Just for fun, this is why I think we have turned the corner and will be a threat this season.
szcesny is more composed and reliable, no more "Mr Flappy".

Kos and Per are developing a good understanding at the back, ably assisted by Gibbs and slightly less, Sagna.

The re-arrival of Flamflam who in my opinion is one of the best DMs in the prem. He reads the game very well, is disciplined and barks out orders as if he has been captain for 5 or 6 years.

Aaron Ramsey. What more can you say about Rambo? The best all round midfielder in the prem who has come on leaps and bounds. Full of confidence, looks for the ball, runs into space, pulls the opposition out wide and links up with Olly fantastically.

Mesut Ozil. Wenger spent £42,000,000 on him but I think he is worth at least £42,000,000 and a penny (sorry couldn't resist that one). The man oozes class and makes everybody around him step up and play better.

Olly Giroud. Fantastic front man, unselfish, leads the line very well and just gives 100% when he puts on the red and white.

feel free to agree/disagree boys

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Scezesney is playing great, but there are still flashes of his old self, however if he can keep this up for the whole season I'd be delighted! As for the others, well, I think we all know they're playing amazingly at the moment and it's just a case of coming through the next few matches with enough points to keep us at the top!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't fault a word DG, we are on the he up my friend, no matter who says what we are looking good again.
Sometimes we boss games sometimes we hit teams on the break but 8/10 times we win.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely G62

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all . I do not know how you can consider Ozil to be a class player.

he barely moves, he is barely noticed.

for me, after watching the West Brom Crystal Palace game, it was certain we miss Chamakh.

He has had two shots in 9 games but has scored one goal. I mean that's 50% conversion.

just saying. you guys are busy worshipping some expensive player while we sold another superstar. for free FFS.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville you have got to be kidding me

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville are you drunk?

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a joke. jesus. palace fans don't take chamakh seriously. lol

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL we know laker

Just been on Manchester United page and seen liverpool and utd fans saying that your team lacks balance and quality. Says none of your full backs are any good, goalkeepers poor, flaminis too slow and gets exploited, giroud is not top class and any team with a good midfield will beat you.

As a neutral (southampton fan) I feel. say that to the five point gap, the supposive SAS could not put one past a poor defence and goalkeeper haha. I love to watch arsenal play football and feel you are deservedly are top, and will beat United at old trafford 2-0 as well. Giroud is world class and the best french striker. Flamini is the best dm in the league.

However, the best you can hope for on the 23rd is a draw if you park the bus.

Also, feel ed001 is a brilliant editor.

In the words of Oscar Wilde
"There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
So on that note my comments on the two teams you mentioned are.

Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read the post on the Manc page and disagree with most of it just like you, our midfield is the best in England and our full backs are very capable, if either Liverpool or United had the chance to have Gibbs they'd take him in a heartbeat (and Monreal IMO)

Sagna's recent form has put him as one of the best right backs in the prem again.

We are lacking width at the moment but we are missing oxlade, Walcott and podolski who are our wide players!

Seems like they've spat their dummies out and thrown the toys out the pram.

5 points clear thank you very much

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I read that, what a load of toffee.
I was so annoyed I decided to reply to them on the Manchester United banter page and I had to chuckle when I saw G62 did the same (before me). go go G62 lol

After all the votes on the favourite player, I voted for giroud but its probably ramesy in the end, as everyone was saying he is great for coming back from so many bad things in his career.

I had never heard this before but I was reading up there on chesney and apparently he broke both of his forearms when he was 18 or 19 which for a goalkeeper is pretty tough especially one so young and after moving to such a big club, so I think he deserves big respect for that.

Ps . This in no way was intended to detract in anyway from ramsey or his comeback from all his problems :)

We are full of confidence at the moment but BD really worry me. They hammered Stuttgart 6-1 friday evening and make no mistake, this is going to be a very very very hard game.
We drew 1-1 there a few years ago and beat Bayern last season so going to Germany shouldn't be too intimidating for us but Lewandowski scares the pants off me (i bet that's what Flybo says about Olly Giroud, you rude rude man Flybo), but I like to think we have enough in our locker.
Happy with a draw but a win would be priceless.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

May be I'm delusional but I respect them but certainly don't think a win there is beyond us. In fact a point would be a bit of a concelation prize for me. There result Friday was impressive but don't for a minute think they don't feel the same about ours against a good Liverpoo.

