RIP Phillip Hughes. Sporting tragedy, absolutely gutted. Thoughts and love to his family and friends.

SydneyGunner

1.) Totally agree a very sad day that puts all sports results into perspective.
God bless him and all those close to him.

Tragic. It was a terrible thing to happen and cricket has lost a real talent.

Re the Pole about Salary caps, yes if you can get every single country in the world to agree but that will never happen.
So no it won't benefit because each league wants the best players and all it takes is one country to say no and they won't have a salary cap so naturally, all the best players will go play there.
We have a salary cap here in Australia and its great for our own brand of football (AFL) because no on else plays it.
As far as our real football league (The A league), it will never be at the same calibre as your leagues because we can't attract the great players when in their prime.

I'm happy to see the window close so we can get behind our team and know who we are supporting. let's remember we have had no big losses of players this season, our team from last year has only been improved. With Walcott back think of the speed in our front three, three runners for our midfield to thread balls through and three players in front of Ozil for him to reignite.
Let's be positive, our team needs positive fans!
COYG!

People seem to be bringing up other clubs and some of their players performing well after the world cup so our players not having the required match fitness should no longer be an excuse.

No one has the same body and some people's body naturally will take longer to recover and come back into prime conditions, that's just the way it is. To use Giroud as an example, he is a big strong guy who has more muscle mass than a lot of strikers out there possess, naturally being a bigger guy there is more muscle mass to recover, therefore it makes perfect sense to me why he may not be match fit.

Just my take on it.
He had a bad game, I believe he has shown us plenty of good ones in the past. Give the guy a break, he'll come good, having a bad game will only increase his desire to come back to his best.

Having said all this, I would still love someone either to back him up or better him as we saw him get tired last season and dip form, but there are positions more pressing to be filled at the time being.
There's a long season ahead, our team is better than last season, let's be positive. COYG!

1.) Good post . sensible also

Giroud has 40 goals in 79 starts, might be 80 now, that isn't bad at all

2.) Good post Sydney mate, Giroud didn't wake up yesterday morning dreaming of being the main target of everyone's dissatisfaction, he would have wanted to be PL he man who got a hatrick and all but assured us of qualification.
It was a very bad day at the office, sadly they happen

As boring as it is, you can't criticise the tactics. He is doing exactly what he needs to win. I hate to say it but I can admire Chelsea because its so rare to see a defence that is winning the title for them, its not exciting but its different.

Even if we do score 3 in the first 14, wouldn't put it past sunderland to score 3 to take a draw at the end. I'm going 3-2. We'll score a winner in the 92nd.

I have been thinking this for a long time. Good post!

Player management I feel has been below par for awhile now.
