Glorious day, today. Goes without saying.
That second goal was a turning point; mentally, Villa switched off after that, as if they felt that there was no coming back from it because Arsenal could hit them from anywhere. That's
I couldn't work out what it reminded me of. I kept thinking back to Santi's glorious free kick last year and then it hit me: good old Romford Pele might just feel he's been outdone in Arsenal history as far as FA Cup final screamers go.
General verdict - whose was better? I'm torn but more than happy to re-watch the pair a fair few times while trying to work it out... Thoughts?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

31 May 2015 00:15:48
Good question.

I'm going to go for Romford Pele's goal, purely because unlike Sanchez and Cazorla, he is not known for his screamers.

Also, because most Arsenal supporters properly thought 'don't shoot' when Parlour had the ball.

Thank God he didn't listen to us.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 May 2015 09:41:11
Have to say I think Sanchez goal was the dogs doodahs.....
Also loved Romford pele gol.... as a blast from the past you have to think of Charlie George goal being in the frame.

Bearing in mind that every few years you go back the ball was soggier and heavier (a bit like the centre backs).

Agree2 Disagree0

31 May 2015 11:50:02
Fair point. Charlie George's is in a league of its own for me anyway. Too young to have seen it first time around but footage of it seems so iconic - especially with his celebration

Well done the gunners hope Walcott stays now

Belerin Monreal Le Coq have all earned the right to start next season as first choice regulars, they've all proved themselves worthy and deserving IMO.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the thing is mate you cant rest on your laurels, if arsene signs a great player who he feels will improve the side he will play them no matter who its at the expense of, hes the manager and must have complete trust, no matter what the fans think is fair or not G62..

30 May 2015 23:29:55
Its a very fair comment mate, all I would say is results need to justify displacing any of them.
If we sign Spyder for arguments sake and he was preferred to Le Coq a top 2 finish would be the minimum requirement to justify the decision mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think team selection comes with any guarantees mate, its all subjective..

30 May 2015 23:54:08
Cech and a very top striker would do me mate and I think we'd be very very close if not 100% there in next seasons title race.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2015 00:18:42
I'm a massive Schneiderlin fan and has been calling for his signing all season.

But, if we don't sign him, Le Coq's form will soften the blow.

As Ed said, we have to strenghen and improve though.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2015 07:15:50
Great teams constantly improve the players at the club. Its what we have to do now we have the money 3 new players in positions already stated must come in.
I said we must improve on last year & we have 3rd & a cup is an improvement. Same has to happen next season, we must now push on for a lge win

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2015 11:38:13
If you have the chance to sign Schneiderlin/Vidal to improve the squad the you have to take that chance. That's how you win titles. It's paramount to keep improving the squad. Le Coq has been excellent this season but it's all about having the squad to push for the title next year. He'll be a valuable member of that squad but too pass on a superior player to guarantee him a start is not the way we should be heading. As a player, Le Coq has been immense for us but Schneiderlin can do everything he can and more. Signing players like him wins you titles. It's that simple.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate

Very professional job today on a villa side who had no answer. Special mention for bfg and coq. Unsung heroes today alongside the two superstars santi and SANCEZ the legend. We actually played a game where we were always in control and never got sloppy. Pleasure to watch.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

30 May 2015 23:03:19
Im his biggest critic and make no apology for being so but Mertesacker was absolutely brilliant today, better than I thought he had in him.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no argument from me on that one G62..

30 May 2015 23:48:21
Today was about winning the fa cup, and bfg did his job well, can't fault him, but his falabilty, means we need an upgrade to challenge for the league. His age means he can still be a valuable squad player and cover, but not to play all season, especially against the better more fluid teams. Mind you i also think that applies to giroud and after today does wenger?

Agree4 Disagree0

31 May 2015 11:44:16
Was a great win and performance from the whole team! Nights like that do make me feel glad the way we go about things. Like not having a tycoon owner and winning it our way. Lot more satisfying for me. Also Steve I think you forgot ozil in that list of great performances yesterday. Thought he did very well and worked very hard. Considering people on here are so quick to criticise him I was also flag of that. YA GUNNERS YA!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2015 21:15:49

Fantastic game and win today and some great performances, Santi, Ozil, Kos, Ramsey but i thought Le Coq was absolutely immence, his best performance of the season.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

30 May 2015 22:45:52
Ya le coq was fantastic today, nearly everytime we lost the ball he was right there to get it straight back. To be honest I think this was probably our best performance of the season, whole team was excellent. Special shout out to Ozil, I'd say that's the best game he's played in an Arsenal shirt!

