Question to the Ed's, Do you think Marco Reus is going to move this summer and if so to who? I'm reading Manchester United and Liverpool are in the running? Is there any interest from us?

HCF

{Ed025's Note - liverpool and utd would be favourites for me HCF, but you never know if the khedira deal goes tits up mate..

Personally think Welbeck is a quality signing. People should wait to judge. He is not a top quality player yet but at Arsenal as a striker and hopefully with more confidence he could flourish. i'm just buzzing we actually signed someone. He has bags of energy, can be very direct closes down efficiently, runs in behind the defence, has pace to burn just needs to get more goals which hopefully he can do for us. Also when Giroud is back he can play left wing as well which is a bonus, which in turn hopefully leads to more Ozil in the central role.

Giroud is a flipping donkey, nothing close to the quality striker we need. I'm hoping Welbeck can have a good run for us and replace him as our number one striker.

2.) CIG

Stupid statement

One of my biggest concerns when I watch this Arsenal team is the tempo. Our build up play is to slow and allows every team we play to get back in shape which then takes are passing game out of play. We're then found playing short passes on the edge of the box which usually lead to nothing, look at Liverpool today the speed they break with allows them situations where there attackers have space to run in and sometimes outnumber the defenders similar with Chelsea.

We're a few players short of competing, Alexis is an excellent addition. Why Ozil is being played on the left where he is ineffective is beyond my comprehension.

My biggest fear is even if we signed two more players of Alexis' standard for example William Carvalho and Marco Reus. We would still be found wanting due to our tactics. I just feel managers like Brendan Rodgers and Mourinhio have an edge on Wenger because they can adapt, set up in different ways. There strong defensively and then counter quickly and create goal scoring chances.

A win today and we would have had a decent start a draw puts us on 5 points after 3 games. 3 points clear of United. Which is only one win. We have City next if we lose that and they win we'll be even after one of the worst starts to a campaign they ever had. We've had the harder sides granted but just shows how we are underachieving.

Players who looked immense during pre-season have gone of the boil. I personally think Ramsey has been terrible bar his goals since the start of the league. How Wenger hasn't given Joel Campbell a sniff of a chance is ridiculous. He would have been buzzing after the world cup, finally been put in the Arsenal squad. Then be frozen out on the bench. Reducing his confidence and removing that post World Cup buzz.

The team lacks balance and strength you don't sign one of the worlds best number 10s for 42.5 Million and play him on the wings. We've got the shortest average squad size and when teams get physical we look outmatched.

Things can change quickly and I hope they do.

HCF

1.) Hcf,

Read your first paragraph and met you have hit the nail on its head. TEMPO or lack of, so slow to move the ball forward movement off the ball is reaction so losing 2nd ball situations.

No real pace out there today, and against a team like Leicester do we really need a holding midfielder?

2.) You've just saved me a half hour of typing mate, that is absolutely 100% spot on.

Frustrating is too weak a word to describe watching that cr@p today.

Wenger needs to fix this. He literally has hours left to try and do what should have been done before the word cup even started. We've seen many a quality player move this window and some even at modestly low fee's so he's no excuse.

He also needs to go back to square one on the training ground and sort us out a new tactical system to get the best out of the players we have.

No disrespect meant to our opponents today but if we can't take all points available during a season against a newly promoted team, how can we challenge for the title?

If we do not add a quality CDM who else would be underwhelmed by this transfer window. Ospina and Debuchy are very good players but they are replacing outgoing players they do not add depth. Sanchez is an unbelievable signing but does not address one of our main problems which is someone to break up play and cover the defence. Sanchez adds a lot but him alone won't win us the league another quality addition in the defensive midfield position would give us a chance. let's wrap this up like the Sanchez deal pronto, William Carvalho or Schneiderlin. And then sell Vermaelan and get Phil Jones.

HCF

{Ed025's Note - selling TV...then signing phil jones is like selling your 3 bedroom house for a caravan mate..

