AussieGooner2

{Ed025's Note - not that am aware of AG2..

Ivanovic to Arsenal for 7 mil? Don't think so . On other news T5 denied moving to united which I think is good news

AussieGooner2

1.) 20 Jun 2014 12:40:42
he can't talk to other clubs, until he got the permission from arsenal. so this is the only thing that he can say. so its not good news, its only the only news you can get

Hi eds, I was wondering about any updates on T.Vermaelen situation. Is he staying with us? If not who can be the potential replacement? I read about Ashley Williams, Is he still a possibility?

AussieGooner2

{Ed002's Note - As far as I know he is staying but that might well change. See an earlier answer. I would not be surprised to see an approach to Swansea regarding Ashley Williams from Arsenal and potentially others.}

1.) 27 May 2014 22:09:40
I wonder if he will be captain next season. I've always been a fan of having a first team player being captain

2.) Thanks ed, fantastic news if TV5 stays with the club - big ups from the supporters, he is a class act and deserves our respect and loyalty… now for that Sagna chap?

3.) Any further interest in Fabien Schaar like in January? Is Mattias Ginter moving from Freiburg to Dortmund or is he still a possibility as well?
Thanks EDs

{Ed002's Note - (1) Not from Arsenal. (2) He will go to Dortmund unless there is a major hiccup.}

In the early weeks of last season every pundit and expert predicted Chelsea and ManC to finish the season above Arsenal and of course they would have laughed at the idea of Leicester winning the title.

At the beginning this season also none of these 'experts' would have imagined Everton or Arsenal or Liverpool ranking higher than Chelsea or ManU by the end of week 5.

To me the undeniable fact is that the all the overpaid pundits have no clue and cannot predict anything about the outcome of the season. Especially during the last 5 seasons with the influx of money and rise of so many new powerful teams their old formula of betting on the most expensive teams is not reliable anymore.

Now, I am not going to claim to know any better but I do know they cannot come up with a more accurate understanding of the game than any other average passionate fan of the game.

The point is; stop giving your team the stick based on the nonsense you read or hear. Believe in your team and yourself, support them and criticize them using your own understanding of the game and ideas. The likes of Neville, Carra, and Owen cannot manage a amateur team and are not in the position to judge the work of premier league managers any better than you and me.

AussieGooner2

{Ed025's Note - im with you there aussie..

1.) 18 Sep 2016 21:52:02
I noticed you didn't mention spurs who are sitting above arsenal, Liverpool, man Utd, Chelsea lol.

2.) 18 Sep 2016 22:06:35
Because a few of them actually could have thought of that. Although you should know better than me that will not be the case by the end of the season.

3.) 18 Sep 2016 22:18:02
Raver,
We are trying to have a football conversation.

Why mention Spurs? :-)

4.) 18 Sep 2016 22:34:07
To be fair Aussie no one thought it possible Leicester could win the league last season not even the Leicester fan who won all that money on them doing it, he will have been backing them every season for years much like our own Welsh who put money on us pipping them to the title even though it ment them losing their last 8 games and us winning our last 8 for us to do it :-)

Personally I call things as I see them but am always willing to have my opinion changed by what I see for myself not what either the media or Arsene tells me to think.

My own opinion is Perez is a long shot panic buy punt and I don't need any pundit to tell me that, why? Because he's 28 and had 1 decent season in whole his career so I can't see a sensible reason to think he's going to be the difference between us challenging or not but I'm obviously hoping to have my opinion changed as the season goes on by what I see from him.

5.) 18 Sep 2016 22:50:17
I recall vardy having one good season also.

6.) 18 Sep 2016 22:56:18
I also think Perez is a panic buy and my gut tells me he will leave the club next season without scoring a single goal. Call me pessimistic. But I also think the reason for Arsenal to buy him was keeping the other players happy. The club and the board and the management don't really care about the transfer requests of the fans or the opinion of the media but they do care about the attitude and opinions of the players. If the likes of Sanchez and Ozil want a new striker to sign a new deal then it has to happen even if it's a waste of money and time.

If Perez experiment fails (for the record I hope he wins the golden boot! ) then blame will be not just with Arsene but also impatient and impressionable supporters.

7.) 18 Sep 2016 23:19:11
Impatient :-) being unhappy about a decade without a title challenge isn't impatience its an extremely poor effort from a club the size of Arsenal.

8.) 19 Sep 2016 00:24:49
impatience regarding transfers not titles. Those things are very different in my opinion.
Just remember how many 'great' signings were favored by the fans who ended up flopping elsewhere. We were all upset when Jovetic and Bony snubbed us for City, where are they now? who can say they would have been any better in an Arsenal shirt? People were angry that Arsene let go of Fellaini, the same people now call him a joke. Same goes for many others.
I am not defending the transfer policy, we can see the outcome and clearly it is not completely satisfying. However, I believe we are better off focusing on the tactics, strategies and mentality of the team which in my opinion have played a bigger role in our EPL title drought anyway.

9.) 19 Sep 2016 02:19:25
Every signing is a risk really. I wanted schneiderlin and miki both of whom went to united, and tbf miki has barely had a look in in 5games, but neither are showing anything to suggest that they would have got a game for us. People on here wanted balotelli, remy, benteke, falcao etc, who would touch any of them now? (Except dags, ofc)
Heck even fabregas after his first half a season with chelsea has looked absolutely woeful, much like van persies rapid decline after his one decent season for united. Sterling looked a decent buy for city, then absolutely flopped, and now he's looking alright again. Nasri has fallen off the face of the earth.
Don't mean to keep picking on united, its just easy considering their recent business, but after all the hype pogba is fast looking like he's going to be the next ADM. if you look on the united page you'll find talk of winning the title is now turning into talk of struggling for the top 6. After five games.

So aye you can throw all the money in the world at all the big names, even ones that have been playing in the same league for years, but there's no guarantee any of them will be any good.

10.) 19 Sep 2016 08:45:53
Lol, thanks Limetree, although I will hold my hand up about Remy.

Good post btw mate, very true.

11.) 19 Sep 2016 13:17:30
I agree Aussie, I get the same feeling with Vincent Jansen at my club, he couldn't score in a brothel.

Imagine if we had to play away at Chelsea this weak or at Anfield.

Arteta (thigh), Gnabry (knee) Gibbs (hamstring), Sanogo (hamstring), Ospina (thigh), Walcott (knee)

do I need to say more?

AussieGooner2

1.) Are they your favourite parts of their bodies?

{Ed002's Note - I recall a Mothers of Invention song "What's the ugliest part of your body".}

2.) We can build him make him stronger faster

3.) 23 Aug 2014 10:40:38
I think every club at the top level will have 5 or 6 players injured at some point!

4.) I like their hair

5.) Thats my only concern with Khedira Saint, that hair? Does it fit in with our style

09 Aug 2014 19:11:34
TV5 was the third Arsenal Captain to join Barca in 7 years. That's something to think about!

AussieGooner2

1.) 09 Aug 2014 19:52:44
It's a master plan mate.

Slowly we are taking over Barcelona, in instalments.

Keep it under your hat or they will rumble it.

According to Daily Star Arsenal is set to sign Debuchy for £12 million. The deal is agreed and will be signed after the worldcup.

AussieGooner2

1.) Gutted

2.) Your an Aussie so I'll allow it just this once, but if the daily star told me the sun would rise tommorow it would make me dubious

Buying Debuchy actually to me is proof we are shooting for title. Debuchy is experienced and already better than Sagna. Aurier maybe turn out to be a better players in 4 to 5 years but right now Debuchy is a better option.
