Eds, can you tell us what the hold up is on the Debuchy deal please? Thanks

GOONER EST.2000

{Ed027's Note - Newcastle want to find a replacement before he's sold

1.) Cheers

Ed is there any interest from Arsenal for Igor Akinfeev of CSKA Moskva? {Ed001's Note - there was a few years ago, I believe it was dropped though. I will resist the temptation to suggest it was in Szczesny's hands at the time though!}

I honestly think Welbeck can be the new Sturridge. Both similar types of player and both had no opportunity at their clubs. Sturridge actually plays at Liverpool and look at him. Quite excited to see what Welbeck can do!

GOONER EST.2000

1.) Let's hope so

2.) OK so 24 hours on, we are all divided it seems on Welbeck, so I will put my two pence in. The PROBLEM with the Welbeck signing is quite simply he is not of the quality we are all screaming for. Arsenal have been searching for a striker for over a year! We have not managed to capture: Higuain/Benzema/Suarez/Rooney/ Cavani/Balotelli/Origi/Costa/Mandzukic/Lewandowski/Remy/Lukaku and now Falcao! All of these forwards have been available at a point in the last year. Arsenal have signed none of them! The question is why? Why can't we get them in? Its clearly not always going to be wages is it? If we can spend 42.5m on a creative midfielder, surely we can spend what it takes to get a quality 20 goal a season striker? But we haven't. We have signed a prospect and expect to challenge for what with that prospect?

As for those hoping for the Sturridge effect:
He is not like Daniel Sturridge at all! Sturridge is an out and out goal scorer, those of you who think he was terrible at Chelsea are wrong. Imagine playing Ian Wright/Andy Cole/Alan Shearer on the wing? that's what Chelsea done and the effect was he was non existent as would those other players mentioned be in that circumstance. Once he left and was played up top he did exactly what he was doing at Man City but better.

When you watch Arsenal first 3 league games its obvious where the problems lie, the exact same places they were 12 months ago! and nothing has been done. While the likes of Van Gaal and Mourinho addressed their weaknesses before and on deadline day. Our manager was in Rome refereeing a charity match!

That says it all for me.

3.) For the record I'm not anti Welbeck he is far better than Sanogo and has a great work ethic. But when you want to win the Prem or the Champs league you go and get a striker that will net you over 20 league goals a season. Sanchez will be a beast but I think he is the same as everyone else, he will need a season. Additionally the longer Wenger takes to solve this problem the less and less we will get out of Ozil, who in my opinion is going backwards at Arsenal. He needs a quality striker, who stretches defences and to play through the centre, until that happens he is a luxury that we don't seem to miss when he is out.

Did you sleep OK Witty?

And how's the season ticket going?

Lol, bless ya.

5.) As seems to be the case mr gooner, we have midses trick again and failed to sort out out problems. People can gloss it up all they like but the manager has failed again to plug the gaps.

6.) LOL agree with you DG, ww has ranted like a 10 year old who hasn't slept. And yes please answer the question abt the season ticket. For all we know your not even london

{Ed025's Note - where a supporter is from is immaterial aman..

I honestly think that signing Welbeck is great news for us. I believe he could be the new Daniel Sturridge. If you think about it, they are similar types of player and Sturridge also had potential but was never picked at Chelsea and Welbeck has potential and was never picked at United. If he comes to us and actually plays down the middle, I

I think we have a shot at the title if a few things can happen.

1.) We can continue our good form.
2.) Villa continue their bad form.
3.) Wenger has another spending spree.

If we stay near the top of the table and we can have a good spell in the Champions League, players will more likely to want to join us.

Benteke for me would be an absolute steal if we signed him and I think he would be a more likely option to the Suarez's and Rooney's of this world. With Giroud picking up an injury against Sunderland yesterday, I don't see where we go up front. Does Walcott play down the middle or does Bendtner play. I know Benteke signed a new long term contract but if Villa continue to go down-hill then he will want a move and I think Villa will probably except around £30 million.

Along with Benteke, I believe we need another defender (suggestions anybody?) and maybe a goalkeeper. I know we have brought Viviano on loan but Fabianski was the keeper on the bench yesterday so I don't know where he fits in. Szczesny is a liability but hopefully the competition that we now have will make him stronger and better.

I was at the game yesterday and I saw a lot of positives and with a couple of additions, I can see us going far away into the land of glory.

GOONER EST.2000

1.) My suggestion is Micah Richards can play across the back and DMF and is a gunners fan

2.) Yeah, I'm going to go with micah richards too. He can play a lot of positions and he is experienced in the league. I was hoping for the transfer to happen this summer, but I'm thinking it might go down January. At least I hope so.

3.) Gunner26, micah richards catches an injury through a cold.

At first I did not believe that this would be true but after thinking about it, I realise the presenter could be Jim White or Brian Swanson who do have reliable sources so there could be some truth to this rumour.

May I remind all of you sticking up for Sagna. Arsenal would have beaten Manchester United if Sagna hadn't blatantly fouled the person we know as RVP.

Jesus Christ CECEGUaW. I am guessing you are an intelligent man. Could you have not worked out that I had forgotten to put FOR so it would then say 'Podolski was to leave FOR Schalke.

Sorry for any MASSIVE inconvenience.
