Hi Eds,
With regard to director of football news going around in the news, who are being looked at and what time lines can we expect regarding an appointment, if any.
Thanks.

Madcow

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Arsenal looking for a Director of Football at this time nor I am aware of what the press has said. When M. Wenger departs his current role there may be a chance for him to move in to the position of Director of Football himself - it would make some sense if Arsenal were to end up with a young manager (perhaps Eddie Howe would be a good example) or a manager who would need initial guidance in stepping up to Arsenal and the Premier League (Paulo Fonseca for example) from a lower-profile league. However, if an experienced manager (let's use Max Allegri as an example) was to arrive, Arsenal may find that they would be happy with a Director of Football at the club but would find it stifling if it were M. Wenger. Either way, it does make sense for Arsenal to look for a Director of Football when planning ahead but I am not aware of any efforts at this time.}

Love the detail this man goes into thanks ed.

2.) 17 Mar 2017 12:38:20
Great answer as always ed002.
Much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

I understand that the board have a replacement, Allegri, in mind and due to the enormous vacuum left when Wenger departs they wish to appoint a Sporting Director. Previously they tried to bring in Nicky Hammond, but Wenger clearly didn't' want such an appointment and in addition he has always avoided having any strong personalities in his staff, hence why there were never permanent positions at the club for the likes of Henry, Adams, Vieira, Bergkamp, etc. Wenger has surrounded himself with quiet 'yes' men, such as Rice, Bould, Primorac, Jonker, etc. These posed no threat to him and has aided in his longevity at the club. Imagine if Henry or Adams were at the club in a high ranking coaching position when we had a bad run, there would have been an option to Wenger. I believe that two main factors will decide Wenger's decision to stay or remain; 1) Whether we finish in the top four and 2) Wheteher there is a job for Wenger at PSG or another top club. Interesting times ahead.

4.) 18 Mar 2017 10:20:56
Ed said top 4 wouldn't change anything. Ed do u know what could persuade wenger to stay? I realised no one has asked u that question.

{Ed002's Note - He very nearly walked away last year over an entirely separate matter and he is now at the end of his contract. He was offered a new deal and did not sign it. The club are making provisions. If he wants to stay it is up to him to talk to the club - it won't be a case of them persuading him. He would need to go and ask for a new contract.}

5.) 18 Mar 2017 15:38:57
Would it be fair to say that he is most likely leaving ed? Because it certainly looks that way.

{Ed002's Note - I have already explained my views. They don't change on a daily basis.}

True mate, thanks for your help, you seem very helpful.

Hello Eds,
Do we have a sell on clause for Afobe. I know it doesn't affect our transfers but would be good to know.
Cheers :)

Madcow

{Ed025's Note - i would imagine so madcow there usually is these days, but i would be guessing on how much mate..

1.) 09 Jan 2016 20:44:50
What on earth were they thinking when they sold him in the first place he was clearly worth more than they got. My mind boggled at the time.

2.) 10 Jan 2016 11:16:35
Thanks Ed025 (y)
Cheers :)

3.) 10 Jan 2016 18:20:20
No surprise at all for me eden. When a young, ambitious player wants to play but you can't guarantee him any time even in the cups, sometimes being on loan isn't good enough. Loved watching him and Aneke in the U18s but in the end I'm just happy the lad's found a place at a good club.

4.) 10 Jan 2016 18:50:55
I'm sure I read somewhere, that he wanted to either get game time, or move on permanently.

5.) 10 Jan 2016 19:37:55
He hasn't ruled out returning to Arsenal in the future.

6.) 11 Jan 2016 16:13:21
Its 2million according to one of the papers.

7.) 12 Jan 2016 18:37:27
Yeah, I've just read 1.5m.

Regarding the striker situation. Eds mentioned Cavani to be an alternative to Benzema. I was wondering why would PSG sell him to us, as the futures of Zlatan and Lavezzi are still up in the air and no replacement has been signed by PSG.

Madcow

{Ed001's Note - they need to reduce wages.}

1.) 25 Aug 2015 19:21:22
So ed do u think there is a chance of cavani joining arsenal? Thanx

{Ed001's Note - if Arsene decides to make a push for him, it is perfectly possible it could happen. They are looking to offload Zlatan at the moment though.}

2.) 25 Aug 2015 19:52:04
I'd take any1 atm

3.) 25 Aug 2015 20:46:20
Thanks ed :)
I hope some striker comes in.

4.) 25 Aug 2015 21:06:59
Imired,

Charlie Austin?

{Ed025's Note - it would be a great race up front...between giroud, austin..and a tortoise.. :)

5.) 25 Aug 2015 21:42:13
Bit unfair that Ed.

On the tortoise :-)

6.) 26 Aug 2015 00:58:10
He can't be worse than giroud

Thanks ed.
Sorry for the way I framed my questions, will be careful from next time. Transfer window for Turkey closed so I was wondering Flam and Campbell would not leave.
Also Portugal's window remains open and there was previously some interest in Campbell from Portugal.
Thanks a lot ed :)

Madcow

{Ed002's Note - It seems to be clutching at straws.}

Hello Eds,
Does this mean even Flamini stays?
Is there any interest in Campbell from Portugal?
Thank you.

Madcow

{Ed002's Note - Whatever happens with Campbell has no impact on Flamini - unless I am missing something. I really don't understand how Portugal fits in to any of this - sorry.}

Hello Eds. As the transfer window for all top European leagues except English closes today, would it be safe to assume that the deals involving other leagues would have to be completed today and tomorrow it would be just between the English clubs?
Thanks!

Madcow

{Ed002's Note - No.}
