That's why a Collymore gets so much money - it's his superior knowledge and sensible comments

Like the following comparisons concerning Ozil:

And I'm not convinced that in his personality he has the ruthlessness of a Steven Gerrard, a Roy Keane, or a Graeme Souness to do that.

I always thought Ozil should be more like Souness. There I was hoping he would turn games more like Silva at City.

Shsme on me and praise to the wonderful Collymore.

Do you see ozil or Ramsey as our number 10 next season.

It's both of thems best positions but Mesut is better at it, I see no where other than there where Aaron is better than decent, in midfield the Scorpion kicks are fantastic and runs into the box are excellent but the game saving tackles are non existent.

Ozil is our best 10 by far but ramsey is more versatile from deeper.

Ramsey is an attacking minded player who in big games might chip in with a bit of graft, cup games ect with a medal attached but ultimately he's only interested in being involved in the goals for column not stopping goals against, the deeper or wider he's played the weaker Arssnal become.

Supporting the attack is his game and supporting the defence just not in his natural make up.
Pea Miki Ozil Ramsey Lacasette fitting them all into one attack comes at a cost elsewhere and that elsewhere is team ballance and success.

I agree g62 I think it's hard to fit more than 3 of them in without giving too much work for everyone else. But that's the main thing I hope emery does differently to wenger:either has a magic wand to wave that makes everyone put a shift in and stick to the jobs they're meant to or doesn't bother picking those that don't because their names look better. I'm also really hopeful mkhi can get close to his dortmund form, if he can get close to that, then he should be well ahead of Ramsey too!

Ramsey for me is a bit like Xakha decent enough squad cover but not good enough either as attking midfielder or defensive midfilder to really make a difference in the big games. Ramsey performs best in the Ozil role but just not as good as him and Wenger squeezed him in out wide too many times to the detriment of the team balance. If he is not commited sell up and get either a proper winger or another DM as I think in hard away games you need 2 better defensive midfielders.

Personally I'd go for

Pea up top with Mesut and Miki behind him Eden mate, but then again I'd play 3 4 3 too as I think it covers an awful lot of areas where we are not yet as strong as we hopefully will become in the years ahead.
I know that isn't Dicks style and that's cool but it's just my preferred formation when you don't have all the players you need to play as you would ideally want.

Anyone see ramseys Interview talking about his future. Didn't seem too committed to the club in my opinion. Really don't think he's going to sign a new deal and If that's the case it's a shame but we need to look at selling him. We need everything to be fresh this season and that includes no will he stay or go players like we have the last few seasons.

25 Jul 2018 14:18:11
Make him available and plan for life without him, if he's not happy with that then I'm sure he will let us know and if it's suits him just fine cool we all know where we stand.
Take control of the situation rather than let players continue to call the tune that suits them best all the time.

25 Jul 2018 15:07:56
Exactly what I was thinking. Did you see the interview it's on sky sports. Maybe I've read him wrong but he didn't seem too fussed about staying.

Now I know Emery has said he likes the player but I’m starting to think it may be the club who’s having reservations. The player we’re talking about is hurt every season and I’m sure that’s what’s hindering a possible new contract. Arsenal have probably drawn a line in the sand in terms of how much money per week they’re willing to give Ramsey and he’s, in all likelihood, looking for considerably more—hence the stand still. Ramey’s a quality player but it wouldn’t be catastrophic if he had to be sold. However I’m also weary of how many real suitors the lad has out there. Guys like Alexis and Oxlade-Chamebrlain had several teams vying for their service and it was well known. that just hasn’t been the case with Ramsey, which is why I believe a deal will eventually be struck between the two sides.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 15:33:51
Lets not hang around if he is not commited to a new deal then sell up and get a replacment. I would rather sell Xhaka than Ramsey to be hoenst but we can't keep allowing payers to run down their contracts or blackmailing us into silly wages like this. Ideally we need a winger and for me another more defensive mid for the hard away games when you need 2 really. Ramsey should fetch a half decent price if sold now certainly enough to get N'zongzi, romours on this leon Bailey as a winger also.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 15:36:15
Agreed Q as with Mesut there wasn't a very long que of clubs seeking his services either, while Sanchez and Ox had city United and Chelsea Liverpool making bids for them.
Aaron is good when he's good but pretty much a me me me player looking for headlines much of the time, when Arsene played him on the right he just did his own thing rather than what was asked for the team.
If you have room for him to play in the hole i think Aaron could be brilliant but in cmf or out wide he's pretty so so a lot of the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 16:24:32
Oh wow! I heard the interview and thought it was just a matter of details between player and club. the fact he is talking like this just means he expects an agreement to come through. I think probably Ramsey want a contract similar to Özils since he is a key player.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 16:38:44
Knowing that Ozil has a deal worth in excess of £300,000 per week, I am certain Ramsey's agent is pressing for a high salary.
There needs to be a decision soon as we cannot afford to allow his contract to run down, if we are able to sell him for the reported £40-50m.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 17:08:05
Im sure the clock is ticking, someone will make a move in the next week. Ramsey is useless to us unless he commits to a new contract. We all know it isn't a satisfactory situation and leads to chaos further down the line. We as a club can't survive letting players go on a free and selling others for peanuts because they are not good enough. While others are selling players for huge amounts around us and reinvesting. I do belive the residue of the wenger failed years will be sorted in this or the next window and we can then start trying to build again with the players that are for arsenal fc. All ready the team has a non wenger look about it and if ramsey stays or goes, ultimately doesn't matter but his situation does for afc.

