Team news for Monday's game would suggest it'll come too soon for Ramsey, Welbz, Debuchy, the Ox and Arteta. Safe to assume we can rule Diaby out too as he'll probably sustain an injury driving to training tomorrow. There have been cries from some to see the likes of Jack and Theo to get a run-out, plus of course there are those like Rosicky who have been available for selection most of this calendar year and haven't had the minutes they'd have liked. Team selection could be on the verge of getting a lot more interesting. This is not a luxury we're used to after all... As fans, who do you we pick?

Ospina
Debuchy - Gabriel - Mertesacker - Gibbs
Wilshere - Coquelain
Walcott - Ozil - Alexis
Giroud

I can't see Cazorla and Koscielny being left out if I'm honest Detroit. I know Koscielny had the Achilles problem but I think Wenger would have rested him by now if it was still a problem.

With only a game a week let's just rest players through late substitutions.

Wenger could start Rosicky in Ramsey's role then sub on Walcott or Wilshere later in the game.

Bellerin please, esp against montero who made chambers look like a fool last time out

Been thinking... what's really good about today's approach is it might stop those mediocre pundits spouting their rubbish about how Arsenal just can't win on a Saturday lunchtime. Good to see that myth put to bed

If you count two out on loan (Sanogo and Pod), Arsenal have 21 different scorers from all competitions this campaign. Giroud and Sanchez have 14 league goals each. There's barely an outfield squad player who has yet to score. If we can produce that many goals from that many different parts of our team, that's arguably a decent way to come from the days of relying all too often on one talisman like RVP. Most of these haters might realise they don't have a leg to stand on... Oh wait

Prefered the days of bergkamp, Henry and pires who where all capable of getting 20+ a season with viera, pennant, Reyes, wiltord, etc all chipping in. But yeah I know what you mean

The more I think about it Sanchez is a lot like Rooney. Can be a formidable player, especially in an environment like the Prem. Rooney is better suited to no. 9 than Sanchez and has a worse disciplinary record, but Sanchez really gets stuck in to win the ball, shows a lot of self-belief and an incredible desire to win games. They're both pretty selfish with the ball in the final third too.
Biggest concern is that, based on his recent form (i.e. dip in form), Sanchez is a lot like Rooney because he thrives when the rest of the team plays poorly but has a quieter run when the team soars. Generally been the case for Rooney except when he played alongside Ronaldo. Let's hope Alexis breaks that starting this weekend and proves he can add to the fine tally of goals once again - just alongside an in-form front line...

To be fair Sanchez carried us in 2014 without him we would still be hoping to hoping to get into the top 4 by May, his form has dipped by his own very high standards but other's would love his current form to be theirs.
His work rate and passion have raised everyone's expectations of each other but most importantly he's raised Arsene's expectations of the whole squad.

2.) 02 Apr 2015 13:35:27
Otherwise known as burnout.

Wenger wanted to rest him, but didn't because Sanchez "wanted to play".

Sorry Arsene, you are the manager and you know how gruelling the English prem is.

If you wanted/needed to rest him, you should have, despite the players protestations and desire.

3.) 02 Apr 2015 15:07:38
I said this many weeks ago Dags and got shot down, why did Wenger put him on at Brighton? he has dipped in form since then

4.) 02 Apr 2015 16:22:42
Yep, I remember Bambam.

The guy needed a rest and that was the perfect time.

5.) 02 Apr 2015 16:46:02
But people said rest him against Place too where we won by an odd goal and if we'd have dropped points without him those same people would have gone mental.
Its always difficult especially when fans like in the Monaco at home are too over confident before the game saying rest this that or the other player then slaughter the manager after the game, imagine how many Monaco would have beaten weak Arsenal side by?
How many consecutive games did lampard play for Chavs? I think he holds the record, i think :-)

As a squad we have been privileged enough to enjoy goals from 19 different players. Realistically, I can think of at least three who stand a fair chance of nicking a goal before the end of the season. Just interested in hearing others' views. who would you fancy to be on target for us between now and the end of the season?

fourth.place.trophy

1.) Well, seems the obvious choices are Akpom and Gnabry. After Monreal's game yesterday, you'd say he has an outside chance between now and late May - even against stronger opposition. As and when Gab gets a run-out, you'd have to fancy him heading one in (although, admittedly, we don't exactly do set pieces). Just leaves Flamini, Diaby and the keepers as our least likely contenders, plus maybe a few youths like Bielik.
Nice to see the goals tally shared though. Always better for the team spirit I feel

Very mixed emotions when I read that one-liner. Fair play but still REALLY no need to go reminding us
As for the team chat, fair point. Problem is Arsenal should be targeting higher calibre players than over half the options they've loaned out (who, let's face it, will NOT ALL make it at Arsenal - in fact, half probably never will) so not loaning them out is still not exactly addressing the problem of a lack of quality. If they'd managed to sign worthy backup for Coquelin, chances are we'd not even be mentioning loanees. Still, a little more squad rotation could avoid such regular injuries and we're denying ourselves those options. A good two or three of them don't seem to be getting much out of their loans too; January recalls would be very helpful in the circumstances.
Peace.

Well, let's face it. the good old fourth placed finish is the morale boost we Arsenal fans have all grown to love in recent years.

well if we're all to believe that the one and only Nacho is actually a versatile defender able to handle any part of the back line, then maybe a new LB accompanied by Monreal in the centre is the obvious answer.

I think it's also worth saying that it's easy to be short-sighted about these things when you're caught up in the hype and momentum of a team's great run of form. Make no mistake, we've been near-exemplary for a whole season but we are talking about the full 9-10 months that make up a season. Moreover, as you rightly say, we didn't win our CL group, we crashed out of the league cup and we exited the CL at the last 16. Should we wish to improve, adding depth will help us get through the toughest period of September-March, when games come thick and fast for those in the CL. I hate to say it because I don't wish to respect a man who needs to learn some respect himself, but the depth Jose has gone for at Chelsea is a prime example. Our squad looks great but some fresh legs and one or two upgrades on our regular benchwarmers WILL not go amiss
