Hi Eds any rumour on a Centre back?
you're saying that the priority is a goalscorer, for me the best way to improve the team is to take a top class defender like Hummels or a big prospect like Rugani, Ginter...
We have a lot of great finishers(Alexis, Giroud, Theo plus the attacking midfielders) and a lack of good defenders.
Gabriel could improve and Koscielny has good qualities mixed to bad decisions but for me is not safe ti have Kos and Mertesacker in the starting 11.
Especially the german is really too slow and with no technique.
I respect him because he's really a gunner but i think we should move on.

{Ed001's Note - Chambers is intended to be a centre back in the long term, he will be the extra centre half. So it is not seen as the priority right now. Unless someone top class pops up as available, it is unlikely a first team centre back will come in.}

Sorry but I disagree. Mert is a good cb and people are unneccessarly hard on him. There is a big difference between finisher and striker, look at our games verses Swansea and Sunderland. You need that pure goal scorer. Walcott is a good player but who knows if he can last the whole season. Gabriel and chambers are good prospects for our defence and buying another will just mean their development get halted.

Agree completely on BFG

He gets slagged off for a lack of pace but his strengths are in his positional sense and his reading of the game. He may not be the greatest but he's way above average.

Bobby Moore- couldn't run, couldn't tackle, no pace but still the best English centre back ever

Not saying BFG is in Bobby Moores class but pace isn't everything

With Chambers, Kos, Gabriel and BFG I'm not too worried about CB.

I'd settle for an upgrade in goal (but not Cech if it costs us Walcott or Ox), another Cdm and the icing would be an out and out goal scorer

Höwedes, Manolas, Agger and Bonucci (the italian is really poor in a 4 men defending line).
Is our next CB in the list above or it will be a mr. X?

Debuchy is already in my heart, what a crosser/fighter!

Hi Eds,
Any truth about the Lascelles saga?
and he is a CB or a difensive mid?

It-Gooner

{Ed001's Note - he is a centre back and Arsenal have had a long standing interest, had him watched numerous times over the last few years. That is as far as it has gone though, unless something has changed today.}

In Italy is reported on sky-sports that today Alessandro Lucci (Mirko Vucinic's agent) will fly to London to discuss with Arsenal. If AW will offer cash there is the concrete possibility to see this talented striker to the emirates. Personally I think that this guy could be a good attacking option, he's not a goal-machine but he can play for the team like Giroud and he is pure class.

It-Gooner

1.) Great link up play and is clinical when he has his chances

2.) I don't rate Vucinic as high as berbatov, and berba would cost a fraction of vucinic, so I don't understand why wenger will consider a more expensive stop gap solution, makes no sense.

vucinic is neither going to take giroud's spot, and I don't see how a player like vucinic will win us a title, he is not exactly prolific.

i would be disappointed in wenger, i'd rather he not buy anyone, rather then spend silly money on a striker who will stop us from buying a world class striker in the summer.

Draxler is the only player that interests me, long term project and you know he is going to be world class.

Arteta, Rosicky, Cazorla, Flamini, have at best another 2-3 years with Arsenal.

the likes of wilshere, ramsey, gnabry, walcott, ozil will make up the midfield of the team.

miyachi has not made the grade, and it looks like he will be off soon with Dench.

the likes of Zelalem, and dan crowley are waiting in the wings to come in and add more quality.

i'm not exactly sure if Draxler is a necessity, however you can never have enough of world class.

3.) The way a see it juve are willing to sell cause he ain't good enough and ain't going to improve so doubt he'sthe man to push is over the line to the title

4.) Vucinic is probably the slowest attacker in Europe. My friend is a passionate juventino and he said to me that Vucinic wouldn't be much better than Bendtner for us. I really hope this transfer doesn't happen, and if it does at least let it be on loan.

5.) Wenger should not know less than all of us. So if he is really that bad, Wenger would not get him in squad. But if he has quality, he can be a short-term soln

Hi everyone, i'm an italian Gooner and I follow our beloved Gunners everytime I can, today in Italy several media have reported that Arsenal is interested in Juventus FC Sebastian Giovinco, I know quite well and I can tell that he could be a great replace for Theo, and that the EPL would be suitable for his style, any news about the situation?

Heard in Italy that Dybala will definitely be an Arsenal player...
Any truth? He's really impressing, a new Agüero

It-Gooner

1.) It does look like this could happen. promising player and he offers something different i feel. i'm all for this.

welbeck can finally rejoin sunderland

2.) With players like Benzema, Cavani, Pedro, pogba, Isco, bale and other big names possibly on the move or likely to be targeted by everyone, Wenger will not just settle for dybala.

i think he's more a backup plan, but considering the money he is going to cost and the fact he has preferenced man city and barcelona ( probably looking for a paycheque) i see it unlikely that we will go for this player.

According to RMC Sport PSG has given to Adrien Rabiot the permission to discuss with Arsenal.
I don't if he's ready for the premier league yet, but he's certainly a solid prospect.
Could you Eds confirm this rumour?

It-Gooner

{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}

1.) 17 Aug 2014 16:15:28
I've never seen him play but looked him up. 25 league apps for PSG last year and 6 Champs league. Not sure how many were subs or not but for a CDM at 19y/o that's solid experience.

As reported on AFC website, David Ospina is officially a Gunner.

Regarding the DM position: W.Carvalho or Khedira? personally I pick the first one, he reminds me Patrick Vieira.

I've also just read on tuttomercatoweb (a reliable italian transfers rumours site) that we're close to sign Douglas Costa from Shaktar Donetsk for 20/25 M € _ Eds any truth in it?

It-Gooner

1.) TMW reliable?! They're amazing with interviews and such, especially Juve related. but transfer rumour wise, they're crap.

Hi everyone, i'm still excited about Sanchez move. I watched him for long time during his experience with U.S. Udinese in Italy. I think that he will fit perfectly the Premier League and Wenger's football credo.
I also hope that the Boss will bring to us a really good DM(Khedira, Bender or an equal one). But to compete at all levels I think that we need a top signing also in defense, I love Per's determination and Laurent's anticipation, but I think is not enough.
For me we need guys like Hummels, Barzagli, Benatia or Varane.
Ginter and the others are decent players but not top players

According to all the italian media Mirko Vucinic is going to Inter Milan due to an exchange with Juventus with Fredy Guarin, the agent of Vucinic has deleted his flight to London :(

It-Gooner

1.) Thats a sigh of relief.
