chance we would match his wage demands.

I'd love to have RVP back. I'm sure we are all still ticked off about how left and who he signed for and the things he said after leaving but if he scored us the goals to bring us the title I'm sure those feelings would begin to fade.

3.) It's hard to disagree with the above. RVP was fantastic, as was Robben and there's a real risk both will be at United next season. The need to replace him is overwhelming. Giroud is a good player but can't be expected to be RVP or an Aguerro.

Sadly I tend to agree that all the logical names we might get don't add anything more than Giroud gives us beyond cover. Our midfield, if we ever sign a new Gilberto or Vieira looks great, but I agree Ozil minus a world class striker, or even Theo, looks a little wasted.

So what can we do? Cavani is a pipe dream madder than Suarez was. Balotelli is talented but feels far too like Anelka for my liking. Morata? Who knows but it would be a major risk, Spain haven't produced a naturally talented striker since Torres and look what happened to him. Benzema flatters to deceive and I don't see him as be in the same class as RVP at his best.

So? Honestly I have no idea. Maybe the reality is we can't address it and we are better off facing up to that and spending our time and effort on major strengthening to other areas. I've said it once and I'll say it again by Carvalho and a world class defender. Campbell (if he gets a permit), a returning Vela, Walcott, and Giroud would be as good as we might get and pretty good all things considered up front.

Looking at Cesc in a Chelsea shirt makes me sick, I posted before I hoped we resigned him we didn't, but the fact is he wanted to leave and left us when he was hitting is peak, to go back to Barcelona where it didn't go as well as planned, Wenger the person he described as a second father telling him he didn't want him back probably hurt more than any boos will. I am sick of other teams signing our old players;

Chelsea; Cole & Cesc. Man Utd; RVP.
Man City; Nasri, Clichy & Sagna (Also had Vieira, Adebayor and Toure)

I want us to sign Balotelli for two reasons;
1) He is a top quality striker, with bags of talent and is only 23, I'm sure Wenger can keep him under control, though his exploits are exaggerated after the press saw the money in them.
2) He's ex City and is still well liked by their fans, be nice to sign someones ex player then enjoy him during his peak.

If we add Marshall, Aurier, Khedira, Vela and Balotelli, that would be incredible yet possible and we could challenge for the league, personally though I see Remy over Balotelli which is gutting.

{Ed002's Note - Players are simply transient employees of the club - you should wish them well when the leave and applaud them when they return. It is astonishing that the fans of only a few clubs want to spew hate on returning players. And unfortunately it seems Arsenal are one.}

1.) I fail to understand how my post spews hatred? I made no rude remarks toward Fabregas, just stated my frustration at seeing our rivals now have our ex Captain, and that I'm tired of our better players leaving to join our rivals. That is a fair point not a bad thing if you want to do well then you need keep hold of your better players. Of the list I mentioned the only players I really dislike in footballing terms, out of those who left were Cole and RVP and it was for the way the went about it, one disrespecting the club with the statement he made, the other talking about almost crashing his car when he heard the money we were willing to offer him. I also fail to understand how wanting to sign Balotelli because I'd like other teams to be in our shoes for once, which I clearly state was not the sole or main reason I wanted him signed is a bad thing. I actually discouraged the booing of Fabregas with my comments about Wenger choosing not to sign him, and if you look at my posting history you can clearly see I have no interest in spewing hatred. The nature of football dictates that fans will be unhappy with players joining their rivals that is part and parcel of the game, it would be foolish not to expect it, though I do admit some fans can take it too far and to personal. But rather than attach the idea of hatemongering to my post surely a more sensible idea would of been to post on the front page of the arsenal section of this site saying, Fabregas has joined Chelsea we understand that some maybe frustrated by this but can we keep this site clean, and watch what we post and the language we use when commenting on this subject. Especially when I have no history of this, causing trouble or insulting eds.

{Ed002's Note - I have deleted numerous vile posts of hatred aimed at the kid. Manchester City fans won't give a damn if Balotelli joins Arsenal.}

2.) United fan here. To be fair Ed, Arsenal have suffered incomparably in this respect in regards to sheer numbers of talented ex players now playing for direct rivals.No club's fans would accept that without at least a vent on an online forum.

These may seem like silly questions but it's something I've always thought about and wondered if an Ed had Ed002 in particular in mind could clear them up for me.

1) How does the process of transfer listing a player work? Does the club alert other clubs that they are looking to sell a player, or is the player and their agent are told they are being listed and then they have to take the initiative in finding a new club?

2) What is the currency of football, the papers always give nice rounded of figures in £s but as most of Europe use the euro I always though that would be the currency use during the transfer process.

3) How do players and their agents become aware of interest other clubs may have in them and get an idea of the kind of contract that could get without violating the rules?

4) If a club is interested in signing a player how do they go about finding out if the player would be interested in joining them, and then brokering a deal? Do they simply ring the club a player is at and say we are interested in buying x how much will that cost?

Thanks in advance for any answers to these questions.

Heisenbergkamp

{Ed002's Note - (1) In some countries there is. Clubs will say that they are willing to listen to offers and agents will hawk players around - but most often enquires come from clubs via agents or direct whether a player is available or not. A list is maintained of all out of contract and released players. (2) Except for intra-UK transfers, euro is the main currency. South America used to always use US$ but the largest market, Brazil, has switch to euro. (3) Clubs and agents talk to each other - sometimes with intermediaries. (4) Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

Is this a joke? Fabianski is a good keeper, but he couldn't get into our starting 11 let alone Barcelona. They've also announced the signing of Ter Stegen who is one of the best young keepers. Seriously wow.