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2015 22:52:19
Totally agree Brentwood mate, Sanchez has been our player of the season by a distance but player of 2015?
Le Coq is 2nd to none in that race, without him today doesn't happen because I'm not sure we win at old Trafford or finish top 3.
Taking nothing away from anyone but Le Coq really has been that good.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2015 23:37:04
Player of the season for me has been Santi without a shadow of doubt. He admittedly had a slow start to the season but so did too many of our team, meanwhile Santi has remained pretty consistent since he got going, despite those many minutes under his belt. He's shown his adaptability in playing in some three different positions and can outclass many an opponent's better midfielders. It's one thing to praise Sanchez but he's only getting the goals with the right supply. I doubt he'd have had anything like as many shots on goal without the dominance in midfield. That said, team game and all that - and no-one helped bring out the best in Santi quite like Coq. Future looking brighter for Arsenal already

Agree2 Disagree0

30 May 2015 22:02:55
Congrats on a great win today guys, much rather see you guys win than United, Chelsea or City, and great to see Theo back too, great player and stand up guy. What a strike from Sanchez, almost as good as Gerrard's vs West Ham ;-)

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - nice to see that super, you dont have to support a team to admire a great performance mate..well done fella..

All I have to say is Yahoo!

Every1 was brilliant. Sanchez is exceptional. Also happy that the BIG scored. Well done Arsenal. Spending time with Jack Daniels honey now

Cheers Gents

PS Can we all just Celebrate for one week and forget about transfers just for a week and bask in the glory?

Gotta go, Jack is calling

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im a honey JD guy myself rue...i might just join you there mate..

30 May 2015 21:13:26
Great game today - everyone played great

Gotta say - the two big signings ( Ozil and Sanchez ) were pure class and really shone

Pace and passion and an awesome goal

Sublime touches, slicing defences and keeping possession

Real happy BFG scored - he was so excited and proud. A real captain. Started celebrating and G'ing the crowd up near the end

Nice to hear Wenger say we had to sell our best players when we moved grounds but now we are to compete for 1st spot. A lot easier signing players if you play well, pay well, challenge and win trophies

Well done boys!

I know Villa fans will be hurting and bitterly disappointed tonight but on the bright side for them, spurs fans are hurting even more :-)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good..and very good.. :)

30 May 2015 20:57:05
They are not hurting ENOUGH yet (the spurs fans that is)!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2015 21:00:57
How can they be hurting? They just beat Sydney in a dramatic 1-0 thriller.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - "well toss another shrimp on the barbie".. :)

30 May 2015 21:05:02
spurs fans hurting lol you won a trophy no one cares about anymore, i would be hurt if you won the title or the champions league but i never have to worry about that. better get the bus out for the mickey mouse cup

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed025's Note - oh you bitter little man raver!...they have just won the most prestigious domestic cup in the world and all you can do is piss on their parade... shame on you..

30 May 2015 21:46:27
Raver,

I'm not saying we have had a fantastic season, but Spurs can only dream of doing what we have just done.

Also, looking further ahead, we are 2 players short of being a title winning team, whereas your shower are at least 7 or 8 players away.

Also, our supporters have a modicum of class, and if you sold Bale again and got another £90m, that would not be enough to buy the class we have.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 May 2015 21:36:38
Ed025 its our parade mate, you deffinately one of us geeza.
Raver I wonder what Harry thought watching us today? :-)
Perhaps he has an allergy to medals and will stay with you, if not?

30 May 2015 19:56:10
Absolutely ecstatic.

Last season FA Cup and 4th.

This season FA Cup and a comfortable 3rd.

That's an improvement.

For the first time in a long time, I will be expecting/hoping for us to challenge for the title.

That's an improvement.

We were brilliant today.
All the big players turned up and played.

Don't want to single anybody out, they were all great, but Santi was awesome today, incredible.

Very very happy.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i will single someone out dags..SANCHEZ..not many on the planet can score a goal like that mate..

30 May 2015 20:15:43
I agree with you both, and the way santi spoke at the end sounds like he'll still be here next season.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think he loves the club MgM, and the fans certainly love him mate

30 May 2015 20:23:57
Both Santi and Theo spoke about next season which seems to mean they're staying.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2015 20:19:30
Totally agree Ed,

Its always nice amongst all the 'tica-taca' footy, somebody just gets the ball and puts his laces through it.

That somebody is normally Sanchez.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes the difference mate...from arsenal being a good side to a great side..

30 May 2015 20:51:05
Definitely Ed,

He's an inspiration, not just to Arsenal players, but to a lot of young players who play for other teams.

It doesn't matter how good you are, what team you play for, or even if you are an International player, you are nothing if you don't work hard and give 100%.

You look at players like Abel Taarabt at QPR and that young player who went from Manchester United to West Ham, 2 very gifted players who are throwing their careers away because they can't be bothered to put in the effort.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i felt the same about yaya toure this season dags..immense talent but when hes not giving his all is decidedly average mate..

