Apparently we have had another disrespectful bid turned down for Vicente Guaita.

I would prefer to make no bids at all than to insult the other club and fill the fans with false hope! I think someone at the club has really missed the point of 'haggling'

Yes you come up with a lower offer than what they want (not a disrespectful offer) and then you hope to meet in the middle!

I really feel Wenger's time has come. The man is a genius but football is changing and he is not. Football is governed by money and if he is not willing to change his philosophy I am afraid it will ruin the club!

Can honestly anybody see Wenger taking the PSG job though? When they as for him to spend 60million on Jim and he doesn't think he is worth more than 20?

This has been such a frustrating window and I feel it will lead to more disappointment. Yes we will bring players in but they won't be the kinds of signings to take us to the next level. Can see 101 people moaning on this site in 3 years time to get rid of the 'Deadwood' from the 2013-14 season

Your arshavin a laugh!! why? because we didn't buy anybody

2.) If the most disrespectful thing Arsenal do is offer clubs money for players then i'm happy. Whilst i'd have liked to see them spend the extra dosh for Higuain, I don't see that offering under £17m for Valencias second choice gk is disrespectful. Perhaps they felt that he had a market value and if his club felt he was worth more than they would attempt to sign another target (Begovic? Cesar?). To me it'd be more disrespectful to offer a dickload and then back out to sign someone who proves to be better value?

3.) With all due respect I think spending obscene amounts of money on players is more likely to ruin the club.

{Ed022's Note - I give you Leeds United Football Club...}

4.) Sterry did you not read the post? I said we will bring players in but we will be referring to them as deadwood in 3 years time! The point was we are going to panic buy average players.

That is why enquiries are made. Fair enough when they quote 17m we walk away but if we were that far apart why put a bid on the table?

5.) You seem quick to criticise your club?
for" apparent " romours!
lets criticise when the windows is closed arsenal always do business behind closed doors so we don't know what's going on really do we!

6.) Leeds spent the money they didn't have.

I appreciate what your saying Freddy but if it is to be believed that we constantly haggle over 3-5million would it not be easier to pay the extra than walk away? I am not referring to the Valencia reserve keeper just making a point in general.

And why waste time bidding an amount that will be laughed off of the table? Someone has to be seriously deluded if they think we have a chance with some of the offers we put down

7.) I find it amazing that all these clubs suddenly find it disrespectful to bid for players.
Is it suddenly the latest fashion to say your disrespected by someone offering you more money than you paid for a player?
Its so disrespectful that Arsenal should offer £40mill to liverpool for a player they paid £23mill 2.5 years ago, and god forbid we should have the temerity to bid £6million more than newcastle paid for a slightly above average player. And how dare we bid £17mil for a player valencia don't rate enough to put in there first team.
Enough is Enough with all this disrespectful clap trap

8.) So because Liverpool and Newcastle got bargains and turned players into proven premiership quality players they aren't allowed to ask for an amount.

Messi joined Barca as a youngster, guess that means he's worth 5 million and they would have no right to be offended by it?

Please tell me that isn't your point?

Ok something must be going down and very soon! Heard a rumour of Miquel to Leicester on here a few days ago but it seems to be gaining more legs. There has to be some form of a defender coming in. Even if we made 4 signings would the squad be strong enough to compete for silverware?

JoshA

1.) Reply to your question-Only if we sign a new manager

{Ed022's Note - You have to ask the question. Would Wenger honestly ship out 20 players (deadwood and youth) and leave us wafer thin? I just cant see it happening. He may as well tie the noose around his neck now if he does...}

2.) He could make the noose with that ever present tie he has too, save some money on the rope

I really think the Khedira transfer might be picking up pace now. Although I don't think anything will happen until after the World Cup the transfer makes complete sense

If Ozil does not find the form he showed at Madrid next year it could be seen as one of Wenger's biggest failures. After breaking habit and spending our club record fee it could leave Wenger with egg on his face. That being said the Khedira transfer would be ideal because he is one of the best players in the world in the position he plays (one which we seriously need to improve) and being a close friend of Ozil's it could help him through a difficult spell.

I do think we will cash in on Campbell as much as it pains me to say. IF the Sanchez rumours are true then it would mean recouping a serious chunk of the Sanchez fee.

With Debuchy almost in the bag and the possibility of Khedira and Sanchez fee this is going to be the most exciting Season in a long while!