There is nothing to fear but fear its self

Agree0 Disagree0

Last post was supposed to say against a good Liverpool and leaving the L off the end was not meant as a snipe to a side who's fans have been very complementary about us on their page.
Oooops I should read before I post especially when hung over

Agree0 Disagree0

Hehe G62, I reckon you did that on purpose mate. I call them loserpool but Liverpoo is brilliant.
With regards to BD away, I hope you are correct my friend and if we beat them away I would be over the moon plus it would set us up nicely for the trip to Old Trafford

Iv been putting some serious thought in2 which striker we need 2 go 4 in jan. It HAS to be Lewendowski. I guarantee for the price, you won't get a better quality forward. Opinions welcome but I think he can b got 4 between 20 and 30mil. When u think of how much other forwards of that level cost, there will b no better value in jan. Dortmund don't want 2 let him go 2 bayern 4 free, he has said he would play in prem, it's a no brainer. Suarez would cost upwards of 50 mil as would aguero. Benzema is now girouds understudy 4 France so why would we want him? I LOVE giroud, I love the way he makes us play, bringing our midfielders in2 play, they all feed off his hard work and it's lovely 2 watch. But seriously, if we want 2 win things we need at least 2 top strikers to rotate, and bendtner is not a top striker. U can see lew playing the same way giroud does for us which seems to be working fine. Podolski is more suited 2 playing on the left 4 us. I don't think people will argue we don't need a striker. The Manchester clubs are overloaded with strikers, the scoucers and spurs don't have champs league so they couldn't get him. why wouldn't Lewendowski want 2 come and play with our midfield behind him? If Chelsea show an interest it may b difficult but we are definitely in with a shout. Barca just bought neymar and I don't think real could go 4 Suarez and lew after what they just blew on bale. Sorry for the rant but I say we sign him and we WILL win trophies this season. And we all know wenger loves a bargain

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree north london but only prob I can see is will lew play 2nd fiddle to Giroud and vice versa?
I think having 2 top class strikers will prove a problem for us because wenger will never switch to 4-4-2 like liverpool or even Manchester United and city (to a lesser extent).
Having said that, with the talent we have in midfield, 4-5-1 is probably our best option IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Ideally you are bang on but realistically if we show an interest you just know chelsea will get involved but you never know we got Ozil. Another player who could be a good signing would be Pato a lot of rumours about him recently but IMO could be what we need fast, agile, tricky and a good finisher {Ed002's Note - Chelsea declared an interest by making an offer in the summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree DG a Giroud apprentice would be good ( a toy boy for Flybo too:-)
Our first team needs are cb and a goal scorer but as cover and to learn the Arsenal way of play so when their time comes they fit in seemlessly

Agree0 Disagree0

Very true G62, maybe Monsieur Wenger has high hopes for sanogo, a young apprentice to learn from the master Giroud.

hi
remind me again, did the spudettes really spend 110 million this summer? beep beep, MG:):)
COYG andi:)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rambo has 10 this season, that's 1 more than spurs have scored in the prem this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Who are the spurs? that basketball team in Texas?

i googled it and I got

Spurs are tools worn on the heel of a boot, used when riding horses.

The Chancellor's Spurs, a traveling trophy awarded to the winner of the college football game between Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at Austin

The Witbank Spurs, an association football club from South Africa

SPURS National Honor Society, a collegiate sophomore honor-service society in the United States

Spurs (short story), a short story by Tod Robbins that served as the basis of the film Freaks

there was another link. some person-in-ham spurs. clicked on it and it said, this page has been temporarily shut down by direct instruction from Daniella levy

OK lads bit of fun and discussion:
From our current squad who is your favorite player?
Mine is m/ Thomas Rosicky m/ .
The energy he has, the energy he injects in the team at his age is amazing.
His surging runs with the ball, his determination, tackling is something you want to see from every player in your team. Oh how I wish he was 25 so I could watch his brilliance for many more years.
m/ Rosicky m/ rulezzzzz

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Giroud, because of his work ethic, broad shoulders and beautiful smile.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud. He's a beautiful man and a beautiful player

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have to Ramsey, for having the strength at such a young age to come back from that injury, the maturity to deal with the criticism and the all round belief in himself to become the player we have the pleasure of watching so far this season.
Put all those things together and to have lost a great mentor and friend in Gary Speed, I can't think of any player at any age let alone one so young as Aaron that has dealt with all these and come out of it with 100% positivity.
He's not just a credit to the club he is a credit to football, he is the kind of role model football needs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Flybo you surprise me mate, I felt sure you would go for fabianski because of his manly grip:-)

Sorry on going for the obvious but it has to be Ramsey because he typifies the all new improved Arsenal this season.
If there was a two separate polls for the most improved team and another for player
It would Be a non contest in both

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2013 15:22:33
Tomas Rosicky because he doesn't dilly dally with the ball. He is ever trying to go forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rambo, Kos, Giroud, Ozil, Rosicky.

