First time proper poster, followed site for a good 2 years.
Great result today,
But I do not buy in to this love in with Arteta, especially the agreement it's ok for him to be club captain.
He looked okay today against a very average city performance, and honestly, Jack and Rambo did the donkey work, when he did get brave and offensive and tried his predictable cruyff turn inside, he lost the ball, I respect him as a professional, but if he is our captain and leader in the middle, we will get found out against stronger, fitter and quicker players.
Apologies if negative, but would Arteta start for the top 7 or 8 EPL Teams? I don't think so.
Wenger needs to replace promptly!

1.) I am all for the feel good factor, I was last one singing in the pub, but I just sense if trust is put in Arteta to lead us, we will come undone.
I would rather Flamini as DM, but we badly need a true DM to replace Arteta, giving him captaincy will lead to false hope that Mikel can do a ob for us.

Was a great team performance, but we still need to be realistic about our intentions this season. We can't get clouded by one good performance.
Yaya Toure is one of the best CM's in the world, but was invisible today, doesn't mean he is trash. We can't be do the same with Arteta and believe he is right to captain this team, he has lost 2yds of pace and 2 seconds of time in his head.
True DM is what we need to really have a chance to win the EPL.

6.) Mate I can't fault a word of that, love Arteta as a very good and loyal bloke but as our main DM? Sorry he wasn't up to it last season and year on ain't going to do him or us any favours at this stage of his career. We need a better purpose built DM player to fight the big fires and Mikel can still contribute greatly but not as our main man
7.) Season/cup etc on the line and we get a penalty, who gets the spot. Arteta will be the first choice every time because he has a spine. That my friends is one of many reasons he is our captain. Trust he in AW he knows.

Welcome motion. I'm with you. I think a dude of great PL experience I wouldn't want him to be sold because he would be great backup for a younger model. DM is consistently a problem for us. It needs to be addressed this year or I fear we'll be saying the same old old at the end of the season

Its like buying a brand new Bugatti and then have it fail 2 MOT's and have to face the facts it will never perform the same again and is no longer you're 1st choice ride, yet you still manage to sell it on for more than you paid for it.
You can now go out and purchase a new and improved more reliable model that will make you feel so much better.
