Hopefully we will sign a striker tomorrow. Sanogo needs to go out on loan. God knows what Cambell thinks as he isn't being given a look in. Podolski isn't able to play the central role and Sanchez is better playing off a striker or supporting from wide.
We also need a CB & a defensive midfield player. I can't say I'm hopefull, let's hope Wenger proves me wrong.
Carvalho
Cavani &
Alderwiereld

We have signed the fewest players in the PL and most are straight replacements. Only Sanchez has been a major improvement. Otherwise it's been Ospina for Fabianski, Chambers for Vermaelen & Debouchy for Sagna. All good signings, but not necessarily major improvements.

Amongst all this negativity I just thought add my two pence. We need to consider the circumstances before we start criticising, arsenal have just played 5 games in the first 14 days of the season. Two of those were tough champions league games with us having to travel to turkey in the first leg then 4 days later away to Everton then 4 days later battling out 90 minutes in the second leg in a very intense and nervous game. To then travel to Leicester 4 days after that against a quick hardworking team was always going to be tough.

This is also a post world cup year with a number of players only being back like for two weeks before the start of the season and the Germans have only been back for about two weeks in total. So to play 5 tough games in 14 days straight away like say was always going to be tough.

Yes we need to sign a striker a defender and a defensive midfielder and I don't understand why he plays Ozil on the left and Sanogo ahead of sanchez, podolski and Campbell but we need to just stand back not be too hastey too pounce on tthe attack yet, let's see what tomorrow offers and let's hope we can settle down and start playing some confident football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

But the Germans haven't played 5 tough games?

Just feel we are so ponderous in attack. A bit like a basketball team but as in basketball the defence usually gets time to get set. Teams allow us on to them and we pitter patter about waiting for the killer ball - but trouble is the defence has 4 midfielders and 5 defenders so there is no space at all. With our pace Sanchez, Ox and Wally plus our new striker! we should be hitting people on the break dare I say like Chelski with Cesc playing in Costa etc. Also why do we insist on just about putting enough roll on the ball when we pass? Ponderous again and let's people get set in defence drives me mental! Hit that pass we have ball players who are good enough to control it! Good news is we are unbeaten and can a) add to the ranks in next 24 hours and b) surely we cannot keep playing so slowly . Still confident we will have a very good season! PS Where was Jack today? Would have removed Ozil at or just after half time COYG

Sussex AFC,
Good post which I agree,
What scares me most is that our manager is so out of date in his thinking that we will not change anything in our tactics or BUY anybody else before the window closes,
We have bought ONE player in and replaced the others who have left,
Fabinaski, Ospina
Vermalen, chambers
Sagna, debuchy
The promise of a "start of something" on the back of the FA cup win is all B#####s
Your thoughts?

That's what jumped out at me when we played Bayern Munich. They played fewer and quicker passes than us to move the ball forward but also at speed which kept the tempo plus made interceptions harder.

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't get to choose how the other team plays! If they play 10 in defence you can only try and play around it. When this happens Wenger should put the BFG up top, just to spin out the opposition managers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been saying that we have no tempo.no pace to our game for years. There is nothing wrong in being a bit more direct but our manager seems to disagree. On the Sanogo situation if I was Joel Campbell I would tell Wenger to do one.

I might get to 4 matches a year( if lucky) it cost a fair bit possibly 100 quid for the evening or afternoonx2 . I see the same faces everytime, seasoned season ticket holders choughing up thousands how many season tickets are sold per season 40,000?, today's performance was mid table at best, Ozil is being played in the wrong position, Santi, Ramsey et el all, to a man not inventive enough to break down a stubborn championship side who are cutting their prem teeth, the point is we the fans are being ripped off.
arsenal fans pay top dollar for second rate players . Sanogo is a joke, he isn't Prem quality, .imagine all the top 4 managers laughing at us as we field Sanogo as our striker.complete rubbish

Carvalho playing for Sporting Lisbon tonight versus Benfica. Commentator keeps stating that everyone expects him to be on the plane to the UK tomorrow to join either Manchester United or Arsenal. I can't see M.U. buying both Blind and him.

