So who's worried about November? Has this not been our bogey month over the past few seasons?

I'm very excited about it and mostly about playing Spurs PSG and Utd on the trot, surely these games are the highlights of any season.
We will know much mors about our chances after these games especially in the Arsene v Mourinho head to head, win that one at old Trafford and things will get very exciting that's for sure.

Ah nasty November. Will tell us loads.

I have a feeling if we get through nasty November with no probs you'll be waiting for a dodgy December a jittery January a frightening February a murderous March and an anxious April Steve. 😂😂😂😉

So we'll have to make do with a magical May. 😁.

There are a few guys very nervous about November.

So far we've had Average August, Super September and an Ok October, were top of the league after an awful start so all in all we're having a surprisingly satisfactory season.

Almost every time Caz is injured we struggle to find our form, we need to be aware of this and either play Aaron as a direct replacement or change our style to accommodate for not having that type of player available.
Its no good trying to play the same style of play with any two from Xhaka Le Coq and Elneny none are a Caz type players.

I don't think there's a need to get too stressed about today's result, City have had it done to them, United did it to Liverpool and Spurs have had it done to them.

They have all failed to break down packed defences, that is part and parcel of the way teams will play in the Premiership. No game is a given.

We didn't lose and Ramsey should be available next week as will Santi.

Like you've said these games come along, it's making them few and far between that will make the difference.

Agreed Red but lots of teams try to play their preferred system even when the personnel aren't available to play that way 100%, just think maybe we may need to adjust accordingly when key players are missing.

It's just one of those games where it wouldn't go for us. I don't agree we missed cazorla, because we have had similar games already with cazorla in the team. Also we did create quite a few chances, just wouldn't go in especially for Walcott.
The player were missing in these games is Giroud or welbeck, to provide a physical outlet up top.

We really did miss cazorla today. Elneny had more space than any other arsenal player by a long way and he slowed it down and never made a forward pass of note.

Personally I think if your usual game involves using 3 CBs but you only have 2 available its better to adapt to the system rather than use a MF player to fill in at the back in order to keep your preferred system.
Just my view.

It's unfortunate neither Xhaka nor Ramsey were available who would probably have preferred to Elneny but ultimately we needed to finish the few chances we created.

It's far from the end of the world.

Hope you enjoyed the day SLB, result aside. 😁.

I like caz but today was not about caz or any individual, it was about application and team ability. I love sanchez but we needed him in the box, he was everywhere, trying to do everybodies job, we needed a mobile presence in the box ( know what i mean ) and pace from the midfield to out wide with quality crosses. We lacked composure, abilty and varyation to break down a stubborn defence. Yes now and then every team has trouble breaking packed defences down but we have more trouble than most at home. And giroud is an option but he isn't the answer. We did try and sign both and didn't but ultimately i think we will rue not signing a left back and striker with a bit of presence for games like these.

We're going to need a big big squad if we give up on every player who has a couple of poor games Steve mate, About 80 billion and permanent window should cover it :-)
Nacho was fine 3weeks ago and will be again in 3 weeks time mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2016 23:16:30
Nacho has not been fine for a while for me but at the moment there is no argument, he's way off it, not sure he will be fine in three weeks either, he's no spring chicken and up until recently had the reassurance of sanchez the metronome on the left, who he misses greatly to cover his side.

Time will tell Steve but I think Monreal will come back and be more than fine, let's see how we both feel about him after notable November:-)

Think Elneny did a good job today until he got subbed. Walcott should have been subbed instead of Elneny, had an off day.
Well, i'm not the manager :)

Elneny didn't do anything wrong. But been at the game he was the player that needed to go! He had all the space and slowed play down and never made one forward pass! To safe today.

I thought with the exception of cech everyone had a bad day and monreal had a stinker. A lot oh huffing and puffing but not blowing the house down.

22 Oct 2016 19:11:02
Its still early days for Elneny last season he was like a school boy trying to impress a watching scout constantly calling for the ball regardless where he was on the pitch, now he's trying to be more calm controlled and disaplined in his game so will need time to find the rigt Ballance in his game.

Think the most natural replacement for Santi is Jack and Granit or Rambo. We know why our three options were not available. Hopefully both Granit and Santi are back soon. Santi and Ozil are crucial for our team to work - most important partnership for defence and attack.

Sounds like an off day at the office - we all have them! COYG!

Let's get Perez scoring against Reading as we will need him at some point soon.

If anything, this game highlights how key Santi is linking the defence and attack. We sorely missed him today. Top for now, Spurs also dropped points but we can hope the Saints can pull a surprise at the Etihad tomorrow.

Well that was pretty poor. Too slow no idea and another lesson in how to stop arsenal play, two banks of four and defend the 18 yard box, easy. Monreal looks more and more shaky and liable every time he plays, constanly beaten on his side, weak and awful crosses. I think our strengths are being underminded by our constent weaknesses. At home again and unable to beat a less than average team.

Its a disappointment but all teams have disappointing days over 38 games, possibly the old problem of underestimating the opposition after a run of good results but let's give the team the benefit of the doubt for a week or so.
As it stands our points per game ratio puts us on target for 84 points and without doubt in the main we look a lot more convincing than we did when we were top last season, let's accept today wasn't great but not forget how we beat Chelsea so convincingly just a few weeks ago mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2016 18:40:50
Im not sure they underestimated the opposition, just think our set up is still falable. But like you say everyone has a bad day, let's hope it was and not the old problems resurfacing.

Interesting that Nacho ( mr reliable 2015/ 16) is struggling.

That's not good as he normally gives us stability on a consistent basis. Not awesome in attack but very solid in defence.

Monreal has had a couple of weak games against Swansea and Middlesbrough but I don't think he's suddenly lost his ability and dependability, Kos Sanchez Ozil will all have a below par patch at some stage this season as all players do.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2016 20:26:04
Monreal looks slow and unsure, i think he has lost a yard or two of pace and knows it. I would put gibbs in but the problem with that is we are making the team smaller still at set pieces.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2016 20:36:33
Unless Gibbs has dramatically improved the defensive and positional side of his game since he was last a regular in the side that would be an awful mistake Steve, there's a very good reason Monreal became our first choice left back in the first place mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2016 21:18:39
Yes gunner gibbs got injured. I don't think gibbs is that great but i do think monreall is an accident waiting to occur.
