Good to win. Thought Iwobi was fantastic. Perez needs to up his confidence. Xhaka was quite good and Sanchez though good, was trying too much. Gabriel, Nacho, Kos played well.

Luckily palace for 70 mins were very toothless and it was an easy game to control. Sanchez was a giant today, although he always is.

Good result today with the pressure of playing last well and truly on, Chelsea are looking good value right now but we need to keep doing all we can to keep ourselves in the chasing pack just incase Chelsea do stumble.

I will say this it was far better than mikitarians because it was on side and legal. Made up for the sitter 10 minutes before, sums up giroud.

Mikis was better
Miki had 2 feet in the air and guided it in to the corner.
Giroud had one foot in the air and threw himself at it.

Mikitarians was offside and only given as a goal through an incompetent linesman. For me at the time, I thought it was a shame to even mention it as a great goal, I think that debate is over now.

Which one was a goal? Did I miss something? Pretty sure only one of them can be up for goal of the season 😉.

Girouds goal: counter attack, build up play, lovely backheel by Giroud in the build up, amazing finish that was in off the bar.

Mykitarian's goal: offside.

Mykitcat also had more me, the ball travelled further to him, he had longer to make his mind up.

I don't see how you personally can take any credit for Mykitarains goal Banbury mate, your weren't even involved in the build up mate :-)

Hope palace aren't at it today, one of the weakest teams we have put out in the prem for a while. A little worried.

It's the raver coming through in his Subaru tanked up on Malibu to tell R. G. that the crap spurs side are above Arsenal and are now sitting in 3rd. How good is it to have the best young midfielder in the country and the lethal Harry Kane who has a better goal scoring record in 100 games than Ian Wright and henry. We, are now Chelsea's main danger for the title and they are getting smashed next . I'm out to get smashed and celebrate Hogmanay in style.

LOL Raver

Be sensible, Chelsea's main challengers are Liverpool and you know it. mainly due to the fact that both Chelsea and Liverpool have no European football. I thought from the start of the season that it would be between either Chelsea or Pool, I'm yet to change my mind.

Raver, good result for your boys today. You are right - the table never lies although opinions differ.

Interested piece: ‘We were criticising Arsenal earlier on and now we’re talking about how well Spurs are doing [but] Arsenal are above them, ’ Carragher said before Spurs’ clash with Watford.
‘It’s because you treat Spurs differently to how you treat Arsenal.
‘Look it might upset Spurs supporters but we see Arsenal as a bigger club who should be going for the title.
‘I think with Spurs if they get top four then it’s a good season. That’s the different between the two clubs"

Oh dear raver, premature as ever. Solid win by Arsenal with the best young midfield player in the PL, Iwobi, on show and I suggest having a look at Giroud's goal. Cruising down Park Lane in my Porsche 911 sipping ice cold Dom Perignon. let's see if the losers from the lane can do their mighty neighbours a favour and take any points of Chelsea. As you well know raver the pain at the lane just goes on. 1961, yes 1961 and still waiting, over 55 years of misery.

As a word of advice raver, it was foolish to try winding me up, when we had to play Palace at home and were likely to finish the day above you. Yes, you had a couple of hours above us, but so what when at the end of day we finished above you. In respect of the Chelsea match it's a no lose situation for us, if you beat Chelsea (your prediction) then Chelsea lose points and we have an opportunity to close the gap on them. If you draw, then we have the opportunity to increase our lead over the toot and close the gap on Chelsea. If you lose, then we can open a 4 point gap on the toot, who will be looking nervously over their shoulder at the two Manchester clubs closing in and 6th place looms for the losers from the lane. Our job is to try and beat Bournemouth and that may not be easy as they are a well run outfit under Eddie Howe. 1961 raver.

R. G. you said iwobi better than alli is, a joke ask any neutral fan who's better and they would all say alli. I'm sure I just seen your Porsche parked up in Clapham common with all windows steamed up, don't worry about Chelsea

Oh dear raver, you are embarrassing yourself again. remind me what round you were knocked out of the League Cup in? Remind me whi you are playing in the last 16 of the CL? Remind me which team is immediately above you in the league? Remind me how many trophies the toot have won in your lifetime? Remind me how many trophies your manager has won? Remind me when was the last time the toot won the league. a clue. 1961!
Still stalking me I see. The pain at the lane just goes on.

Iwobi v Alli - The difference is that Iwobi actually stands a chance of winning a trophy at Arsenal. Occasionally the toot sign decent players, but they have to go elsewhere to win trophies. Remember Sol Campbell, who left the toot to join their superior North London neighbours Arsenal, in order to win trophies and he did exactly that. The same went for Bale and Modric. I keep having to remind you that the pain at the lane just goes on .1961 and waiting.

R. G. fabregas, van persie, clichy, sagna, adebayor all left Arsenal to win trophies and Ashley Cole was never going to lift, a European major so ge joined his London rivals to win it lol.

Oh dear raver you are embarrassing yourself again, virtually all the Arsenal players you metioned actually won trophies at Arsenal. A simple question for you, how many of the current toot squad have won a single trophy at the club? I will give you the answer this time. zero. None of them were ben born when the toot last won the league or even the FA Cup! 1961 the pain at the lane just goes on.

Pretty sure Kane simply matched Henry's goal return in first 100 PL games, as opposed to beating it?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Morning all and happy new year to everyone reading, particularly all the Eds whose work is greatly appreciated and have been excellent over the last year. As the January transfer window opens, I have been wondering which positions and which players would strengthen our current squad. One key area of concern has been the left back spot, where Nacho has failed to recapture his form over previous seasons. A full back who could cover at both sides may be needed, in case Bellerin is out injured. A few names being said are Gaya from Valencia and Rodriguez from Wolfsburg. Admittedly, I do not know much about either of them or if they would be an upgrade on Nacho. However, in this current window a left back is a priority if we wish to have any kind of shot at the title.
Another position which has been linked with players is the LW / RW. At the moment, we have the Ox, Iwobi, Walcott and Sanchez to call on. However all three of the Ox, Iwobi and Walcott may go down as the three most frustrating players I have seen. They have all shown glimpses of good form this season, but followed by inconsistent performances in big matches. We have been linked with big names such as Marco Reus (which I would love to see but know is unlikely) but I am unsure if we will strengthen in this position. Players that will be coming back in January and March include Mustafi, Welbeck and potentially Cazorla. All three can contribute hugely to our season and have done already. The last thing I wish to do is put a question forward to those reading, which players would you like to sign / which players do you think are likely to sign?
Happy New Year all and hopefully a happy year for Arsenal!

{Ed002's Note - Gaya and Rodriguez would not move to provide cover and would be first picks if either ever moved to Arsenal. The full back who I am sure Arsenal would have been working on in January is Kieran Tierney but he has been injured and there is always then a risk until full fitness can be proven.}