And another post while I'm at it

Chelsea business done
Liverpool business done
M City business done

US same as all other seasons, still chasing our tales looking to bring players in and what is going to be now inflated prices?

Why the large gap between the 3 signings and now?

As Alan Smith said on Sky and I posted something similar, we always seem to do just 80% of business in the window and end up a player or two short. Just spend the extra 60 million and we are done, it makes next year even easier . surely

City business may not be done - word has it they and Real and fighting it out over Falcao - this striker story may yet have a twist because someone has to make way - like musical chairs but less fun

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Remember City have those UEFA sanctions, this limits the amount they can spend and the number of foreign players in their CL squad, they really need to move players on before they can even contemplate signing Falcao

Still don't understand playing Ozil on the wings. Also don't understand not starting Sanchez up front - I can only hope it's because Wenger wants someone else. Don't understand Rosicky not getting a game so far this season, or Diaby, don't understand Campbell on the bench and Sanogo starting.

Apart from that, got the whole thing sussed

Did we have a midfield today?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 18:48:44
The main problem with our team will be sorted with signings our Robles os tactics, we just don't deploy any at all, we had no specific game plan today of how to win the game, apart from just go and see what happens!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've said the same for years mate, we get only plays one way and has no plan B , he gets tactically out smarted on a constant basis, we look exactly the same no matter who we sign, we have so many good midfielders and they are played out of position most of the time

To be completely honest if we do not sign a prolific striker, a strong controlling defensive midfielder and a big name defender this club could well be looking at battling for 5th and 6th at this rate! Cavani, Falcao are both available for striker and Carvalho for CDM why is Wenger so stubborn?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said this club will struggle

1 - 1 against Leicester isn't appalling but it does show we still lack depth for all the plusses of Alexis and Chambers. For pity's sake Wenger why not get Jackson Martinez from Porto (46 goals in 60 games?) and whilst you are in Portugal get Carvalho for £24m. No idea how good the Greek centre back is, but Martinez, Carvalho and Kostas or whatever his name is would make it a Happy Monday. Step On Arsene.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Manolas went to Roma and I believe Martinez just signed a new contract.

Still hoping for Carvalho, however.

Joey Campbell cannot get any minutes on the pitch with giroud injured and Walcott still out, if I were him I would think about leaving as when they are fit he will lower in the pecking order.

Today after they scored not once did I think we looked like scoring or winning, lack of urgency all over.

Wenger waited too long to sub kos, he clearly was not right and did not fancy heading the ball after his clash,

75 minutes to make our subs too late.

Lucky point in my eyes, seemed like we settled for the point near the end.

Awful team performance
Awful management,
Awful attitude.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One of my biggest concerns when I watch this Arsenal team is the tempo. Our build up play is to slow and allows every team we play to get back in shape which then takes are passing game out of play. We're then found playing short passes on the edge of the box which usually lead to nothing, look at Liverpool today the speed they break with allows them situations where there attackers have space to run in and sometimes outnumber the defenders similar with Chelsea.

We're a few players short of competing, Alexis is an excellent addition. Why Ozil is being played on the left where he is ineffective is beyond my comprehension.

My biggest fear is even if we signed two more players of Alexis' standard for example William Carvalho and Marco Reus. We would still be found wanting due to our tactics. I just feel managers like Brendan Rodgers and Mourinhio have an edge on Wenger because they can adapt, set up in different ways. There strong defensively and then counter quickly and create goal scoring chances.

A win today and we would have had a decent start a draw puts us on 5 points after 3 games. 3 points clear of United. Which is only one win. We have City next if we lose that and they win we'll be even after one of the worst starts to a campaign they ever had. We've had the harder sides granted but just shows how we are underachieving.

Players who looked immense during pre-season have gone of the boil. I personally think Ramsey has been terrible bar his goals since the start of the league. How Wenger hasn't given Joel Campbell a sniff of a chance is ridiculous. He would have been buzzing after the world cup, finally been put in the Arsenal squad. Then be frozen out on the bench. Reducing his confidence and removing that post World Cup buzz.