30 May 2015 21:11:12
Compared to last season Ed, Yaya has been a disappointment.

But, at least he has won a few things and is getting on a bit, unlike the 2 players mentioned above.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2015 21:16:51
Add Poldolski to that list too, fantastic finisher but very reluctant worker.
He could and should have been so much more

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

30 May 2015 22:12:21
All the gunner love is a beautiful thing… but if we are going to start singling out performances … make sure Ozil gets his share, his passes and drifting with the ball were world class, can't be a handful of players in the world with his vision - yeah baby!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im warming to him myself rooster mate..

30 May 2015 19:50:47
Sanchez, what a player, what a goal. Have to say I particularly enjoyed the pre-game piece about him. The man is a true role model, a couple more like him in the squad and we'd be world beaters!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes amazing jack..and what a goal!..

30 May 2015 20:21:50
Very humbling to see Jack, we are very lucky to have him.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2015 19:24:07

Fantastic performance.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - your right ted..superb mate..

30 May 2015 19:00:33
The Arsenal we all long to watch

Did I hear BFG shout G62 when he scored?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 May 2015 19:38:34
:-) I thought he was excellent today.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they all were G62..

30 May 2015 19:46:41
Very true Ed mate, I can't remember ever seeing a team so brilliantly dominant for so long in a FA cup final, and I've seen a few :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - villa were very poor mate, but take nothing away from the gunners they were superb

30 May 2015 16:49:11
Watching tv, it's all villa this villa that.
Every now and then they mention arsenal then go back to villa love in

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 May 2015 17:16:02
I'm sure the Villa fans are saying the opposite, personally I think its been very balanced and the BBC have done the competition proud this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2015 19:56:30
Sorry buddy, but have to say you are way off with that. I am nice, always balanced, give the ref. credit and agree on fouls against us etc.
But honestly, BBC have been on a mission to be a little old fashion with the coverage, guess that it is fine, we all love the FA cup and want it back. But it has been at least 70% about some comedy villa poet/happy go lucky villa fans/other yawn villa stuff all day.
Anyway we just won so I love everyone and agree with you all 😄

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and we love you sussex.. :)

30 May 2015 14:58:41
Hello guys! It's been a year i last visited the site, glad to be back!
Btw do u also think we have to start rebuilding the whole squad next summer because Per will be 31, Arteta 32, Rosicky 35, Koscielny 30, Giroud 29, Santi 31, Flamini 31, Debuchy 31, Monreal 30.
What dou think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 May 2015 13:58:15
Juventus have agreed a 60,000 a week deal for khedira is this true? Seems we may have missed out there. Maybe this will provide us the opportunity for vidal. I can't see both vidal and pogba leaving though

30 May 2015 12:41:21
Just listening to Arsene and its true he is under appreciated by many if not most of us at times.
He most deffinately frustrates and bewilders at times but we are so lucky he came to Arsenal back in 96.
In 2015 he has shown a much less stubborn and stuck in the past side to him and a new willingness to adapt to a changing game, hopefully today we will make it two in a row fa cups and over the next two years we will see Arsene once again lift up the premier league trophy and then finally and ultimately the champions league too.

The only change I would make to the side we both expect to start Robbie is bringing in Gabriel, Benteke is their biggest threat and Gabriel is better equipped to deal with him IMO.
But Arsene will go with what he see's as his best 11 from the start

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2015 11:09:15
100% Agree with your selection, Robbie.

Im worried Wenger might go for Szszency, Debuchy, Gibbs, Ramsey and Giroud.

30 May 2015 09:15:48
Just watching the 73 cup final :-) what a final that was.
10 players would have been off in the first half hour in today game for what was then just good hard tackle's.
That final had it all the red hot favorite v the brave underdog, disallowed goal, a saved penalty and a another unbelievable double stop by the keeper and Bob Stokeo at the end :-).
If you wanted to make a Rocky style film about the fa cup 73 was it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 May 2015 08:17:15
I'm expecting we will start with what has been our usual 11 and Jack and Theo on the bench.
Arsene is talking up the impotantace of sub's and not getting off to the same poor start as last year which makes me think it will be business as usual today with the side Arsene has learned to trust most.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 May 2015 01:14:41
Can't wait for 2moro guys! Mega excited! Hopefully we will show how we've grown and will stamp our authority early this year!!

I'm going 3-1. Benteke bound to score! Giroud needs a goal to net me 20 offa Pool fan.

As Özil says Ya Gooners Ya!!

Nervous as he'll still! Lol

Hopefully this time 2moro we will all be smashed with smiles on our faces!

Cammy Out!
