Apparently we have brought in Ozil (great addition), Ba on loan and Viviano on loan (would give other players a year to develop). Ed, any chance of us getting a defensive midfield with physical presence? {Ed044's Note - I am told by another Ed that Angel Di Maria is the player Arsenal are looking to add still.}

About Fellaini and Rooney,

I think both players are great and would show a signal of intent from Arsenal. Buying big and taking established top players shows you're trying to improve on last season.

I however don't think these are the right players, Rooney is known to have been struggling keeping his fitness level up and had threatened to leave Man United once before, almost forcing himself out. That's something I hate, being an AFC fan.

Being Belgian (we play Serbia tonight), I think Fellaini is one of the best midfielders in the PL, I think he can play at the top level in Europe. However according to me Arsenal need an energetic defensive midfielder, (like maklel). Someone who isn't the best passer or wants to move forward, but does his job and stays just in front of the defence and breaks down attacks, tracks back and basically works his socks off. Fellaini isn't this type of player I have seen him play DM and he fails to track back all the time. Don't get me wrong just behind the striker he is one of the best of Europe, being able to control any ball with his chest and having enough calm and vision to reach a striker. At Arsenal I would like to see Cazorla keep his central role, with maybe another Winger coming in.

PS: Eds as a belgian poster is AFC linked with any of the top Belgian prospects, like Praet, Bruno, Batshuayi, Malanda or Lestienne? {Ed029's Note - No mate.}

1.) Fellaini has said many times before that his favoured position is DMF. He only played in an attacking role at Everton as they had no one else to use.
Rooney is an incredible talent who works exceptionally hard. He may not be an out and out striker (I would buy Benteke or Jovetic aswell) but he is extremely creative and this is what we need.
Any Arsenal fan who wouldn't want Rooney and Fellaini to join is crazy IMO as they are better than almost every player we have already.

Anyone else here expecting some really great players after the transfer saga we had to endure. After talking about higuain or suarez, I would be dissapointed to see cabaye come in as AW's real big improvement. He is a good, solid player, but a great player he is not. For me Cabaye screams plan B, I had the same feeling with the three that came in two seasons ago (Arteta, Merte, Park and Santos) while Fabregas and Nasri left.

Still hoping though,

Ed, I hear people crying out for a real DM, one like Vieira or Yaya Touré. If Kondogbia was to sign for Monaco, is there any other real DM available? Which of Guilavogui, Khedira, Bender, Pogba is still available?

I also heard Lille might be considering selling Thauvin, at the right price any chance Arsenal gets him?

Thanks {Ed027's Note - maybe we don't want one? We are not interested in Thauvin at this time

1.) Vieira and Toure are not good examples of a 'real DM' they are/were central midfielders capable of playing deeper but also in a more advanced role (Yaya more so than pattrick)

Eds, just a question: If Arsenal qualify for the CL, is there any chance we'll also go over our 78 mil transferbudget (I've added Gervinho)? Will we also use the money we get from qualification?

Another questions are there any top-players still available according to the eds? So late in the transferseason clubs are normally reluctant to let their stars go.

Thx {Ed044's Note - I would not get too tied up in budgets. The club are looking to bring players in, that should be enough. There will be lots of business done in the next week or so.}

finally, CL football secured for next season.

We've done it again, let's hope that the person who goes over transferbudget opens his eyes and sees that 4 seasons of selling your best players isn't working. Let's build around the best players and add players that will make us better.
Our transfers last season were a good start. (I believe that if Song and RVP would've stayed we would have challenged for a trophy) The key however is keeping our top players.
Let's hope that this season we can sell our so called "deadwood" something that should've happened a long long time ago.
I think we can actually challenge for a trophy next season (if we improve the squad with three or four players!), with four teams around us changing their managers and Spurs maybe losing Bale. We only have to preform a little bit better than our second half of the season.
I however do fear the transfermania that will hit the PL this season, all new managers will get a budget to bring in the players they want. Teams like Chelsea and Man City will improve with big signings and Man United will improve their PL-champions, with already talks of Baines and Fellaini following Moyes.
Let's hope that times will change back to what they were, a time in which we didn't only talk about challenging for the title, a time in which we won titles and cups. After eight years (a generation of footballers) of agony, all of the fans, players and Wenger, everyone involved in the club deserves a trophy.

1.) So you believe that song and rvp would have stayed if we would have challenged for a trophy? We might have had a few more if RVP had spent more time playing!

I reckon you must also believe there are fairies at the bottom of the garden!"

A question: Is Jovetic really as good as most other sites seem to think?

I've seen him play in many highlightreels and he's scored some amazing goals and is great in link-up play. He, along with Ljajic and Borja Valero, is the reason why fiorentina have improved the second half of the season. That's what I've heard, however highlightreels don't really paint a true picture.

Is he overhyped? Can he get in to our team? If yes, where would be his most likely position (aparently he can play as a central forward, a left wing or just behind the striker)? Where would you class him?, would you place him along with gotze, Isco or Reuss for example?

Other question: a friend of mine is certain that next season Jenkinson will take over the RB role, with Bellerin as his understudy. Any thruth in that (Yes he's a Barca fan and seems to think Bellerin will be someone like Barca or Pique, who will eventually return)
PS: I've never seen him play, so I don't know how good he is, would hate to see another player leave to barca though.

1.) Personally he's not my first choice especially if we're to pay big money for him 25+ euro or whatever it might be, that's money that could be spent on a far better more proven talent.
I'd take him at 15m in a snap because of his age, and at a push 18m. The other side of that though is he puts in a stellar season next year as he matures then it could be 35m+ and he'll get picked up by City or the likes. Either way I think he's a gamble and if Rooney (Who I believe will make a switch to chelsea) would take a hefty wage cut i'd prefer spend the money on him, not that it'll happen.

It's true that a lot of great players from South America join the portugese or spanish league, mainly because the playing style over there resembles that of South America.

However the transfer strategy of Porto and Benfica is quite different to the one we want. They bring in a lot of alledged talent and sell some of them on for great profit.

There are a lot of players, coming from South-America that never seem to live up to expectations. Just think of Saviola, Keirisson,.

Furthermore a lot of players are considered to be the next. , most big established teams tend to wait and see if the player can live up to their potential. In the EPL you have the added difficulty of getting a work permit.