The team lacks balance and strength you don't sign one of the worlds best number 10s for 42.5 Million and play him on the wings. We've got the shortest average squad size and when teams get physical we look outmatched.

Things can change quickly and I hope they do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hcf,

Read your first paragraph and met you have hit the nail on its head. TEMPO or lack of, so slow to move the ball forward movement off the ball is reaction so losing 2nd ball situations.

No real pace out there today, and against a team like Leicester do we really need a holding midfielder?

Agree0 Disagree0

You've just saved me a half hour of typing mate, that is absolutely 100% spot on.

Frustrating is too weak a word to describe watching that cr@p today.

Wenger needs to fix this. He literally has hours left to try and do what should have been done before the word cup even started. We've seen many a quality player move this window and some even at modestly low fee's so he's no excuse.

He also needs to go back to square one on the training ground and sort us out a new tactical system to get the best out of the players we have.

No disrespect meant to our opponents today but if we can't take all points available during a season against a newly promoted team, how can we challenge for the title?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 18:07:00
Why didnt podolski start instead of sanogo today?! He would have definitely scored from the chances we got! Other than that I thought our game has improved. Precision n passing! Missed giroud so badly today! He would have won us this game!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 18:02:34
why o why does he always wait so long to change things, yes try sanogo but when he misses chance after chance bring on someone else with enough time to change the game. don't turn round to the press and say we have lots of players up front if you won't play them.

joel campbell must wonder what he has to do to get a game 2 points dropped, was looking foreward to this season but it seems that thing will remain the same, its not fun being an arsenal fan when we play like that

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 18:32:59
Same old story we do not spend ok we spend around £65m but get 45m from sales inc fab and vela so there's the answer Everton Southampton and most of the prem has spent more than 25m and yet we believed it was going to be different than any of the last 10 windows this window after the sanchez deal we are all so deluded. Wenger is a prize porkepine if he cannot see how far we are behind the top 5 teams yep the top 5. we need a striker a DM and a cb are you blind mr wenger. Come on u are messing us all about. U r as tight as a nuns xxxx

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 18:18:13
Brief add on to my previous point; although it was quite negative, we should get too disheartened. I think we will get to the point where we base the whole team around Ozil and Sanchez and we will begin to come into our own.

It's a marathon not a sprint. Or some other cliche blah blah

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Shouldn't* get too disheartened

31 Aug 2014 18:17:57
Let's not go OTT people, most teams struggle the weekend after a CL game and its early days to be playing so many games in so few days.
We're all disappointed not to win today but ithe season really is a marathon.
Everton drew at Leicester and Chelski were very fortunate not too, Leicester have done well in all 3 games in a very difficult start for them.

I know its been done to death, and we all know the 3 positions that are needed. So for my first post on this site I won't comment on our transfer needs and our inabality to succeed in the market.

And as its my first post, its best to get in people good books, by trying to talk about the positives:

Sanchez has an insane work rate.
Chambers is great! A fantastic signing. So solid at the back and I trust him on the ball.

Oh wait I lied I can't think of much else. We were just pretty slow, no urgency, especially towards the end. And teams seemed to have us sussed at the moment, where they just sit back and counter us, while we intricately pass the ball from one side of the pitch to the other. Sanogo had the odd good run, be he really doesn't have any of the required 4 P's a striker needs; pace, precision, penetration and power. Oh and the ability to kick the ball really, really hard.

As my username states, I miss the days of Thierry, as I assume do we all.

Oh and quick shout out to the Eds, seriously unrelenting effort from you guys and I am massively grateful, thank you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In games like today's we need a player who can unlock the opposition defense from deep. Flamini was a liability, would much rather have seen Wilshere given the chance alongside Ramsey.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 18:01:42
Winger no idea his best team or where to play them, oil was a spectator Ramsey starting to look for the Hollywood ball, Sanchez works hard but loses ball to much, Santiago becoming predictable, sanogo well not good enough.

Campbell needs game time podzol ski too. no pace no passion, watching Arsenal has become boring and painful

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are you sure you were watching Arsenal? Oil, Podzol and Ski?

