Hi to everyone been off an on reading on here for 5 or 6 years but never posted an thanks to the eds for a different slant on things than what you get from MSM,

I'd like to ask a question for everyone to get a idea of what you guys all think emrys expectations will be for his first year in the job ect.

For me I think he will be tasked with CL return for the club and I think he will target winning EUROPA as he clearly knows how to deal with WINNING that trophy.

So even if his 1st season ain't great an the club realises how much a liability that defence is I think he will be confident that he can get us back to the top table with what is already at the club in an attacking sense.

Improvement will be the goal and give the team a new identity

This will probably mean Top 4 as the main target - based on last season, EL or FA Cup as second target but behind Top 4 and giving team a new identity.

I think the squad defensively is a lot better than Wenger allowed it to be. Mustafi and Bellerin didn’t get call ups for their respective countries because they were rubbish but have both gone backwards hence why no longer in those squads.

Kolasinac is another one, Bundesliga player of the year to going backwards.

If Emery organises, buys at a minimum of a keeper and a DM, but I seriously hope more, than that along with building confidence and his expectations along with ours may change.

We can’t possibly be as woeful and shot of confidence as we were last season defensively.

But we need to see who comes in and how we look in pre season to get an idea of where we’re going.

Really like the appointment and roll on next season.

Totally agree Stoner they can't be as bad as they showed Mustafi for one fell out with Wenger . We need reinforcements but our biggest attribute can be our change of attitude and general mindset . In my book actions always speak louder than words so enough saying we are mentally strong ( we haven't been ) we need to do it - all of them COYG.

The target for Emery's first season is to rebalance the squad by signing 5 players in the current window and a couple more in January. Whilst, moving on players that are simply not good enough or have short contracts and are not signing extensions. I would also like to see him utilise new tactics and improve the defensive side of our game.
Good cup runs, reaching at least the QF's in all cup competitions and bettering our 6th place finish last season. Ideally a top four finish, but that is a tall ask considering our failure to do so for the last 2 seasons and the amount of tactical work necessary, whilst bedding in new signings.

First season could be tricky as there is absolutely loads of rebuilding to be done.
I'd say 75 points plus would be a very good return from season 1 and if that's top 4 happy days but if not it's a huge leap forward in a season.