Hard to choose

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2013 15:57:41
Has to be giroud for me, puts his heart into every game

Agree0 Disagree0

Rosicky is my guy, the man

He's an all time Gunner for me

Agree0 Disagree0

All joking aside, at the moment it's Ramsey. For all the reasons 1404 gave. It's nice that it's such a hard choce at the moment.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Big Mert isn't getting the credit he deserves, as well as a few of the other lads. From Szez, Kos, Mert, Rambo, Rosicky and of course the gorgeous Olivier. They have all seem to have turned a corner this season, long may the progression continue.

Agree0 Disagree0

1404 that's such a fantastic post and I echo your sentiments

Agree0 Disagree0

For me its bendtner because he has style and grace and 100% commitment. he never stops running and looking for the ball and he is a lethal finisher. (tee hee hee)

Agree0 Disagree0

1404
That is a totally brilliant post mate.
I don't think I have ever seen better.
After reading it I have even more admiration for Aaron, great example to all young(and not so young) people not just in football but life in general

Agree0 Disagree0

Frimpong. For his humility, cutting wit and of course great technical ability and attitude.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chamakh. just because I think he has glued a toupe to his head. yet still has a 50% conversion rate. Time wasters glorifying some dead wood.

Chamakh stat - 2 shots on target = 1 goal in 9 games

Giroud, stat - 38 shots = 5 goals in 10 games.

if chamakh had 38 shots he would have scored 19 goals by now.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2013 12:56:40
Berahinho anyone? He is the type of striker we lack and would cost less than most of our targets and less of a risk considering he is scoring premiere league goals already.

With him here it would still leave no doubt about Giroud being our 1st choice while playing a young "English" lad who is better than than the young strikers we produce at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

White rabbit he is decent but would prefer Loic Remy

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2013 12:38:19
Hi ed how far off are our injured players from a return safe return? By safe I mean without being rushed back desperation style.

Be good to have them of course but I don't want to see to much rotation as we have a real spirit and belief that needs building on.

But a strong bench keeps all on their toes and prevents wareing players out 90 mins in every game. {Ed002's Note - I cannot possibly be expected to answer that. The club put out a weekly press release that covers injured players in broad terms - sometimes they will make statements about dates. They will never mention anything about "being rushed back".}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just had a look around and apparently Flamini Walcott and poldolski are all thought to be available next weekend :-)
There was no mention of them being rushed or taking a leisurely stroll though :-) :-) :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comment, was a bit of a stupid question really oooops

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post G62, totally agree. we don't desparately need them back but it would be nice if we could throw a few extra bodies on the bench and give them some game time.
can't wait to have Theo and Pod back as they will strenghten the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2013 11:04:58
Bendtner is going on loan in jan, so
who is availible? Guidetti, mitroglou? Big Lew? Is zouma taking verminators Place?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bendtner can easily be replaced by any large, static object of no value.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol at Exiled, I love that comment.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Exiled, well, I do have this really big cupboard that I am not really using. If Wenger comes in with an offer of Bendtner(to be my man-servant) and £20 000 in the January transfer, maybe we can talk business

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2013 10:56:29
that result yesterday was worth far more than 3 points to us! {Ed002's Note - No. It was just worth three points.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thank you for speaking sense ED002.

It is good for the confidence, but at the end of the day it is just 3 points.

Now let's get 3 at Dortmund and 3 in Manchester.

Agree0 Disagree0

James we will mate, we really will,

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't agree. There is 3 points against a team like Cardiff and then there is 3 POINTS PLUS RESPECT!. I believe we got the latter on Saturday

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2013 09:57:50
Great result yesterday. Must admit feared the worst with the way the sas have been performing, but luckily a fairly blunt Swiss Army knife turned up, big respect to Per and Kos they are really playing well together.

I see are biggest problem being Giroud, he is working his socks off at the moment and I don't know what we do if he is injured?
I think we need to put in a big bid to get Lewandowski, and also ( this won't be popular ) Defoe looks like he could be shown the door at Spurs. would ya?
A lot of rumours that Bendtner is likely to go out on loan in Jan so something must be going to happen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lukas will be back probably next week mate then just waiting on walcott but I agree another forward is needed benzama is my bet

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud for me I is second to none in terms of effort commitment and just how much he cares,, if he gets injured it will be a blow but not the disaster people fear because we will play like Barca and Spain with out a striker until he is fit again. Simples

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no better striker for us to sign than Lewandowski, Benzema is not even close to him. But, probably every big team in Europe will be after him when he becomes available.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lewandowski is too much like giroud, the pod is more direct power from midfield I would take him nontheless I would take defoe as per previous poster and we can all give bendtner a chance as much crap he is now if he gets his head right the signs are there