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha sorry mate probably better than the actual players, bloody iPad and trying to predictive texts grrr

Looks like another frustrating season ahead. again a few players short from challenging, what's wenger blind faith in sannogoal he could of played for a week he would never score, Campbell should of been on at half time.
We need spider and a cf if wenger thinks we don't he is deluded 24 shots on goal 6 on target speaks volumes
Can't belive how crazy mario at 16 or Remy at 10 have not been brought in. Wenger can't use no one was available who would improve the team excuse
I just pray these hunterler rumoures are true

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally speaking I think the manager is our weakest link.It took him 75minutes to get Sanogo off when quite frankly it should have been 75 seconds. We need a quality striker asap.3games into the season and we have already dropped points against teams that Chelsea have beaten. We are so so predictable tactics wise its just not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spanner,
I totally agree.
I have been saying this for over a month,
Let's keep everything crossed and hope he comes up with the goods otherwise I can see a very hard season ahead and a wasted opportunity following on from wining the FA cup

Just realised how good Giroud actually is. IF we don't sign a striker we could be in trouble for sure. Sanogo has the touch of a heavily mittened elephant

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Been saying that since Giroud signed, he is a v good striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud is not a good striker. He is average. Sanogo is atrocious. Giroud is the "one eyed" striker among the blind. We would like a "2 eyed" striker please

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 20:11:24
Giroud gets a lot of stick but is very under-rated. Yes he misses more than most top strikers but his scoring record is pretty good and his all-round play is invaluable. We are going to find out how good he is while we don't have him.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 17:57:44
1-1 Poor really up front no focal point without Giroud no Box presence. We need a proper Striker for sure but I doubt we will actually get one or anybody for that matter. We need to make decisive moves in transfer market. Look at Chelsea straight away replacing Torres with Remy no messing around.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 17:37:26
do you think with the knock to kos and sanogo having so far today not doing the job required that wenger will be persuaded into making a real effort into signing another striker and defender?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 17:27:34
The work rate from Alexis is amazing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 18:14:07

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 18:23:50
Shaneyd I dunno why you're saying that he has been one of few positive things so far

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury, he has been just ok for me, his work rate is admirable but I think he is dropping too deep has a looses 1st touch, I expected him to be on the move getting between their defense but it seems not his game so ozil has not ot that link as many thought they would.

I understand he is new to our league but I think maybe he is trying too hard and not in the positions where he can most do damage.

Chambers and to a degree debuchy have been the only 2 positives this season the rest have been below par

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 17:23:29

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My commentary continues

Our tip tapping about doesn't frighten anyone, we aren't Barcalona of a few years back.

We had 5 players all within 5 yards of each other trying to dance around their defence

We are easy to defend again with very little threatening pace .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Does wenger coach this? Guys get five of you into a ten yard space just inside the box and try to pass through 9 defenders

Same shit over and over. wenger should sit up in the stands and observe team shape

This guy never learns from his mistakes

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Banbury we walk around the pitch a good half of our passes don't provide us with anything. For me today same probs different players which for me says it ain't the players. Really poor game

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate we're so predictable it's a joke.

cons:

Can people please give me your thoughts on sonogo. he is a waste of space. I don't blame the lad. but how on earth does he start over poldi or Campbell?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's going to be good player but I am tired of Arsene teaching players on the pitch in PL games. Campbell or Poldolski should have started. Sanogoo is too raw yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Will say it for the 1000th time Sanogog has to be loaned out, to a Championship side to learn what it is really all about, as you say it isn't is fault

Agree0 Disagree0

He does need to go out on loan, and maybe just maybe become that great striker wenger thinks he is

Agree0 Disagree0

quote of the day.

Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell are on the bench for Arsenal today - if they don't get a run out up front in the second half their agents may be asking for a move tomorrow. Yaya Sanogo continues to lead the line.

It can't be any more blunt then that. 1 good thing about being out here and not watching the game is I don't have to watch Sanogo fluff it up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And I wouldn't blame them, he isn't fit to lace their boots

He is doing his best but that isn't good enough

He has just missed a golden chance that Giroud would have been slaughtered for on here

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger out

Same ol same ol

We are rubbish

He is a football dinosaur

Agree0 Disagree0

This is so frustrating. I love the Sanogo punt but let's get him in the reserves or on loan to build him into the arsenal player we all hope he can be. Right now taking up valuable space and costing us points that veterans like Poldi or Rosicky could be making things happen.