The bloke misses half a season each year through injury and the 50% of the time he's available he's not exactly the talk of the premier league like Kante KDB Salah Kane Hazard and Silva.
Can be good on his day but vastly
over rated compared to plenty of other premier players who do it in most games season in season out.
If Ramsey was so good we'd have Barcelona Real Juve PSG banging on our door not to mention utd City Chelsea. But not one of those clubs have shown any interst despite him being so gettable with just a year left on his contract.
Mesut like contract of 300k for a player no big club wants?
Why would we even think of giving him that?
He's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is and the fact he's in such little demand elsewhere should tell him that.
Arsenal would be better off without him and signing a player who thinks playing for our club is something special and not a fall back plan if all else fails.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 17:54:32
Gunner, ramsey, like the rest of our "british core" that wenger invested our future in, were stopped in their progress by long term injuries and fleeting form. He is a "good" player for us if he commits to a reasonable contract andxstays fit, if not he can be sold to whoever he thinks he's good enough to go to and want to pay more than we are prepared to pay. We only need good commited players.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 19:23:08
Steve we've had a generation of players asking " what will you give me not to leave on a free next summer "
The question needs to be to be reversed and us to ask the players
" if we let you stay what can you offer Arsenal "
1 man wiling is worth 10 men who can be bought by anyone for the right price.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 19:30:27
He's a bit of a hindrance more than a help his best position is no 10, but he's no where near as good as ozil and never going to displace him, he's exceptional cover for ozil, but not worth anywhere near his wages (ozils not either obviously) but he is one of our most talented players and so wenger picked him, but he lacks the defensive awareness and discipline to play a deeper role, always bombing forward or the pace to be effective on the wing and goes AWOL drifting inside leaving the flank exposed, far better to sell him and buy a winger that makes the team better than try and shoehorn him into a team that leaves us unbalanced.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 20:15:57
Eden agree but i think Dick thinks he may be able to fit both in his system. If he stays, it will be interesting to see, if he goes, torreira, nzonzi with ozil ahead looks tasty.

Gunner, the british core was an abject failure, it never achieved what it was meant too. We owe ramsey nothing, he owes us.

Hi ed I was wondering about ffp coming to the fore again this year and clubs adhering to it, whether the punishments are going to be harsher? Previously it had only really been fines and comparatively weak ones that surely wouldn't put financially strong clubs like utd off if it meant getting a preferred target?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think you misunderstand about the punishments there have been. Many sides have been excluded from competition, had their team sizes reduced, significant fines etc.. Manchester United have to comply liuke other clubs.}

25 Jul 2018 11:14:47
Fines are pointlesss. If the authorites are serious about FFP it should be points deductions or a transfer ban period until they get their house in order.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Clearly you don't understand the punishments there have been.}

25 Jul 2018 12:13:35
Ahh, thanks, that's what I was wondering. I guess I hadn't seen any of the clubs being excluded and having there teams reduced, I thought it was just threatened but rarely implemented, but if it was that would put most clubs off, thanks.

Surely all clubs use all the resources available to them to be the best they can be.
So Man city have more money than Arsenal but Arsenal have more money than Barnsley who in turn have more money than Borehamwood.
Where is the cut off point where it becomes unfair to be City v Arsenal but fine if it's Arsenal v Barnsley in financial power?
We can't produce a totally level identical clone world, I think in the country the TV money is split pretty equally amoung all 20 clubs but in Spain Real and Barcelona take the vast majority of TV money for themselves, well they did the last I heard anyway but that may have changed.
What about the parachute payments for premier league relegation teams? Those who drop down from the premier league have a massive advantage for 3 seasons in the championship over those who've never had the premier league money?
I think it's impossible to make everyone totally equal you can only ever make it basically fair not perfectly fair.

25 Jul 2018 16:27:02
Its about spending what you earn, Man City PSG and chelsea (more in the past than recently) have spend a lot more money than they earned in revenue. Sure there is never going to be level playing field that is the same with all pro sports both team and individual based but success breeds success as you then increase your revenue because of it.

The only way to control player transfers is to make all contracts worldwide managed and setup all by a central football association body and agreed transfer and wage limits are set and get rid of agents.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea have never breached FFP.}

Can't see how anything changes if he does or doesn't go, if he does someone will replace him if he doesn't it's one more in the already over crowed false news stories column from fantasy football headquarters itself.
By Skys own admission 80% of their stories are false so why even listen to someone who is 4 times more likely to be wrong than they are right?

It's a bit like reading your horoscope Eden mate, if your in need of some good news and optimism then they will supply it for you mate.
Accuracy doesn't come into it becausepeople aren't supposed to take Mystic Meg or Sky seriously.

Someone with a blue car will on tonight's lotto and Benzema will leave Real, if you sat it often enough sooner or later your bound to get lucky somewhere along the line :-) .
In the the 19th century some bloke used to predict if your baby was going to be a boy or girl for a fee that if he was wrong was totally 100% refunded, he simply predicted boy every time and made a fortune and had a brilliant reputation for accuracy too :-)
