people there is a rumour on the ESPN.co.uk website that Gustavo has agreed to stay in the Bundeslegue and join Wolfsburg.
The has apparently come from De Weld german newspaper.
Dont know how true or not . Ed perhaps you can throw some light on it for us?

The problem with all this launching bids for Cabaye etc is that he isn't the sort of player we should be targeting.
Would Cabaye walk into the Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham Midfield?
The answer my friends is no he wouldnt, therefore if we want to be up there overthrowing these sides for the top spots we should be buying players that would otherwise we are only building a Europa Cup team not a champions league team.
Why pay £25mil for Michu but not £29Mil ( 34Mil Euros) for Higuain one is a proven international and been part of a Real Madrid side that has won the La Liga and one is a player, though very good, cannot get into the spanish side and has had one good season in the prem?
Ashley Williams I think is worth £10mil ( though wenger obviously don't because he's offered £6mil but was happy to pay £8Mil for Squilaci . It says it all I think
1.) I honestly don't know why you guys don't go for Fellaini as Utd have pi**ed Everton off that much that i'm sure Everton would rather sell to anyone but else at a cheaper price just out of spite.

I think Obi Mikel is worth that sort of money . if we are or were going to pay 200k pw for wayne rooney I think a player that has championship winning experience, league cup winning experience, champions league winning experience and fa cup winning experience all of which Mikel has is surely wort 115K even 120K . unfortunately that's the money we have to pay and we should get real and pay it if we want to sign proven players. we ain't going to find too many players like arteta who took a pay cut to join us from everton.

So our noisy neighbours have signed so far Paulinho for £17. 5M and now Saldado for £26M.
And we are still looking at at 19 year olds.
Sometimes makes me wonder exactly why Wenger don't get his head down from up his backside and realise its not just keeping pace with those above but the likes of spurs spending big bucks behind that will push us down to no better than also rans.
I read an article in which Rafa Benitez said he didn't think he had a hope in hell in signing Higuain but it was only possible because of Arsenes and Arsenals dithering about the deal that allowed them the time to nip in and get him. And he only signed for them because they demonstrated that they where serious and really wanted the player. Take note Wenger and let's get some names in early next window so they have a good pre season bedding in together!
1.) We are being left behind. No doubt about it.
At the very least we will not challenge despite Wenger's crazy comments about how we can win the league. Deluded we are not good enough with the current squad.
2.) Next window? get them in now, this window!
And I still feel there is more to the Higuain deal than just Wenger/Arsenal being tight!

Hey this isn't manchester and your not fergie so get your own labels for your rivals, there better than fergies anyway. and yes we would like to think we are creeping up at you but unfortunately wenger is an intelligent man and i'm sure he will get a/some stellar signings otherwise like you say we will be at you and liverpool are strengthening as well. citeh and chelsea have very good squads (although not sure about citeh) man u may not be as good as they were without the fergie factor so it will be interesting. unfortunately (not really) you guys know ow to win as well and some of you don't like him but the wenger factor has a bearing on some of your results like beating us 5-2 when we were 2 up, he is calm and confident and believes in his players and makes them beleive in themselves so yes he can make a difference. I hope we keep bale because with avb and the current squad we should be challenging for at least the fourth spot its who we are chellenging it with that will be intersting.

4.) Saldado not worth that IMO, knowing my luck however I will be proved wrong. The worrying thing is knowing they'll have 100m to finish out the window!

In a recent voting poll it asked if we would use Walcott as part of the deal for Suarez? Why not? Walcott wanted to go last year unless he was played through the middle, If Wenger is going for Suarez and Giroud as our main point of attack he clearly doesn't fancy Walcott through the middle therefore rather than be in the same situation next season with an unhappy player wanting to leave because he isn't being played where he was assured he would use Walcott to get the player you want and give the Ox more game time because he won't develop by sitting on the bench. just in the same way that Walcott hasn't developed into the player everyone expected him to.
1.) Agree. I don't rate Walcot very highly. Would offer him in an exchange for suarez, and then go after Di Maria
2.) I was one of the ones who said 'yes, use him in a deal' - it would appear I'm in the minority on that one but so be it. He's an average player who gets chances and takes them.

I would sell Auba Martinelli seems to find the net these days. Laca works more across the front line than Auba and given that Arteta wants a pressing working team Auba is not that kind of player.
I also think to get that sort of money now for a player over 30 is a better move than waiting another season when his value will drop considerably.
Benzema has already let it be known that he is not open to the move to arsenal
I find it amazing that all these clubs suddenly find it disrespectful to bid for players.
Is it suddenly the latest fashion to say your disrespected by someone offering you more money than you paid for a player?
Its so disrespectful that Arsenal should offer £40mill to liverpool for a player they paid £23mill 2.5 years ago, and god forbid we should have the temerity to bid £6million more than newcastle paid for a slightly above average player. And how dare we bid £17mil for a player valencia don't rate enough to put in there first team.

I agree Arsenal are nowhere near a top 6 or 7 european team and to say we are because we have won more titles than chelsea or city is deluded.
On that basis as the ed says Celtic should be top two aswell as rangers because of the trophies they have won!! Can we honestly say rangers are a top european side??
Also on that analysis Liverpool would be around top 3 in world football with all those leagues and european cups.
But hay if living in the past is what makes people happy go for it......
because i for one am interested in the here and now and we ain't anywhere near top 20 at the moment!!!