I am a bull on the gunners but c'mon.

Just to finish the post

Sanogogogogog isn't the answer . is he? But I am now convinced no striker will be coming. but blimey weren't we unlucky with a bid to get Remy ( sarcasm )

We need a CB desperately and a first class one, not a second rate one from the Greek 6th division, there was a lot of talk about playing Chambers as a DM. can't see that as AW thinks Flamini and Arteta can do that job.

We are a million miles away from Chelsea and M City and about100 behind Liverpool IMO.

I'm sitting here at the game thinking what in the world must Sanchez be thinking having to play with Sanogo after the players he has played with at Barceloona. Who is the backup striker to Sanogo? because whoever it must be he must play with a Zimmer frame. So far everything I've seen about Sanogo must make him one of the worst Arsenal players I have ever seen and there has been a few in the 52 years I have been following them. Please let's not hear about the Emirates Cup.

Im going for a score draw here

This time last year we were about to kick off against spurs and we were having a real pop at wenger about only bringing flamini in.
3 hours later we were in negotiations with ozil

I'm praying for a similar turn of events over the next 36 or so hours. A win, Carvalho and falcao/ cavani will do nicely arsene

Remy to us rumor seems to have more lives than an American soap opera character. Its been shot 10 times, drowned twice and been pushed off a cliff into a shark filled tank and set on fire but still it keeps coming back, it ain't over until 10 pm tomorrow even if he signs for chavs on a 100 year deal today.
Captain Scarlet had nothing on remy

Cerci reputed to have signed for Athletico Madrid today.
Loic Remy no longer on the radar.
My opinion:- Good, if that means sufficient funds for Carvalho and Sokratitis, the two positions we really need to strengthen.

I'm sitting here at the game at the moment. No Wilshere and Sanogo up front.
No Ox or Campbell in starting 11. Why? Why? Why?
I made a post the other day about the Man U game . Don't under estimate the opposition! I hope this doesn't apply today. I think we should have gone for Sanchez up front and Ozil behind him . But what do I know .?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well get up and sing for the team we put out! I'm sure you will :) I really need to move to England.

No offence mate but that is the Wilshere you want sold being replaced by our best player Ramsey. Seriously?

Jack was wiped after the Besiktas game and I for one don't want him picking up another injury.

It's important to play your best team in the big big games, but we simply have to rotate when we can.

In reality it's only Giroud missing that would make this a pretty much full strength team.

Have a little faith in Sanogo, there are plenty of options on the bench including Campbell who had a good game for the U'21's the other night.

Do you know Today could be the start of a difficult season for us if things go wrong.
Spurs seem to have clicked, I look at their team and think MMMM.
A win for them and a draw or lose for us, could be very bad today
I really thought their would be bottom 10, (God I do some silly bets)
Still we can't do anything about their game, only beat what is in front of us

Here's my theory. AW was stung by Mourinho last summer over the transfer of Ba. This led to him having to recall Bendtner, who was almost out of the door. Could AW be getting sweet, sweet revenge? Remy is a big Arsenal fan. We could also offer them Sanogo, or possibly Akpom on loan, so they wouldn't be left short. Chelsea would be left short due to loaning Torres. Is Wenger getting his own back on Maureen?

Thinking about Ozil this morning in the WC and EPL

I am excited about the thought of our squad being back to full strength including Theo and Giroud / Giroud replacement so that Wenger has the ability to play Ozil in his more favoured position - no. 10.

I believe he has been slightly sacrificed by Wenger in the second half of last season as well as the start to this season due to injuries and that he can play almost anywhere. On the left he can still create, holds to ball well, gives balance and does actually track back. At least this gives the left something. He is probably a better option than Santi or Pod on the left.
May be we get Cavani - then push Alexis on left and Ozil in the middle or Remy to allow him and Alexis to alternate the LW and CF roles.
I believe Wenger is too smart not to know what Ozil has been saying in the press plus done on the pitch to know where to play him. I don't believe the article would be out there otherwise.