1.) Yes mate I'd be very disappointed and feel we were making life tougher than need be for ourselves, but having said that this time last year I was screaming for a keeper to replace Szczesney and he made me eat every word twice, so who knows maybe Flamini and Artetta will do the same but I'd rather not take that chance

2.) 23 Jul 2014 19:13:04
Like dumping Kelly brook for Susan Boyle if u ask me. Stupid move

{Ed025's Note - i happen to think susan boyle is quite hot D16..

3.) 23 Jul 2014 21:25:32
Sorry I clearly got them the wrong way round there

4.) 23 Jul 2014 20:24:42

{Ed025's Note - now your talking hot hot hot dags.. :)

Considering we are in for at least one central midfielder and some 'papers' reporting two, which I feel is unlikely what role do you believe Wilshere will be left in.

I've defended him in the past when other people have said he has a bad attitude and isn't progressing as a player. Saying he's still young and has time.

But I am finding it harder to defend him when he is caught smoking again and drinking. Obviously footballer's deserve a break but the top level athletes usually don't do these things. I still reckon we would regret selling him and he would come back to haunt us. But I don't see Wenger standing by him if he keeps getting caught doing stuff like this. Especially after he himself said he needs to improve.

What's everyone's opinions?

HCF

1.) I love Wilshere, as an Arsenal man and an Englishman, he's the heir to the armband for both club and country, he's our homegrown wunderkind.

But his actions can't be stood for, he should be in London, getting the fittest he's ever been, trying to make sure he's ready for the season and ready to make Wenger have no other option but to bench Ramsey or (hopefully) Khedira.

But he's happy enough to get pi55ed and smoke during the break between the seasons.

Do we see Ramsey doing this? Nope.
Do we see oxlade doing this? Nope.
How about Walcott? Nope.

Buck up Jack and show us what you're made of!

Gets me pretty mad sometimes.

Peace out.

2.) I suppose when you are on holiday you don't enjoy yourselves then. Let the lad have his break and then knuckle down.

3.) I have some sympathy with him this time as after all he's on holiday and if he can't be off duty then when can he be?
He's made a very heavy rod for his own back and this season will be pivotal in his carrer, personally my money's on him being a Southampton or West ham player with in two years, I hope I'm wrong but I don't think he's got what it takes mentally to be a very top pro.

4.) 14 Jul 2014 21:50:54
Agree with Steve,

Lets judge him when the season starts.

5.) It is big defining season for Wilshere he needs to step up to plate and have a consistent run of games and good form, otherwise he will be overtaken as regular starter and just become a squad player.

He needs to stay major injury free but I fear though that he just seems to be that type of player that attracts regular injuries. To me it is his unbalanced bow legged running style on the outside of his feet that is a cause of a lot of injury issues. I am not sure if he has some from or physically abnormality or weather he actually trained himself to run like that it just seems odd to me.

My fear is that it will always be one step forward and 2 steps back with Wilshere with his constant battle with injuires.

Luke Shaw is quality IMO. It is a lot of money but I honestly think he will be a top left back for a long time absolutely gutted he joined United his crossing ability is crazy would of loved him at Arsenal. He's on £120,000 a week though that's nearly Sanchez and Ozil wages which is ridiculous for a 19 year old.

With Soldado up front Spurs should be considered the real threat especially with Lamela on the wings. I mean Ozil, Sanchez and Ramsey are no worry

Personally for me Phil Jones is a better option then Chris Smalling. I would be angry if we signed the latter he has a bad attitude and isn't ever going to be good enough. Where as Phil Jones in my opinion could be decent. Him and Schneiderlin please.

HCF

{Ed025's Note - both very poor for me HCE, they are stoppers and ok at defending to a certain degree, but with the ball at their feet they are woeful mate, in a word..hooooooooof..

Agreed Bender or Schneiderlin would be buzzing with either. IMO I'd rather Schneiderlin young and great stats Premiership ready

I think Lars Bender is the best option we have. Khedira's injury record and wage demands too much. A) is tempting but who knows how consitent he would be.
