Heard we are lining up a bid for Mascherano. Not too sure myself to be honest, but would be a welcome addition.

Haggis Gooner

1.) Would love to see him sign, but it simply won't happen. Fellaini would be great and/or Lucas

2.) Would absolutely love to see him in team, COYG

3.) The Barc one? Please no. I hate him with a passion.

4.) I hate him. but messi makes me bare with barca. all 11. even thou I like only 3players. we all know the other one as our own and iniesta

5.) I think he would be quite a useful addition, being able to play CB or DM, and has a decent pass on him. Wouldn't be my first choice though.

Good point Weisebar, it'll be a do-or-die season, no doubting that.

Perhaps contract discussions should be postponed until after the January window, so that we can see how the squad is fairing in the league/cups, and whether or not any further quality reinforcements have been brought in.

Mind you, my dad was born the same day as Arsene Wenger and he's thinking of retiring this year! Although he'd probably think twice if there was a 7.5m p/a contract round the corner.

I think you're forgetting the huge role Wenger played in luring such a world class player to Arsenal.

Take Manchester United for example: The prospect of being coached and managed by SAF was key in attracting top names. The prospect of being coached by David Moyes however, is less so appealing, hence their below-par window this time around.

Even Jack Wilshere himself, when questioned on his loyalty to the Arsenal, mentioned that it was fairly reliant on Wenger staying put.

A new contract shows faith in our manager who in turn has shown faith in his players. I do not believe that ousting him at the start of this 'new era' that he has worked so hard to achieve would be beneficial in the short-term or the long-term.

A new contract for him would be welcomed by me, but that is just my opinion ofcourse!

Lewandowski is Polish not German!

Lewandowski is Polish.

And about this bloke on Twitter:

As an avid skeptic myself, I can't stress enough the difference between this particular fella and 99% of all twitter ITK's. Most of his reputation is gained from the onslaught of abuse that is spat his way, and clueless people who twist his words to their own fairytale script.

I've been following him for over a year now, and I would say that 80-90% of the information that he does 'relay' from his 'sources' seems legitimate information at the time - It only takes one little bit of information that was right at the time to turn out irrelevant at a later stage, for the whole twitter-sphere to erupt into a pitch-fork-wielding mob.

If any of you listen to the ABergkampWonderland podcast (I thoroughly recommend it!), the regulars on there personally know the fella and have repeatedly confirmed that his 'source' or 'sources' are genuine.

Ultimately, you can take what he says as gospel or with a pinch of salt - Either way, there's no reason to get so wound up about it. There's especially no reason to subject the guy to abuse.

Here's hoping that what he said ("Arsenal ready to spend £40mill on German international) is true, and once we've beaten £90mill worth of Spuds, we can welcome our nice shiny new German international to the team!