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on mate enough with this giving Bendtner a chance. He had his chance many times I would rather give Sanogo or Akpom a chance. He is crap the sooner he leaves the better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi all, if you could have any striker, aside from lewandoski (counting him out because I still think he will go to bayern on a free) who would you have, I personally have 4 option's
Martinez
Costa
Benteke
Vucinic
I know the last is questionable but I think he will leave juve and he would be a perfect fit for us

Agree0 Disagree0

I would try for Chicharito or Muriel. Chicharito more likely to leave this January if he doesn't get enough playing time

Agree0 Disagree0

Costa is a beast and has a fantastic scoring recoed

Just been watching all the media on the 'Sunday Suppository' stating exactly why Arsenal can't or won't win the league. Funny how they all have the same oversized right wrists. Always thought it was from typing one handed - obviously it's mainly due to their sex lives.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know, it's ridiculous. A fit squad and our bench could have been this -

Fab
Tv5
Monreal
Jack
Flamini
Theo
Podolski

I think most EPL teams would take that wouldn't they?

Agree0 Disagree0

I see it as only a positive that the so called experts dismiss us, because it takes any pressure away from us and onto others plus the more we win the more they will have to try and back track.
To be fair Robbie Savage changed his mind very early and said we were real contenders

Agree0 Disagree0

Bench is looking strong when everyone fit, shame most of them are injured.

Still buzzing from last night, heads considerably much more sore than it would be on a Sunday morning, but that's starting the beers a bit earlier than usual.

Extremely proud of our performance yesterday evening, we really had a very decent Liverpool team chasing shadows all game. The supposed best strikeforce in the premiership 'SAS' barely got a shot away in anger. We completely bossed the defence, midfield, and final third.

Don't like to get ahead of myself, being an Arsenal fan has taught me not to throughout the years. But I really see a different beast at the Emirates this season, we look well drilled at the back, big Giroud has been a revelation, don't think there's another frontman in the league could do the job he's doing (that includes Suarez). and well, our midfield is like no other, shockingly good with very capable players still to add to it.

If we do a job on UTD this coming Sunday, I honestly think we'll win the league. There hasn't been a season before where we have had the opportunity to just grab the bull by the horns and go for it, as much as this season.

It's a nice feeling enjoying our football again, haven't felt like this since the Invincibles, maybe the 2007 season was just as exciting but this is just that little bit more special.

C'mon you Gunners :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Boozy I feel your pain mate, early drinking sessions do take their toll now days for me.
But I also share you pride so I ain't complaining

I am interested to know what other people's feelings and views are on Jacks ongoing injury problems are. He has had ongoing problems for over 18 months now and personally I hate saying this but I can't see it ending anytime soon even Wenger has come out and said that basically they are at a loss with it all at the moment. If we were not all so passionate about Jack would we all be thinking cash in while we can? Or is our heart ruling our head here?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jack will be fantastic in the run in mate, I just think he is trying to hard to be what all want him to be at the moment.

Aaron said last year how much he was looking forward to playing a long side him in MF when he was fit and we all thought Aaron wouldn't get the chance once all were fit.

Well 12 months on and Ramsey is the star of the show and all the questions are being asked about Jack now, got to be hard for the lad who has always been king in waiting to handle, but he will and they will be brilliant together before to long

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree. When cesc moved to Barca Jack was going to take over and rule the roost as far as the midfield is concerned. However, injury has blighted his progress but we must give him time and patience and he will come good, ala ramsey.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2013 23:38:03
So in our last 26 league games these are the stats:
Won: 22
Draw: 2
Lost: 2

This season alone played 10 games:
Won: 8
Draw: 1
Lost: 1

Speaks for itself, if we carry on this rate then there's no one that can stop us, if we get a decent result up at United then come the opersite fixture at the emirates they will have no chance! For once in a few years I can say that I'm really hopefull for us, this is the season to be a gooner. Who would of thought that Aaron Ramsey would be best player of the season so far? I certainly didn't (humble pie didn't taste great). Buzzing just doesn't describe it :) proud gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A draw at sold Trafford would be a decent result we all know that, but a massive part of me wants pay back for the times they have humiliated us.
That's really weak of me I know, so in the name of compromise I will take 0 1 away.

I can't say fairer than that

Luckily for us Monreal is just as good as Gibbs and links up superbly with Cazorla. Jack injury is unfortunate but with Rosicky and Gnabry capable of filling in I wouldn't be too worried.

I heard Flamini might be back in time for the Manchester United game which would be a huge boost. Also when the hell are Podolski and Theo back?
