Hi Ed,
Does this mean no new business until the manager is sorted?

Thanks!

{Ed001's Note - the whole point of the new backroom staff was to take over transfers etc.}

Any idea who eds.

{Ed002's Note - What?}

I think he’s asking what players are arsenal interested in, but not too sure ed.

The backroom staff are mislinstat and sanalhi Steven.

Yeah sorry that's what I meant any idea on which players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Something like this:
Bernt Leno (GK) - Bayern may yet be interested and has resisted moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past. Napoli also see him as first choice. If he can't be first choice with Champions League football then he would likely not consider a move. First pick for SM at Arsenal.
Timo Horn (GK) - may be a viable option.
Jan Oblak (GK) - circumstances are such that there could be significant interest from elsewhere if he were to be available, and price a major stumbling block.
Alban Lafont (GK) - another player, like Sule, that Arsenal have made no secret of their long-term interest but have not committed at all.
Keylor Navas (GK) - Liverpool are keen as well.
Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK) - not going to happen.

Alvaro Odriozola (RWB) - if Bellerin were to leave - but won't want to leave Spain just yet.
Ryan Fredericks (RB) – watched a couple of times but a move is unlikely.

Chris Smalling (CB) - interest may leave with AW, but being English gives him an advantage. Harry Maguire might be a better solution.
Medhi Benatia (CB) - first choice in January.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos (CB) – Dortmund are trying to fend off interest but if Juventus were to win out it will free up Rugani.
Daniele Rugani (CB) – a bit of a wildcard but has been looked at by Arsenal.

Fabinho (DM/RB) - I expect interest to leave with Wenger, but he will be available.
Abdoulaye Doucoure (M) – another viable option, not as defensive as perhaps preferred but capable of providing a good solution.
Julian Weigl (DM) – interest from elsewhere will win out.
Wilfred Ndidi (DM) Wenger is keen apparently, but I am not sure that is shared by others.

Max Meyer (CM) - I think there is a very good chance that something can be done.
Tanguy Ndombele (CM) – has been watched several times by one senior scout who tells me that Arsenal want him - but I expect Lyon to take up their option.
Maycon (CM) - won't happen, he is heading elsewhere.
Jean-Michael Seri (CM) – still not interested in Arsenal and discussions are in hand with another side.

Nabil Fekir (AM) - it will be difficult because of his club, but something is possible.
Bernard (AM/LW) alternative to Fekir, but Inter (whose interest runs hot and cold) may provide a viable alternative to Arsenal for the player.
Oguzhan Ozyakup (AM) - Arsenal want to bring him back but it won’t happen.

Riyad Mahrez (RW) - if he moves it will probably not be to Arsenal.
Malcom (RW) - I am doubtful he would move to Arsenal unless two other clubs step away.
Andrija Zivkovic (RW) - maybe priced out of a move.

Ademola Lookman (LW) - has been watched at RBL.

Timo Werner (S) – not going to happen.}

Thanks ed, do you think that the managerial position will be sorted before the end of the season?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is every chance but it may not be announced.}

Thanks ed. Some players on that list I like a lot . Max Meyer seems like a no brainer. Fabinho looks a good option, I like Jorginho but I feel he is a step to far for arsenal. I like harry maguire a rough diamond perhaps but I feel we need to brush up on our defensive coaching, maybe comewith the new head coach. I’ve watched federicks a few times and like the look of what I’ve seen, really like his team mate sessegnon but feel again that we won’t be able to do that as he looks a real talkent. Fekir I would blow my load
Thanks again.

Ed002 what a post! Thanks!

With a heavy German influence from Sven Mislinstat and Spanish influence from Sanllehi, a German or Spanish manager and players is a distinct possibility.
Hence:
Manager - Enrique
Keeper - A German is likely as our chief scout is German and Germany provide many top keepers.
Defence - Interesting, as many top defenders seem to play in Italy.
Midfield - Already looking at Max Meyer.

Hi Eds,

Reading back through previous posts, I just wanted to ask if Arsenal had one specific target for manager, or if it will be 'open for application' so to speak.

It was stated by one of you in March that Arsenal had informally spoken to someone, but that nothing could really be done as Arsene hadn't decided what he was doing.

So I guess I am asking are we using a sniper rifle or a shotgun to find his replacement?!

Any light you can shed would be greatly appreciated by all, I'm sure.

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained, there were two preferred options originally but one was not viable. As such they have moved on to consider other options. The club did want an early answer from Mr Wenger as I have previously explained. This would allow them time to make a suitable appointment. It won't be advertised in the Evening Standard.}

Thanks Ed. I seen to remember the two Being ancelotti and Simone that the board were split on. Not sure if that's still the case and sure things will change now they are stepping up the search. Thought I'd add the two names so people may stop asking doubtful tho lol.

{Ed002's Note - It was but isn't any longer. Simeone is not an option.}

20 Apr 2018 15:30:16
Think that's a shame Ed. Maybe he'll be more defensively minded than I'd like but defending does seem to be our weakness.

Enrique?

Ancelotti also isn't and option anymore? Thanks in advance ed02.

{Ed002's Note - I don't understand.}

20 Apr 2018 17:58:37
The club have move on from both first preferred options (Ancelotti and Simeone) or Ancelotti remains an option?

Ed002, with the news wenger is stepping down, have we a new manager lined up.

Probably gives the board time now to consider who they want.

My thought is that Luis Enrique must be of serious consideration? Although I hear Chelsea are after him also.

sunny mate, luis enrique is a terrible manager. Good man manager but tactically lacking, the oppossite of what arsenal need.

Liverpool fan here in peace. Not here to criticize the fans actions of the previous few months when you see your club clearly needs a change.

However, now the decision has been made, I really hope you give Arsene Wenger a legendary send off he deserves.

Gotta say, I hope he grabs that Europa Cup. I know that makes you more of a threat next season but what the hell. That's what makes it fun.

Ed’s- no disrespect to Wenger but looking at the future, I’m sure the board had a big part to play in his decision to stand down. Have you heard any whispers or have any knowledge of who the front runners are to succeed or if not, whom they may likely approach for the role? I know you’ve said names in the past but I’d assume with wenger 100% leaving now managers might actually consider this job with a more open mind.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained for a very long time where the interest has been and what is viable and what is not. At this point in time, nothing has changed.}