So my belief is - with a few additions we should have a squad to allow us to get the best out of Ozil even when injuries kick in.

If we get the best out of this guy - I am sure our midfield and strikers will bag a lot of goals as he is one of the best no. 10s!

If one of those additions is a CDM or at least a disciplined CM then all the better as Ozil can work harder going forward and our defence has an extra man to protect them

Good luck today boys - let's find that Mojo and make a statement against the Foxes! Get the team buzzing and the trophy hunt started properly

:)

Hi eds,
Is there a plan B for us other than Remy? He could well go to Chel$ki and, by moving for him, AW is showing he wants another striker. I know he's said he's staying, but Lacazette would be good value and AW may be able to persuade the club and player. Is there a backup option, like Lacazette?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really can't answer that.}

31 Aug 2014 10:22:26
Fair point Ed, sorry about the convolution. Let me try again, do Arsenal have any negotiations going for any other striker targets, in case Remy chooses Chelsea?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any "negotiations" for players who would not be first choice. I have mentioned players that are available - Huntelaar wants a move this window and would like a move to England. Maybe he is an option.}

31 Aug 2014 10:51:48
Thanks ed. Honestly not trying to strain your patience. Huntelaar would be a very helpful option.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the player wants. Sorry.}

31 Aug 2014 09:11:58
I fail to understand why we have waited so late in the window to go for Remy, as he has a buy out clause and it was understood that he wanted to join us.
In respect of the centre back we need, we must tie up a player before the window closes, as we only have 7 defenders, if you include inexperienced Bellerin.
In the defensive midfield role, either Carvalho or Schneiderlin would be ideal.
Fingers crossed that we get deals done.

Chelsea and City, despite yesterday's hiccup, are the teams to beat. Their performances so far must show Arsene that we need the last pieces to compete. I'm confident we'll get them.

As far as United are concerned, they have become a laughing stock, from a club that never sack managers or buy a team they can now scrub those off their CV.

I honestly don't believe they appreciate the problems they are in, having lived through a world of Ferguson they now assume it is almost their right to win trophies.

With no stadium to build we assumed we would carry on winning trophies but selling your best and replacing them with a lesser calibre left us trophy less for 9 years. This is what has happened to them, one bad year with a Championship winning team and not even Europa league football.

United have sold or lost their best, Ronaldo, Tevez, Ferdinand, Neville, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Vidic, Evra and others to replace them with mediocrity or players with potential they've turned into distinctly average players, Smalling, Cleverley, Rafael and Jones.

With the exception of us selling them RVP and the rest of us going into melt down they would not have 20 titles and their meltdown would have started earlier.

Ferguson retires, they employ Moyes, on his say so, who in turn panders to a woeful Wayne Rooney who has become the Mike Tyson of the footballing world, once feared by everyone, now wheel him into a ring and he won't knock you out in a month of Sundays.

They have also since been totally rinsed for players like the long forgotten Zaha along with Fellaini, Mata, Shaw, Herrera and Di Maria, even paying over the odds for Rojo and Blind. They are also struggling to get rid of players.

That has been their only way to get players, MONEY, lots of it. Whilst there is no doubting Di Maria's talent and the potential of Shaw they have bought players no one else has either wanted or paid over the top to get them.

Players such as Fabregas and Kroos choosing better options.

I make it they have a squad containing maybe at a push 9 players fit for purpose, they have a manager who won things in Spain and Germany with Barca and Munich. Two countries where it is pretty much a two horse race. That is not the case in the EPL, there maybe two favourites but Everton, Liverpool, Spurs and more so us can upset that apple cart and all teams can and do cause you problems. So he will find it, even with no Europe and minimal cup games, a totally different animal.

He has a squad full of uncertainty, with little confidence and struggling to adapt to his Philosophy, whatever that is and would a single one of us, or for that matter any of the top four wanted him to replace our current managers.

At his age you end up being the national coach for a reason, normally pre retirement.

They are to good to go down, aren't they?