1.) 10 months ago Mesut Ozil was class on grass and that true ability hasn't suddenly just vanished in a few months.
The German fans have tried booing him and that hasn't worked, can't think why they ever thought it might help him or them in the first place.
If Arsene adds some players that compliment him and Aaron stays fit plus get Theo back I think we will see a return to form of this very top class player.
We must get behind him 100% this season and not make the same mistake his countrymen did

2.) I can't believe the amount of criticism and lack of faith in Ozil . This is a player EVERY major club would take into their team without question . Yes, he hasn't shown what he is capable of and yes he looks lazy on the field, but I think he is having to adapt his style into a more restrictive role with Germany due to tactics. As for us, I think he needs to be allowed to roam and play with more freedom. I read a book about Mourinho while ago and in it was a paragraph about how highly rated he was between the Madrid players. In the book it was explained that ozil had the most defensive duties and roles in the team due to Mourinho's obsession with defensive tactics. For me, I think the time spent under Mourinho changed his style to some extent. Just my opinion, but I think we expect too much from him at times, maybe because we want him to be our next Henry .

My god i'm sick of hearing all the haters! A point behind city, a real chance in FA cup and an outside chance in Champions league but everyone is criticizing for not spending any money? Yes we need the odd few players in certain positions but is that any reason to write us off?

Last season we were about 20 points behind United and its safe to say we didn't compete for the title at any point! Players are maturing and the team has strengthened Unbelievably in a short space of time.

So what if we finish behind City this year? Battling for the title or scraping 4th place? We have a young squad that can only improve and I don't doubt there will be big signings in the summer! So all the arsenal haters on here writing us off go down the road to that tiny little club that throws cash round like nobodies business and still battles for Thursday night football

Not really a transfer related post but after 16 years supporting my beloved arsenal my fiancée decided to buy me my first ticket for the game against Fulham :) It's my first time in London being a northerner but would I be better getting a taxi from Kings Cross or the tube?. i'm going more for ease than price.

Hi Josh,

It's 8 minutes and 3 stops on the tube but I'm guessing walking out the station and jumping in a cab will be easiest.

I'm coming up from Cornwall with a mate and have been a gunner since 68 and my first trip to the Emirates for a game.

Leaving at 6am and driving to west London then 45mins in the tube to the ground, can't wait.

2.) Hi Josh,

The underground would be a lot quicker and cheaper (just 3 stops on the Picaddily Line) but you need to watch out that the other passengers don't tread on the paws of your whippet. A taxi would be kinder on him and would give you somewhere to eat your barm cakes in peace and adjust your cloth cap prior to the match.

Hope you enjoy it!

3.) Thanks for the replies! I will probably brave the tube although I've heard it can be complicated (not my words, I like to think I can figure it out!)

As far as the balm cakes go I'm a Yorkshire lad so we eat teacakes, sip tea and moan about everything and anything ;)

4.) Tube is easy and quick and he can get of right near the ground aswell

5.) Yeah, tube everytime, than a 5 minute walk.

6.) Tube for the atmosphere. especially if we win today.

7.) Josh hope u and yr mrs have a g8 day i'm taking mine
she has yet to see um loose at home this is her 5th game
cheers

All summer long they have complained that we need signings. A bid for undoubtedly one of europes best talents and they criticize it.

Wake up people we have a small but good squad and with an injection of pure class and with arteta, ox, pod and eventually diaby to come back. Flamini who may not be Vieira but who doesn't neglect his defensive duties and puts himself about. Would maybe like to see cabaye come in because it is going to be a long season and I would be excited about abel hernandez. Gives us something different to Giroud and because of Palermo's relegation could be a cheap one

Big day for our season but its looking better

Not sure if the stats are true but it was for all to see in the Napoli game. We got raped on the counter for the plain reason we had no man holding. Ramsey and Wilshere disappeared and left us short time and time again. The performance in the Man City game was with Arteta back in the team.

Villa will score tomorrow its just whether we can be clinical and out score them

Panic buys are on the horizon

Welcome to Arsenal Park and Santos mk2

Liverpool can consider any offer we give them so this rubbish that they have to consider over 40m is just that! Rubbish! I personally don't think we will come back with another off and I believe we will meet Madrid's price on Higuain. I can't see Wenger going to the 50m that Liverpool want and to be honest I wouldn't pay that! I would rather take Higuain for 30m and invest the other 20m on a defensive midfielder or a winger. Plus our defence is looking stretched to say the least and we are in July not December!
