Apparently we have had another disrespectful bid turned down for Vicente Guaita.

I would prefer to make no bids at all than to insult the other club and fill the fans with false hope! I think someone at the club has really missed the point of 'haggling'

Yes you come up with a lower offer than what they want (not a disrespectful offer) and then you hope to meet in the middle!

I really feel Wenger's time has come. The man is a genius but football is changing and he is not. Football is governed by money and if he is not willing to change his philosophy I am afraid it will ruin the club!

Can honestly anybody see Wenger taking the PSG job though? When they as for him to spend 60million on Jim and he doesn't think he is worth more than 20?

This has been such a frustrating window and I feel it will lead to more disappointment. Yes we will bring players in but they won't be the kinds of signings to take us to the next level. Can see 101 people moaning on this site in 3 years time to get rid of the 'Deadwood' from the 2013-14 season

If the most disrespectful thing Arsenal do is offer clubs money for players then i'm happy. Whilst i'd have liked to see them spend the extra dosh for Higuain, I don't see that offering under £17m for Valencias second choice gk is disrespectful. Perhaps they felt that he had a market value and if his club felt he was worth more than they would attempt to sign another target (Begovic? Cesar?). To me it'd be more disrespectful to offer a dickload and then back out to sign someone who proves to be better value?

With all due respect I think spending obscene amounts of money on players is more likely to ruin the club.

{Ed022's Note - I give you Leeds United Football Club...}

Sterry did you not read the post? I said we will bring players in but we will be referring to them as deadwood in 3 years time! The point was we are going to panic buy average players.

That is why enquiries are made. Fair enough when they quote 17m we walk away but if we were that far apart why put a bid on the table?

You seem quick to criticise your club?
for" apparent " romours!
lets criticise when the windows is closed arsenal always do business behind closed doors so we don't know what's going on really do we!

Leeds spent the money they didn't have.

I appreciate what your saying Freddy but if it is to be believed that we constantly haggle over 3-5million would it not be easier to pay the extra than walk away? I am not referring to the Valencia reserve keeper just making a point in general.

And why waste time bidding an amount that will be laughed off of the table? Someone has to be seriously deluded if they think we have a chance with some of the offers we put down

I find it amazing that all these clubs suddenly find it disrespectful to bid for players.
Is it suddenly the latest fashion to say your disrespected by someone offering you more money than you paid for a player?
Its so disrespectful that Arsenal should offer £40mill to liverpool for a player they paid £23mill 2.5 years ago, and god forbid we should have the temerity to bid £6million more than newcastle paid for a slightly above average player. And how dare we bid £17mil for a player valencia don't rate enough to put in there first team.
Enough is Enough with all this disrespectful clap trap

So because Liverpool and Newcastle got bargains and turned players into proven premiership quality players they aren't allowed to ask for an amount.

Messi joined Barca as a youngster, guess that means he's worth 5 million and they would have no right to be offended by it?

Please tell me that isn't your point?
